Day One - Complete!
80 ounces of beer later, and this one is in the bag!
Ok, so Day One is never all that difficult. Likely because I stuff my face with greasy burgers the day before, knowing I won't get a chance for the next 30 days. Cheating? Piss off. It's my diet.
I was so excited about the diet that I completely forgot to weigh in this morning. Rather than have an inaccurate reading, I'll do so tomorrow. I'd like to be down to 175 at the end. But we'll see.
See that in-office picture below? Well, what you don't see is the the near-catastrophe when I missed my pint glass on the last little pour. Significant splash on the wireless mouse. While I was in the middle of giving an online presentation. With the client on the phone. And I deftly cleaned the mouse without the client ever knowing. And without missing a beat. Mad skillz, baby.
Let's see what I can almost break tomorrow.
Beers
Killed: 1 growler of Citra Rye Pale by Joseph James Brewing
Cracked: 1 pint Park West Porter by Green Flash Brewing
Sausage

Trust me. Southern Arizona is the place to be when the weather of a long winter is getting you down. And talk about epic views for stargazing. You'll love it.
Phil and Cell have a great agenda planned. And where else can you pal around with an astronaut and a professional meteor hunter? Click the link below for more info. And I'll see you there, as I'm consulting on the beer selection!

Oktoberfest Beer Diet - Year Three!
Tomorrow marks the third time I've attempted the Oktoberfest* version of The Beer Diet. For the next 31 days, all of my calories will come from sausage and craft beer.
My special twist this year -- I like to mix it up a bit -- is to try and use growlers as my primary beer source. Arizona has really warmed up to the idea of growlers, and there are no less than three places I can get a fill on my way home each day. Not that I'll need to fill up each day. 64 ounces of beer goes a long way. Based on my math, I'l need to fill up both growlers about every day and a half to keep on track.
No, I'm not carrying growlers to work with me. Though I did buy some nifty holsters that I could wear like across my chest like bandoliers. Instead, I'll decant my day-time dosage in a chub and a 12 oz. cobalt blue stopper bottle. That should get me through the afternoon, so I can wrap up at home that evening.
At least that's the plan. As happens on the Beer Diet, change is often necessary. But to start, I've got my beer and I've got my sausage cooked. Let's do this!
*Yes, I know that Oktoberfest started in September. No one likes a nerd, so be quiet.

Breaking Bad Test!
Try not to freak out at this revelation, but I have never seen a single minute of a single episode of Breaking Bad.
No, that is not the test! Keep reading!
After major disappointments with shows like Firefly (canceled early,) Lost and BSG (endings that really pissed me off,) and The Walking Dead (Zzzz...) I swore off watching any new network TV series until it was completed to the satisfaction of those whom have opinions that I actually respect.
Here's the test!
Do not tell me in this post how stupid I am or that I really should watch it. I'm not. At least not yet. What I'd rather you all do is send me your thoughts on the show after you've watched the final episode tomorrow night and after you've had a moment to reflect on the entire experience. Is it really worth my time to mainline the whole thing? Is it really the iconic series of our time, destined to be a classic?
Again, the test is that you not tell me this right fucking now! Because you don't know until it's over. You must wait and review it in its entirety. That. Is. The. Test!.
And then tell me.

Has this every happened to anyone?
I uploaded an update to my relatively new ebook on KDP. It's a guide to help homeschooling parents in PA navigate the law. I expected the update to stay in "draft" or "review" for 12-24 hours. I just got an email saying my book is under review....here's the beginning of the message: "During a review of your KDP submission(s), we found content in your book is freely available on the web. To confirm you have publishing rights to this content, and that you control where you distribute the book(s), please take one of the following actions:"
While information about and the text of the PA homeschooling law is freely available on the web, this form and the organization of it is NOT. While others might agree with my interpretation of certain provisions that are vague, how I presented it is my own.
I do have a corresponding website and some of the content (sections or chapters of the book) are presented as articles on the website but the organization of each is different. I have heard of plenty of people collecting blog articles and presenting them in an ebook. Is this what Amazon is getting at?
I'm slightly worried that they'll impose a ban on me but I'm certain the content is unique and not available anywhere else in this form unless someone pirated it. For example, there are a few websites that discuss how to go about filing an affidavit, which is fairly straightforward, I'm certain that my form and my explanation of the reason I file this certain form to meet that requirement is truly my own.
Any thoughts?
