Nice to meet you....
I grew up in Bricktown New Jersey, less than an hour away from New York City. As a teenager and my early twenties, I loved hanging out in the glamor of NYC. I was a "City Brat" so it was pretty hard for me when I packed up all my crap and three cats in 2005, for a life changing road trip and moved to California. I travelled around the country until I met my other half in 2005.
After serving twelve years in the Air Force, the man of my dreams ended his military career and we moved to Georgia six years ago. Since then, we've settled down in Leesburg GA, and had our first child.
No place has ever come close to replacing the magic of New York City in my mind. So when I decided to try this romance writing gig out, naturally I set my first book, ‘Finding Jordie’ there.
I enjoy reading, and spending time with my family. Reality shows are my guilty pleasure. I'm a sucker for romantic comedies and Robert Pattinson. I am a pro at goofing off, I talk with my hands, (I'm Italian!) I drink way too much coffee, and get too little sleep. Oh, and I have a thing for Jackie-O sized sunglasses. I have four furry kids and most importantly, I have a beautiful daughter. I'm always striving to be the best Mom possible.
I'm very passionate about the things I love, that's why I was outraged when they cancelled SMASH and Southland! It should be considered to be a small miracle if you ever get to see a serious or pic of me posing all nice and pretty...yeah, I'm not that girl. I'm a spontaneous goof and believe the best things in life come naturally. Yes, that includes random no make-up selfies during a 2:00a.m. writing marathon.

Between a Book & a Real Place with Robyn Neeley @Crimson_Romance # 99 Cents Amazon
Its a fan-freakin-tabulous Friday up in here because I have a fabulous guest! Robyn Neeley, author of Destination Wedding and Christmas Dinner has stopped by to answer some questions. Make sure you check out Destination Wedding, available on Amazon as part of the Summer Big Deal for only 99 cents thru August 2.Thanks for stopping in Robyn, please tell me, what do you like to write, and why?
I take my Dell notebook everywhere, but my favorite place to write is in my room with a romantic comedy playing in the background. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve played Music and Lyrics or Runaway Bride this year while writing! If Richard Gere ever wanted to do a sequel and Julia Roberts wasn’t available, I could step in!
· When offered your first publishing contract did you
A) Scream
B) Jump out of your seat and run around flailing your arms chanting OMG OMG OMG
C) Pee your pants
D) B & C
E) None of the Above You’re lying if your answer isn’t B If not A-D , what was your reaction?
I was on a train platform. While I know better than to scream in a crowdJ, I was definitely losing it inside. It was actually a cool moment to get the news in the train station because I wrote what eventually became the prologue to my holiday romance, Christmas Dinner, on the train. To find out Crimson wanted to publish my book on the train two years and nine months later was a special moment.
· After how many published titles do you think it’s appropriate to write your own autobiography?
I’d love to write it now, make stuff up and hope it all comes true.
· How important to you are the names of your characters?
I enjoy the naming process. In Destination Wedding, I have two cute scenes where the characters spell at their names. For it to be cute and funny, both names had to be short and common. K-a-t-e and L-u-k-e.
· How do you go about nabbing that perfect title for your books? What are the occupational hazards of being a writer? Do you have a quote or slogan you try to live by?
I love the titles for my first two books: Destination Wedding and Christmas Dinner. They’re intentionally ironic and I’m looking forward to the day a reader shares with me their a-ha moment with the titles. There’s a reason for their simplicity and why I didn’t choose titles more mainstream.
A Maya Angela Quote that Oprah always shared on her show. “When you know better, you do better.”
· Have you ever taken the writing to the bathroom with you?
· Sometimes for me it’s the only place I can find that elusive peace and quiet. Until my 5 year old sniffs me out.
Not yet. I did once time my dosage of Nyquil to get 1000 words in! I knew I had about 20 minutes before it kicked in and I would fall asleep.
· Pantser or Plotter? I’ll have you know how proud I am that I just used these terms. Since I’ve just recently learned what they meant. Go me. Always keepin’ up with the author slang.
Ha, ha! I’m a hybrid. I start off as a pantser but at the half-way mark I start plotting.
· What do you like to write in? (i.e PJ’s and stompeez, a prom dress or perhaps a bathtub?)
Skirt and high boots if I’m at Starbucks (got to look cute!) otherwise yoga pants and comfy top.
· How do you react to a bad review?
Better than I thought I would. I actually think a mix of reviews makes you look legit. If I can learn anything from negative reviews, even better.
· Do you feel like a complete dumbo (like I do) if people ask for your autograph?
It hasn’t happened yet.
· Have you ever been a character in one of your books?
I think there is a little of me in all of my heroines. I pick up on their habits to. My wedding planner, Kate in Destination Wedding has a habit of reciting her calming mantra “I do. I do” when she is stressed. I caught myself doing that the other day!
· Would you ever play yourself in a movie or TV production of one of your books?
I’d love to be Kate in Destination Wedding she gets to kiss not only her handsome hero but his twin. LOL – not in the same scene. My mom would have a heart attack.
· Have you ever gone a little REDRUM after a few days shacked up in the ol’ writing hole?
I try to take breaks when I just need to step away. It helps unlock your mind.
· What do you think is your biggest accomplishment in writing? Your biggest failure?
Writing Destination Wedding in four months since my first book took nearly three years.
Not writing enough this summer. I’m half way done with my WIP. I wish I could wave my hand and 50,000 words would magically appear on paper.
· Do you do research for your novel? Me... I could totally walk into the Bio Buzz pick up a bong and be like..It’s for research dude! Lol (Disclaimer: These are just fun and silly hypothetical questions and answers. Its all make believe! J I really don’t walk around with a bong lol )
Hey, it’s all in the name of research, right? This isn’t as fun as your example but I did research a few Christmas tree farms for my holiday romance.
· Speaking of bongs. Have you ever written anything while drunk?
· No, I don’t think I have, but I totally should try it some time.
· Do you laugh at yourself ever?
All the time.
· How much of your childhood reflects upon your musings?
I watched a lot of Soap Operas growing up – The Newmans, Foresters, Spauldings, Hughes, and Snyders. There are so many storylines embedded in my memory that are fun to draw upon when writing. I’m currently working on a continuity project with four other Crimson Romance authors centered around a wealthy family. I’m convinced my soap opera upbringing will come in handy when I start writing my book in the series.
· How do you like these questions so far? Anything striking your fancy? Ok, moving along…
Love them!
· How do you feel about being interviewed?
Love it! Such a great opportunity to visit awesome blogs and get to know other authors and readers!
· How do you feel about global warming?
Al Gore was right. (sorry my Republican friends)
· How do you feel about Fan Fiction being published?
· Is it sad that I don’t know what this is? Clearly I need to.
·
· Are you jealous of other writers?
All the freakin time. LOL in the most supportive way possible.
· What makes you laugh? Cry?
My family. Both answers.
· Vacation or staycation? Fancy Schmancy wedding or a Vegas wedding?
Vegas for sure. In my current WIP I have a Vegas wedding and think it would be so fun. Hmmm… maybe THAT should be my research project!
· Favorite season? Mine’s football :P
Fall for sure.
· Who were some of your inspirations for writing? For your characters?
Nicholas Sparks – here’s why. I love some of his twists. The Wedding. OMG. I have a big twist in Christmas Dinner and if it is even half as good as a Sparks twist, I will be super happy.
· Did you enjoy this interview?
I loved it, but I have to ask. Where is Nathan? I thought he would be here with flowers and chocolate!
HJ: Ha!! I don’t think Jordie would be too happy with that!
Robyn, thank you so much for taking the time to stop in and give this Q&A whirl. It was a pleasure having you, and feel free to stop in whenever you please! J

Destination Wedding
{Chapter One}
"I do. I do." Wedding planner Kate Ashby quietly repeated her calming mantra. Paralyzed in her window seat, she stared at the illuminated fasten seatbelt sign while her hands gripped the metal buckle strap.
Please turn off. Please turn off. They had to be close to cruising altitude. Soon, she'd be able to request a strong drink to knock her out for the duration of this bumpy flight.
She sat still, trying to ignore the terror pulsating through her. Why hadn't she bought sleeping pills before boarding a twelve-hour flight from New York City to Hawaii? Now, that would have been the smart thing to do.
Glancing out the tiny passenger window, she clutched her gold "K" necklace. It was completely irrational to be terrified and she realized the odds of her and her fellow passengers landing safely in Honolulu were more than in her favor. Still, this was her first time flying such a long duration. Departing Manhattan this evening in turbulent thunderstorms had shot her nerves. She was grateful that her boss had sprung for a first class ticket for the long flight.
A loud rattle caused her to grab hold to her armrests. "What was that?" She turned to the stranger sitting next to her. He had short blondish brown hair and was wearing a blue blazer. His face had a nice tan. She had failed to realize that her row mate was incredibly handsome. Usually the person sitting next to her was a grandparent or couldn't speak English. Perhaps he could help her ease her nerves?
"Um ... I think it's the drink cart. Would you like something?" He folded his Wall Street Journal.
Sexy and smart.
"I'll take a tequila and tonic," he said to the flight attendant.
And likes his drinks strong. This could be fun.

Between a Book & a Real Place with Christine S. Feldman #Release day #TheBargain @Crimson_Romance
Happy Monday! Happy Monday indeed. It's release day over at @Crimson_Romance, and I was lucky enough to nab Christine S. Feldman author of Coming Home and her new one, The Bargain, released today! · Tell me, what do you like to write, and why?
Everything! Because I like to read everything, too. I love all kinds of genres, and I figure if I can just reach the top of the Bestseller list in every single one, I’ll be well on my way to world domination. Hey, it’s good to have a goal, right?
· When offered your first publishing contract did you
A) Scream
B) Jump out of your seat and run around flailing your arms chanting OMG OMG OMG
C) Pee your pants
D) B & C
E) None of the Above You’re lying if your answer isn’t B If not A-D , what was your reaction?
Actually, I was a little numb, so my initial reaction was fairly mild—like I couldn’t quite believe the email I was reading from Crimson was real and not just my poor, frazzled mind playing tricks on me. But then it started to build momentum, so, yes, there was a certain amount of dancing and repeatedly thrusting the printed email in front of my husband’s eyes. He’s very patient.
· After how many published titles do you think it’s appropriate to write your own autobiography?
Are you kidding? That’s the first book I wrote! (Hey, you’re supposed to write what you know…)
· How important to you are the names of your characters?
Very. I sift through baby name books and try on lots of names until certain ones just pop out because they feel right. They have to suit the character’s nature; if you name your tough-as-nails hero something like Ludwig, readers are going to double over laughing.
(Great. Now I’ve probably offended some author out there whose booty-kicking hero, Ludwig, does everything from disarming nuclear weapons to wielding enormous submachine guns in each hand, biceps bulging all the while. Sorry!)
· How do you go about nabbing that perfect title for your books?
I like short titles that get right at the heart of the story—like The Bargain (notice the way I squeezed that little plug for my book in there? Nice, huh?)—so I mull it over to figure out what key elements in the book might lend themselves to a short, catchy phrase. If that fails, going with a double entendre seems like a good backup plan. My husband’s really good at coming up with those…
· What are the occupational hazards of being a writer?
Ha! You mean besides an inability to pay one’s bills? How about deep depression and violent mood swings. I LOVE writing!—I HATE writing…It’s like being on a pendulum, which I suppose means that motion sickness could be a hazard, too…
· Do you have a quote or slogan you try to live by?
“Clean mind, clean body…take your pick.” Kidding. That was just something I heard on one of my parents’ old records years ago. Actually, one of my favorite quotes that’s had special meaning for me over the past few years is the one by Wayne Gretzky about how one hundred percent of the shots you don’t take don’t go in. I find it very motivating.
· Have you ever taken the writing to the bathroom with you?
· No. Do you recommend it? I suppose in some respects it could save you time…
·
· Pantser or Plotter?
· Plotter. I’m too high strung to be anything else. I’ve got to know how the story ends before I write it and exactly how I’m going to get there. (My tremendous lack of spontaneity makes me wildly popular at social gatherings; can you tell?)
·
· Would you ever play yourself in a movie or TV production of one of your books?
· Never. I couldn’t do myself justice. Heh, heh…
·
· How do you feel about being interviewed?
· Like it! J
·
· How do you feel about global warming?
· Don’t like it. L
·
· How do you feel about Antonio Sabato Jr.?
· Hey, works for me!
·
· Are you jealous of other writers?
· Why, of course not! Like any mature and well-rounded human being, I am happy for the success of folks like J.K. Rowling, Danielle Steele, Stephen King, etc. Jealous? Me? Never. [fingers crossed behind back]
·
· What makes you laugh? Cry?
· Laugh: Steve Carell
· Cry: Believe it or not, Steve Carell. (Hey, didn’t you see him in Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World? I got misty-eyed…)
·
· Did you enjoy this interview?
· Immensely. Thanks for having me!
Thanks for being a guest Christine. I read Coming Home and loved it by the way.

The Bargain- Blurb
Tomboy Shannon Mahoney has always been a lot more comfortable with things like power tools than she is with high heels or lipstick, and she often wishes she could reinvent herself and finally tell her perfect boss, Drew Kingston, that she has had a crush on him since high school. But she is just as tongue tied and awkward around him now as she ever was, and long-familiar patterns are hard things from which to break free…
Until one day Drew’s estranged older brother Michael comes to town, bringing with him a surprising opportunity for Shannon.
Ladies’ man Michael is a former bad boy looking for redemption. He is desperate to atone for past mistakes that he made with his family, but younger brother Drew has cut him out of his life and refuses to even speak to him. Which means Michael needs help getting to Drew.
And so he approaches Shannon with a proposition: if she will get Drew to agree to hear him out, Michael will mentor Shannon in how to win his brother’s heart. Suspicious of Michael’s motives, Shannon initially enters into the bargain just to make sure Michael isn’t actually in town to cause trouble for Drew, but the two unlikely allies are surprised to discover that despite butting heads at first, they are beginning to enjoy each other’s company far more than either of them expected.
And Shannon starts to realize that maybe love isn’t about reinventing yourself after all. It’s about finding your perfect match.
Short Bio: Christine S. Feldman writes both novels and feature-length screenplays, and, to her great delight, she has placed in screenwriting competitions on both coasts—and has even won a couple of them. In 2012 one of her screenplays was featured as a staged reading in New York City at the Gotham Screen International Film Festival, and later that same year she signed her first publishing contract for her debut novel, Coming Home, with a second one to follow this summer. When she is not writing, she is teaching kindergarten, puttering around in her garden, ballroom dancing with her husband, or doing research for her next project. Things that make you go GRRRRR....when you get an unjust rating bc its personal. #WriterProblems #BookReview #Goodreads
As I was going through Finding Jordie's Goodreads page prepping for the relaunch I noticed a two more 2 star ratings and connected likes on those ratings. Naturally, I needed to know how this group of people were connected. Was it a book club that read it and all hated it? Did a blogger blog something and then peeps checked it out? I like to know these things, shoot me. So I began clicking away at the likes and two stars and this is what I found out.
This was the first person that started the chain of 2 stars. Just joined GR, has read only one book, of course it was mine and she gave it two stars.
Here is the other screen shot of the lonely poor rating of FJ all by itself. Apparently it was so bad she joined goodreads just to rate it and gave up on reading forever. As the connections go on (and I wasn't SS'ing all of them) you can see their connection. Same town, same two friends, same two star rating. Same book. The only book.
What I need you all to understand is that I know Finding Jordie will not be for everyone. If you've put out there that you didn't enjoy it for such and such reason, cool. I thank you for giving it an honest go, but to shit on somebody's work just because you don't care for them as a person is childish and uncalled for. At the least don't be a chicken shit and hide behind it, own it. It just really sucks that someone would go through such lengths to sucker punch someone and belittle their work like it was a game or something.
Like I said, Two stars, No problem! I'll take it in, consider what they've said and hopefully make the ones to follow stronger. Constructive criticism is welcome, always. Vindictive, bitter and personal for whatever reason, no thanks.
Whoever did this, I am asking you to email me and tell me the shortcomings, what you liked, or didn't like. I know you can't do that though, it's obvious by your one book two star rating what your main objective was...and it stinks.

Between a Book & a Real Place with Erin Richards
Woo hoo! Today I am lucky enough to have snagged the incredible Erin Richards and her new release Vigilante nights. I read Vigilante Nights like the second I could and have my signed copy right on my fireplace mantle. I'm a fan! And before I get on with our Q&A I gotta' say I love it when peeps don't take my off beat questions too seriously and understand that it's just for entertainment purposes. LOL I don't even own a bong anymore! JK. Seriously though, its always great when my guests can have a little fun back at me. · Tell me, what do you like to write, and why?
I love paranormal and SF&F romance the best, but I also love suspense, historical, epic fantasy, and some women’s fiction. My tastes run all over the map, which turned into a similar writing taste. I started out writing romantic suspense with paranormal elements to writing fantasy romance to contemporary YA with a light supernatural element. Any story I write will have a romance because I must have a happily ever after for my characters. Now I’m working on a YA SF and an UF. Can you tell I have a problem sticking with one thing? My mind is a strange, mysterious place. It’s best not to dig too deep. J
It was a little of A & B. I squealed a little and said very quietly, “Holy crap. Oh. My. God.” I had actually just arrived at my day job office and it was ~7am and only one other person was in. I ran to her cube to tell her. There “might” have been some arm flailing, but I’ll never tell. J
· After how many published titles do you think it’s appropriate to write your own autobiography?
I guess it all depends on how exciting or profound your life is. Could be 1 book or 100, but you must have something fantastic (whether good or bad) to say that doesn’t happen to the ordinary person or why bother? Autobiographies aren’t for everyone. It’s certainly not for me, or I’d have to make it up and call it fiction!
· How important to you are the names of your characters?
Their first names have to be perfect, at least for the main characters. The names of my main characters usually come to me before I even conceive of a book. My muse is weird like that, first the character, then her/his story. Minor characters get the dregs, names that I probably wouldn’t use as a major character. I use a surname reference website to create my character’s last names based on their family origins.
· How do you go about nabbing that perfect title for your books?
Titles are nebulous. Once I get a book idea a title comes to me right away. But it may not be the perfect title. I research it on Amazon, Google, and Yahoo to make sure it hasn’t been used. During my research, I jot down words and ideas then put the right words to the theme of the book. The latest title to my YA SF book came to me from a song title while listening to the Octane channel. I guess I could write-off my Sirius/XM subscription as a business expense now!
· What are the occupational hazards of being a writer?
I hate to say it and so indelicately: butt-spread. Seriously, writers spend a lot of time sitting. I totally need to learn to write on the treadmill. LOL! Another hazard is being in my characters head in real life. Yeah…I’ve caught myself using words & phrases I wouldn’t normally use in real life. Nothing bad, just not me.
· Do you have a quote or slogan you try to live by?
“Never give up, never surrender.” If I had not listened to that, I wouldn’t be published right now. Look it up. It’s in the acknowledgements of Vigilante Nights.
· Have you ever taken the writing to the bathroom with you? Sometimes for me it’s the only place I can find that elusive peace and quiet. Until my 5 year old sniffs me out.
Not yet! But I might have brainstormed ways to put my characters in peril from the bathroom. Just don’t tell them.
· Pantser or Plotter? I’ll have you know how proud I am that I just used these terms. Since I’ve just recently learned what they meant. Go me. Always keepin’ up with the author slang. I’m so proud of you, Harley. I take that to mean you’re a panster. Come on, fess up. J I started out as a panster, until I learned about GMC charts (goal, motivation, conflict). Now, I do a high level plot outline and a GMC chart for my main characters before I start my first draft. However, my muse isn’t a 100% sold on the outline process. She usually throws in subplots of subplots so I start to veer from my outline. She’s a feisty wench, that muse of mine.
· What do you like to write in? (i.e PJ’s and stompeez, a prom dress or perhaps a bathtub?)
I write in whatever I’m wearing or in whatever room of the house I happen to be in (except the bathroom as we’ve already established, or the closets. That would be a little too weird). I use my long commutes to the day job to write scenes and brainstorm in my head. Anyway, I don’t discriminate. I play no favorites with my clothes or my writing spaces.
· How do you react to a bad review?
I bang my head on the desk, curse like a drunken sailor, and stick rusty pins in a voodoo doll. Just kidding (a little)! No one likes getting bad reviews, but it’s par for the course for all writers. Not every book is for every reader. After a short period of situational depression (where I might eat something fattening and sweet), I brush that review off my shoulder and read a good review. The good reviews make it all worthwhile, to know that I’ve entertained or touched someone with my stories. Or I read the bad reviews of one of my favorite authors. It makes me feel better to know even big-time bestselling authors get bad reviews.
· Do you feel like a complete dumbo (like I do) when people ask for your autograph? I tend to get stuck on stupid and fublerooski all my words when someone asks me for mine.
Yes! Friends of mine, a husband and wife couple, were the first persons to ask for my autograph. They had purchased my first novel in paperback before I even got my author copies from the publisher. They surprised me with it one night when I was at their house and then asked for my autograph. In my head, I’m freaking out. I’m like, what do I write? I had never signed a book before. I hadn’t even practiced. Then I was paranoid I’d spell their names wrong or screw up something. My hand shook the whole time. But I did it and it came out great!
· Have you ever been a character in one of your books?
No. Never. Nada. Seriously? Why would you ask that? I’m trying to hide in obscurity. LOL! In all honesty, there’s a little bit of me in all my main characters. For instance, the heroine of my first novel, Chasing Shadows, is a financial planner from my home town, with blonde hair. I’m my own financial planner with a good head for accounting and investing.
· Have you ever gone a little REDRUM after a few days shacked up in the ol’ writing hole?
Not really. I actually like being alone in the writing cave…with my characters and my muse taunting me. Sometimes they go a little REDRUM and drive me out of my writing hole.
· Do you do research for your novel? Me... I could totally walk into the Bio Buzz pick up a bong and be like..It’s for research dude! Lol
Oh, yeah. I wonder what someone would think if they saw my internet history. I can just hear it now. “Crazy lady was researching gang activity and switchblades. Oh, look, she even researched dark witchcraft and spells.”
· Speaking of bongs. Have you ever written anything while high on the weed, drunk on the wine or chill from the pill? I have...I’m on bottle number two.
I pass by a smoke shop on my way home from work. Does that count?
· Do you laugh at yourself ever?
Oh, hell yeah! I like to crack myself up. Laughter keeps me sane.
· How do you like these questions so far? Anything striking your fancy?
Love them. You have a lot of fun and different from the norm questions.
Ok, moving along…
· How do you feel about being interviewed?
Your interview is the bomb and you bring out a little of the mischievous Erin (or maybe that’s my muse?) Geez…some would think I had multiple personalities the way I talk about my muse. “Shut up, Erin.” No, you shut up. Wait, what was the question, Harley?
· How do you feel about global warming?
It exists. But I don’t let the increasing ill affects stop me from driving two gas-guzzling muscle cars that might contribute to pollution and global warning. Sorry…I just can’t let go of the hotrods. At least I telecommute a lot so I’m not flagrantly “emitting pollutants into the atmosphere.” Oh, yeah. I know the lingo. I got a ticket for doing just that when I was in my twenties driving my first gas-guzzling hotrod.
· How do you feel about Antonio Sabato Jr.?
I’d like to “feel” Antonio Sabato Jr. and have since I first saw him on General Hospital and Melrose Place. Yum.
· Are you jealous of other writers?
Sure, sometimes when I’m feeling down. Jealousy is a healthy and normal reaction. When I see a new author get a deal for six or seven figures, I can’t help it. But I also feel happy for them. They deserved it. I know what it took for them to get there. Writing and getting published is a tough job. You really must have a thick skin to weather the ups and downs in this business, along with a lot of patience.
· Vacation or staycation?
A little vacation and a lot of staycation. I’m not a big traveler, but I like to get out of the house now and then, when my muse allows it.
· Fancy Schmancy wedding or a Vegas wedding?
Vegas all the way, baby. I think the money from a fancy shindig has better uses for a new couple. I once got married in a Nevada casino town. I’m all for it.
· Favorite season? Mine’s football :P
Football? What is this football you speak of? And when did it become a season? Guess I’ve been living in the writing hole too long. Seriously, I've banned sports from my house. Spring is my favorite season. I love the new growth of the plants and the budding trees. There’s something appealing and energizing about a brown winter turning into a colorful spring, like the world is coming alive again.
· Did you enjoy this interview?
Yes! You are a lot of fun, Harley, and I loved your questions. I hope you enjoyed it, too. Maybe you ought to do this for a living?
HJ: Ha!! I would do this for a living but ya know Im a reallly nosy person, I'd just start pissing people off left and right. ha ha ah

Erin Richards Bio :
After lamenting the lack of young adult books to read, Erin wrote her first novel at the age of eighteen hoping to shift the tide. Then everyday life took its toll on her writerly dreams until 2003 when she couldn’t ignore the writing bug any longer. By then, she had immersed herself in reading adult fantasy and romance novels. Writing paranormal & fantasy romance was a no brainer. Erin has published two adult romance novels: CHASING SHADOWS, a paranormal romantic suspense (EPPIE award finalist and Night Owl Romance 5-Star Top Pick) and WICKED PARADISE, a fantasy romance released in August 2012. Erin finally realizes her lifelong dream of publishing a young adult novel with the debut of VIGILANTE NIGHTS in July 2013.
Erin Richards lives in Northern California. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, photography, and American muscle cars.

Between a Book & a Real Place with Andrea Cooper @Crimson_Romance #Giveaway #FreeeBook #VikingFire
Hello Tuesday! · I apologize, this is a day late! My brain is all over these days.I have the great pleasure of introducing Andrea Cooper as my guest here today. Author of The Garnet Dagger and soon to be released on July 29, 2013, Viking Fire.
Andrea is also giving away a digital copy of Viking Fire, on its release date, to one random commenter.
Tell me, what do you like to write, and why?
I love to write historical romance, fantasy and paranormal romance. There is a different reason behind the historical romance—I fell in love with history in nine grade when my European history teacher taught interesting facts rather than dates or names of battles.
For fantasy and paranormal romance they were taboo in my house growing up. I wasn’t even allowed to watch Disney movies. So of course, it only made me crave anything to do with mythical creatures or magic.
· When offered your first publishing contract did you B
A) Scream
B) Jump out of your seat and run around flailing your arms chanting OMG OMG OMG
C) Pee your pants
D) B & C
E) None of the Above You’re lying if your answer isn’t B If not A-D , what was your reaction?
· After how many published titles do you think it’s appropriate to write your own autobiography?
30?
· How important to you are the names of your characters?
Very. I had to change my hero’s name in Viking Fire because he had the same name as The History Channel’s Viking show—never mind that I wrote this novel before the show came out, I had to change it.
· How do you go about nabbing that perfect title for your books? What are the occupational hazards of being a writer? Do you have a quote or slogan you try to live by?
Titles are bad for me. I write the entire book, then sweat over the title. I still don’t think I’m brilliant at titles. So far, they all involve something in the book. For example, Viking Fire there is a literal fire in the book, but also the fire of love and passion.
The hazards of being a writer are no time and little housework done. I’m a stay-at-home mom with a three year old and an eight month old. I try to write while it’s nap time which leaves little time between taking care of them to clean the house. I have a wonderful husband though who will help cleaning in the evening after work and cook and clean on the weekend.
I guess my slogan would be don’t judge a book by its cover and don’t judge someone until you walk miles in their stilettos. Sometimes if we would just listen to someone, we might not agree with their choices, but we could understand why they chose them.
· Have you ever taken the writing to the bathroom with you? Sometimes for me it’s the only place I can find that elusive peace and quiet. Until my 5 year old sniffs me out.
Uh, no. I’ve taking my reading in there, but I’m lucky if I get a minute to myself without one or both kids crying or looking for me.
· Pantser or Plotter? I’ll have you know how proud I am that I just used these terms. Since I’ve just recently learned what they meant. Go me. Always keepin’ up with the author slang.
Pantser. I like the characters to have freedom. If they get stuck, I lay out what’s happened so far, and where I think the story needs to go. Often characters will take a different direction to reach the ending than I thought. It reminds me of my favorite quote from Robert Frost, “No surprise for the writer, no surprise of the reader; No tears for the writer, no tears for the reader.”
· What do you like to write in? (i.e PJ’s and stompeez, a prom dress or perhaps a bathtub?)
I would like to write in silence in the bathtub with a box of chocolates and a glass of wine.
· How do you react to a bad review?
Pout. Get angry, then try to flip it to a positive – like maybe they disliked it so much they won’t read anything else I write and write more bad reviews??
· Do you feel like a complete dumbo when people ask for your autograph?
I can’t say, I’ve yet for someone to ask me for my autograph.
· Have you ever been a character in one of your books?
Yes. A lot my characters are different aspects of me. How I would react if I were them in their situation at the time of the book. Sometimes the characters are completely different than me.
· Would you ever play yourself in a movie or TV production of one of your books?
Of course. Especially if they got a new camera that airbrushes and takes off pounds instead of putting them on J
· Have you ever gone a little REDRUM after a few days shacked up in the ol’ writing hole?
Not so much while I’m writing, but while editing yes.
· What do you think is your biggest accomplishment in writing? Your biggest failure?
My biggest accomplishment in my writing is getting published. My biggest failure is listening to a few critics and not proving them wrong sooner.
Yes, I love research…especially when it’s something I want to know. I don’t think I could do research for others unless it sparked my interest too. But there comes a time when I have to walk away from the research and just write the story.
· Speaking of bongs. Have you ever written anything while drunk? Do you laugh at yourself ever? How much of your childhood reflects upon your musings?
I’m a cheap date. I cannot drink more than a few drinks. I have a fine line between tipsy and sleepy to yanking my hair to keep from throwing up in the car while someone else drives way too fast going 10miles an hour. So no, I’ve never written anything while drunk…wonder if it would be any good if I tried…lolz.
I try to laugh at myself, and should do it more. But my serious characters inside my head scoff at the idea.
A lot of my childhood reflects on my musings. Even in elementary school, I was the one who designated what me and group of my friends and other kids wanted to play. I remember being in first grade and telling the neighborhood kids we’d play space vampires. I didn’t want the kids biting each other, so I told the ‘vampires’ to use their two fingers as their fangs to ‘bite’. Since I was allowed to read or watch anything with mythical creatures or magic, it became fascinating to me and has crept into my writing.
· How do you like these questions so far? Anything striking your fancy? Ok, moving along…
I love them.
· How do you feel about being interviewed?
Nervous and excited.
· How do you feel about global warming?
We need to do more to help stop it. I’m in Texas and it’s hot even in the winter.
· How do you feel about Fan Fiction being published?
I think it would be an honor if someone was fan enough of my writing to write and publish Fan Fiction.
· Are you jealous of other writers?
Sometimes. I read a book that doesn’t interest me and see it’s a best seller. Other times, no. I read a book that’s fabulous and the writer has struggled to make it known.
· What makes you laugh? Cry?
My husband and my children make me laugh. Injustice and cruelty of any kind make me cry.
· Vacation or staycation? Fancy Schmancy wedding or a Vegas wedding?
Vacation. I haven’t had one in years. I would love to take the kids and hubby on a Disney cruise…anyone got free tickets they want to get rid of?
I’ve had both a fancy and a Vegas’ style wedding—I’ll take the Vegas any day.
· Favorite season? Mine’s football :P
Autumn…not that we have one in Houston. We have summer and hot 360 days of the year, than 2 days of pleasant weather, and 2 days of cold and sometimes on leap year a day of ice.
· Who were some of your inspirations for writing? For your characters?
Inspirations for my writing are: Terry Goodkind, Anne Bishop, Yasmine Galenorn, Kim Harrison, PC Cast, Christine Feehan, Julie Garwood (her historical novels), and Sue Monk Kidd.
For my characters: All of the above and my dreams.
· Did you enjoy this interview?
Yes. Thank you for having me.
Thanks for being here Andrea! Can't wait for Viking Fire!
Blurb: Ireland is a land of myth, magic, and blood. Viking raiders have fought the Irish for over half a century. Rival Irish clans promise only betrayal and carnage.
Kaireen, daughter of Laird Liannon, is suddenly forced into an arranged marriage with her sworn enemy, a Viking. She refuses to submit. With no mention of love, only land and the protection of her clan, she endeavors to get her betrothed banished from her country. Will love find its way around her stubborn heart?
Bram, the Viking, finds himself without future or inheritance as a younger son in his family. A marriage to the Laird’s daughter would grant him land if he swears fidelity and if his men will fight along with the Liannons against any foe—Irish or Viking. However, the Laird’s feisty daughter only holds animosity for him and his kind. Is marriage worth the battle scars of such a relentless opponent?
With the blame for a rival laird’s death treacherously set against the Liannons, Kaireen and Bram must find a way to lay aside their differences as an unforeseen darkness sends death snapping at their heels.
Andrea’s Bio: Growing up in Houston, Texas, Andrea has always created characters and stories. But it wasn't until she was in her late twenties that she started writing novels.
What happened that ignited the writing flame in her fingers? Divorced, and disillusioned by love songs and stories. They exaggerate. She thought. Love and Romance are not like that in the real world. Then she met her husband and realized, yes love and romance are exactly like the songs and stories say. She is now a happy wife, and a mom to three kids (two boys and a girl).
Andrea writes paranormal and historical romance. When not writing or reading, one may find Andrea dancing in Zumba.
She believes in the power of change and counting each moment as a blessing. But most importantly, she believes in love.
Viking Fire is her second novel with Crimson Romance and is a historical romance.

Memory Lane: One of my favorite reviews.
Back in April I received one of those reviews that make your cheeks hurt from smiling so much. This was one of those reviews. I was gathering all my info to pass on to the new publisher and I came across this one. It humbles me every time I see it. Thank you so much "A Passion for Romance". My Review:WOW! What a great book :) HJ Harley, you are awesome !!! I was up til 4:30 am reading this book, I just couldn't put it down. I'm not usually a fan of first person but this was really written well!
I loved Jordie from the very beginning, her no-nonsense independent attitude and the witty banter she shares with her best friend Rachel. I always thought it'd be a blast to own a bar :) Add in that she also happens to be a mother of a 9 year old totally surprised me but with a little help from her sister in Jersey and a daughter that sometimes even resembles an adult in stature, you have one kick-ass heroine. A heroine that is totally fine with how things are... her own bar, her own apartment (buidling since she owns it) and her own rules. Until hottie Nathan enters the picture....
And enter the picture he did. I really think she fell for him from the very beginning when she was getting her but kicked by a dude 3 times her size. It was quite a nice change for Nathan to watch this little scrap of a female get knocked down and get right back up fighting. She didn't need anybody and she didn't know who he was which enabled them to form a great romance with ornery interaction which i loved, without all the pomp and circumstance at the beginning.
Unfortunately for the whole group, there is plenty of that 'pomp and circumstance', paparazzi and even a deadly darkness from Jordie's past to deal with and overcome. Our author does a tremendous job working these great characters through each sticky situation they find themselves in. With a great amount of suspense, much love, even more understanding and an unforgettable depth-developed bodyguard or two, this story turned into one of my favorites :)
I can't reveal anymore no matter how bad I want to tell you how it all ends. You just need to read it and I know you'll love it as much as I did !!!
Currently on the hunt for more HJ Harley books :) 5 stars for sure !!

Timeline for relaunch of Finding Jordie!
Good news on the re-release of Finding Jordie! I received a timeline. Its in a (quick) proofing stage and then Ill get it back next week for approval. Then when that goes back we will be working on the cover (YAY! I get to give input on it) While we work on the cover, the files will be off and being formatted for digital AND PRINT distribution. WAHHOOOOOO Finally, we get print! I can't wait. Thank you all for your patience and support through this transition.
With that being said, I am happy to say that my mind has been cleared of all things wonky and distracting and I've been bangin' away at the keys working on Jordie and Nathan's next adventure. I will admit, its sort of hard to stay focused though with a 5 year old running around who demands an entertainment schedule more jammed packed than a Carnival cruise ship schedule....its exhausting. BUT I'm glad we have this time together before she ventures off into Kindergarten in August. All day she'll be gone. I'm so not ready for that...but she sure is. LOL Anyhow, that's a whole different post. :PAlright, I'm off. I hope you;re as happy about this update as I am!
