The Beautiful Ashes playlist and more

Next week is release week for me and I've got a bunch of things in store for you over the next several days. Seriously, if you don't regularly check my blog, this is your head's up that you will want to change that from now until the end of next week or you will miss out on some cool deals (*cough, tomorrow, cough*) giveaways and more. First is my interview with WTF Are You Reading blog. It's now live, complete with a giveaway. Go here to enter the contest, learn what inspired me to write The Beautiful Ashes, what my process is, and how I make the voices in my head earn their keep, heh.

Next up is an addition and a change to my August/September tour schedule. For the update, here are the Fresh Fiction event details for my stop with them in Dallas, TX on September 20th. For the change, due to a scheduling conflict, Melissa Marr will no longer be able to join me for my signing at Katy Budget Books on Septermber 19th in Houston, TX. I'll be sorry not to have her there, but I will still be there, plus Melissa and I have several joint events in VA, so be sure to check out my Appearances schedule for more details.

And now, to the playlist. As many of you know, I write while listening to music, and each book I write has its own specific list of songs that make up my playlist for it. Here is the playlist that I listened to while writing The Beautiful Ashes. Usual disclaimer: There’s no special meaning for the book in these songs, unless I specifically state otherwise. They're just what I listened to while writing this particular book. Also, music tastes are very subjective, so if you like the same music I like, great. If you don't, no problem. Just please don’t tell me that I shouldn’t like it, because if it’s listed, I do, thus no arguing on your part will change my mind. That's the nice thing about getting older - I no longer care if what I like is considered cool or not :).

Layout is Band name: songs (if more than one from the same band). Bands are in alphabetical order, not in order of preference or the order that I listened to them.

* With every book I write, there's a song that ends up getting played more than the others. For The Beautiful Ashes, it was Dark Horse. There's something about the beginning chorus that reminded me of Ivy:

So you wanna play with magic
Boy, you should know what you're falling for
Baby do you dare to do this?
Cause I’m coming at you like a dark horse

And the end chorus reminded me of Adrian:

Are you ready for, ready for
A perfect storm, perfect storm
Cause once you’re mine, once you’re mine
There’s no going back

Monique Lebrocq FYI. Ran out to get your book yesterday and was TOTALLY BUMMED that my Barnes and Noble (Bowie, Md) did not carry it. When I asked when they were going to get it in, they told me the store was not planning on stocking it, and so I had to special order it. So NOT okay! Just sharing in case your publishing team could do something about it.

Sorry about the difficulty, Monique. Alas, my publisher can't do anything if a store chooses not to stock a title. Stores have full control over what they do/do not order.
