Darlene Franklin and Free Books!

Before we address today's featured author, I want to announce that the winner of the signed copy of Hope in My Heart, by Alexis Gorin, is:
tumcsec@ . . .
Congratulations! I'll email you for your address today and we'll get your book right out to you.

And now let's visit with novelist Darlene Franklin, author of Inspirational historical e-romance, Infusion of Love (Forget Me Not Romances, January 2016).

She is an active member of Oklahoma City Christian Fiction Writers, American Christian Fiction Writers, and the Christian Authors Network. She has written over fifty books and more than 250 devotionals.
Her historical fiction ranges from the Revolutionary War to World War II, from Wyoming to Vermont.
Please tell us three random things we might not know about you.
--I grew up in Maine.
--I love practicing my Spanish.
--I’m hoping the Broncos win the 50th Super Bowl.
Please tell us a bit more about the plot of your novel.

Will the arrival of a tea shipment in Greenwich push Jothan and Mahala further apart—or give them a common taste for herbal infusions?
What is it about Mahala that will make your readers care about her?
Mahala’s wealth attracts a lot of attention, but few true friends. She harbors secrets that show she is more than an heiress. In addition to her charity work, she’s the anonymous cartoonist in the local paper. Her sharp mind helps her to see all sides of a disagreement—but once she’s made up her mind, nothing will stop her.
If you were the casting director for the film version of your novel, who would play your lead roles?

In the same vein, if your novel were made into a film, what’s one song you’d love to feature in it?
I’m showing my lack of knowledge of the current music scene. But I typed in “freedom isn’t free” and found a great song of that name (except for a couple of x-words I wouldn’t want on any film of mine) by Parker Randolph.
What is the last novel you read that you would recommend?
I finally read all the novellas in Christmas Traditions (I wrote one of them) and loved it!
I would recommend the Garrison Gage mystery series by Scott William Carter. I liked The Gray and Guilty Sea well enough to buy the next book in the series. It’s a mystery, great characters, a strong sense of setting.
What are you working on now?
I’m in the middle of three projects. I’m just starting A Taste of Honey, a historical novella about a prize-winning baker and the beekeeper who stands in her way. It’s one of nine novellas in Blue Ribbon Brides, coming out from Barbour in November.
I’m also editing the first book in a new mystery series, Case Closed in the Murder By the Case series. Carlie Cooper, a home health aide, discover her 80 year old client dead in bed—and suspects foul play. Since I want to publish the series fairly close together, I won’t release it until I get book two written.
And the project closest to my heart is a series of devotionals from Genesis – Revelation. I’ve just released Beginnings: 30 Days in Genesis – Exodus. I hope to release the second book in March.

Alexis Goring and Free Books!

Before we address today's featured author, I want to announce that the winner of the signed copy of A Reluctant Melody, by Sandra Ardoin, is:
bjtower@ . . .
Congratulations! I'll email you for your address today and we'll get your book right out to you.
I encourage readers to keep commenting and/or subscribe at right (above my list of books) in order to participate in future book give-aways! Subscribers are entered a second time when they comment.
And now let's visit with novelist Alexis Goring, author of the Inspirational romance collection, Hope in My Heart: A Collection of Heartwarming Stories (WestBow Press, November 2015) *Originally published by Crossbooks in 2013.

But for now, she’s enjoying daily adventures of seeing where God leads. She’s working on her second novella and pursuing her MFA in Creative Writing.
Alexis loves to shop at her favorite stores, write stories and spend time with loved ones. Church and the bookstores are like her second home. She loves to connect with people and teach them about Jesus Christ, which is what she does through her blog, “God is Love.”
Please tell us three random things we might not know about you.
-- I’d love to be an award-winning actress.
-- I’d love to be a successful singer.
-- The Goring Hotel in London, England is a five-star place that happens to be spelled exactly like my last name and is where Princess Kate Middleton spent her last night as a single lady (the day before her wedding).
Please share a sentence or two about the plot of each short story in Hope in My Heart.
Three short stories, unrelated to each other, compose my novella.
“Love Unexpected” is the first story, in which the two main characters—Sebastian and Chandra—are brought together by a car crash, but their relationship does not have smooth sailing.
“The Best Gift” is the second story, in which three main characters—Christina, Jordan and Joshua—discover that the “best gift” that they can receive at Christmas may not be what they wanted, but it can be what they need!
“Peace and Love” is the third story, which focuses on Elle (a “starving artist”), Eric (a divorce attorney) and Kristine (an adopted young woman who is hoping to find her birth mom). This story is also set at Christmas time, but is filled with plot twists that lead to a happy ending.
Yes, I’ll admit that all of my stories have a happy ending but not without a bunch of surprises and unexpected detours, trials and life events!
Write one or two sentences about each lead character from each of the stories. Tell us what it is about them that will make readers care.
“Love Unexpected”: Chandra is the career-oriented woman who excels in the workplace but fails at romantic relationships. Sebastian is the classic Tall, Dark and Handsome heartthrob who is used to having a way with women, until he meets Chandra who appears to be 100 percent resistant to his good looks and charisma. I think that most people know a “Chandra” or “Sebastian” type of person in the real world and will relate to Chandra and Sebastian’s character arcs.
“The Best Gift”: Christina is a carb-loving woman on a diet and exercise routine because she wants to be fit and fabulous for her sister’s winter wedding. What woman cannot relate to fighting the “battle of the bulge” and wanting to look nice for a wedding? Jordan is a serial dater who’s under pressure from her Mom to get serious about a man and marry him. Usually it’s the daughter’s biological clock that is ticking, not the Mother’s. So I think my readers will enjoy that twist. Joshua’s dream girl dumped him while he was down on one knee (he proposed, she said “No”). He dreams of reuniting with her and working things out but I think my readers will appreciate the faith journey that Joshua takes to God’s heart (not the heart of his dream girl).
“Peace and Love”: Elle is the classic “starving artist” who wants nothing more than to have job stability and financial blessings from God to shower down on her life. I think that most creative types will understand Elle’s journey. Eric is a divorce attorney who is still reeling from his own parents’ dramatic divorce. He hopes to deal with his issues and move on. I believe anyone who’s dealt with divorce will relate to Eric’s story. Finally, Kristine who was adopted and is newly engaged, hopes to find her birth mom and establish a forever relationship before her wedding day. Just about anyone who was adopted or adopted a child should be able to identify with Kristine’s story.
If you were the casting director for the film version of your novel, who would play your lead roles?

Those established actors featured on my book’s storyboard via Pinterest are my first ideas with the actors that I know of now but I’d love to work with the movie industry professionals to host casting calls in case there are other actors out there (new or famous) who would be a better fit for portraying my fictional characters.
In the same vein, if your novel were made into a film, what’s one song you’d love to feature in it?
"Fight Song" by Rachel Platten! Here’s the link to her official music video for that song on YouTube.
What is the last novel you read that you would recommend?
Tender Mercies by Mary Manners was the last novel that I read and would recommend because the author draws the reader in within the first few pages, captivating their imagination and keeping their interest until the very end. I loved how Mary Manners brought the heroine, Lexi Taylor, and the hero, Cooper Jackson, together. Manners knows how to introduce each scene in a way that drops you as the reader into the action and makes you feel like you're walking through the plot with the fictional characters.
What are you working on now?
I am working on my second novella. It’s about characters that want a second chance at life and romance.

Sandra Ardoin and Free Books!

Before we address today's featured author, I want to announce that the winner of the signed copy of Chapel Springs Survival, by Ane Mulligan, is:
crystalwriter@ . . .
Congratulations! I'll email you for your address today and we'll get your book right out to you.
I encourage readers to keep commenting and/or subscribe at right (above my list of books) in order to participate in future book give-aways! Subscribers are entered a second time when they comment.
And now let's visit with novelist Sandra Ardoin, author of the Inspirational historical romance, A Reluctant Melody (Heritage Beacon Fiction, an imprint of Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas, January 2016).

A wife and mom, she’s also a reader, football fan, NASCAR watcher, garden planter, country music listener, antique store prowler. She lives in a North Carolina town that takes its history seriously.
Please tell us three random things we might not know about you.
-- I once rode my pony in a parade—fun, but long day.
-- I became a mother for the first time at thirty-five.
-- I prefer the mountains to the beach.
Please tell us a bit more about the plot of A Reluctant Melody.

Here is a short summary:
Kit's alcoholism ruined more lives than his own. Now sober, he wants to make amends by opening a mission for drunkards. But the most suitable location belongs to Joanna Cranston Stewart, a love from his sordid past.
Friends of her late husband blame Joanna for his death. Although eager to flee from the rumors, she will let the walls of her rundown property crumble around her before she allows Kit back into her life.
When a blackmailer threatens to reveal Joanna’s long-held secret, will she risk losing everything she owns to Kit … including her heart?
What is it about Joanna and Kit that will make your readers care about them?
I have two main characters, Joanna Stewart and Kit Barnes. For me, Joanna takes center stage. Her story has the most emotional depth. They both must come to grips with the mistakes of their pasts, but Joanna was dealt a harder blow. It affected her circumstances and attitude for years. We have a tendency to relive past sins and the guilt over and over, so I hope Kit’s and Joanna’s experiences will help readers remember that God does forgive and forget.
If you were the casting director for the film version of your novel, who would play your lead roles?

In the same vein, if your novel were made into a film, what’s one song you’d love to feature in it?
That’s easy. It would be Arthur Sullivan’s “Let Me Dream Again.” It’s mentioned in the book—first and last pages, actually. Sadly, I’ve scoured the internet for a recording with no luck. But when I read the words and remember the composer of the music is the Sullivan half of Gilbert and Sullivan, I can’t imagine it’s not wonderful and romantic.
What is the last novel you read that you would recommend?
I recommend novels all the time on my blog where I review books. So, let’s go with highly recommend. That would be The Mistress of Tall Acre by Laura Frantz. It’s a historical I couldn’t wait to add to our church library. (I assist there, recommending fiction purchases.) It’s a beautiful book, filled with gothic touches reminiscent of Jane Eyre or Rebecca, two of my all-time favorites.
What are you working on now?
I’m writing the first book in what I hope will be a contracted, three-book, historical romance series set in Texas in 1886-1887. I’m also brainstorming a series of three historical romance novellas about three women whose travels take them on romantic adventures.

Finally, what question would you like to ask my readers?
It’s rare that I don’t finish reading a book. It’s almost like an obligation, so if I start one, I feel guilty if I don’t finish. Besides being bored with it, what is one thing that will keep you from finishing a book?
Thanks, Sandra, for visiting with us and telling us about your novel.

Before we address today's featured book, I want to announce that the winner of the signed copy of Be Still...and Let Your Nail Polish Dry, by Kristin Billerbeck, Andrea Boeshaar, Sandra D. Bricker, Gwen Ford Faulkenberry, Diann Hunt, Loree Lough, Debby Mayne, Cynthia Ruchti, and myself, is:

And now let's revisit with author Ane Mulligan, author of the Southern women's novel, Chapel Springs Survival (Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas, December 2015).

A novelist and playwright, Ane is the President of Players Guild@Sugar Hill, a new community theater and president of the award-winning literary site, Novel Rocket.
She resides in Sugar Hill, Georgia, with her artist husband, chef son, and a dog of Biblical proportion.
Please tell us three random things we might not know about you.
-- As disorganized as I am, being a right-brained creative, I’m actually a good organizer. If only I could apply that to my office.
-- I love rainy days. They put me in a wonderful creative place. Don't ask me why, though. I have no idea, since I love sunny days, too.
-- I love to cook; I just hate to think up a dinner menu. I’ve been married longer than I am old (I’ll leave it to you to figure that out) and I’m over thinking up what to fix for dinner. My characters and stories take up that part of my brain. So tell me what to make and I’ll happily fix it.
I've become a bit of a Pinterest addict because of that last one, Ane. So many good ideas out there!
Please tell us a bit more about the plot of Chapel Springs Survival.

Lydia Smith is happily living alone and running her spa—then the widow on the hill becomes a blushing bride. Then her groom's adult son moves in—on everything.
From the first sighting of a country music star in The Painted Loon, Chapel Springs is inundated with stargazers, causing residents to flee the area. When her best friends put their house on the market, Claire is forced to do something or lose the closest thing to a sister she’s got. With her son's future at stake and the town's problems to solve, it's Claire's who needs a guardian angel.
What is it about Claire that will make your readers care about her?
Claire is a loyal friend who tries to do the right thing. Unfortunately, she often sticks her foot in her mouth because she speaks without any forethought. She also moves without thinking first, which has gotten her into a few pickles. She loves God but gets frustrated when He doesn’t tell her what He’s doing. (Sound like us?)
Sadly, yes!
Since I wrote an endorsement for this novel, I'll include it here:
In her entertaining follow-up to Chapel Springs Revival, Ane Mulligan brings us back into Claire Bennett's ever-bustling life. There are enough challenges and conflicts here to keep Claire constantly on her toes, and you'll love her for her vulnerability and strong perseverance against withering odds. Claire may not always get it right, but she tries so hard, you just know she and Chapel Springs are sure to survive.
If you were the casting director for the film version of your novel, who would play your lead roles?

For the others, I chose photos from magazines and not actors. I’m not sure who I’d choose for the others.
In the same vein, if your novel were made into a film, what’s one song you’d love to feature in it?
You Make Me Feel So Young . If your readers read the first book in this series, Chapel Springs Revival, they’ll have seen Claire and her best friend, Patsy, revive their marriages. Claire isn’t ready to be old. She doesn't’ feel old. And with her marriage back on a firm foundation, she’s so in love with her husband.
What is the last novel you read that you would recommend?
Summer at Hideaway Key , by Barbara Davis. I love beach books, as you know, Trish, from your Beach Dreams and Sunset Beach. I wish I could write them, but so far, all mine take place in north Georgia. Anyway, Summer at Hideaway Key drew me into its setting, and she threw in a couple of twists I never saw coming. I love it when an author can do that.
What are you working on now?
The fourth book in the Chapel Springs series, Life in Chapel Springs. The third book, Home to Chapel Springs released in May of 2015.

Where else can readers find you online?
You can find me at my website, or on Novel Rocket, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Google+

Finally, what question would you like to ask my readers?
What is your favorite setting for a book?

And now let's chat with novelist Jennifer Slattery, author of missional novel, Intertwined (New Hope Publishers, September 2015).
What is "missional fiction," you ask? Here's what Jennifer has to say about that:
My publisher has created their own genre, which is “missional fiction”. Missional fiction is fiction that focuses on the central truths of the gospel and, hopefully, propels readers to take action and become a part of God’s unfolding kingdom story. You can read more about New Hope Publisher’s books in this article, written by their acquisitions editor: newhopepublishers.com
A bit about Jennifer:

She loves pointing women to Christ and their calling and specifically, helping writers grow in their craft. To that end, she works as a copyeditor for Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolina’s Firefly imprint, a rapidly growing publishing house that publishes authentic books with real characters dealing with real-life struggles.
When not reading, writing, or editing, she enjoys spending time with her real-life hero of 20 years and their college-aged daughter.
Please tell us three random things we might not know about you.
--I love peanut butter and ice cream, preferably mixed together.
--I had a strange obsession with William Shakespeare in my teenage years.
--I find leisurely strolls and quiet picnics more romantic than five-star restaurant dinners.
Please tell us a bit more about the plot of Intertwined.

My hero, Nick, has also experienced some incredibly deep emotional pain, and being the protector/provider he is, has blamed himself for it. To heal, he has to learn to forgive himself and release his self-loathing.
Both my hero and heroine need to learn to rest in Christ’s grace.
What is it about Tammy that will make your readers care about her?
I think Tammy reveals a struggle most women face in today’s society. Many of us work outside the home, and we can feel incredibly passionate about our careers. I believe we all have a desire to leave a positive impact on our world.
But we also want to be there for our kids. Many times those two desires clash, and we find ourselves pulled between the two. So as readers read about Tammy’s struggle to balance her work, which she believes to be a calling, and her role as a mother, I believe they will be encouraged in their journey of working motherhood (or being a mother in ministry).
Write one sentence for us that tells us something about your main character as a child.
As her parents’ only daughter, and with a fiercely independent brother, Tammy’s always felt the need to prove herself.
Yet another reason many readers will identify with her, or at least sympathize with her.
What is the last novel you read that you would recommend?
I just read Redeeming Love for the second time, the first being when it first came out. And oh, my word—still one of my favorites!
What are you working on now?
I just finished what I hope to be book three in my Midwestern Romance series and recently signed a contract for book two, tentatively titled Freedom to Love. I don’t have a release date for it yet, but here’s the blurb:
Three people held back by regret but one God to help them rise above.
Angela Meadows is ready for a clean slate, to launch a career, and to embrace her newfound freedom in Christ. But self-loathing and remorse for a life forever lost hold her back. When she encounters a single mom married to an incarcerated felon and her children, Angela’s shame becomes swallowed by something greater—compassion. Her past draws her to them, but will it drive away the only man she loves?

Finally, what question would you like to ask my readers?
What are the top three novels you’ve read this year?
Great question! It's always great to get book recommendations. I would invite readers to include favorite books even if they're outside the inspirational genre. Many of us read a wide variety of books. But let us know if the book is mainstream, please.
Thanks, Jennifer, for visiting with us and telling us about your novel.

Cookies and Kisses and Free Books!

Four childhood friends keep their beloved holiday tradition of a sleepover and Christmas cookie exchange that they started as teenagers.
Before we look at this week's book give-away, I want to announce that the winner of the signed copy of Christmas Tails by Walter T. Mouse, by Jim Jeffers, is:
Swpaynter@ . . .
Congratulations! I'll email you for your mailing address, and we'll get your book to you right away.
I encourage readers to keep commenting and/or subscribe at right (above my list of books) in order to participate in future book give-aways! Subscribers are entered a second time when they comment.
And now I want to draw your attention to the fun Christmas e-romance collection, Cookies and Kisses, which I wrote with author friends, Debby Mayne, Cecelia Dowdy, and Lynette Sowell. The collection includes these four romance novellas:

Kissing Carly , by Debby Mayne: In spite of the fact that David has shown interest in Carly, she doesn't give in to her own attraction for him. She's intimidated by the fact that he's one of the most eligible bachelors in town and adored by all. Besides, her own parents couldn't make their marriage work, so why should she think she'd do any better at romance? After a tragedy strikes, they're thrown together in an unusual way. Is it possible for Carly and David to see what they have between them? A few surprises are in store for her when she joins her friends for their annual cookie exchange.
Loving Luke , by Cecelia Dowdy: When Kim Taylor returns to Bethlehem to run her family’s cookie shop, her life is in shambles, plus she also doesn’t get along with her dad. She longs to fix the broken relationship she has with her father. She’s stunned when Luke Barnes, her former high school boyfriend, strolls into her cookie shop. Recently widowed, Luke has returned to Bethlehem to raise his daughter, Lisa, in a wholesome environment. Seeing Kim causes Luke’s dormant feelings to unfurl, but, falling for Kim is not on his agenda right now. Luke is struggling with a problem, and it looks like Kim is the only person that can help him solve his dilemma. Luke has already hurt her once, so, can she find the courage to trust him again?
A Recipe for Family, by Lynette Sowell: Heather Lambert is a single mom raising her seven-year-old daugher, Jenna with the help of her parents. She's managed to finish her marketing degree and works as head of marketing for Lambert Farms. Jenna's father moves back to town and says he's ready to be a part of Jenna's life. He realizes how much time he's lost with Jenna and regrets his earlier immaturity. It was easier to send a child support check every month instead of trying to build a relationship with his daughter. Jason sets out to woo Heather and convince her he's ready to be a father now. But then right before Christmas, a possible job offer comes up, one that would take him away--again.
The collection is available for purchase through the following button:
And I'm going to give a free copy of the e-collection to one of the commenters who answers the following question:
How are you doing with your Christmas preparations? Done shopping? Decorating? Baking? Making family plans? Or are you taking a less busy approach? How so?
I'll send an e-copy of the book to the winner of my drawing on Monday, December 21. To enter, leave a comment below in answer to my question, above. "Please enter me" won't get you entered.

Sunni Jeffers, Walter T. Mouse (Jim Jeffers), and Free Books!

Before we meet today's author, I want to announce that the winner of the signed copy of Love Finds You on Christmas Morning, by Debby Mayne and myself, is:
teamob4@ . . .
Congratulations! I'll email you for your mailing address, and we'll get your book to you right away.
I encourage readers to keep commenting and/or subscribe at right (above my list of books) in order to participate in future book give-aways! Subscribers are entered a second time when they comment.
And now let's chat with novelist Sunni Jeffers and her husband Jim Jeffers, who is the author of the illustrated Christmas collection of humorous and nostalgic ranch adventures, Christmas Tails by Walter T. Mouse (Jim Jeffers, December 2015).
Tell us about yourself and Jim, Sunni.

But then he met Walter. That’s Walter T. Mouse, our resident ranch hand. Walter is a fount of country tales, woodsy wisdom, and wacky humor. Walter says, “No one ever reads Christmas letters ‘cause there ain’t nothin’ interesting in them. I write excitin’ things that happen at the ranch ‘cause that’s what people want to read.”
And it seems he’s right. His Christmas letters have delighted our family and friends for years. My husband Jim finally compiled Walter’s stories into a charming Christmas book. So this year I’m introducing Jim Jeffers and Walter T. Mouse, a great writing duo.
Please tell us three random things we might not know about you two.
--Jim and I are living our fourth lifetime together. Ten years of Navy life, eighteen years operating a security sales and service business, seventeen years as ranchers, raising Scottish Highlanders, hay, timber, and assorted livestock, and now four years on the road full time. Walter is traveling with us, and all three of us are writing “on the road.”
--I’m not afraid of snakes. I’ll pick up most of them (non-poisonous). But don’t ask me to climb a ladder.
--I’m a foodie. Love creating new recipes. Sometimes it works out great. Sometimes, not so much. Jim and Walter try them all. I’ve posted some of my best successes on my website.
Oh, your life sounds so fun!
Please tell us a bit more about the plot of Christmas Tails with Walter T. Mouse.

Walter T. (the) Mouse takes on bank robbers, ice-skating dogs, cats, chickens and Scottish Highland cows. He’s a helpful mouse, which gets him, and Jim, in plenty of trouble, but he always manages to save the day. His stories contain at least a smidgen of truth, and they’re delightful for the entire family.
What is it about Walter that will make your readers care about him?
Walter is getting on in years, and he’s a bit tattered. Life on a ranch is hard work, don’t you know?
But that doesn’t stop him. He’s full of life and a love for adventure, and he isn’t afraid to take on anything. Living in the country, he has accumulated a wealth of homespun wisdom and humor over the years.
He loves to spin a good tale, and doesn’t mind embellishing the truth a bit to make it more interesting. He’s wily and sometimes gets into things and places he doesn’t belong, but he’s loving and loyal. He has saved the day many a time. And he’s happy to tell you all about it.
Write one sentence for us that tells us something about Walter as a little one.
Walter loved exploring, especially around the ranch house, and he was faster than all the other mice, which served him well.
What is the last novel you read that you would recommend?
Walter is enjoying Humor for the Holidays: Stories, Quips, and Quotes for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years , a fun compilation by lots of wonderful authors. Jim and I love it, too.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on a brand new Christmas novella for Guideposts Books series, Miracles of Marble Cove. It will be out in time for next Christmas.
Walter and Jim are working on a new collection, Ranch Tails, with more stories of life at Gold Hill Ranch.
Where else can readers find you online?
Sunni’s website is www.sunnijeffers.com.
Walter’s website is www.waltertmouse.com
The book can be purchased online via the following button:
Finally, what question would you like to ask my readers?
If you had a friendly mouse living in your house, what would be his (or her) funniest Christmas story from your house?
That's a tough one! Readers, you can keep it short--just tell us in a sentence or two what it would involve.
Thanks, Susan, Jim, and Walter, for visiting with us and telling us about your novel.
Readers, Walter has offered to give an signed copy of his book to the winner of our drawing on Monday, December 14. To enter, leave a comment below in answer to Susan's question, above. "Please enter me" won't get you entered. The drawing is done by email, so leave your email address, like so: trish[at]trishperry[dot]com.

Today I'm featuring the Christmas book I wrote with Debby Mayne a few years ago, Love Finds You on Christmas Morning (Summerside/Guideposts). Next week I'll give away a signed copy of the book to one of the commenters to today's post.
Here's a quick summary of the two-story set:
Two women receive marriage proposals in the same house— 85 years apart. Love finds a home on Christmas morning in two heartwarming holiday stories.
Deck the Halls , by Debby Mayne
In 1925, the wealthy William Tronnier becomes smitten with the lovely but penniless Lillian Pickard. As Christmas descends on the picturesque town of Cary, North Carolina, William plans to make Lillian a proposal she can’t refuse.
'Tis the Season, by Trish Perry
In this contemporary romance, Nikki Tronnier moves back home to Cary, North Carolina, with plans to buy back the beloved Tronnier family home built by her great-grandfather, William, for his bride, Lillian. But before she is able to make an offer, the handsome Drew Cornell buys the house just before Christmas.

Melody Carlson and Free Books!

Before we meet today's author, I want to announce that the winner of the e-copy of Island Christmas, by Kimberly Rose Johnson, is:
vherlock@ . . .
Congratulations! We'll get your e-book to you right away.
I encourage readers to keep commenting and/or subscribe at right (above my list of books) in order to participate in future book give-aways! Subscribers are entered a second time when they comment.
And now let's revisit with novelist Melody Carlson, author of the feel-good Christmas novella, The Christmas Joy Ride (Revell, September 2015).

Melody and her husband have two grown sons and one granddaughter. They live in Oregon, splitting their time between the mountains and the coast.
Please tell us three random things we might not know about you.
-- I would love to be a house-flipper . . . maybe someday.
-- I love to travel and ‘camp’ in our motor-home, which looks a lot like the one on this book-cover.
-- I plan to keep writing books into my old age (and many people in my family lived to nearly 100).
I think the cover of this book looks so fun. I can see the pleasure of touring the country in one of those.
Please tell us a bit more about the plot of The Christmas Joy Ride.

Joy entices her young neighbor Miranda, who is disenchanted with life, to join her. Together they plan to drive an old motor-home, gaudily decorated for the holidays, from Chicago to Phoenix. Spreading Christmas cheer in some unexpected places, the two women encounter numerous surprises and some life-changing moments along the way.
What is it about Joy and Miranda that will make your readers care about them?
Joy Jorgenson is a perennial optimist—her greatest joy comes from helping others. Miranda Fortner has been beat up by life—recovering from a bad divorce, she’s about to lose her home to foreclosure.
If you were the casting director for the film version of your novel, who would play your lead roles?

What a great image for that character!
What is something in your writing-industry experience that made you laugh or at least smile?
The nearly daily letters that I get from teen girls who’ve read TrueColors or Diary of a Teenage Girl series almost always brings a big smile to my heart. And sometimes they make me laugh too.
There's nothing like reader mail to remind you that you're doing the right thing.
What is the last novel you read that you would recommend?
The Senator's Choice by Noel Nash (a pen name for a friend of mine) but I just read this to endorse it and it’s really good! My husband liked it too. It releases soon.
What are you working on now?
I’m just finishing my final Dear Daphne book (book 4) titled A Will, a Way, and a Wedding.

Where else can readers find you online?
I’m on facebook and my website is www.melodycarlson.com
The book can be purchased online via the following button:

Finally, what question would you like to ask my readers?
I’m always curious as to where readers get their books, and if they prefer eBooks or print.
Thanks, Melody, for visiting with us and telling us about your novel.
Readers, Melody has offered to give signed copy of her book to the winner of our drawing on Monday, November 30. To enter, leave a comment below in answer to Melody's question, above.
