Lea Carter (1982-??) was born in Neosho, MO, the youngest of eleven children. Between working on the family farm, attending Church and school, and playing with her siblings, she somehow found time to write. Her work progressed from childish attempts to recreate the magic she found in the books that she read to writing enough books to at least keep a door propped open.

If I can get enough of a scene written down before my mind has jumped to something else, then I can usually remember it (vividly) if I happen to come back to it. Most of my scene ideas just sit and gather dust, though. If I had bona fide story ideas, I suppose I would dedicate a binder or a spiral notebook--or a digital folder--to them. (less)

Short, but interesting. Definitely not a smooth ride for the main character, yet pleasantly ungruesome and with (to me) a surprise ending.
I think the reason I didn't see the ending coming is that the foreshadowing was more than complex than I expect
