Double Your Drawer Storage
Most drawers in the shop include a lot of wasted space. Even at only 6″ deep, most of my drawers are only at half capacity because nothing in there sits higher than 3″. Taking some inspiration from my kitchen, I decided to retro-fit an existing drawer with a sliding tray system. It requires a little bit of surgery on the drawer but in the end, doubling the capacity makes it totally worth the effort.

Gaming Coffee Table
This past Summer I had the honor of teaching a class at the Marc Adams School. The class was to be a scaled-down version of the Gaming Dining Table (Free Version) (Premium Guild Version). Because it’s never a good idea to teach a class on something you never actually built before, I decided to build the prototype and film the process. This video is just a quick overview of the process so if you want the additional details and the plans, you’ll have to pick up the Gaming Dining Table build at TheWoodWhispererGuild.com.
A special thanks to the folks who joined me in Indiana to build one of these fun little tables. Well, except for David. David just build whatever he wanted. (Sorry for the inside joke)
Stuff I Used
Osmo Polyx Oil
T-Slot Bit – 142-0805
White Scotch Bright Pads
Gallery
Look close enough and you’ll see how “well-used” this table is. It’s the coffee table we keep in the family room so it gets plenty of abuse. I probably should have photographed it right after it was finished six months ago but hey, this is real woodworking life!

Mike’s Garage Shop
My table saw, drill press, jointer, and bench top morticer are Powermatic. My bandsaw, orbital sander, and dust catcher are by Rikon. The smaller equipment such as 12” miter saw; 15 gallon compressor; and my various types of drills, both electric power and battery, are by DeWalt. My router equipment is a nice combination of both DeWalt and Porter Cable. The types of compressed air fasteners are all by Bosch and Passload.
My shop and all it’s equipment take up the 649 square feet of a small garage. It has taken me almost three years to make, and sometimes remake, cabinets and storage for all the equipment and tools necessary to do my work. I am a retired rough frame and trim carpenter. I am enjoying my retirement years doing what I like to do best with what I think is the best and still affordable equipment to do anything my mind is still able to conjure up.

Bunk Bed With Slide
My son has been asking for a bunk bed for a while. To be honest, I procrastinated due to the scale of the project and I am surprised Nicole didn’t just go out and buy one. Thankfully, she didn’t and this sweet bunk bed with slide is the result.
Built with a crap-ton of Alder from my local supplier Austin Hardwoods, the bed is big, heavy, and takes a while to build. But the smile on your kid’s face makes it work every second of effort.
Plans will be available soon.
Stuff Used in the Video
Festool application pad
Planer Brackets
Festool Domino XL Connectors
Domino XL
Domino 500
Lee Valley Drawing Bow
Amana Countersink
Tapered Plug Cutters
Leather Shop Apron
Titebond Extend
Ryobi Buffer
Terricloth Polishing Bonnets
Rubio Monocoat Walnut

2018 Holiday Gift Guide
We haven’t done an old school Gift Guide video in a while so we decided to do one live on our Friday Live show. Because the video was recorded live, it’s not quite as “hi res” as our usual content. But we thought you’d enjoy seeing some of these gift recommendations anyway. You probably know I’m a tech geek as well so some of these items are a little “off topic” but have some tie-in to life as a shop woodworker.
If you shop using any Amazon links below, we’ll get a small portion of the sale as Amazon affiliates.
Most of the products can be found in our Gift Guide directly on Amazon. Click here for the Holiday Gift Guide.
Items not found on Amazon.com:
Wood Whisperer Branded Scraper
Blue Spruce Chisels
