always thought she was just your average small-town waitress, but she’s
anything but average. Suffering from frequent headaches and vivid daydreams,
her oddities mask a secret hidden deep within her mind—one that could defeat
even the cleverest of psychics.
When a
mysterious circus arrives in town, Caitlyn is immediately drawn to it. While
visiting the hypnotic show, she meets a seer who warns her of a gruesome future
and urges her to stay away. But soon, Caitlyn finds herself ensnared in the
show and the Ringmaster himself.
Recognizing
Caitlyn’s powers for what they are, and believing they are the ones he has been
searching for, the Ringmaster is determined to claim them as his own. Trapped
within the circus and the Ringmaster’s devious grip, Caitlyn realizes that to
escape the seer’s foretold fate, her only choice is to fight. Banding together
with Bevier, an imprisoned psychic, Meg, an eccentric seamstress, and Daniel, a
handsome magician, Caitlyn falls into the Psychic Realm to thwart the
Ringmaster and stop the show before they succumb to his control and are trapped
forever in his spectacle of souls.

High atop a mountain crest sits the grand Gahana Royal Hotel. The world’s
most elite are dying to see what lies beyond its iron gates, yet only a select
few earn an invitation.
How do they find themselves on that VIP list? By being truly monstrous
human beings capable of the most fiendish acts. Once an invitation is extended,
the evaluation begins. The Court of Savages thrive off the hunt, the thrill of
the chase and the delight of the feast. Yet they adhere to a strict code. Never
will they harm a human who is innocent, good, or reformed. Their beastly
pallets require the most vile of beings and an invitation to the secretive
resort has just been extended to London Stiles.
Can she prove there’s enough goodness in her to save, or will her
check-out date be postponed indefinitely?
Excerpt:
The last to
speak was Nola. When she spoke, everyone listened intently, her presence
commanded silence. Especially when it came to Lathan. His dark eyes constantly
watched her, even as she was just merely watching others. Whether she knew he
was looking her way was never known.
She pulled
her red hair out of her face.
“And these
humans you hired as staff, they’ll keep our secret?”
Amon
nodded.
“How can
you be sure?” she urged. Amon smiled at her. She was his favorite, not because
he was in love with her like Lathan was, but because he respected her more than
the others.
“Do you
doubt me?”
Without
hesitation, she said, “I do not trust humans, Amon. Do you not remember how my
family died? How the humans hunted us down like we were the monsters. All we
killed then were their livestock and they killed my family like they were
killing their children. All we took from them was their food. What would the
humans do here, if they knew we were killing their own kind?”
A good
question for Amon, who didn’t look shaken by it. Still, she didn’t trust Amon’s
plan. He leaned forward and touched her cold cheek.
“My dear
Nola, you must understand that I have this under control. I am older than all
of you put together. I have seen the earth before humans inhabited it. Before
they became the kings and queens that ruled. My life has given me one thing,
and that’s an understanding of how they work.
“I know
what makes them tick. What they desire. And that is to see their kind suffer.
Not the ones who are innocent, no. The humans who deliver nothing but cruelty.
The hatred they have for their kind that do bad onto others. The evil they hold
in their hearts for those who have hurt them. It’s delicious. Can you not taste
it, my friends?”
Amon
pressed a button and the door to their room opened. In walked fifty humans,
dressed in Amon’s strict uniform as the new staff of the hotel. Their fear
apparent on their faces and in the air.
“Taste it,
friends,” Amon said quietly before he addressed his staff. “Humans, tell my
court here how much you hate the humans who have hurt you. But, do not use your
words. Use your mind. Think of how they damaged you inside and how badly they
deserve to die by our hands. Go ahead, you are safe with us.”
With that
they closed their eyes, or stared at the monsters who sat in front of them. And
Nola sniffed the air around her, her teeth-baring and she rubbed her throat as
the familiar feeling of hunger clung to her senses. Mariet’s teeth chattered as
she gripped the table in front of her; hunger boiling in her belly.
Lathan
stared at Nola as he had learned to control his hunger, but not to control his
desire for Nola. God how he’d love to pull her onto the table and undress her.
He wanted nothing more than to stare down at her bare pale body and treat her
like the goddess she was.
The twins
writhed in their seats, barely able to control the burning rage in their bones.
They were born to deliver justice to these people. The Sister’s Karma, they
were sometimes called, but sirens of the sea they truly were. For them the hunger was overpowering, for
they truly only fed on humans who did the worst. Siren’s often got overlooked
the most.
“Do you
believe me yet?”
As they all
anticipated feeding, now more than ever, Amon dismissed his staff. He addressed
his friends once again.
“Well, what
say you? Are you to be in my court? To trust me in taking care of you and
delivering justice to those humans who have been wronged. I assure you, you
will be treated as the royalty you are.”
Lathan
smiled at Amon, and gave his nod of approval. The twin’s both said, “Aye,” in
unison. Mariet made Amon promise that the humans who resided in the sleepy town
some miles away would never know what was happening. Once he did, she seemed
content.
It was Nola
who was the hardest to convince. There were too many what if’s for her to
consider. She’d seen too much horror in her life and she wanted a peaceful existence.
“Nola,”
Lathan said, addressing her from across the table. “You lost a family, let Amon
give you that back. With us you’ll have safety. Out there, there are no
promises.”
Something
struck a chord within as she seemed to relax a bit more. Lathan was known to
calm many. Perhaps it was his dashing good looks, or maybe his deep voice. But
whatever the reason, she said, “I’m trusting you here. Do not make me regret
it.”
“Oh, I
won’t,” Lathan assured her. He meant it.
“Well then
it’s settled, we are the Court of Savages, truly and surely. Welcome to your
new home.” Amon said.

The boy she’d lost, and finally found again, is not the same boy she remembers. As one of the most powerful Sixes, Kale has changed in ways Dez can’t ignore.
He swore he’d never kill, and now he’s out for blood.
He swore he’d never harm her, and now he struggles to control his fatal touch.
They’ve been to hell and back, over and over, but this time they might not survive the fire.
When the truth at the root of the Denazen Corporation’s origins begins to unfold, those behind the scenes will do anything to keep it hidden.
Dez and Kale will be pushed to their breaking point. As long buried secrets come to light, they must fight for their freedom—and each other—as they never have before.

EXCERPT
A figure crossing the lawn caught my attention. He was tall, just over six feet, with broad shoulders and a slim but muscular build. He wore a dark hoodie with a baseball cap and had the hood pulled over top. It was the kind of outfit designed to be generic. Head down and hands stuffed into either side pocket, gait steady but unhurried. Everything about him was an obvious attempt at invisibility.
Unfortunately, he failed.
This boy would stand out in a crowd of two million. It wasn’t his looks—you couldn’t see a speck of skin under all that dark clothing. It was more the way he moved. Like some celestial being sent to earth in order to show mere mortals just how insignificant we really were. His pace was slow and steady, but there was an underlying urgency to it. Something predatory and fierce. Every step was made with tight-laced control and executed with panther-like grace. The smooth, slinking crawl as an animal approached its prey, just before pouncing for the kill.
And pounce he did.

Excerpt
“Don’t take another step.”
My breath catches. My fingers curl around the handle of my
knife, but my feet are glued to the ground three steps outside the door.
There’s only one Enforcer, but the others can’t be far away. His gun is aimed
at my heart, and a dark smile plays on his lips.
“Are you the only one here?” he asks, voice deep.
“Just me.” I hope River and Elle are already hiding. Or maybe
they left through the back. I resist the urge to look at Atticus’s and
Magellan’s transmissions on my watch.
He narrows his eyes. “Out here all alone. What is it you’re
doing at an abandoned warehouse in the middle of the night?”
“Delivering a pizza.” I give him an easy smile, but my voice
isn’t as steady as I want it to be. When he glares, I shrug. “I saw the
warehouse and got curious.” But I’ve heard pizza is really good.
“In the middle of the night,” he says. “Hmm. And what’s in the
satchel?”
It’s not my satchel he should be worried about. It’s the
throwing knife in my hand.
“Nothing special.”
“I’ve been hearing stories about a girl they call the Scorpion,”
he says.
My heart stops. The Scorpion. How do they know? I pinch the
blade of the knife between my fingers.
He smiles. “Is that you?”
My throat is too dry to answer.
There’s movement behind him. He whips around as River appears
near the dumpsters, hands up. Crap! With a flick of my wrist, I fling the knife
at the Enforcer. It lodges in his thigh, and he howls in pain. Before he can
recover, River yanks the gun from his grasp. Elle is right behind him, eyes
wide.
“Out of here. Now,” I growl, racing away from the warehouse.
River and Elle are close by my side as we rush through the streets, dodging
dumpsters and bags of trash. The slow burn of asphalt from the heat of the day
reaches my nose. Lanterns shine in some windows, but it’s late, and, for the
most part, we can only see our path by the glow of the moon. From here, the
Light District is countless blocks away, a firefly of light buzzing with
energy.
“Are you hurt?” River asks, glancing over.
“Not as bad as the Enforcer.” I brush off his concern even
though my leg throbs and blood rolls down my calf. I shut down my receiver to
save power. I’ll summon Atticus and Magellan later. “Lost my favorite knife,
though.” One of the few mementos I have from my dad.
He lifts his arm. “Got a gun.”
“I told you this was a bad idea,” Elle says, breath short. “I
heard what he said. The Enforcer.”
I slow down after we’ve put some distance between us and the
warehouse. My heart still races, and my mind whirls. The Enforcers know about
me.
“So did I,” River says. “That’s why they were there tonight.
They were looking for the Scorpion.”

Excerpt
“Good morning!” Owen called over the crowd. “And good luck.”
He turned and faced the principals. “If the principals would shake hands.”
“Wait!” I shouted, alarmed. “That’s it? They’re just going
to start it?”
For once Patrick had nothing snarky or sarcastic to say. He
looked terrified, his face as white as a ghost. This was really happening and
there was nothing we could do about it.
“Students, face each other.”
I looked over my shoulder at Kara and Jared. Their hands
were interlaced, bodies ready to spring.
“Enter the simulation now.”
The tingling sensation was back as I pressed the button on
my I.D. bracelet with a trembling hand. Just like the day before, the outside
edges of the high school disappeared with a blue ripple and the vivid colors
returned, but I was too scared now to enjoy them.
Owen’s voice continued to give instructions: “Turn on all
weapons.” The sound of tasers activating became a dull roar while the excess
electricity seemed to dissolve into air already thick with expectancy. I
clutched my weapon tightly as I watched Aaron several feet away twirl his taser
in his hand in anticipation. I knew the only way Squad Treble stood a chance
was to never let our weapons go.
Owen, the woman, and the principals moved toward the Super
Children, out of the way of the battle about to take place. I looked to Patrick
who held onto his staff like his life depended on it. It would have been so
easy to watch him run to his own demise, but I couldn’t do it—I was too
terrified to be alone. Despite everything I felt, I knew I had to follow him to
that supply shed or be eliminated as I stood there in fear.
“Prepare to battle! Ready…”
Patrick gave me a curt nod as he got into position, ready to
run. I took one last glance around, trying to remember partnerships and
positions, even faces I recognized from other squads, just in case.
“Set…”
I took a deep breath and attempted to focus; what happened
now would set the stage for everything else. A moment’s hesitation and it could
all be over. I had to believe I would make it longer than that. I had gone
toe-to-toe with a Chi Rho Iota lackey. Knock out in the first few minutes was
not an option.
You know that feeling when someone is watching you and you
can feel it? I turned my head just in time to see Brayden’s soft brown eyes
looking at me. His face was grave, and it made my heart palpitate. I would have
been elated had my time not run out.
“Go!”
