Chicago Comic Con & More GREAT Reviews!

Thank you to everyone who LIKED The Incubus Saga these past couple of weeks, bringing it up to well over 100, and for all the recent ratings and reviews here and on Amazon. Every bit helps.

Going to be in Chicago August 8-11? Remember I'll be there in Artist Alley at the BWN table. I'll be signing copies of Incubus Saturday from 2:30pm to 4:30pm (though I'll be at the booth most of the time in my role as Managing Editor, and will happily sign copies other times for buyers).

Also, August 22nd is still open as part of my Blog Tour with Paranormal Cravings. Let them know if you'd like to grab that day!

Chicago Comic Con Recap and MORE!

Well, updating while at Chicago Comic Con didn’t happen as I planned, since we were so (wonderfully) busy selling books. I signed and sold several copies of Incubus, as well as my previous novelette The Collector, and had a blast.

Friday and Saturday I donned my Poison Ivy costume, and managed to get an autograph from Wil Wheaton, a picture with Jason David Frank (the original Green Ranger), and an art commission by Joseph Michael Linsner (creator of one of my favorite comic heroines, Dawn). Not to mention meeting a ton of really awesome people.

If you picked Incubus up at the convention, don’t forget to leave a rating and review once you’ve finished, and I hope you enjoy it!

The next Incubus FREE eBook day is August 19th, so check out Amazon then if you haven’t gotten a copy yet. That also marks the start of my blog tour with Paranormal Cravings. I’ll post links to the mentions and reviews each day, so stay tuned!

For more about my time at the convention with BigWorldNetwork.com in Artist Alley, check out the amazing recap blog by author Daniel Mitchell here.

Amanda Meuwissen and Incubus at Wizard World Minneapolis!

I am so thrilled that Wizard World, which hosts some of the largest and most amazing comic conventions around the US, is finally coming to Minneapolis, May 2-4.

I have been to Wizard World Chicago twice and loved every minute, but this year I get to stay local.

Join me at the BigWorldNetwork.com booth in Artist Alley and purchase a signed copy of Incubus, or stop by just to chat. :-) I'll also be promoting book 2, set to come out in July.

Check me out on the Wizard World Minneapolis homepage! Scroll down to Artists and Creators and you'll find my picture and info. I hope to see some of you there!

MiniCon 2014 & New Incubus Review!

This was my third year at MiniCon in Bloomington, MN, with BWN, the first being when we only had one published title to our name, my novelette The Collector. Now we had nearly 30 to showcase.

“Minicon is a volunteer run, general science fiction convention held every year on Easter weekend in or near Minneapolis, Minnesota. Minicon is run by the Minnesota Science Fiction Society, or MNStF. Attendees of Minicon can expect to find a full slate of programming (panel discussions, readings, signings, etc.), costuming, films, gaming (open and organized), an art show, dealers, kids' programming, a science room, filk and folk music, a consuite and bar, room parties, and various special events.”

I look forward to the homebrews in the bar every year, of course, but first and foremost the people, as this smaller convention is for lovers of science fiction and is always teaming with readers—just my kind of crowd.

I'm very excited for next year’s 50th anniversary MiniCon, and plan to more heavily participate in panels, signings, and other events, thanks to some great advice and conversations from Blake Hausladen who had his release party for:

Native Silver (Vesteal, #2) by Blake Hausladen

Thank you again to the wonderful dealer room staff, volunteers, and everyone who helps put MiniCon together each year. It is always a fantastic time!

Then I returned to the grind this morning to discover a new review at Joyfully Jay, which focuses on M/M Romance reviews. Reviewer Kris' write-up is just wonderful. So thought out and just...well, had me grinning even on a Monday, so please check it out!

And stay tuned for more convention news, as I'll be at Wizard Minneapolis Comic Con in just a couple weeks!

I Met Nathan Fillion at Wizard World Minneapolis Comic Con!

Yes me, Incubus author Amanda Meuwissen, met Nathan Fillion at Wizard World Minneapolis Comic Con with my husband John, and sold out ALL of the Incubus copies I brought along! I wish I could say Nathan was one of the buyers, but his agent did stop and chat at the BigWorldNetwork.com table.

I helped man our booth in Artist Alley for great sales and conversation with Creative Director Mario Hernandez, fellow authors Meagan Hedin and Daniel Mitchell, and artist Corrie Hardin.

The highlight, though, was definitely this awesome photo and chatting with Nathan while getting his autograph. You'll notice I am dressed for the occasion as Rogue from X-Men.

CONvergence in Minnesota, FREE eBook Days, and More Blog Tours!

Wow, have things been busy. I spent my 4th of July weekend at CONvergence in Bloomington, MN, an annual convention for fans of Science Fiction and Fantasy in all media. It was a blast!

I tended the BigWorldNetwork table in the Dealer Room with the publisher's Creative Director, Mario Hernandez, and we sold several copies of Incubus and its sequel Changeling to eager readers.

description

The best moment was probably the very last pair of books I sold. I wrote a personal inscription in Incubus when I signed it, but since I also had Changeling to sign, I continued a tradition I'd started on day one by simply putting "This one has more sex ;-)". The woman who bought them came back to hug me for giving her the best inscriptions ever. I love people who love to read (and who love good humor and good sex).

I also had the pleasure of meeting one of my lifelong heroes, Marina Sirtis, who played my favorite female Star Trek character, Deanna Troi, and also voiced one of my favorite characters of all time, Demona from Disney's Gargoyles. She was amazing!

Today also marks the start of my most recent FREE eBook days for Incubus, July 8-12. Right now it stands at #48 in Gay Fiction.

And on top of the con and book deals, throughout it all, my blog tour with Enchanted Book Promotions continues. Take a look at the stops you may have missed below.

Blog Tour, MCBA Fall Con Recap, and more!

First of all, wow, thank you so much for the amazing tour with Goddess Fish Promotions. I had 110 people enter the raffle during the tour for a free eBook copy of both books. The winner was a dear and now has her prize, but I want to thank all of you for participating.

This past Saturday was the Midwest Comic Book Association (or MCBA)'s Fall Con, a yearly, one day event for comic book creators, authors, and artists to peddle their wares for fans. It was a blast. You can read more about the experience at the BigWorldNetwork blog, which also has links to more photos.

Lastly, I wanted to share some comments from the BWN site, where currently what will be book 3 of The Incubus Saga is being serialized. The commenter first had some great questions and suggestions for continuity fixes when I return to revise the episodes for the book - a huge help, as always! And then they had this to say:

"I downloaded book two from Amazon, and binge read it in a day. Now I can’t wait for Thursdays. I like that I don’t need to wait for the next book to be released. I’ve looked up other supernatural, gay, adventure, love stories. They are out there, but 99.9% of them are wolf and/or vampire. I don’t want to read gay Twilight. :( You using other supernatural legends makes for interesting reading. Thank you for continuing your series."

My pleasure! And there is plenty more to come. Stay tuned!

Meet the Author at Coming Conventions!

It's almost that time of year for me again, so I wanted to give everyone a heads up of the conventions I will for sure be at this Spring.

First, MiniCon, which is having it's 50th anniversary. Located once again at the Double Tree in Bloomington, MN, it's a smaller, literary specific con, but always with amazing people, and they have free craft beer. Seriously good stuff. See me in the dealer room.

Second, Wizard World Minneapolis, the second year this Comic Con has graced my fair city. This convention is HUGE, and was an amazing success last year at the Minneapolis Convention Center. Celebrities galore, and tons to look at. I'll be in Artist Alley.

I will have copies of Incubus, Changeling, and my novelette The Collector available for purchasing, and will happily sign copies.

As always, I will also be in costume. This year the hubby and I are going as a pair - Margaery Tyrell and Renly Baratheon from Game of Thrones.

description

I've created a unique new look rather than copy one of the costumes Margaery has been seen in on the show, but the final pieces came together last night and I am really excited. Plus the hubby looks so good in his gold tunic and crown.

I hope to have a few more conventions for the year, and will keep you posted. I'm dying to get to an anime con - partly because it has been TOO long, and because I know my fellow yaoi fans will enjoy The Incubus Saga.

Let me know if I'll be seeing you at either of these conventions this year, and let me know if there are any I should NOT pass up near Minnesota.

The Incubus Saga Fanart - Sasha and Nathan Slow Dancing

I can't believe this commission is almost 6 years old, back in the early stages of Incubus, before I was ready to share the original story with the the world.

This is a slightly tweaked version of the fanart from Fiouri who I commissioned at y!gallery in 2009. I'd link directly to the site for you, but it's NSFW. :-) Google if you dare.

BWkiss

I wanted to capture when Nathan and Sasha are slow dancing late at night in a missing/alluded to scene, and I think this is just about perfect. And hey, one of the few times I've gotten Sasha's wing tattoos in a picture. Very cool design choice. I always have a hard time describing exactly how they should look, and love seeing different interpretations.

I think getting fanart of my characters and stories is one of the most exciting things. It's actually a tradition for me to get some sort of commission whenever I go to large enough conventions that they have an artist alley, like at the upcoming Wizard World Minneapolis.

Last year I got an amazing picture of me cosplaying as Rogue from X-Men, but as The Incubus Saga is drawing to a close, I think I'll have to think of a new commission for the boys...
