More about my new story

So, I guess I should explain about the new story I came up with, huh? Well here goes, in full:

The main characters, Paige and Kayden, have known each other for a while but have never been close after Kayden cheated on Paige’s friend, Mandy. Being loyal to her friend she pushed away her attraction to him.

A year later, Mandy and Paige have drifted apart.

At a party, Paige is flirting with another guy when spots Kayden and they get talking. The guy she was originally flirting with doesn’t take too kindly to Kayden encroaching on “his girl” and they get into a fight. Paige manages to drag Kayden away and outside asks him what he was doing. In answer he kisses her and they end up having sex.

The next morning she remembers what he was like before and regrets sleeping with him. Meeting with her best friend, Leah, later that day, she confesses to spending the night with him just as he appears at the coffee shop they are in, and he charms her friend by laying compliments on both of them and then leaving after giving her a kiss goodbye.

Still mindful of what happened between him and her friend, she tries to play it cool and treats the relationship as nothing more than sex whenever they both feel the urge. But then when they agree to meet up one night and he’s late, she’s stumped as to where he is, but when he turns up with another girl on his arm she lashes out as her emotions get the better of her. Storming out, she’s surprised when he turns up at hers a little under an hour later and they do what they do best–sex.

After that the dynamics of their relationship change a little, Paige is still afraid to trust him with her heart but Kayden is determined to win her over.

I missed a few bits out but I’m not going to tell you everything or it will spoil it and there will be no point reading it :D

So it’s definitely going to be erotic romance, because there will be a fair bit of sex in it and I’m really hoping you’ll like the characters, especially Kayden and Paige :)

Book Review – Obscura Burning

obscura

Name: Obscura Burning

Author: Suzanne van Rooyen

Genre: MM, Young Adult, Sci-Fi

Release Date: 7th December 2012

Rating: 3½ out of 5 stars

I won a copy of this e-book via a giveaway on Bookish Treasures

The world’s going to end in fire…and it’s all Kyle’s fault.

Kyle Wolfe’s world is about to crash and burn. Just weeks away from graduation, a fire kills Kyle’s two best friends and leaves him permanently scarred. A fire that Kyle accidentally set the night he cheated on his boyfriend Danny with their female friend, Shira. That same day, a strange new planet, Obscura, appears in the sky. And suddenly Kyle’s friends aren’t all that dead anymore.

Each time Kyle goes to sleep, he awakens to two different realities. In one, his boyfriend Danny is still alive, but Shira is dead. In the other, it’s Shira who’s alive…and now they’re friends with benefits. Shifting between realities is slowly killing him, and he’s not the only one dying. The world is dying with him. He’s pretty sure Obscura has something to do with it, but with his parents’ marriage imploding and realities shifting each time he closes his eyes, Kyle has problems enough without being the one in charge of saving the world…

I love the cover of this. It’s very sci-fi-y and drew my attention straight away before I even read the synopsis.

So I found this to be a bit confusing with the continuous switching between realities and it took me a while to get used to it, especially keeping up with how all the other characters interacted with Kyle between the two realities he was living. In one people are alive who should have been dead, in the other he was friends with a girl who treated him like crap in the former. Another strange fact is that while he’s in one alternate universe, he continues to function in the other, so he zips back and forth and can be in the middle of doing something that he then doesn’t remember starting.

The girl I just mentioned above, Mya, tries to help Kyle figure out what’s happening by taking him to a scientist/professor who did a paper on multiverses. In the “Danny’s dead” world, I really like her, she’s friendly and fun, while in “Shira’s dead” world, well, she’s not. (I think I got that right…)

As for Danny and Shira, I don’t think I was a fan of them from the start. I’m not sure why, maybe it was because we never really saw enough of them, or the them before the fire that injured/killed them. But by the end, I definitely didn’t like them.

The writing style was easy to get into and I kinda devoured the book when I finally just sat back and let myself read it without any distractions.

Don’t be put off with it having a gay relationship in it, there’s nothing overtly graphic between Danny and Kyle, just references, it doesn’t go into great detail. It doesn’t go into detail with Kyle’s female relationships either.

This was probably a little too sci-fi for me; alternate universes? Erm…not really my thing but I did enjoy it. If you like sci-fi and mystery then you’ll probably like this.

A new story…

So I’ve been thinking of a new story. It’s got me all giddy for some strange reason and me and Natalie have been hammering out the plot for the past two hours or so. I think we have finally come up with something worthwhile and I’ve already started writing a scene from it. It’s leaning more towards erotic romance than anything else and I’m thinking this will be fun to write. Fingers crossed all goes well and I get it finished. Natalie even said she could see it being a full length novel if I can put everything in it that I want to. Oooh, excited!

Tijan

brokescrewed1 brokescrewed2 fallencresthigh

So as you may have noticed I’ve gone back to New Adult books, simply because I cant resist them. So I started reading Broken and Screwed by Tijan last night and I fell in love with the characters, though they drove me potty for a good portion of the book. As soon as I finished it earlier, I bought the second book in the series, Broken and Screwed 2 and I’m just over a third of the way through. It’s all looking much cheerier for the characters in this one, which is great.

I also have Fallen Crest High–I’ve had it for a while now–by Tijan and after reading these two, I cant help wondering why I haven’t read it sooner. I know there’s a second book in that series too, Fallen Crest Family, and if the first is anything like Broken, then I know I’ll devour it.

So I was just wondering have any of you read a book by Tijan? If you have, what did you think? Would you recommend any?

Wolf Claimed Update

wolf claimed

So I thought it was time for an update on Wolf Claimed. It’s coming along alright. I’m at the point where it all comes together and they have to go up against the bad guy…which means it might take me a while to do it because I want it to be good.

But anyway, current word count is as shown:

Cover Reveal – Four Seconds to Lose

FSTL

Name: Four Seconds to Lose (Ten Tiny Breaths, #3)

Author: K.A. Tucker

Release Date: November 4th 2013

Synopsis:

Owning a strip club isn’t the fantasy most guys expect it to be. With long hours, a staff with enough issues to keep a psych ward in business, and the police regularly on his case, twenty-nine year old Cain is starting to second guess his unspoken mission to save the women he employs. And then blond, brown-eyed Charlie Rourke walks through his door, and things get really complicated. Cain abides by a strict “no sleeping with the staff” rule. But being around Charlie challenges Cain’s self-control…and it’s been a long time since any woman has done that.

Twenty-two-year old Charlie Rourke needs a lot of money, really fast, in order to vanish before it’s too late. Taking her clothes off for men makes her stomach curl but Charlie tells herself that at least she’s putting her acting and dancing skills to good use. And though her fellow dancers seem eager to nab their sexy, sophisticated, and genuinely caring boss, she’s not interested. After all, Charlie Rourke doesn’t really exist—and the girl pretending to be her doesn’t need to complicate her life with romance.

Unfortunately, Charlie soon discovers that developing feelings for Cain is inevitable, that those feelings may not be unrequited—but losing him when he finds out what she’s involved with will be more painful than any other sentence awaiting her.

TTB cover

The first in the series, Ten Tiny Breaths–an amazing book, I might add!–is going to be released in paperback on September 24th 2013!
