Hard and Fast Like a Viagra Thief: My Review of Hot Sinatra by Axel Howerton

I should start by saying that I got a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

That being said, I devoured this book. For the longest time, I’ve wondered what happened to the old-school detective novel. I’ve contemplated the fate of the gumshoe. Hot Sinatra put my mind at ease that those novels can still exist.

“‘Watch your mouth, fracicone,” he growled with a salacious grin, like he wanted to tear me open with his bare hands and make sweet love to my left ventricle.”

Hard and fast li...

His & Her Review: Die Hard, It’s A Guy Thing

His & Hers Reviews Die Hard

His Perspective:

Last week, as you may recall, I reviewed The Bachelor, because my wife loves it and convinced me to do a His & Her Review series. So what are the rules of the series? Well, every other week, we do or watch something girly that my wife likes. On the weeks between, I get to pick something more…macho.

Well, after two hours of The Bachelor, I knew I needed to make my counter stroke something worth writing about. I needed the quintessential guy movie. I ne...

His & Her Review: I Love My Wife, But I Can’t Stand The Bachelor

His & Her Reviews: The Bachelor

His Perspective:

I like to think of myself as somewhat of a normal guy. I play Halo, I watch action movies, I even have a favorite football team. (Cowboys. Go ahead, I’ll wait for you to stop laughing…) So why on Earth am I reviewing The Bachelor?

The short answer is that my wife loves it. And seeing as I love her, I figure if I get to spend time with her, it can’t be that bad, right? You see, we both work from home, but our work is such that we actually see each...

The Secret Lives of Dogs: The Tunnel

There are three dogs that live in the beige house near the beginning of the street; Polo, a golden retriever and recovering tennis ball addict, Rugby, a Lhasa Apso/Maltese mix who thought he was a small person, and Kentucky Derby, a Jack Russell/Beagle mix with a short attention span. While the saying goes that every dog has his day, sometimes it’s of note to see what they tend to do with their other days…

The trees by the old shed were the perfect spot to s...

Happy Friggin’ New Year: Resolutions for the Masses 2013

I started this year with a very simple resolution: write every day for the next 365 days. So this morning, I woke up, started a blank Word document and began to write. Unfortunately, most of what I wrote was waaaaay too heartfelt and meaningful. So then, thinking about the New Year, I began to come up with my resolutions for the New Year.

Well, that sucked, too.

So, I figured that maybe I should write resolutions for everyone else. Why? Well, let’s face it, most people this time of year have ve...

Home for the Holidays: One Dog’s Journey from Kentucky to Forever

hi

Hi. My name’s Cooper. I was born in the mountains of Kentucky. I don’t really remember my mom, or my brothers and sisters, much. I got lost very early and was forced to live off the land. Food was scarce, but I the best a puppy could do. After I don’t know how many hungry days and cold nights, I was found by a nice person who started me off on my journey. That’s who named me “Cooper.”

Not all puppies are lucky enough to go to animal rescues. Some are shipped off to shelters where they can be p...

The Left Hand of Gaming

I am a left handed gamer. It’s one of those few things in a right-handed world that I can enjoy just as much as a right handed person. So much of the world is designed by right handers for right handers that occasionally, it’s nice to have that one thing that doesn’t make me feel like a Neanderthal. Of course, that’s before things took a turn.

I grew up as a Nintendo gamer. As someone who grew up gaming in the 80s, you really had only two options, Nintendo or SEGA. INES chose Nintendo. Why? Well,...

The Ten Things I Hate About the Holidays

The Things I Learned in Retail

While everyone has been gearing up for the Holiday Season, I have been stocking my bunker full of humbug and Spam. It’s not that I am a Grinch per say, but let’s face it, ifyou’vehad to work the Holidays in retail, you seen the true face of the holidays. When I was a kid, this time of year was my favorite. School lasted one month for the two calendar months of November and December, snow would blanket the ground and peppermint was in abundance. But now, thanks to...

Halo 4 Review

A New Fight

Halo 4. Besides my normal complaint of the way video game companies count (Halo: CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo3: ODST, Halo Wars, Halo Reach, Halo 4…), I didn’t expect to be excited for the release of another Halo game. That being said… OMFG! HALO 4!!! Yes, despite my earlier cynicism about a non-Bungie Halo, I was excited while I did what I do for every Halo launch. I was waiting for midnight at my current video game retailer of choice. (That would be the GameStop in Pontiac, MI) I don...
