$200K in 3 Years Helping People With Notion

Published October 19, 2023 by Niall DohertyContributor: Fardeen Khan
Molly Jones is a Notion consultant who recently tweeted…
As a Certified Consultant, I’ve earned over $200,000 working part-time, prioritizing flexibility over money.
She started in 2020, so that’s $200K over ~3 years
In case you’re unfamiliar, Notion is a popular productivity and note-taking app.
Sounds like Molly taught herself how to use Notion, then started picking up freelance work…
I came across my first client by accident. There were hardly any people doing Notion Consulting and a girl in a Facebook group just asked if anyone knew anything about Notion. We started talking and I made her an epic workspace for Pennie’s on the dollar and the rest was history!
She also tweets…
within 5 months I made my first $10k/month on client work.
At some point Molly got certified as a Notion Consultant, and now most of her clients come via the Notion Consulting Partners directory…
When I first started I was all about niching to help me FIND clients (design and creative studios were my jam). Now I let the clients come to me (via the certified directory) and I choose not based on industry but who I feel most aligned with
You can see Molly’s directory profile here.
It’s worth noting that, as of this writing, there are only 66 partners listed in the entire directory. And apparently there are ~30 million Notion users, including ~4 million paid users.
So there’s room for plenty more certified consultants methinks
Molly’s advice for working as a Notion consultant…
Don’t take on more than you can handle. I had dreams of building the Notion Consulting empire, hiring loads of help and taking on more than I needed. It’s actually quite easy to run your consultancy with a small team (or by yourself) and easily take in $10k months.
And…
Avoid overcomplicating your build. While you might believe that the client wants all the fancy features & tricks you know, if they are new to @notionhq, it’s best to keep things simple.
I like Molly’s approach of learning how to use some complicated software and then offering to help others as a consultant
Similar stories we’ve featured before…
$6500/Month Helping People Use Zapier$225k a Year Salesforce Consultant$15-20K/Month Teaching People How To Use SoftwareAre you already a power-user of certain software?
Or is there software you’d enjoy mastering?
If so, you could try doing something similar to Molly and co.
Probably worth prioritizing software that has some kind of certification you can get, and a directory for certified consultants so clients can find you easily

How does Simple Profit System help you make money?
Simple Profit System, AKA Covert Influencer Method, aims to help you make money through the Amazon Influencer Program.
Being an Amazon Influencer involves uploading product review videos to Amazon.
These videos appear on product pages, and you get paid when a customer who sees your video purchases.
Example of where your videos might be on an Amazon product page…

A few perks of being an Amazon Influencer…
You can make faceless product review videos, so you don’t need to be on cameraAmazon drives the traffic for youYou can review products even if you don’t buy them from AmazonThe more videos you upload, the more you can earnYou can sometimes get free products in exchange for a video reviewAmazon Influencing is more of a quantity than a quality game.
So you’ll need to upload about 150 videos to make $1,000 per month.
Learn more about affiliate marketingWho is Simple Profit System for?Simple Profit System seems to target people seeking an easy way to earn extra income online.
From the sales page…
It’s something I believe ANYONE CAN DO whether you like internet, marketing, business building… or you just someone looking to make some spare change.
While I do think it’s simple enough for everyone to do, it still requires serious dedication to make the type of money advertised.
I’d say it’s only a good fit for you if you’re willing to upload dozens, if not hundreds, of 2-5 minute video reviews over several months.
70+ ways how to make money online (including easy options)Does Travis Stephenson have a good reputation? It’s complicated.
There’s no question in my mind that Travis is a successful affiliate marketer and businessman, but a considerable number of findings suggest he has engaged in shady business practices.
For starters, Travis’ main company, Wealthery, has an F on BBB…

And there are several unanswered complaints. For example…

Here’s a summary of the four BBB complaints…
Technical issuesUnresponsive supportNot honoring refund requestsFake urgency (saying the price will increase but it doesn’t)The next issue involves two lawsuits against Travis.
The first was a 2018 lawsuit by the SEC…

The SEC alleged that Travis and a group of internet marketers created and shared videos that tricked people into opening brokerage accounts and trading risky securities called binary options.
Apparently, the marketers promised that investors could make a lot of money by using free or secret software systems.
The SEC claims that these promises were false and that investors lost tens of millions of dollars as a result.
Travis reportedly agreed to settle the charges and pay a total of $4.1 million.
The Commodities Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) also sued Travis for what seems like a related issue…

The CFTC claimed Travis participated in misleading advertising and used fake testimonials related to a binary trading offer.
As a result, Travis was reportedly permanently banned from trading on registered exchanges and had to pay back $89,000.
In summary, it looks like Travis was an affiliate and took his advertising claims too far.
But while Travis has had issues, it doesn’t seem to have stunted his success too much.
For example, it appears Travis has four 2 Comma Club awards from Clickfunnels…

That would mean he’s generated over $4,000,000 with his own products.
It also looks like Travis is actively walking his talk when it comes to the Amazon Influencer Program…

But his $700+ earnings are far from the $10,000 he claims is possible.
Given all of this, I think it’s best you set reasonable expectations when working with Travis, even though he’s one of the more effective entrepreneurs in the affiliate marketing space.
Here’s a video from Travis’ YouTube channel so you can get a feel for his style…
Are Wealthery’s students getting results?Scrolling through the sales page, you’ll see plenty of student testimonials…

No proof is shown. But giving the benefit of the doubt, it seems many students are earning from the Simple Profit System.
How much does Simple Profit System cost?Simple Profit System costs $97 one-time.
There are two upsells immediately after buying.
The first is a $49/mo offer to learn how to do traditional affiliate marketing…

And the second is a $299 upsell to access an Amazon Influencer scaling training…

Oddly, the core $97 product’s sales page seems to imply $10,000/mo is possible with the system…
I can’t make it any clearer, this is the simplest and easiest way to earn extra income (Up to $10,000/ Mo for most)
But in the upsell video, Travis says the core training is enough to take you to $2,000/mo, and he suggests buying the $299 upsell to scale past $4,000 per month.
IMO, this is a shady upsell tactic that leaves buyers feeling like they have to pay extra to get what they were promised.
Simple Profit System Discount?I’ve searched high and low for a discount or coupon code but have yet to find mention of one anywhere, and there’s no place to enter one at checkout.
So it looks like you’ll have to pay the full price if you want access.
Refund PolicySimple Profit System claims to offer a conditional 7-day refund guarantee.
The official word…
We offer a 7 Day refund guarantee that only asks that you submit the information you attempted during our program to prove you at least tried the methods and they didn’t work.
But there are numerous complaints about Wealthery not honoring its refund guarantee, so it’s safest to assume receiving a refund is unlikely.
As with all courses, I think 30 days is a reasonable time period for refunds because it gives you enough time to get a feel for the material.
Also, non-specific conditional guarantees like this makes it easier for sellers to deny a refund request.
So I’m certainly not a fan of this policy.
How is Simple Profit System structured? Here’s what Simple Profit System looks like when you log in…

And here’s a sneak peek inside a lesson…

Simple Profit System is a video-based training with 20+ lessons totaling about 5 hours of Amazon Influencer-related training.
There is also about 4 hours of content related to traditional affiliate marketing.
Lessons are clearly labeled, step-by-step, and mostly feature talking head videos rather than over-the-shoulder screen recordings.
There’s also a search feature, making it easy to reference specific material.
Plus, you get access to an active Facebook community…

A few things to like about the Simple Profit System…
A good amount of student testimonials and success stories.Active and supportive private community.Decent training even if you don’t buy the upsells.Red Flags 🚩A few things to be wary of regarding Simple Profit System…
Numerous upsells within the training.Reports of poor customer support and no refunds.Unclear if the training is still being updated. Some big skeletons in Travis Stephenson’s closet.Claims it’s an easy way to make money online.Other things you should knowA good way to think of Wealthery’s training: It basically documents everything Travis has done to build a successful Amazon Influencer business. Books & Courses = $420,000+ Side Hustle

Published October 16, 2023 by Fardeen KhanReviewed and edited by Niall Doherty
Hassan Osman is an author who has managed to publish over 20 books and 12 online courses while working a full-time job
He recently tweeted…
Everything I know about creating on the side in 5 simple ideas
All on the side while working a demanding full-time job (and not sacrificing family time)
Best I can tell, he’s been working this side-hustle for 10+ years.
His courses have been taken by 320K+ students and his books have apparently had 100K+ readers.
Hassan sells the courses via Udemy and the books via Amazon.
Even if he made only $1 for each sale – a very conservative estimate – that would be $420K+ he’s earned on the side
His first piece of advice is a concept coined by Gary V: Document, Don’t Create.
Hassan writes…
I’ve published in multiple categories:
• Management: I just documented what I already knew about managing virtual & hybrid teams, and about leading people
• Travel: I just documented my weekend family trips to Rome, Paris, London, and most recently, Montreal
• Authorship: I just documented how I wrote, published, and marketed all my books
With that in mind, what knowledge or experience could you document or package up in a guide, ebook or course?
Hassan continues…
you probably won’t have a lot of time to market and promote your stuff.
I use two primary platforms:
• Amazon for books
• Udemy for courses
… Although both platforms take a higher margin cut (and they have several other disadvantages), they make up for it by marketing my books & courses on my behalf so that I can focus on creating.
Hassan also repurposes a lot of the content he creates…
Do the hard work once, and then repurpose (and reuse).
For example, he turned one book he wrote into
He later adds…
The key to publishing on the side is volume.
I don’t go all in on one book or one course…
Focusing on volume makes me a bit more immune to failure
Lastly, Hassan says the most important thing is to enjoy what you’re doing
What I do is super-fun for me. I genuinely enjoy the process of writing books… If I was creating just for the sake of starting a side hustle, I would have quit 10 years ago.

TikTok vs Instagram: The Difference in Views is Insane
In a recent Reel, Katerina Kulp highlights how the same content posted to TikTok and Instagram can achieve very different results…
Tiktok and Instagram are freaking me out. Sometimes the difference in views is just insane.
I posted a video about coffee on Instagram and I got 14.2 million views. I posted the same exact video on TikTok at the same exact time, 75.2K.
I posted another video on Instagram about sleep deprivation, how we act when we sleep less. It got 10.8M views on Instagram. It got 250k on TikTok.
Katerina goes on to say that she would sometimes post on TikTok, get very few views, and start to think her content was subpar
But when she’d post the same videos on Instagram, some of them would go viral
Or vice versa.
She adds…
My point is that the internet is literally insane and you just do what you’re doing. You keep doing your thing and enjoy the process.
Given that, be sure to try posting your content on different platforms and in different formats.
One video might do better on TikTok while another might do better on YouTube Shorts.
Or maybe the same message you share in an Instagram Reel would do better as written text posted to Twitter
You never know what will work best, so keep experimenting.
$5000/Month Self-Taught Branding Expert

Published October 16, 2023 by Fardeen KhanReviewed and edited by Niall Doherty
Matija Kolarič is a branding expert from Slovenia who provides naming and branding services on platforms like Fiverr and Upwork.
I came across his story via Nick Loper’s book: $1,000 100 Ways
In the book, Matija revealed that he was earning $5,000+ per month from freelancing
That would have been back in 2021, but it looks like he’s still active on Fiverr. He’s also earned $40,000+ via Upwork over the years and charges $75/hour on there.
Matija shares how it all began
It all started with the book The 4-Hour Work Week. Tim Ferriss showed me how easy it really is to make money online. All you need is a plan and a little perseverance…
This was also the first time I learned about Fiverr, which later turned out to be the platform that changed my life.
My low-paying job and a family to feed motivated me. I graduated in 2013, in the midst of a global recession. I had a degree in civil engineering, but the market was in such bad shape that it was almost impossible to get a job.
It cost him nothing to get started on Fiverr, but it was a while before he was earning a good income…
I earned less than $50 my first month, but I saw money on my account. It was everything I needed to motivate me. I hustled like crazy. I sent as many offers each day as I could. I started my business by replying to buyer requests on Fiverr.
It took 5 months for him to reach $1000 in profit
Matija’s big breakthrough came when he started answering branding-related questions on Quora. He became the most viewed writer on that topic, getting over a million views. Having a link to his Fiverr profile on Quora helped him land new clients.
When asked what he would do differently if starting over, Matija replied…
I would start earlier. My biggest mistake was that I was thinking about starting a business. I was overthinking and overanalyzing everything. It all changed when I actually started.
What I love most about Matija’s story is that he didn’t do anything fancy.
Sounds like he learned enough about branding to provide value, started off with a low rate to gain experience and testimonials, then just stuck with it for several months until he was earning a good income
The opportunity is still there to do this with many different skills.

Free Password Generator Making $70,000 Per Year

Published October 16, 2023 by Niall DohertyContributor: Fardeen Khan
Password Generator is a simple website that generates secure passwords
According to SimilarWeb, the site gets ~720k visits per month.
It’s monetized with Google display ads.
Running the numbers through the official Google AdSense calculator – using the Reference category – the earnings work out to around $70,000 per year
The site has been live since 2012 and you can see an early version of it here. It hasn’t changed much over the years.
2012 was about the time people were becoming more conscious of password security, so the timing was good.
And it looks like they’ve done a great job of building quality backlinks, which helps them rank well in search engines
Some of their top backlinks come from articles like…
Passwords overview – DreamHost Knowledge Base5 Common Beginner WordPress Mistakes | HostGatorWebscape: Perfect passwords – BBC NewsI’m guessing whoever owns Password Generator was very active ~10 years ago, finding such articles, reaching out to the authors and suggesting they include a link to their handy and free little website.
They may also have been using HARO to make such connections
Or in the case of the DreamHost and HostGator links, Password Generator may simply have been one of the only such sites to link to back in 2012, and perhaps the easiest to use.
Another thing Password Generator has going for it: look at their indexed pages, and you’ll see that they have the tool translated into multiple languages.
So they’re likely grabbing lots of traffic that way as well
Pretty cool to see such a simple and low-maintenance website pulling in $5000+ per month year after year.
And there may still be opportunities to build sites like this.
If you’re eager to find one, it’d be worth keeping an eye on a service like Exploding Topics. For every rising trend you see on there, ask yourself…
What simple tool would be useful for people who are interested in this?
And remember, you don’t need to be a great coder to build tools nowadays. You can use ChatGPT, similar to how DeepakNess did to earn himself $275/month passive income.

Music Superstar Failed 100s of Times
Words from musician Ed Sheeran in a recent interview…
You learn nothing from success. Nothing.
You learn everything from the failures…
Success happens from failing hundreds of times.
It doesn’t just happen overnight, you have to be rubbish and you have to have people laugh at you and you have to have people go, “Oh, go on, get a real job, this isn’t really going to work.”
And you just have to have belief that eventually it is going to get better.
Although Ed himself started very young, releasing his first album at the age of 14, he didn’t exactly have it easy.
From The Journal of Music…
Ed Sheeran played 312 gigs in 2009 in addition to constantly releasing new material on his YouTube channel. These gigs and his widespread social media following caught the attention of Jamie Foxx, Elton John and Example.
He was only 18 years old at that time. Very few people – let alone 18-year-olds – have that kind of work ethic.
And all those reps = lots of opportunity to fail, learn, and improve
Ed was eventually signed by Asylum Records in 2011. He released the album + soon after, which has since been certified seven-times platinum in the UK.
$10K/Month Email App While Sailing The World

Published October 12, 2023 by Fardeen KhanReviewed and edited by Niall Doherty
Danielle Johnson and her partner James Ivings are digital nomads who have been traveling the world full-time for 6 years, and living on a sailboat for the last 18 months
(Some nice photos on Danielle’s Instagram)
Despite their nomadic lifestyle, they’ve managed to start and grow a successful business called Leave Me Alone.
Leave Me Alone is super easy to use. Simply connect your email addresses, and we’ll show you all the mailing lists you’re on, and you can unsubscribe from the ones you don’t want with a single click!
When you’re done unsubscribing you can add the newsletters you love to a daily (or weekly) digest email using Rollups.
To keep your inbox clean you can control who is allowed to email you or block everything else with Inbox Shield.
The idea came about because Danielle and James were spending a lot of time sorting through their own emails while on the road. They went looking for a service to help them find and unsubscribe from unwanted emails….
Faced with the dilemma of a messy inbox or all of our data being exploited, we decided to build our own solution.
They built the first prototype of Leave Me Alone in just 7 days
The response from early users was incredibly positive, with 50 potential beta testers signing up after just a few hours of sharing the landing page on their social accounts.
Leave Me Alone officially launched in January 2019.
In the first month, we scanned a mind-boggling half a million emails!
The launch was a huge success: Leave Me Alone finished #1 product of the day and week on Product Hunt and brought in over $1000+ in revenue
Danielle writes…
Our single best decision was to share our journey of ups and downs, and give people an insight into our lives as we build Leave Me Alone from various locations around the world – our audience has proved invaluable when we needed feedback, advice, encouragement, and even beta testers!
Four years later, the app now earns around $10,000 per month from subscriptions and one-off payments (via their website)
Danielle adds…
We also completed our goal of earning enough money from Leave Me Alone to buy the sailboat of our dreams and sail around the world!
We’ve been living aboard our 36ft boat Nayru since May 2022 and we’re still working on Leave Me Alone – I guess you could say that we’ve transitioned from nomads to sailmads!
Danielle’s advice if you’re building products…
It takes time to find an idea that sticks. Don’t hold onto a bad idea or product just because it’s the easy option. It’s difficult to admit that something you built or are building isn’t working, isn’t getting users, and isn’t growing.
If you can recognise when this is happening and be objective about it, then you will waste less time bouncing back and working on your next idea.

Ice Cream So Good = $7000 Per Day

Published October 12, 2023 by Fardeen KhanReviewed and edited by Niall Doherty
Fedha Sinon, known on social media as PinkyDoll, has recently gone viral due to her imitations of background characters in video games (aka non-playable characters or NPCs).
Here’s a video of her that got 50M+ views on Twitter
I was just being cute. I remember someone saying, ‘Oh my God, you look like an NPC.’ And then they start sending me, like, crazy money.
In a typical livestream, she stares into the camera while delivering canned phrases like
I know, it’s pretty weird.
As she streams, viewers send PinkyDoll digital gifts which translate to cash payments. Her reaction to the ice cream cone gifts has become a meme
From the NYT profile…
For certain viewers, there’s something sexual about being able to control her every word and gesture by sending her this or that gift. For other viewers, she is just plain fascinating to watch.
Regardless, this schtick is earning PinkyDoll a ton of money
Ms. Sinon said she made between $2,000 and $3,000 per stream. Across all her social media accounts, which include Instagram and OnlyFans, she puts that number at $7,000 per day.
And she doesn’t seem to mind the criticism…
I don’t really care what people say about me. If they want to think I am this or that, it’s fine with me. At the end of the day, I’m winning.

Their Database Generated $100,000+ Within a Year

Published October 12, 2023 by Fardeen KhanReviewed and edited by Niall Doherty
Ryan Sager is the co-founder of Who Sponsors Stuff, a database that tracks sponsorship data for newsletters
Ryan used to work at a company called Ladders, where he helped build a newsletter that generated millions in ad revenue
That’s also where he met his co-founder Jesse.
In a recent interview, Ryan shared how it came to be…
After Ladders, Jesse and I set up a company doing third-party sales for newsletters that needed help filling ad inventory.
We had big clients in numerous content verticals, so we needed a way to track what companies were sponsoring which newsletters. We’d done this casually at Ladders, but this time around we systematized it more and more.
Before long, it was clear that what we were building wasn’t just of use to us—it was something we should package and sell to publishers.
Who Sponsors Stuff now tracks 350+ newsletters and records details like ad screenshots, sponsor landing pages, and the best contacts to reach out to
We record who is sponsoring each newsletter and package that data up for use by publishers’ sales teams or for solopreneurs.
They built the whole thing with Airtable and Softr (turns Airtable data into a working app), and hired virtual assistants to collect the data.
After starting in late 2021, Who Sponsors Stuff was already generating six-figure revenue within a year
Most of our interest has come inbound and through referrals from other customers.
Ryan says the product now has over 50+ paying publishers using it to power their newsletter and podcast ad sales. So I’m guessing they charge $2k-$3k per year for this data.
The success of Who Sponsors Stuff in the newsletter industry has me wondering if it could work for other industries
Maybe…
Podcast Sponsor TrackerNiche YouTube Sponsor Tracker (tech, gaming, productivity, etc.)Might be an opportunity to package who’s sponsoring what in those industries, and sell the data to creators.
Ryan’s advice for new founders….
Make sure you’re solving a problem. If you’re solving a pain point that can unlock revenue for others, you’re off to a better start than 99% of projects.
With that in mind, a good starting point here would be to speak to a bunch of people you think would pay for such a service
If you’re addressing a real pain point – and they believe you can actually deliver a solution – they’d likely be willing to pay in advance.
