BOOK BLITZ: The Silent Daughter by Claire Amarti #GIVEAWAY

The Silent Daughter
Claire Amarti
Publication date: May 7th 2020
Genres: Adult, Psychological, Suspense
Schoolgirl missing, the ticker reads, and the camera cuts to a girl’s face. Blonde hair waterfalling over her shoulders, serious eyes, lips a little parted like she’s about to speak. That’s when I realize I’ve been holding my breath, because the gasp when I inhale almost chokes me.Sadie Kelly has lost her job. Until last month, she was a teacher at Horton College – the same high school she went to ten years ago along with her best friend, Fiona. But Fiona died in an accident on their graduation night, in circumstances Sadie’s spent the last ten years trying to forget, and since then nothing’s been the same. Now Sadie’s back where she grew up, jobless, and living temporarily with Fiona’s mother. But when she hears that Devon Hundley, a Horton schoolgirl, has gone missing, everything changes. Devon’s the daughter of Philip Hundley, a man Sadie knows all too well, and Sadie can’t stop thinking about the last time she saw Devon. It was the day Sadie left Horton for good, and heard Devon murmur four little words as she walked away. Four words Sadie prayed she had misheard:I know your secret.A gripping page-turner for fans of Kerry Lonsdale, Diane Chamberlain, and Liane Moriarty.
Goodreads / AmazonEXCERPT:I lower my gaze to the grey headstone before us.Kennedy, Fiona.Beloved daughter.Loyal friend. The familiar nausea churns in my stomach. Beside me, Jan kneels down and starts pulling small weeds from the headstone. The weeds are only ever small ones, because Jan comes here regularly. She watches over this little patch of earth. The lettering on the headstone is sharp and clear – I hear they carve them with lasers these days. I think for a moment what it might be like to be a gravestone carver. Quiet, I decide. Peaceful. The right kind of life for someone like me, the hermit I’ve become.Jan places the little clump of pink freesias underneath the stone. She’s always calm and matter-of-fact when we visit her daughter’s grave, no tears. She just sees to the weeds and clucks her tongue whenever there are signs of youths drinking in the cemetery, empty cans or cigarette butts. She treats it like a living room that needs cleaning but it’s hard to know what she really feels – how much she’s recovered or ever will recover from the loss. It’s the one thing – okay, one of the two things – that I will never talk to Jan about. I just don’t have the words. And if I’m honest I probably don’t want to know what exactly she feels now. I can’t bear the guilt.‘Okay love, we’ll be off now.’I don’t know if it’s me or Fiona she’s talking to. The wind whips around her words, moving across the grass and shaking the spruce trees by the cemetery wall. Jan plants her hands on her thighs and levers herself back up from the ground. We link arms and I steer us back towards the parking lot.‘You mustn’t worry about the job thing, Sadie,’ Jan says. ‘You know you can stay with me for as long as you like.’‘I know,’ I say, and give her arm a squeeze through the raincoat.‘Everybody needs a break sometimes,’ she goes on. ‘It’s nothing to be ashamed of.’A break is a nice way to put it. She’s conveniently leaving out how I was asked to leave Horton College, and how I’ve been having periodic panic attacks since arriving back, jobless, to Milham. It’s frankly embarrassing. Jan’s house has always been a second home to me though. As for my actual home, Mom’s house is only a three-minute drive from Jan’s, but that door is closed to me these days.‘I sometimes think that -’ Jan pauses. ‘I sometimes think it was my fault, Sadie.’I stop walking, taken by surprise.‘What do you mean? What was your fault?’She sighs. ‘Well, you know. Driving you so hard. Pushing you. You never did ‘have a break’ growing up, did you? I was always pushing you to do more. You and Fiona. But Fiona was different. She never worked as hard as you did.’She didn’t have to. Fiona was smart, smarter than me. Smarter than almost anybody. I touch the locket I always wear around my neck. It’s true, Jan coached us, pushed us. But I always wanted to be pushed. I wanted to escape little Milham town every bit as much as Jan wanted me to. Everything she dreamed for us, I dreamed too. Harder than she knows.I squeeze Jan’s arm again.‘You were my fairy godmother. You still are. Don’t second guess yourself. And don’t worry about me. Something will come up.’She turns her head just enough to look me in the face; her raincoat squeaks. She smiles at me.‘You’re a good girl, Sadie.’ Her voice is kind, loving. ‘You always were.’I drop my eyes from hers, focus on the parking lot. The drops are coming down thick now, enough that nobody could tell if it’s rain on my face or tears. I glance back. The wind is strong and the flowers are cheap, and there’s already a flutter of pink petals come loose, whipped up in the air like morbid confetti. A good girl.If only she knew.

Author Bio:
I’m an author who writes suspense stories about ordinary women – women like the ones we all know and love – who find out that their ordinary lives may not be quite so ordinary after all! My hope is that you will root for them, fear for them, and find yourself holding your breath when the action starts to get a little hairy! When I’m not doing writing, I can be found strolling the streets of Brooklyn, New York City, my adopted home, dodging pigeons and traffic. I moved here a little over eight years ago – I hail from Ireland originally – and never looked back. To me there’s nothing more wonderful than that feeling of finding – or making! – a new home, that mixture of excitement at finding a place in the world, and the comfort of being able to come back to it time and again. That’s what reading feels like for me… and for you too I suspect! It’s also the same joy I get from writing. I hope my books can become a kind of home for you too: a place where you can trust that you’ll find a wonderful adventure, and then land safe and sound at the end of it all, ready to do it all again another day!Website / Facebook / Newsletter

BOOK BLITZ: Based on Lies - The Whole Story by Debarshi Kanjilal #GIVEAWAY

Based on Lies – The Whole Story
Debarshi Kanjilal
Publication date: May 1st 2020
Genres: Dark Romance, Psychological Thriller

A psychopath. An infidel.A child abuser.A murderer.A lover. An insomniac.A disturbed man.A victim of his own mind. Each one of these phrases can aptly describe Anurag Sanyal. This is Anurag’s story.
He has confessed it all to his diary. He has described every crime in vivid, nauseating detail. And each account is more surreal, more messed up than the last. There is only one problem – everything he narrates is based on lies. And thus, we begin the eternal search for truth.
Goodreads / AmazonEXCERPT:Anurag smiled hesitantly and said, “It’s okay. I know you are here to help. And I trust any choice that Aditi makes.”“Good,” I said, as I stood next to him. I drew a chair for myself and sat down in front of him.“You love Aditi, don’t you?” I asked.“Of course, I do,” said Anurag. “Anyone else, I would have been struggling to keep paying exorbitant alimonies for years now. But Aditi is different. I wish I could have done more for her, given her a child, perhaps.”This sentiment wasn’t new. I had read something similar in his diary. And that scared me; his diary couldn’t be dismissed as a madman’s blabbering if he can recall any or all of it.“Does Aditi feel that way about the child? Are you sure that she even wishes to have a child with you?” I asked.Anurag burst into laughter. “Which married woman in her thirties doesn’t want a child, doctor? Let me call you doctor, makes you seem important! Anyway, I don’t need to ask her that question, doctor. I have been with her long enough to know what her heart desires.”I tried to stay calm. After the silence simmered for half a minute, Anurag added, “If I did ask her, she’d say ‘you’re the child in our marriage, Avi, we don’t need another one,’ but I know she would just be saying that.”I was caught with my guard down. ‘Avi!’ I exclaimed as I turned to the door into the room to look at Aditi, who had been standing there calmly all along. She turned her gaze down to the floor and then silently turned and walked away. I tried to gather my composure—futile efforts. I looked back at Anurag and asked him, “I am sorry, I didn’t read your full name yet. That was really careless of me.”“It’s okay, doctor. After all, you are not a real doctor, so you are allowed to make mistakes! It’s Kar, Avinit Kar.”“Of course, Avinit. Avinit, do you know anyone named Anurag?”“Yes, of course, I knew Anurag, but haven’t you heard?”And with that preface, Anurag started talking. And before I couldn’t take any more of the ridiculous story he narrated, he had suggested that Anurag, who was someone other than himself, had died in a terrible road accident, and Aditi is now grieving his death.

Genres: Adult, Paranormal, Romance
The voices haunt her…Their whispers taunt her with a war she never wanted…But Arya Frost has more to contend with than the cryptic voices disturbing her sleep.Protected inside the haven of Sanctum after losing both her parents in the Blood War a decade ago, Arya is different from other witches. She’s the only witch without a coven.Or so she thinks. She’ll have to find a way to awaken her magic, deal with her growing attraction to Chaos, all while being thrust into the middle of a magical feud that has been building for centuries. The Blood War might be over, but the war between witches is just beginning.
Goodreads / AmazonEXCERPT:Flipping through my copy of the Sang Magi spell book, I turned to the potion section again, desperate to understand what I was doing wrong…but all the ingredient names seemed to blur together. Not even the most sacred book of magic could help me. It was useless. I tossed it on the floor and buried my head in my hands.A sharp pain seared between my temples and I rifled through my desk for a calming elixir. My ears tingled. Just when I thought I could finally relax, the silent comfort of my room was interrupted by a burst of frantic voices, echoing throughout the halls. This time of night was always so quiet, you could hear a pin drop. What the hell was going on out there?Folding my wings back into my shoulders, I crept to the door and pressed my cheek against it. The brisk shuffling of feet was paired with gasps and whispers. With my ear still on the door, I reached for my hoodie and pulled it on, always careful to keep my back covered. Even with my wings hidden, two distinct black lines were etched into my shoulder blades, thick and somewhat raised like a freshly inked tattoo. The footsteps in the hall intensified, a mixture of heavy boots and pointy heels thudding against the floor with urgency. I threw open the door just as Sapphire came bumbling toward me, breathless.“Arya! Something’s happening. Everyone’s heading toward the library. C’mon, let’s go.” She tugged at my wrist.I let her drag me down the hall. “Hold on. Slow down. Why is everyone freaking out?” Faces full of shock and awe whipped past us.She spun around, full stop, and faced me, almost knocking me back. “Chaos is here.”“The god?” I couldn’t have heard her right. Maybe I drank too much of that calming elixir.“No, the rock star. Yes, the god. We need to hurry and get in there.” Her grip tightened around my wrist as we followed the frenzied crowd toward the Library of Covens. My heart pounded. The gods didn’t leave Elysium unless the fate of humanity depended on it. At least that was what happened the last time. The only time actually. Gray had convinced Chaos to help her fight in the Blood War against Cerberus, the guardian of the Underworld. But we were in an age of peace now. Why was he here?

BOOK BLITZ: Trust In Love by Linda Kage #GIVEAWAY

Trust In Love
Linda Kage
(Love Mark, #2)
Publication date: May 4th 2020
Genres: Adult, Fantasy, Romance
The kingdom of Far Shore still resents Donnelly, its neighboring land, for forming an alliance with those filthy High Clifters and then defeating them in war. Twice! They really must pay for such an insult. And what better way to prick their pride than to steal their lovely, revered princess, mutilate her a little, and then ransom her back to them for a hefty sum.So, the king blackmails stable hand, Farrow, into accepting the mission of kidnapping Princess Nicolette and bringing her back to Far Shore to meet her gruesome fate. With his sister’s life on the line, Farrow reluctantly accepts the quest and travels through sand and forest, only to find Nicolette eagerly awaiting his arrival with her bags already packed and good to go, spouting off insane nonsense about being his destiny and one true love. What follows is a crazy, eclectic adventure that brings two lost souls together and helps them learn who they’re supposed to be and what they’re supposed to do in this ever-changing journey called life.
Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble / iBooks / KoboEXCERPT:“Given the proper incentive, Farrow here might be more reliable to fulfill this quest than anyone in all of Far Shore.”I narrowed my eyes. The douche might’ve just complimented me, but I’d never trusted him. Whatever Greggor was thinking, I already knew I wouldn’t like it.“What do you mean?” The king asked curiously, and I shook my head, wishing he’d just disregard the damn advisor’s suggestion already. Find someone else for his stupid mission. But he didn’t.“The boy’s quite fond of that middle girl of yours, isn’t he?” Greggor’s top lip curled into a wicked snarl as he watched my face drain of color. Then he rasped one word.“Sable.”And just like that; my entire world shifted on its axis.Cold, slippery dread slithered through my system.I immediately waved both my hands, disagreeing. Whatever he wanted to do that involved Sable, I was out. She was an innocent twelve-year-old child. Why should she be brought into any plans that involved kidnapping another kingdom’s princess? This already sounded disastrous.Turning to my father—my eyes pleading—I said, “No.”But the panic on my face only caused the king to blink in surprise before he motioned to his advisor. “Keep talking.”“No,” I growled more vehemently as Greggor said, “We could hold the child in the dungeon until Farrow returns with the Donnelly bitch. And if he fails his mission…” He glanced at me and smiled. “Sable dies.”“What?!” I shouted. “The hell you say.” Turning to my father, I was even more horrified because I could tell the ignorant ass was actually considering this madness. “Have you lost your damn mind?” I boomed “How could you even ponder such a ridiculous notion? Sable is your daughter.”King Torrance shrugged. “And you’re my—” He cut himself off before finishing the sentiment.I held my breath, wondering if this was going to be the moment of truth, when he finally called me son. My heart beat hard in my chest, yearning for that one word, while my stomach churned, also dreading it. Being his would mean I actually belonged somewhere; I was someone. But did I really want to be the heir of this brute? He snickered and waved a hand. “Well, whatever you are. You’re both equally useless to me, so…” He motioned toward a pair of guards by the entrance of the room. “Fetch the girl.”“No. Stop!” I stepped toward the guards to waylay them, but the king waved his hand again, and four more knights stepped into my path, blocking my way.I snarled at them before whirling back to the king. Shit had just gotten real. With Sable involved, my will collapsed like a poorly-dug well.“You don’t have to involve her,” I told him. “I’ll do it!”

B@@K REVEAL: Wanted by R.E. Hargrave #GIVEAWAY

Wanted by RE Hargrave
RELEASING JUNE 9, 2020Genre: Contemporary Romance Cover designed by JC Clarke of The Graphics Shed
Hyde Johnson is an erotic audiobook performer. A ‘Read By’ byline is too plain, and ‘Narrated By’ still doesn’t capture what he does. His livelihood is his passion. Performance art, the air he breathes. Which translates to a recluse who is a hot mess. He’s not eating right, he’s drinking more, and his family’s meddling is making it harder to stay on task.
Being designated the guardian of her young niece Tina is the last thing Gypsy Hartford expected. But when the State of South Carolina unceremoniously puts Tina in her care, Gypsy accepts it’s time to grow up and stop floating from town to town. Where does she start when she has no degree, no real friends, and no family besides Tina?
A want ad could be the answer to both their conundrums. Or it might open a whole new can of worms. Especially when you throw in a crazed author with an unhealthy obsession for her narrator.
WANTED:
Someone to run errands, cook, and handle minor cleaning. Must be quiet and self-starting as I work nights and sleep during the day. Compensation negotiable, including transportation and board. Discretion a MUST.
Only serious inquiries please.

EXCERPT:
“Easing his tongue into her mouth was more sensation than his body could handle—”“Unca Hyde, sissies chase me. Halp!”The tiny voice, paired with a banging fist, called through the door of his studio, bringing Hyde’s recording session to an abrupt halt. Why his brother thought they needed a fourth kid when they had three monsters already was beyond him. Removing his headphones and switching off the mic, Hyde marked his script, saved everything, and shut down. Heavy feet dragged him to the door, which he opened to glare down into the wide eyes of Randy, his three-year-old nephew. A few seconds later, giggles drew his attention to the top of the stairs where Aimee and Ashlee, the twelve-year-old twins, stood on the right side of breaking the house rule: no one under eighteen was to step onto the upstairs landing. They were close, but unlike their brother, they hadn’t crossed the line.Since moving back into his childhood home, he’d remodeled the second floor of the old converted schoolhouse into his recording haven and business, Hush Studios. A small kitchenette and bath were at one end; the rest soundproofed and kitted out with the best audio and technical equipment he could get his hands on. Via the internet, of course, because Hyde Johnson didn’t leave his house unless he absolutely had to.“Unca Hyde.” Randy tugged his hand, and Hyde let out a ragged sigh.Sami was going to be less than pleased. Ms. Jackson, the author he’d narrated five projects for in the last two years, had been getting more demanding of late. Entitled even. It wasn’t his fault Zeke had shown up unannounced two weeks ago with his wife and kids and interrupted the recording of number six. Hyde’s meticulous nature meant this delay was driving him mad.Two days, he reminded himself. They’ll be gone in two more days.“Where’s your mom and dad, kid?” Hyde directed his glare at the twins even though he was speaking to Randy.Their faces sobered before they turned around and disappeared down the stairs. He gave a satisfied nod and looked down at his visitor. “There ya go, Randy. They’re gone. Off you go to bed now, I’ve got work to do.”“You always say dat, Unca Hyde.” The little boy shuffled his feet and tugged harder on Hyde’s hand. “Come read me story. Pwease?”“You aren’t going to take no for an answer, are you?”Randy shook his head, and Hyde huffed.Fuck. Why not, my concentration is already screwed, he thought. “Lead the way, kid.”
An hour, and three stories, later, Hyde stood and stretched his back. Randy had put up quite the fight falling asleep. Wondering if his animated reading had kept the little tyke up, he made his way out to the hall and closed the door behind him. He turned and jumped at the sight of Zeke and Connie leaning against the wall a few feet down, smiles on their faces.“What?” Hyde grouched at the pair.Zeke shook his head. “Nothing, brother.”“Everything, Hyde,” overrode Connie. “It’s not too late for you to settle down and be a daddy, ya know? You’d make a good one.”Hyde scoffed then trudged past them. Before he turned the corner, he looked back and snapped, “Remind your fucking kids to stay off the second floor. I’m behind schedule.”Fifteen minutes later, he had everything almost ready to resume his performance of Tristan, the warrior lover with a wicked tongue.First things first, though. Hyde went over to the wet bar, pulled the bottle of Effen from inside and poured a two-finger shot, then slammed it. The vodka burned on the way down, leaving a crisp, clean cucumber taste in its wake. Now he was ready.

Domestic engineer. Author. Burgeoning editor. And quite possibly certifiable. Believing every story can shine bright with a bit of tenacious tough love, R.E. Hargrave is thorough and to the point.

BOOK BLITZ: No White Knight by Nicole Snow #GIVEAWAY

No White Knight
Nicole Snow
Publication date: April 30th 2020
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Handsome devil. Hate-worthy. Walking scandal.I’m catching one feeling with him and it’s got teeth…

If I was a bird, I know who I’d paint white.Holt Silverton. The cocky dolt who swaggered up thinking he’d buy my ranch out from under me.I know his reputation—those stormy eyes and chiseled looks ruined half this town.Spare me the pick up lines and pretty words.

I’d rather chew nails than get roped up in anything with him.I ain’t selling off my home, my inheritance, or my horses. Not even if I desperately need the cash when trouble comes calling. But there are two things I didn’t count on.

Holt’s as stubborn as a bull. He’s also hiding a rough and tumble country boy behind that big city suit.Everything flips upside down the day he says he’ll help save my land.Too easy.

Because I can’t let anybody uncover the awful secret on my property. Not even gorgeous stallions turning I-hate-you into what-are-we-doing.He’s no white knight. The way Holt kisses is a warning…Nothing will ever be the same after this dark knight rocks my world.
From Wall Street Journal bestselling author Nicole Snow – a rogue of a man plays for keeps when he collides with a determined small-town firecracker. A bantery enemies to lovers thriller. Full-length standalone romance novel with all the Hell Yeah Happily Ever Afters.
Goodreads / AmazonEXCERPT:This girl hits below the belt.Literally.That’s one area, though, where I’m never insecure. I’m actually grinning. There’s a fire in her, and frankly, I respect her more for calling me the douchebag I am for coming out here and sizing up her land without even a how-do-you-do?“Don’t even try it,” I say. “I grew up around here. I know how to handle horses.”“I hope you mean riding. Wouldn’t know it just looking at you.” Another once-over, like my suit’s some kind of scarlet letter branding me an outsider. “You look like New York. Tell you what—you ever want your country edge back, I’ll break you in until you’re raw around the edges and leave you begging.”I arch both brows. “Sweetheart, I don’t think you meant that to come out the way it did,” I say, biting back a bigger grin.Libby makes a disgusted huff, rolling her eyes so hard they go white.“Keep it in your pants, cowboy.”“Again,” I point out, “you seem to be putting a whole lot of thought into what’s in my trousers. You been missing me, Libby? Had a little crush I never knew about and now we’re all grown up and you want to play?”I step closer to her.I can’t help it.Women look at me like I’m dinner. Sure, they hear the stories.I’m bad news, but the kind of bad news you want to hear to learn a few dirty tricks.Everybody wants a ride.Nobody ever tries to buck me off.Not like Libby. And that just makes me want to get under her skin and live there. I smile slowly, leaning down toward her, close enough to purr in her ear.“You want to play house,” I say, “you gotta call me Daddy.”Her eyes go wider than the moon. She makes a strangled sound in the back of her throat. That hot-pink flush in her cheeks turns brilliant red, and there’s no mistaking the fury. Her mouth thins to a tight line. The only warning I get is Sierra shouting.“Oh, no, Libby, don’t—”Too late. Libby plants her hands square on my chest and pushes me.I mean, hell. It’s a miracle she catches me off kilter, considering she barely comes up to my collar. But I’m thinking less about being impressed and more about the sky spinning and the world whirling by as I topple backward. My ass lands hard in a puff of yellow dust that flies up and spills back down, coating my freshly dry-cleaned black suit.
