Sharing a little ‘hidden treasure’ in Ancient Guardians: Book 3

image

image

I like to have little ‘tokens’ that represent something special in each of my books. However, this particular item does not exist anywhere! I looked for months to find a carved arrow that could represent a piece that is extremely important to one of my characters! It’s a small part in the book, but it reveals a unique part of this character that for the first time gets to jump up into a main character in the third book!

So with that said, I searched for months for a carved wooden arrow to represent this piece. I only found arrowheads…then I remembered our cousin who is a master at carving wood! He’s even carved and made Osage stickbows. After remembering this, I asked him to do a replica of what would be in my third book of The Ancient Guardians series! Without fail, he accepted the task and I am speechless with the final product!

Thank you, Scott ‘Davey’ Jones for this amazing masterpiece only you could create! This guy should be making millions with his talent of carving!!!!

I would have never thought this could relate to my book series….

image

Alright, time to reveal one of my favorite places to visit, Disneyland. Without boring everyone with all of my adventures visiting the theme park, I will just say that after you pass all the chaos and crowds to get into the gates; you walk under the archway and officially enter the park!

I always experience a shiver of excitement as I glance up at this particular sign posted as you enter this un-realistic land that Walt Disney created for all of us to escape the real world in.

For me personally; every thought, worry and stress melts away as we enter the enchanting theme park! (While my husband has already started calculating how much money we’ve already spent ;) and will do so until we exit the park.)

Anyway, it’s interesting that I should come across this particular quote today. It made me think, not only about how in some strange way it relates to the fantasy of my novel series; Ancient Guardians…but, also, all the other fantasy and fairytail novels out there!

Fantasy is meant to be unrealistic, to help you escape, when and if you need an escape from the harsh reality in real life! To also help experience things that sometimes our imaginations aren’t capable of creating on our own! And most of all, to play in new worlds and enjoy the thrilling adventure while you’re apart of it while reading.

It’s how I see fantasy novels anyway, but then again…that’s just me. We are all different and see things differently! I like to dance in the rain, while my husband hides under the porch to stay dry and just laughs at me!

Just a random post I thought I’d share! Have an adventurous day!

An honest review for Ancient Guardians The Uninvited (Book 2, Ancient Guardians)

A BIG thank you to Candy for such a detailed and honest review of The Second book in the Ancient Guardians series! As an author, it is critical for me to have honest and detailed reviews to help readers decide whether or not a book is worth their money and time! This is something I take very seriously as an indie author, for the readers, for the book and for my name as an author! I’m grateful to Candy for taking the time to read and go above and beyond my expectations for a review!

Below you will find a excerpt of her review and I hope you’ll go to her site and read the entire review! -SL Morgan

Candy loves to read Book Review of Ancient Guardians: The Uninvited.

Wow! Now this is how you write a sequel! Morgan took us to the beautiful world of Pemdas in The Legacy of the Key and brought us back for another adventure in The Uninvited (the title isn’t directed at you, you’re invited). I looked at my book rating record and it would appear that the second book in a series scores lower than the first. Not this time.

Characters

They usually get a makeover…when they didn’t need it. You spend the first book learning about them, understanding their background, getting in their head. Excited for book 2, you look forward to picking up where you left off and catch up with the characters you have come to love. Finally, you get your hands on the sequel, settle down for the reunion, and wind up with strangers thinking Who are these people? They do or say something that is so far out in left field and out-of-character that I’m checking the name and going back to the first in the series to see if I’m going crazy. Thankfully, Reece and Levi are still Reece and Levi along with Harrison and the rest of the gang. No switching out Terrance Howard for Don Cheadle for the character of James Rhodes in Iron Man. Sorry, that just bugged the crap outta me. I don’t care about the reasons why but if you are going to replace someone, make them a different character! Change the role! Anyways, Reece is her down-to-earth self (well, down-to-pemdas now), Levi the passionate and fiercely protective prince, and Harrison the ever witty and loyal friend. If there is anything different about our lovely couple, they are more affectionate and by that I mean very affectionate. Which brings me to another reason that can make or break a sequel: the chemistry.

Romance

For more on this very detailed review that will help readers decide whether or not they would enjoy the second book in the Ancient Guardians Series, please visit Candy’s blog site! I can’t thank her enough for such a detailed and most of all HONEST review of Ancient Guardians: The Uninvited (Book 2, Ancient Guardians Novel Series)

Excerpt from Ancient Guardians: The Uninvited

image

This was one of my favorite chapters to write in The Uninvited!

A lovely day on the Aegean Sea…

“I was told I needed a swimsuit for the day; please tell me you plan on getting in the water as well?” She crossed her arms and eyed his clothes. “Or do the Pemdai warriors swim in button-down shirts and slacks?” -Reece Bryant, The Uninvited.

Behind the scenes of Ancient Guardians: The Uninvited…why I chose the mysterious BLUE rose!

image

I’ve already mentioned before that I do a lot of research before bringing things into my book! A fun research project was watching an instructional video on piloting a bell helicopter on YouTube. I needed to do this if I wanted to accurately describe what a character was feeling, hearing and visualizing while sitting co-pilot in a bell helicopter!

Another type of research I do is related to symbolic ‘items’ in the book. One of them being the ‘blue rose!’ Without giving too much away, we all know that the blue rose is not a natural rose on Earth and there are many symbolic meanings for it! Well, there are many reasons my main character, Levi, is attracted to this particular rose that grows at the Oxley’s estate near the ocean, and it isn’t only because they remind him of the color of Reece’s eyes. If Reece had not been so concerned over other issues at the time, Levi would have explained to her ‘the other reason’ that he is drawn to the blue rose!

As an author and knowing this character very well, it made this particular meaning the perfect reason that Levi would be quite fond of the rose and why (at the time) he felt the need to show her them.

This is the symbolic meaning I read and it fit how Levi feels about having Reece’s love in return.

The meaning of the blue rose is that it symbolizes the impossible, or the unattainable. Since the blue rose itself is a rarity in nature, it stands for something that is hardly within one’s grasp, an object that seems too difficult to be achieved. Thus the blue rose is admired and revered as an unrealizable dream….

Source: RoseForLove.com

This meaning defines everything about how Levi feels with having Reece’s love. In The Legacy of the Key…the readers learn that Levi was in love with her long before having to bring her into Pemdas for her protection. In the Uninvited, the reader will learn how he never believed he would ever find a love like hers….

Excerpt: Levi; The Uninvited

Growing up with the burden of being an entire world’s next emperor isn’t as charming as one would believe,” he said with a laugh of disgust, “To have parents eyeing you skeptically, watching you and studying you in hopes that you would consider taking their child as a wife. To have every woman you encounter stare up into your eyes, longing for your attention, and seeing their strong desire to be the wife of an emperor is utterly repulsive to me.” Levi ran his hand along her arm. “You never looked at me in such a way.” He smiled. “Not only did you have a vibrant, strong personality, but you never changed how you interacted with me once you realized my status.”

So there you have it, a behind the scenes look at Ancient Guardians: The Uninvited

A little recreation from a scene in my book

It’s one thing to see the captivating world of Pemdas in my mind and try and describe it readers without over describing anything. It’s an entirely different thing when I am able to create it and bring it to life in my own home!!! So proud of my little creative side today!
