Give away Q & A

What kind of research did you do about NY Submitted by Salome'
I had done extensive research throughout my younger years LOL Although some of the data is a bit shrouded and unclear.  But I can tell you what bars and clubs have the cleanest bathrooms fo sho! :P Books/ stories you've read that has changed you in any kind of way. Submitted by Mandi

When I was about 12 I read a book by John Benton titled Renee'. That book scared the living shit out of me and when I was finished I knew without a doubt I'd A: Never become a prostitute and B: Never read anything by that man again. He has a whole series of books. I stuck to Paul Zindel's 'The Pigman' after that.  Picture Your inspiration for the story Submitted by Star

My inspiration came from a combination of boredom and failure. Trust me...it makes sense in my head.  More about the author. Submitted by Shelly

Come on now! Its so hard to talk about yourself! :P Welp, that wraps it up for some time now. You can enter everyday! When I get back from NJ after the Holidays I'll be back in full swing. I may even have a cover reveal *hmmmmmm* Lets just say I got a glimpse of what it looks like and LOVE IT! :P
I'll do my best to answer some Q's while I'm gone...but no promises. I'll be home for Christmas!! Happy Holidays everyone! Stay warm and be happy. I know I am!

Based on a true person? Inspirations & Stuff

This question was submitted by Robyn through the contest app.

What were my inspirations that lead to character development?

Its pretty easy to be inspired when you know some pretty kick ass people, and that's exactly how they all came about. Like Rachel for instance. Rachel is Jordie's bestie. They've been through good, the bad, and the fugly with one another. A wedding, a birth and a death. Rachel is Jordie's go to gal. Who could blame Jordie? Rachel is smart, beautiful and fun fun fun. And Rachel was inspired by one of my long time friends Asia.
When you read about Rachel...just know she truly is the best friend Jordie could have ever had.

Picture So, its safe to say, every character in 'Finding Jordie' has been "Based on a true person" LOL

How do you deal with writer's block?

Picture Not very well at all honestly. I tend to get frustrated and freak out generally. Poor Jenni and Salome’, those two are usually the ones who give me a good kick in the ass to calm down. I don’t know what I’d do without them. After they’d bitch slap me back into reality  calm me down, I take some time to do other things and just clear my head. I remember I was just about finished with FJ and I hit the Holy Grail of writer’s block.  I couldn’t tie anything together and nothing made sense to me. So, I decided to try and forget about it and do other things. Damn Skippy,  a  few days of not melting down and a few good **Head Desks** it all came to me at once. It was like three am,I popped my head up from my pillow, grabbed my phone and started typing away in my notes. Emailed it to myself and slept like a husband the rest of the night. LOL  I don’t think my next tango with writers block was until I started my edits with Salome…going from present tense to past tense freaked me out. I essentially had to rewrite the entire book. I was overwhelmed and annoyed at myself for not sticking with the past tense to begin with. But eh, you live you learn right?

So there ya have it Kim, I have stages to writer’s block. Denial, freak out, calm, abandon and Epiphany or something not even remotely close to an epiphany  Just depends on who ya ask.
