I Miss One Of My Old Bus Drivers
My bus route has a lot of different drivers and they switch often. I miss one old one in specific though. He was the best.
My stop to go to work is near the end of the route, just two stops. Few people go to the stop after mine and almost none go to the final, where the driver takes a fifteen minute break before starting the loop again. My stop is two blocks before my office. I get off there because the next stop is two blocks after. Frequently, due to traffic, I end up getting to work as my bus is still going by.
The one driver I missed actually noticed where I was going. Since my office was in the middle of his four block stretch between stops, he’d stop at my office rather than two blocks before or two blocks after, when he could get away with it. He didn’t do it if there were other people wanting to get off on the actual stop. It was pretty thoughtful.
He hasn’t been on my route in a while. Not that he got in trouble, just that they switched all the drivers as they often do.
Yet another reason to dislike that.

I Hope That Woman Got Where She Was Going
A woman asked me for directions this morning. I really hope she got where she was going, because I am not the best person to ask…particularly in the morning.
She was sitting behind me on the bus. She asked if my phone had working data. She needed to use the RTD trip planner and her phone had died. I hadn’t really used it, and tried to figure out where to navigate from since we were on a moving bus, but I think I figured it out. I told her the stop it said and the bus to switch to…but I didn’t actually know if it was the same stop, across the street, or what. I’d never taken that other bus before, and had no real idea where she was going.
I hope she made it though. She seemed nice. Too bad she hadn’t managed to get help from someone more navigationally competent than me.

To The Man Who Talked Loudly For An Hour Straight On The Bus This Morning
To the man who talked loudly for an hour straight on the bus this morning:
Judging by how inane everything you said was, and how often you repeated yourself without any apparent prompting, I’m guessing the person on the other end of your call didn’t want to hear your garbage either.

Don’t You Hate When Someone Gets Pressed For Time And Writes A Half-Effort Post?
Don’t you hate when someone gets pressed for time and writes a half-effort post? You can always tell. Sometimes they just post an animated gif and pretend to be amazed about it. Other times, they harp on some weird aspect of blogging in a clearly self-referential way to discuss something everyone already knew.
Like this post, for example.
Look, a monkey:

I Wish I Could Get More Purple Potatoes
I wish I could get more purple potatoes. I tend to make and bag up snacks for the week containing a 6 ounce chicken breast, a medium sized potato, and a hand full of veggies (usually Brussel sprouts). This is an effort to eat less processed foods like egg rolls, chips, and microwave pizzas. Usually, I try to go for one of the higher vitamin content potatoes, like Yukon Gold as opposed to Russet. Occasionally, I can find purple potatoes. I’m preferring these right now, but they are hard to find.
I found them for a while last summer at Sprouts, but then nothing. Recently, I’ve found them at Whole Foods. Whole Foods is starting to run out of decent sized ones though, leaving only tiny ones.
Actually, I can almost always find purple mixed in with other varieties of fingerling potatoes. I should admit that, but those are annoying for trying to bag up a single medium sized potato worth for a daily snack, so they don’t really count.
I just wish I could find this variety more often, while I still want them. I’m sure it’s got something to do with what is seasonally available or something like that and I shouldn’t press for something that would be more harmful agriculturally, but I still want them.
I can’t help that.
