Book rec: The Return
Calling all paranormal romance lovers: I have a new book recommendation for you! I first read The Return by Jennifer L. Armentrout a few months ago. How did I do that when its official release date was only yesterday? Well, one of the cool perks of being friendly with other authors is getting the occasional early look at an upcoming release. Do I shamelessly use this to try to get early looks on books that I want to read? Ah, YES (don't judge me - you would, too! :))

The Return is a fun, sexy blend of modern times and Greek mythology. For all of my readers who've lamented the fact that I don't write from the hero's point of view, you'll be pleased to know that this book features both the hero's and the heroine's pov. I loved The Return so much that I blurbed it, and what might not be commonly known is that I'm a stingy blurb-er (my editor and agent can attest to this, and it's probably been the cause of a few at-work alcohol shots for them over the years.) To get an "official" endorsement from me, I don't just have to really like a book, I have to loooove a book. When I finished The Return, I had that happy-from-a-great-book-glow, mixed with an impatience to read the next in the series, which is why I had this to say about it:

List news, more travel and a sad goodbye

I am tremendously awed and humbled by the above. Vlad, the arrogant vampire, would of course think that he deserved all of it ;). As I mentioned in my previous post, I traveled for BBF's release. First stop was Malaprops Book Store in Asheville, NC. This store usually hosts my releases and I had a wonderful time as always. Thanks to all the brave readers who ventured out on a frigid January evening to celebrate the release with me! Here's a photo from that night, courtesy of Kim at Paranormally Yours Twitter feed. You may notice that I look a little different in these pics than in my "official" author picture. Since then, I've cut my hair, changed the color back to red and maybe gained a pound or two *wink*. The hair color and cut I'm keeping; the pounds I'd like to lose. Ah, carbs. I love you with a mad, reckless love, as my hips can attest.Next up was Avon Book's KissCon in Saratoga, FL. This was a multi-author event and it was more than a signing. Readers who attended were treated to an hour of wine, treats and mingling, then a panel with trivia question and giveaways, and finally, the group signing. I'll come right out and say that I like group events more than single-author ones. For one, it's more fun for me to have someone else (or several someones) to talk about books with, and two, I think readers get a lot more out of hearing and meeting many authors versus just one. I know I learn a lot from these group discussions - like Julia Quinn announcing the second-most-common motorcycle injury...OUCH! - and I assume that readers do, too. Here are some pics from that event.
My next stop to celebrate Bound By Flames' release will be ApollyCon in Philadelphia, PA on the 28th. This is another multi-author event, and check out the lineup!

Finally, on a sad, personal note, I also traveled to Memphis to pay my last respects to my great-uncle, Bob Colegrove, who died at the age of 90. He and my Aunt Dottie were married for over 68 years, which, as I said on Twitter, is about as close to a happily-ever-after as reality allows. I had dedicated Bound By Flames to my aunt and uncle, but he died before he could see that. My Uncle Bob had been one of my biggest fans, which was a testament to his love for me because steamy paranormal romance was not his genre of choice. Since his death, my Aunt Dottie has reminded me of what strong heroines are made of, because while her heart is broken, her spirit is not. Here is picture from the last time we were all together. Rest in peace, Uncle Bob. You will be greatly missed.

Hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday! Some part of me can't believe that 2015 is already here, but the calendar doesn't lie. January is here and with it, the release of the next Night Prince novel on the 27th. As the subject line states, the book trailer for Bound By Flames is now up. Holiday giveaway
It’s been a while since I ran a giveaway, and what better time to do it than the Season of Giving? Besides, I’m all done with my Christmas shopping and that in itself is something for me – a procrastinator – to celebrate :). So, without further ado, let’s get to the giveaways! Here’s what I have up for grabs:15 winners will receive a signed copy of my backlist, any novel of their choice. Since I have twelve published novels, you have a bunch to choose from. Links to tell you more about the book on each title (Halfway To The Grave, One Foot in the Grave, At Grave’s End, Destined For An Early Grave, First Drop Of Crimson, Eternal Kiss Of Darkness, This Side Of The Grave, One Grave At A Time, Once Burned, Twice Tempted, Up From The Grave, The Beautiful Ashes). This part of the contest is open to international readers.
5 winners will receive a $15.00 Amazon gift card, emailed to the email address that the winners specify. This part of the contest is for US residents only (sorry, I don’t know how to send foreign email gift cards or anything about monetary exchange rates!)
3 winners will receive a signed early copy of Bound By Flames*, book three in the Night Prince series. This part of the contest is open to international readers.
1 “grand prize” winner will receive a signed early copy of Bound By Flames*, three signed copies of any three novels in my backlist, and a $50.00 Amazon gift card. This part of the contest, for the same reason listed before, is open to US residents only.
