Book rec: The Return
Calling all paranormal romance lovers: I have a new book recommendation for you! I first read The Return by Jennifer L. Armentrout a few months ago. How did I do that when its official release date was only yesterday? Well, one of the cool perks of being friendly with other authors is getting the occasional early look at an upcoming release. Do I shamelessly use this to try to get early looks on books that I want to read? Ah, YES (don't judge me - you would, too! :))
Here is the cover and description for The Return, book one in the Titan series:
The Fates are cackling their bony asses off…
It’s been a year since Seth made the deal with the gods that pledged his life to them. And so far, the jobs they’ve given him have been violent and bloody–which is kind of all right with him. But now Apollo has something else in mind for Seth. He’s got to play protector while keeping his hands and fingers off, and for someone who really has a problem with restraint, this new assignment might be the most challenging yet.
Josie has no idea what this crazy hot guy’s deal might be, but it’s a good bet that his arrival means the new life she started after leaving home is about to be thrown into an Olympian-sized blender turned up to puree. Either Josie is going insane or a nightmare straight out of ancient myth is gunning for her.
But it might be the unlikely attraction simmering between her and the golden-eyed, secret-keeping Seth that may prove to be the most dangerous thing of all.
Because history has once again been flipped to repeat.
Order from: Amazon, B&N, iBooks, BooksAMillion, Powells, Downpour, Audible.com, or your favorite store.
The Return is a fun, sexy blend of modern times and Greek mythology. For all of my readers who've lamented the fact that I don't write from the hero's point of view, you'll be pleased to know that this book features both the hero's and the heroine's pov. I loved The Return so much that I blurbed it, and what might not be commonly known is that I'm a stingy blurb-er (my editor and agent can attest to this, and it's probably been the cause of a few at-work alcohol shots for them over the years.) To get an "official" endorsement from me, I don't just have to really like a book, I have to loooove a book. When I finished The Return, I had that happy-from-a-great-book-glow, mixed with an impatience to read the next in the series, which is why I had this to say about it:
"Sizzling, forbidden romance and non-stop action make The Return an addictive read. Sign me up for the sequel - I am now officially a Seth-aholic." Jeaniene Frost
But don't just take my word for it. Here's what Publishers Weekly had to say: "As Seth learns to restrain his violent instincts and Josie trains hers up, the romance and danger both escalate at a feverish pace. Armentrout dives deep into the psyches of both hero and heroine, deftly switching from one point of view to another, while creating a drum-tight sense of suspense and sexual tension from the first page to the last. This is a very promising start to the series.”
The Return is also currently rocking a 5-star review average on Amazon, so if you're in the mood for something new to read, I highly recommend that you check it out.

List news, more travel and a sad goodbye
First, a huge thank-you to you, readers! Because of your support, Bound By Flames, Night Prince book three, rocked the bestseller lists in its first week out, hitting at:#6 New York Times mass market fiction, #9 New York Times ebook fiction, #10 New York Times Print & Ebook combined, #12 USA Today, #6 Wall Street Journal ebook, #10 Wall Street Journal combined fiction, #34 Amazon general ebook fiction, and #24 Publishers Weekly mass market fiction.
I am tremendously awed and humbled by the above. Vlad, the arrogant vampire, would of course think that he deserved all of it ;). So, you get big, thankful smooches from me, an electric high-five from Leila and a fiery hug from Vlad for showing Bound By Flames all the love during its debut week. If you haven't gotten your copy yet, you can order from Amazon, Barnes&Noble,BooksAMillion, Malaprops, Powells, Indiebound, iBooks, Audible.com,Downpour or your favorite book store.
As I mentioned in my previous post, I traveled for BBF's release. First stop was Malaprops Book Store in Asheville, NC. This store usually hosts my releases and I had a wonderful time as always. Thanks to all the brave readers who ventured out on a frigid January evening to celebrate the release with me! Here's a photo from that night, courtesy of Kim at Paranormally Yours Twitter feed. You may notice that I look a little different in these pics than in my "official" author picture. Since then, I've cut my hair, changed the color back to red and maybe gained a pound or two *wink*. The hair color and cut I'm keeping; the pounds I'd like to lose. Ah, carbs. I love you with a mad, reckless love, as my hips can attest.Next up was Avon Book's KissCon in Saratoga, FL. This was a multi-author event and it was more than a signing. Readers who attended were treated to an hour of wine, treats and mingling, then a panel with trivia question and giveaways, and finally, the group signing. I'll come right out and say that I like group events more than single-author ones. For one, it's more fun for me to have someone else (or several someones) to talk about books with, and two, I think readers get a lot more out of hearing and meeting many authors versus just one. I know I learn a lot from these group discussions - like Julia Quinn announcing the second-most-common motorcycle injury...OUCH! - and I assume that readers do, too. Here are some pics from that event.
My next stop to celebrate Bound By Flames' release will be ApollyCon in Philadelphia, PA on the 28th. This is another multi-author event, and check out the lineup!
Jennifer L. Armentrout , Mary Ting , Tiffany King , Kristen Proby , Mary Lindsey , Susan Dennard , Sophie Jordan , Katie McGarry , Chelsea M. Cameron , Page Morgan , Cora Carmack , Jay Crownover , Kristi Cook , Amalie Howard , Rachel Harris , Wendy Higgins , Jeaniene Frost , Laura Kaye , Sarah J. Maas , Jamie McGuire , Megan Erickson , Rachel Hollis , Ann Marie Frohoff , Katee Robert ,Tessa Bailey , Jen McLaughlin , Alexandra Bracken , Tina Reber , Jamie Shaw , Riley Edgewood , Cristin Terrill and Elizabeth Briggs.
Tickets for the VIP event and the Party are sold out, but a few tickets to the group signing (free of charge but ticket required) are still available, so be sure to get yours here if you want to come out. Hope to see some of you there!
.
Finally, on a sad, personal note, I also traveled to Memphis to pay my last respects to my great-uncle, Bob Colegrove, who died at the age of 90. He and my Aunt Dottie were married for over 68 years, which, as I said on Twitter, is about as close to a happily-ever-after as reality allows. I had dedicated Bound By Flames to my aunt and uncle, but he died before he could see that. My Uncle Bob had been one of my biggest fans, which was a testament to his love for me because steamy paranormal romance was not his genre of choice. Since his death, my Aunt Dottie has reminded me of what strong heroines are made of, because while her heart is broken, her spirit is not. Here is picture from the last time we were all together. Rest in peace, Uncle Bob. You will be greatly missed.

Sarasota, FL 34236
Description: Avon Books and Bookstore 1 Sarasota are teaming up for a multi-author event with Katharine Ashe, Maya Banks, Lena Diaz, Megan Frampton, Jeaniene Frost, Laura Lee Gurhrke, C.J. Kyle, Julia Quinn, Kerrelyn Sparks and C.L. Wilson. More info and tickets here.
Next I have the first 38 pages of Bound By Flames available online courtesy of my publisher, Harper Collins. I know; it used to be the first 20% but they changed it. To read the first three chapters, go here and then click "Read A Sample" under the cover.
Finally, here is the playlist of songs that I listened to while writing Bound By Flames. As many of you know, writing to specific music helps put me in the right frame of mind because I’m conditioning myself to write a particular story whenever I hear those songs (not saying this will work for every writer, but it works for me). That being said, there’s no hidden meaning for the book in these songs. Some of these are recommendations that you, readers, have given me, so thank you again! Remember: Music tastes are as personal as reading tastes, so if you don’t like some of the bands/songs, no problem. Just please don’t tell me that I shouldn’t like them, because if a song/band is listed, then I like do, and no arguing on your part will change my mind :).
Layout is band name: songs (if more than one from the same band). Bands are in alphabetical order for ease of listing.
Alanis Morissette: Underneath, Madness.
Banks: Brain, Waiting Game, This Is What It Feels Like.
Bon Iver: Hinnom, TX.
Chad Valley: Now That I'm Real, Shell Suite, I Want Your Love.
Coldplay: Always In My Head, True Love, Midnight, Another's Arms, A Sky Full Of Stars.
Delta Spirit: Yamaha.
The Fray: Love Don't Die, Hurricane, Our Last Days, Break Your Plans, Same As You.
Glen Morrison (featuring Islove): Goodbye.
The Goo Goo Dolls: Come To Me.
Hardwell (featuring Matthew Komo): Dare You.
Jilette Johnson: Torpedo.
Kari Jobe: Forever.
Katie Herzig: Walk Through Walls.
Keane: Is It Any Wonder.
Lana Del Ray: Born To Die, Young And Beautiful, Ride, West Coast.
M83: I Need You, Wait, Oblivion (featuring Suzanne Sundfor).
Motorcycle: As The Rush Comes.
Muse: Madness.
The Neighborhood: Honest.
O.A.R.: Peace.
Our Lady Peace: Somewhere Out There.
P!ink: Just Like A Pill, Just Give Me A Reason (featuring Nate Reuss).
Phillip Phillips: Gone, Gone, Gone.
Phosphorescent: Song For Zulu.
Sarah McLachlan: Flesh And Blood.
The Script: Six Degrees Of Separation.
Shakira: Empire.
Sharon Van Etten: Afraid Of Nothing, Taking Chances, Your Love Is Killing Me, You Know Me Well, Break Me.
Sia: Chandelier, Big Girls Cry, Eye Of The Needle, Elastic Heart, Free The Animal, Dressed In Black, Fire Meet Gasoline*.
Taylor Swift: I Knew You Were Trouble.
Tiesto (featuring Icona Pop): Let's Go.
* After I read the lyrics to Fire Meets Gasoline, I thought that Leila could have written them about her relationship with Vlad. Hope that all of you enjoy the new book continuing their adventures!

Final Bound By Flames contest winners, with added hot guy .gif
Wow, are you guys ready for the next Vlad and Leila book! I thought that limiting the time frame for the final contest would pare down the number of entries, but 925 of you disagreed. Since I only had six more books to give away, that means I'm about to disappoint most of you, and for that I'm sorry. At least you only have to wait one more week for Bound By Flames, and January 27th will be here before you know it. Also, if you want to order a signed paperback, Malaprops Book Store has them. Go to their page here to pre-order, and when I'm at Malaprops next week, I will sign your copy and Malaprops will ship it out to you. They even ship internationally, how cool is that?
If you haven't already seen my event schedule for Bound By Flames, go here. Maybe I'll be in your area soon!
All right, now let's get to the six winners! They are:
Pamela Venini, Christina Malave, Kristin Russell, Crystal Scarfo-Harris, Jessie Studie, and Kristen Spina.
Congratulations, ladies! Please check your inbox for instructions on how to receive your book.
For all of you who didn't win, I give you a consolation prize of a .gif of Tyler Heochlin, who plays Derreck on Teen Wolf, and who would seriously cause me to reconsider werewolves over vampires if he came with the package ;). Click the image to see the ab muscles ripple, ladies!

Bound By Flames book trailer
Hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday! Some part of me can't believe that 2015 is already here, but the calendar doesn't lie. January is here and with it, the release of the next Night Prince novel on the 27th. As the subject line states, the book trailer for Bound By Flames is now up. Once more, I turned to Book Candy Studios to produce the trailer. Hope you enjoy! Link to trailer on YouTube here.
Romantic Times magazine gave Bound By Flames a "Top Pick" rating (and also a "Hot" rating, for those readers who enjoy the spicy stuff ;)) and had this to say about it:
"The great news is that it's time for the next Night Prince novel - and it's everything we hoped for. The learning curve for marriage between passionate Vlad and Leila is proving to be a bit steep, and it doesn't help that they are still under attack. Frost's incredible patented brand of gripping romance ensures that the threats are horrifying real and the emotions utterly intense. Hang on tight!"
As a reminder, to help celebrate the upcoming release of Bound By Flames, the first book in the Night Prince series, Once Burned, is on sale in ebook for only $1.99. So is Halfway to the Grave, in case you've already read the Vlad and Leila books and are looking at sampling another series I've written, so swing by your favorite ebook retailer if you're interested. And as another reminder, here is my appearance schedule for January and February, so check it out to see if I'll be in your city. Hope to see some of you later this month and next month! :)

1 “grand prize” winner will receive a signed early copy of Bound By Flames*, three signed copies of any three novels in my backlist, and a $50.00 Amazon gift card. This part of the contest, for the same reason listed before, is open to US residents only.
Rules for entry:
1. Send an email to jeanieneprizes AT gmail DOT com (obviously replace the “AT” with an “@” and the “DOT” with a “.” in your email.)
2. Include your full name and the email address you want to be contacted at if you win. IMPORTANT: Specify if you’re international or a US resident so we know which prizes you are eligible for.
3. You can only enter ONCE. Duplicate entries will be deleted.
Winner will be chosen by Randomizer since I can’t choose between any of you ;).
Disclaimers: Due to the adult content in these novels, you must be 18 or have permission from your parent/guardian to enter. Contest is void where prohibited.
Contest Starts: Now.
Ends: Friday, December 26th at 11:59pm EST .
Good luck and I wish everyone a very happy holiday season!
** Bound By Flames will not be mailed out until after the first of the year because I won’t have my author copies until then. All other prizes will be sent out between one and five business days after receipt of winner’s information.
