Serious question: How many of you writers live in my neck of the woods? I actually have two different things I'm trying to hook up, one just a public appearance for a published writer, the other for someone interested in ghosting/assisting some business-investor friends who want some help on their book. Both things need to be local to the San Francisco Bay Area.

I survived basketball. I survived my childrens' dual-attack (abetted by their mother) on wanting cellphones. And I survived our oldest child having to finish his science project. Just call me Gloria @#$%ing Gaynor.

Off to try out the convalescing back (muscle spasm) on my first basketball of 2010. I am desperate for exercise, but I'm going to have to take it easy. On the plus side, ...

One of my cats is pestering me unceasingly to put him and the other cat to bed. (They get a lot of petting as an inducement to leave the office.) I can't believe I let myself in for this every night. He should be wearing a tiny little cat-sweater with the words "I'm With Stupid" knitted into it.

Going to try to fit some actual fiction into a day of child- and pet-wrangling. I plan to do this by parthenogenetic reproduction -- splitting into more than one version of myself. Failing that, I'll yell a lot.

Trying to catch up to my various messages here on Facebook (and elsewhere.) Holidays and germ-siege have put me a bit behind. In the meantime, you can simulate your own Tad-response. Open up a Doctor Seuss book and pick a sentence at random, preface it with "Sorry to be so late replying", put a "Love, Tad" at the end.....

Last day of the long holiday. Will my children give in and start preparing to go back to school, finish the homework they were given two weeks ago, make sure they have clean clothes for tomorrow? Or will they sloth desperately until the last possible second? Gee, just try and guess.

I still have a cold. (Said in the Charlie Brown, "I got a rock," voice.) I muscled through it yesterday, because I had to, but it's come back to bite. I'm going back to bed. Onward and upward. Happy 2010 to everyone. We loves ya.

Went to see WICKED with the kids in SF. Had a really grand evening. They're a lot of fun to do things with, our sprogs.
