Signing recap and new sale alert
Thanks so much to everyone who came out to my signing at Malaprops in Asheville, NC on Saturday! I had a great time chatting with you, and Malaprops as usual put on a fabulous event. If you missed it and you want to get a signed copy of The Beautiful Ashes, I left behind several that Malaprops can ship to you nationally or even internationally. Go here for ordering details.
I also had a chance to meet with Kim from My Thoughts Exactly blog on Saturday. Kim is very brave - she recorded her interview with me and then transcribed it on her blog. Why do I call that brave? Because if you have met me in person, you know that I ramble. A lot, plus sprinkle phrases like "you know" "I mean" and "as far as" in almost every sentence I utter (it's a terrible habit! Thank God I write instead of work as a public speaker!) Plus, you could create a drinking game from how many times I start a sentence with the word "And," so Kim was a real trooper for weeding through that recording and making me sound semi-coherent in her post. She's also a seriously sweet person, so check out the interview with me and her blog. We talked about influential books, taking criticism, fan fiction and more, so maybe I answered something that you've been wondering about *wink*.Next signings stops this week are:

Next up were interviews and excerpts. If you didn't see them already, I have an interview with an exclusive except from The Beautiful Ashes on Maryse's Book Blog, so go there to check it out. I also had an interview on the USA Today blog here, where (among other things) I talk about which of my male vampire characters that my new hero, Adrian, reminds me of. Then over on the Huffington Post blog, I talk about my favorite New Adult books and why I loved them.
Now, I know what some of you are thinking: "Sure, all that is nice, but what are you doing for me TODAY, Jeaniene?" *wink* Well, here's what! Audio book lovers (and anyone who's curious about audio books), I have an interview with my fabulous narrator, Tavia Gilbert, up at Audio Book Gals and they're giving away ten audio downloads of The Beautiful Ashes, so head on over there to hear the interview and to enter for your chance to win.
Over at The Reading Cafe, they have an interview with me, a review of The Beautiful Ashes, AND a 25.00 gift card giveaway running, so head on over there to get in on that action.

Finally, a reminder about my Malaprops signing in Asheville, NC tomorrow at 3pm. As usual, I'll be giving away swag as well as signing books, so if you're in the area, I hope you can come out. Not local to NC but you live in TN, TX or VA? I'm hitting those states in the next couple weeks, too. Go here for my full tour schedule.
That's it for now. See some of you tomorrow, and for the rest of you, happy reading! :)
*Guaranteed for Saturday the 23rd only and only for US readers. These aren't my terms; they're Amazon's.

The Beautiful Ashes is out!
In a world of shadows, anything is possible. Except escaping your fate.
Ever since she was a child, Ivy has been gripped by visions of strange realms just beyond her own. But when her sister goes missing, Ivy discovers the truth is far worse—her hallucinations are real, and her sister is trapped in a parallel realm. The one person who believes her is the dangerously attractive guy who’s bound by an ancient legacy to betray her.
Adrian might have turned his back on those who raised him, but that doesn’t mean he can change his fate…no matter how strong a pull he feels toward Ivy. Together they search for the powerful relic that can save her sister, but Adrian knows what Ivy doesn’t: that every step brings Ivy closer to the truth about her own destiny, and a war that could doom the world. Sooner or later, it will be Ivy on one side, Adrian on the other, and nothing but ashes in between…
Order from: Amazon, BAM, Powells, B&N, iBooks, Indiebound, Downpour.com , Audible.com or your favorite retailer.

The Beautiful Ashes playlist and more
Next up is an addition and a change to my August/September tour schedule. For the update, here are the Fresh Fiction event details for my stop with them in Dallas, TX on September 20th. For the change, due to a scheduling conflict, Melissa Marr will no longer be able to join me for my signing at Katy Budget Books on Septermber 19th in Houston, TX. I'll be sorry not to have her there, but I will still be there, plus Melissa and I have several joint events in VA, so be sure to check out my Appearances schedule for more details.
And now, to the playlist. As many of you know, I write while listening to music, and each book I write has its own specific list of songs that make up my playlist for it. Here is the playlist that I listened to while writing The Beautiful Ashes. Usual disclaimer: There’s no special meaning for the book in these songs, unless I specifically state otherwise. They're just what I listened to while writing this particular book. Also, music tastes are very subjective, so if you like the same music I like, great. If you don't, no problem. Just please don’t tell me that I shouldn’t like it, because if it’s listed, I do, thus no arguing on your part will change my mind. That's the nice thing about getting older - I no longer care if what I like is considered cool or not :).
Layout is Band name: songs (if more than one from the same band). Bands are in alphabetical order, not in order of preference or the order that I listened to them.
Aaron Shust: God Of Brilliant Lights
AWOL Nation: Sail
Brandon Flowers: Only The Young
Cage The Elephant: Come A Little Closer
Casting Crowns: All You've Ever Wanted
The Civil Wars: The One That Got Away, Dust To Dust

Fun.: Some Nights
A Great Big World (with Christina Aguilera): Say Something
Hillsong United: Oceans
Hurts: Mercy

Kat Krazy: Siren
Katy Perry (with Juicy J): Roar, Dark Horse*
Kings Of Leon: Supersoaker, Rock City, Don't Matter, Beautiful War, Temple, Wait For Me, Comeback Story, Tonight, Coming Back Again, Work On Me, Last Mile Home.
Kodaline: All I Want
Lana Del Ray: Dark Paradise, Summertime Sadness
Lorde: Everybody Wants To Rule The World, Team
The Lumineers: Ho Hey, Stubborn Love

Thirty Seconds To Mars: City Of Angels, Do Or Die
* With every book I write, there's a song that ends up getting played more than the others. For The Beautiful Ashes, it was Dark Horse. There's something about the beginning chorus that reminded me of Ivy:
So you wanna play with magic
Boy, you should know what you're falling for
Baby do you dare to do this?
Cause I’m coming at you like a dark horse
And the end chorus reminded me of Adrian:
Are you ready for, ready for
A perfect storm, perfect storm
Cause once you’re mine, once you’re mine
There’s no going back

Conclusion of the alternate "middle" version of Destined For An Early Grave, Part 4
It’s time for Part 4, the final edition of the alternate “middle” version of Destined For An Early Grave. If you’ve already read Parts 1 , 2 and 3, you can skip to the bottom to click on the link. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, here is the short recap:
I have a lot of deleted scenes from my first four novels, and in some cases, alternate versions. Many of you have said that you miss Cat and Bones now that their story came to an end in Up From The Grave, so I decided to post a never-before-seen, deleted alternate version of the “middle” of Destined For An Early Grave. Because it’s so long (over 30K words!) I have posted it in four parts on my blog. For a full recap, please go here to read Part 1.
Adult content warning: This part contains explicit language and sexual situations. As mentioned before, is also unedited, so my apologies in advance for any spelling or grammar errors. If you want to point those errors out, do so in the comments and I will correct the posted version.
