How do you deal with writer's block?
Not very well at all honestly. I tend to get frustrated and freak out generally. Poor Jenni and Salome’, those two are usually the ones who give me a good kick in the ass to calm down. I don’t know what I’d do without them. After they’d bitch slap me back into reality calm me down, I take some time to do other things and just clear my head. I remember I was just about finished with FJ and I hit the Holy Grail of writer’s block. I couldn’t tie anything together and nothing made sense to me. So, I decided to try and forget about it and do other things. Damn Skippy, a few days of not melting down and a few good **Head Desks** it all came to me at once. It was like three am,I popped my head up from my pillow, grabbed my phone and started typing away in my notes. Emailed it to myself and slept like a husband the rest of the night. LOL I don’t think my next tango with writers block was until I started my edits with Salome…going from present tense to past tense freaked me out. I essentially had to rewrite the entire book. I was overwhelmed and annoyed at myself for not sticking with the past tense to begin with. But eh, you live you learn right? So there ya have it Kim, I have stages to writer’s block. Denial, freak out, calm, abandon and Epiphany or something not even remotely close to an epiphany Just depends on who ya ask.
