The word evokes fear to mostly everyone who hears the word. For those who have lived it themselves, or have taken care of those who have had a stroke it means a change to potentially everything you knew as normal.
My guest is Marcia Moran, a stroke survivor who has made it her mission to advocate for those who have had a stroke and help those who care for them.
On this episode we discuss her journey from stroke patient to advocate. She shares her story of how her life changed in an instant and the critical things you need to know in case it happens to you or a loved one.
Marcia Moran has written over fifty business plans, and helped entrepreneurs strategize over how to differentiate their companies in changing environments. Her experience led her to found her own firm, Performance Architect in 2012.  She also co-founded Positive Business DC, an organization designed to increase well-being in the workforce in 2012.
After suffering a major stroke in 2014, Marcia applied her skills in planning and strategy as she strived to become whole. She never gave up. Over time she learned to walk again, but Marcia struggled with aphasia, a language disorder.
Marcia lives with her husband Jim, two very loud cats, and two birds near Washington, DC. On weekends, Marcia, Jim, and the cats go to Deep Creek, Maryland where Marcia paints watercolors. In the evening Marcia and Jim sit out on the deck and watch fireflies flit by.
Marcia holds a B.S. in Political Science with a magna cum laude from the University of North Dakota and a Master’s in Business Administration, from Chapman University in California. She attended Skirinssal Folkehoyskole in Sandefjord, Norway and studied art. She also earned a certificate in Well-being Foundations of Personal Transformation from the Personal Transformation and Courage Institute in Virginia. She volunteers at Brain Injury Services, supporting their Speakers Bureau program. www.strokeforward.com

Is it possible to heal and strengthen your body by adding an extra layer to your physical conditioning?
My guest is Tammy Wise. A Broadway dancer turned Tao minister and the creator of the time tested BodyLogos system of alignment and strength training that has made a difference for many who thought they would never be able to get strong and healthy again.
During this episode Tammy shares her own journey to health and healing and even shared a quick exercise you can do everyday to begin improving your posture. I’ve done it a few times now and it works quickly! All with 3 breaths.
We also talk about how emotional trauma can get trapped in the body and prevent full healing, how just a few minutes a day can correct posture from being at a computer and her own journey from abuse to strength helped her develop BodyLogos.
Tammy Wise is a widely respected mind-body fitness expert, owner of BodyLogos, Inc., author of The Art of Strength: Sculpt the Body ~ Train the Mind, and creator of the BodyLogos App. A former Broadway dancer turned Tao minister, Tammy was voted the Best of Fitness by Time Out New York (twice!) and has appeared in Martha Stewart’s Whole Living magazine, New York Magazine, Natural Health, Shape, Thrive Global and more. She’s a Transformational Authors Contest Winner and regular contributor to Medium. With covid shifting business, school and social gatherings to virtual settings more time has been spent in front of a screen than ever before. Streaming platforms saw unprecedented increases in subscriptions and depression and dissatisfaction rose astronomically. The goal of tech should be to make you better, more efficient and productive, healthier and happier. Yet it can have its darkside as we see people struggling with digital addictions or tech being used to cause harm to others.
My guest, Heidi Forbes Oste has been talking about digital wellbeing and how to excel while being a human on this planet and global nomad for a long time. As a behavioral scientist, geek, global traveler and parent, she has lived what we discuss on this episode and guided numerous corporations and individuals to finding the balance between the digital world and the real one.
Technology has become a lifeline for many and a curse for others as technology use takes a toll on their emotional and physical beings. Join us as we discuss all that and more.
Dr. Heidi Forbes Öste is a behavioral scientist, best-selling author of Digital Self Mastery series and executive producer of the Evolving Digital Self and Global Nomad Hacks podcasts. She combines 25 yrs experience in social strategy consulting with her scholarly research in the human relationship with technology and her personal passion for wellbeing and global citizenship. She holds several advisory roles as an expert on strategic integration of Digital Wellbeing and Ethics to support the transition into the digital era without losing humanity in the process. Through her leadership as Managing Partner at 2BalanceU and board roles she has been recognized for her global outreach mentoring and professional development for women entrepreneurs and start-ups.
Her mantra: “Knowledge is Power, Sharing is Powerful

Why? Because perspective shifting answers and questions abound not to mention some fun.
Take a listen as I interview Mark Asquith, aka The British Podcast Guy, as we discuss his journey to define his role in the world, his thoughts on the future of podcasting and why he really does not care about missing out. His answer made me rethink several different areas of my life.
And it wouldn’t be a conversation with Mark unless some superhero conversation surfaced. I mean the man calls his company Rebel Base Media! I may just have to have him back on the show to just discuss Star Wars, the DC universe and Star Trek. I can easily get lost in that conversation.
After quitting his job at age 23 so that he didn’t have to work for people with whom he didn’t want to share a water cooler any longer, Mark Asquith decided to try his hand at digital product development and began working with some of the UK’s biggest organizations, including the NHS, JCB and the Ministry of Defense.
But that wasn’t enough, he struggled with the idea of having a “boss” and the stifling feeling that brought with it. Mark decided after a few years as a freelance digital consultant that the only way to actually control his own lifestyle was to work truly for himself, on things that he loves.
So, in 2008 he set up his first “real” business. Obviously, in 2008 that was a web design business.
Since then, Mark has gone on to create a globally successful design agency, work on two tech startups with some serious stories to tell and create a personal brand that has resulted in an audience of worldwide fans who appreciate his “no BS” attitude and straight-talking demeanor.
A regular speaker across the world at tech, business and podcast events, particularly in the United States. A straight-talking, no BS millennial speaker, Mark talks on productivity, startups, work/life balance, personal branding, digital product development, user experience and all aspects of modern marketing.
Right now, Mark is CEO and co-founder of Rebel Base Media, one of the UK’s leading podcast companies and was the vision behind the suite of products from Rebel Base Media including a podcast hosting, analytics & distribution platform (Captivate.fm), the world’s #1 managed WordPress platform for podcaster (Podcast Websites), Podcast Success Academy & podcast interaction tech, Poductivity along with the Rebel Base Media podcast production studio in Sheffield.

She has written a beautiful book, Katherine’s Quest: One Woman’s Journey to Elation, to show how intention, in all we do, can make the journey through life one of, well elation.
Take a listen as Pat shares her journey and how you can begin adding intention into all aspects of your life. I had several big ahas when Pat shared a few questions she suggests we all ask ourselves and those we care about. The powerful one for me? Well, you’ll just have to take a listen and let me know which you think it is and what your answer is to the question.
Pat Alva-Kraker was known as an international IT project manager, and a community leader. A successful Latina woman working in two male‐dominated industries, IT and engineering. In order to be accepted, each morning Pat put on her two‐piece skirt suit with pumps; making decisions from her analytical side and
forfeiting her strong sense of intuition.
After a 35‐year career, Pat “woke up”, began her own journey of elation and donated 100% of her corporate “uniforms” to The Ladder Alliance and now chooses to live an empowered life.
Driven by the belief that personal elation, living according to your blueprint and connecting to your wiser self is a choice we make each day, she founded Majestic Coaching Group, LLC. Pat Alva‐Kraker has always had a passion for self‐mastery and assisting women become their best self.
Her company coaches and mentors women transitioning from IT, Real Estate and Project Management careers. Majestic Coaching Group LLC creates a safe and encouraging space where women can tap into and honor their intuitive self; expand their capacity to become stronger leaders; make a greater impact with their business; and collaborate with other like‐minded business leaders. www.majesticcoachinggroup.com

To others, before you even open the doors of your business you should have a plan for how you’re going to sell the business and every day in business be growing it to sell it.
I don’t think it matters what other people think you should do with your business. I think what matters is what you want to do with your business. And that may change overtime as well. Whether you plan on selling your business or not, understanding the principles of what somebody is looking for if they want to buy it can help your business achieve greater success. Even if you never sell.
My guest today is John Warrillow, founder of Built to Sell and The Value Builder System, a successful entrepreneur himself and the author of numerous podcasts and books on building and selling businesses. John and I talk about his latest book The Art of Selling Your Business: Winning Strategies and Secret Hacks for Exiting on Top.
He shares what is really involved with selling and growing a business and the questions you need to ask before, during and up to the moment of sale. If you’ve ever thought it would be great to sell your company you’ll want to listen to this episode . If you’re thinking about starting a business, you’ll want to listen to this episode. If you have a business and think you want to pass it on to your family , you definitely want to listen to the end of this episode for John’s view on passing your business to your family.
John Warrillow is the founder of The Value Builder System
, a simple software for building the value of a company used by thousands of businesses worldwide. Offered by a global network of independent advisors known as Certified Value Builders, The Value Builder System
incorporates several diagnostic tools, including the Value Builder Score. Those businesses that achieve a Value Builder Score of 90 or greater are worth double the average-performing business.
John is the author of the bestselling book, Built to Sell: Creating a Business That Can Thrive Without You, which was recognized by both Fortune and Inc magazines as one of the best business books of 2011. Built to Sell has been translated into 12 languages. There are stories that go around that say that women don’t support women yet from all the interviews I’ve done, and my experiences in the tech and business worlds, I’ve found that that is not the truth. I found that more women support women then we are led to believe. My guest today lives and breathes her philosophy that success is not about external trappings and that if we learn to get clear to determine what it is we truly want and align our internal and external lives with that, then happiness and success can be achieved.
Nicole Scheffler is a woman in tech, although like many of us women in tech, she just prefers to say she’s in tech and forget adding the woman part. Nicole has spent much of her career helping others succeed as she succeeded.
On today’s episode Nicole and I talk about success, lifting other people up, and the questions she asks herself to align herself with her own definition of success.
Nicole Scheffler is a Tech Diva dedicated to sparking success for women in technology careers – women who are working to own their career success and realize impact in a male-dominated field. Nicole empowers women with proven success principles to help them define their aspirations, goals, and boost their daily contributions in the digital world. Applying more than 16 years’ experience in a fast-paced technology career, the wisdom featured in her best-selling “Pillars of Success” book with Jack Canfield, and hundreds of hours interviewing women in tech on her podcasts, Nicole provides a clear success framework for women in all stages of their tech careers. Do you need an MBA? Wouldn’t it be great to have in one place, the foundational pieces to every successful business?

On this episode Harry and I talk about what makes a successful entrepreneur, the perils pitfalls and excitement and what he is learned from guiding himself and others in nearly three decades plus of his own entrepreneurial journey and what guided him to write his latest book, Pocket MBA Instant Entrepreneur.

The word conjures up so much loss and sadness. You are given that title when you lose someone you loved very much and planned a life with forever. A life you certainly never expected to change dramatically when your husband gets diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor and dies eight months later.
How do you recover from that with any sort of grace when you have two kids to take care of and a life to rebuild that looks different than you expected it to?
Jenny Lisk created the Widowed Parent Podcast and wrote the book, Future Widow: Losing My Husband, Saving My Family and Finding My Voice because she saw a need to help others through what she went through. She wants to educate people BEFORE they have to go through losing a loved one while providing a resource for those who are in it now.
Take a listen as we discuss the questions Jenny didn’t even know to ask, the answers she found during and after her husband passed and how being vulnerable helped her heal and help others.

Jenny Lisk is an author, speaker, and host of the Widowed Parent Podcast, which has been featured in The Washington Post and ParentMap. On her Hundred Dreams list is riding a camel. And milking a cow. And raising $44,000 for brain cancer research, in honor of her husband’s 44 years. The author of the memoir Future Widow: Losing My Husband, Saving My Family, and Finding My Voice, Jenny lives in Redmond, Washington, with her two teenagers.
