Stephen Hawking Is Going To Kill Us All

I just saw an article that Stephen Hawking believes we only have 100 years left on earth. I didn’t have time to read the article, but I assume it means he intends to kill us all. 100 years is his final deadline, get off the planet by then or he’s going to wipe us up. Lasers, telekinetic powers, demons.

Kind of glad I won’t live that long anyway. Please don’t kill us, intelligent overlord.

The Final Halfway Point Goodreads Goal Numbers

Well, this is certainly going to be a heavy reading year. As I posted before, my Goodreads goal was 150 books for 2017. It’s not a race, but that’s a comfortable number for me to feel like I’m reading regularly. Also as I posted before, I hit that by the end of May instead of near the end of July like usual. By the halfway point of the year, the number was 185 (with 46,317 total pages, about a 250 page per book averaging the smaller chapbooks with the more humongous works).

185 for a halfway point is by far the most ever. My highest year ever was only 318 in total. I could beat some recent years by finishing 2017 reading less than a third of what I’ve already read in the first half.

None of this really matters. It’s just something I was noting.

Anybody Remember Spy VS Spy on Nintendo?

Anybody remember Spy VS Spy on the original Nintendo? I got it because I was big into Mad Magazine at the time. There wasn’t much to the game at all, and it had very little to do with the comic, but I actually played around with it quite a bit. It’s been a long, long time since I did, but it was actually kind of cool.

I’ve certainly played worse.

Facebook Messenger Battle Going On Two Years

Well, I still haven’t installed Facebook Messenger on my phone. The battle has been going on for almost three years now. Surely it can’t go on forever, can it?

First they took it from their app. It seemed annoying to remove functionality from an app. I became irritated. I avoided installing the separate Messenger app. Then I found out I could open it from a separate web browser on my phone. I did that for a long while, until they killed that too.

That’s when I found a way to force the phone web browser to open Facebook as the desktop page rather than mobile. This works to this day.

Three years, three years.

When will it end? Will I even care about Facebook by then? It’s hard to say. Facebook desktop in a mobile browser is annoying as crap, but this is personal. I’m not moving until they force my hand.

They probably will.

I Guess It’s An Animated Gif

I decided to look for an animated gif of the Imperial Palace in Las, Vegas today. This was the best I found.

I guess it’s animated. Kind of disappointing though, just like the fact that it’s gone. I know it was a horrid little place, but I was still fond of it.

This Box Lies

This box lies.

Remember it? I got this set for Christmas, or one that looks amazingly like it, back in the early to mid eighties. I had endless fun with it, but contrary to what the box indicated, mine did not belong to a “great magician.” “Magician” alone was going a bit too far in my case, much less with any additional terms such as “great.” “Some jerk kid’s magic set” might have been more accurate.

I mean, I had fun, but there’s no reason to lie.

I Can Count To Grass

I just saw a weather indicator that said “Pollen Count: Grass.” I immediately thought, I can count to grass!

After all, “Pollen Count” suggests a number, hence counting. Grass would certainly not be a number.

Of course, it was only part of the indicator. Below “Pollen Count: Grass” was the text “MODERATE.” Obviously this meant that the pollen count was for grass pollen, and that such a count was moderate, not that “Grass” was the result of the count. Still, I like my way better.

It’s more fun.
