Is NESSIE a Prehistoric TURTLE?

The plesio-turtle or long-necked sea turtle theory has been doing the rounds for a while. I covered the idea in 2013 in this article, being inspired by a Nessie documentary from 2009 that looked at it. I wrote a more recent article in 2021 where giant turtles had been proposed in 1933 as an explanation for the Loch Ness Monster, albeit without the long neck. The theory is rational enough and has been applied to other forms of aquatic cryptids.

Now I don't know when this theory came into being, but it looks like someone was thinking about it back in about 1895 as the above four-inch Chocolat Suchard "trading" card shows. However, what the artist was trying to say is not so apparent. We have the traditional plesiosaurus but with a shell on its back, like the turtles of today. Huge KOMODO DRAGON Threatens Iraqi Village

A village in Iraq is on edge due to a monstrous Komodo dragon that is believed to be responsible for slaying a staggering 21 sheep. According to a local media report, the predatory monitor lizard recently began targeting livestock in the community of Sarsula. Resident Omar Ali Surji lamented the presence of the "strange, powerful and dangerous animal" as it is said to have feasted on nearly two dozen of his sheep. "I tried to catch him with the help of dogs," he recalled, but the pursuit proved to be futile as "he is very fast and maneuverable, and whenever we get close to him, he moves very quickly."

NO MORE SNAKES!

Snake bite victims are endangering medical staff by bringing the reptiles with them to hospital, doctors say.

In Queensland's Wide Bay region, doctors have come face to face with some of the world's most venomous snakes captured by patients believing it'll help with identification and treatment.

In one case earlier this month, emergency staff at Bundaberg Hospital, four hours north of Brisbane, were handed a plastic food container with a small eastern brown snake inside peering back at them. Have you ever met someone who looked just like you? Perhaps you’ve walked up to a person you thought you knew only to find they were a stranger. If so, you may have met a real-life doppelgänger.
What is a doppelgänger? The word comes from German meaning “double goer.” Today, it’s often used to describe two strangers who look so much alike they could be twins. Seeing a doppelgänger can be startling. That’s true whether it’s a person who looks just like you or someone who could be your friend’s twin. It’s no wonder, then, that doppelgängers are also common in frightening stories.
Many times, a doppelgänger is the double of another character. They are like the character in many ways, most often in looks. However, the things that make them different are more important. The doppelgänger often differs from the main character in the values they hold. This results in them making choices that lead them down a different path. For example, “The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” by Robert Louis Stevenson. In this story, both characters share the same body. However, they are opposites, with Dr. Jekyll representing good and Mr. Hyde evil.
There is also a historical attribute to this phenomenon. President Abraham Lincoln supposedly saw his doppelgänger when he saw two faces in the mirror on the night of his first election in 1860. The second face was pale and sickly, which his wife, Mary, interpreted as a sign of death or sickness during his second term. Only a few months after his second election, Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth.

I Believe That I Met CHRIST

I received the following email a few days ago. I don't know the writer or if others have received the same correspondence. The woman's name will not be revealed at this time, so I refer to her as 'E.'

"Hi. I writing to you because I believe that you can understand what I experienced. My accident occurred in 2016. I was driving an older car near my home one early morning. For some unknown reason, I lost control of the vehicle, and veered off the road, repeatedly rolling down a sloping embankment. I was being shaken around badly. I remember feeling like I was flying and that I didn't land or descend. Instead, I continued flying.

Then I suddenly stopped flying and I was being gently pulled upward. I realized at that point that something was happening and I was not dreaming. I peered at the tops of the pine trees and the area between me, the grass, and the area around me. I was able to see better than with my glasses. When I gazed up at the sky in front of me and noticed that everything was in clear focus. Then I felt the chilly Spring air on my skin and the morning Sun's warmth. I then looked down at the ground. My head was partially out of the broken driver's side window. I looked down at my upside-down car with my body angled, lying on the inside of the car roof.

That is when I realized that my astral body had separated from my physical form. Then I witnessed a vortex or a gap in the sky, that was filled with clouds and pink-colored plasma-like light. Stars were present inside the hole and the shape of a Galaxy revolving around. Then a bright white light started to expand from the Galaxy.

I've always known that God exists. When I was younger I would ask God how big the universe is just before going to sleep. I felt the sensation of traveling great distances and realized that the cosmos was boundless. I had strong cognitive skills and was a science and mathematics prodigy. By the age of six, I could work out difficult equations and before I could speak I had prophetic dreams. I had a dream about my family dying when I was eight. I told them that in my dream they would perish in an accident but they ignored me. I wanted to believe the grown-ups in my life when they said it was all a dream because I did not want my parents to pass away. I was horrified by the accident of their plane. Mentally, emotionally, and spiritually I believed it was terrible of God to send me dreams like that, knowing that I had no influence over the results. To make matters worse I was no longer able to discern reality with such clarity, so I pleaded with him to stop. It caused me to lose sight of God and my relationship with him. I started doing drugs, having wild parties, and doing harm to both myself and others. 

Getting back to my accident, I was shown a review of my life from God's perspective. I was neither religiously raised nor baptized. All of my sorrows and faults were presented to me. Then I was shown something that couldn't explain. I could be mistaken but it seemed to be what others refer to as Christ. It wasn't the Christ that we typically see in the artwork. I could hardly fathom the degree of compassion this being possessed in the dazzling light. It was so pure and benevolent. I wasn't even able to comprehend the incredible love until it touched me. I couldn't understand at the time that this being was more than what it seemed to be.

Then I began to pose questions like a young child would. I was encouraged to ask whatever I wished. For some unknown reason, I was curious about otherworldly life and what existed in the cosmos. I asked if aliens, UFOs, extraterrestrial life, parallel universes, and all of the above truly existed. I then heard a quiet expression of enjoyment and it seemed like someone patted me on the shoulder. Then it seemed like I accelerated through time and space.

I then realized that I had to go back. I received a message that I needed to accept full responsibility for my life's actions. I hurriedly put myself together as best I could and traveled back through the light. I needed to return to my body vessel as soon as possible. I was aware that Christ would be there for me from that time forward.

I then opened my eyes. I was still alive. My body disagreed with my spirit which knew everything was okay. I'm aware that my body believed it would die multiple times, but my spirit didn't agree. I felt warmth throughout my entire body. I was stabilized and kept in my body. I was transported to Minneapolis so that an innovative groundbreaking surgery would set the standard for a new kind of bone-rebuilding process. I was hospitalized for 5 weeks before being discharged to a nursing home where I would be rehabilitated for 6 months. 9 months later I was able to start walking, but I needed many years of mental and physical healing and change.

Today, in April 2024, I am totally transformed. I still don't remember what this Christ being told me but I know that the information is still with me. I was compelled to contact you. I was told that you would understand. Please tell the world." E

NOTE: The email that I received from 'E' was titled, "I Believe That I Met Christ." So, that is the title of this post. I've received several near-death and out-of-body experiences previously, but nothing quite like this. I'm hoping that this person will contact me. Lon

MEN IN BLACK? Black Van & Possible Telephone Tap

A LaCrosse, Wisconsin resident recalls his encounter with a black van. Soon after, he started hearing strange clicking sounds on his telephone. Were these MIBs?

I received the following account:

"I had a strange encounter with my cousins and some friends in 1998 while living in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. I was 20 years old at the time, and we were very much into conspiracy theories, aliens, and the like. This was before YouTube was what it would become and the internet was still growing. We’d explore the internet looking into aliens, chat rooms, forums, the whole nine. We’d try and find footage out of Russia or buy old Soviet tapes and military records. Anything we could find. We wanted to write a book.

One night we were outside having a cigarette and walked around the block. The block was an oval shape and there was a hill at the top of a part of the road with a street light. We’d usually stop up there and chat before going back to my house so no one would complain that we were smoking. We didn’t drink or smoke weed, just Marlboros.

A black van sped up around the block and up the hill. Immediately upon going up the hill it slowed down and stopped right in front of us. No license plate in the front or the back. The van was under the street light and was spotless. Brand new, shiny rims, tinted windows. It made no noise and sounded like electric cars do today.

The driver-side window was halfway rolled down and it was pitch black inside. We couldn’t see the driver. We said hello and just started walking slowly. We were in a suburban area and there were houses everywhere. We didn’t run but were scared, we knew if we screamed someone would hear us so we tried to play it cool and kept walking lighting up another cigarette each along the way.

The van kept pace with us until we got to the bottom of the hill by my street. It sped up and swerved down my street and was out of sight in the blink of an eye. We got to my house and saw the van in the dirt lot across the street just chillin'. At the end of my block was a white van by the stop sign, also no plates. After about 10 minutes both drove away and we never saw them again.

After that, for several months, each time I would answer the telephone in my bedroom, I would hear a series of clicks while I was conversing. Very weird. I replaced the telephone, and the clicks stopped. Then after a few weeks, the clicking resumed.

No one from that group of friends is a believer like me, but they all say that something strange happened that night. Not saying it was the MIB but it was something really weird. I could not sleep for a week and was too afraid to go anywhere alone." Y

UPRIGHT CAT-LIKE CRYPTID Seen by Multiple Witnesses in Alachua County, Florida

I was contacted by a reader who recently was participating in a Reddit thread in response to sightings of an upright cat-like cryptid that was seen in Alachua County, Florida.

I decided to post the entire response thread so the readers could follow the series of sightings and the details.

I recently received an email from 'Chris':

"Hi Lon - I'm a big fan of your site/podcast. Please check out the Reddit link below, (https://www.reddit.com/r/Cryptozoology/comments/11zaipz/cryptids_of_florida/) where a woman reported a sighting by her husband of a bizarre cat-like creature in Gainesville, Florida, which is where I live.

Hello my name is Mark and I'm a 40 year old, I had encounter with a creature 3 years ago, and I was with a friend and his son when the 3 of us had our encounter, I live in Alachua County, Florida and I'm trying to find someone I can talk to about what we encountered that night 3 years ago!! I will never forget the eyes of that creature. If anyone can help point me in the right direction on who I can speak with on what I saw, because what I seen, I thought was something in books, I'd never imagine that it was real and existed until that night! And what I encountered is not native to the United States!

Hey Mark, my name is Deborah. I just came across this thread because my husband saw a creature here in Alachua country, specifically Gainesville, a few months ago when he was driving. It was late, past 1 am. It just so happens that today he picked up (Uber) the young man that happened to live in the house he saw the creature at. The man confirmed he saw it once too! My husband said he didn’t see the eyes but he did notice it had a head similar to a cat, but the two front limbs were shorter than the back limbs and it would get down on the 4 but then stand up on the hind legs. It looked like it was hairless. The man confirmed the features too! What did you see?

Hi Deborah, my name is Chris. I live in Gainesville. Can you tell us what part of Gainesville this occurred in? Also, how large was the creature? Did it walk on two legs or just stand up, then drop down to all fours to walk? Also what color was it, and what were its eyes like? Was there eyeshine? Any details would be welcome.

Hello Chris. So, this happened on 34th St, heading toward 39th Ave (nearing NW 39th Ave). My husband said it was a weird mix between a cat a human. It was hairless. He says it had a baby's skin tone (light-skinned). The skin seemed thin because he noticed muscle definition and hardly any fat. As how it would stand, he said the best thing he can compare it to is a kangaroo. The front limbs were shorter than the hind limbs. He first noticed it because he saw something crossing the street. At first, he thought it was a fox but it was too small. Then he thought it was a wolf, but he figured that would be highly unlikely and it looked too strange to be a wolf. He said he ran the yellow light to get closer to it and as he approached it, it stood on it's hind legs (which my husband describes as a cat's legs) and it stared at him. It stood about 4-5 feet tall. No eye shine. Completely black eyes. As my husband got closer, it got back on its 4 limbs and entered the house's front yard and disappeared in the brush/trees. I want to be clear that my husband doesn't drink or do any drugs. He's been working ride share and delivery here in Gainesville since we moved in 2022. He says this was one of the most disturbing experiences he's ever had. There was also one other experience which weirded him out, back in 2022. He was driving near the cow pasture, off Archer, and it was also late at night when suddenly a large boulder sized rock flew across the street and landed on the other side. It went between the SUV in front of him and my husband's car. The SUV in front of him stopped, to check it out. But my hubby kept driving because he said that whatever can throw a rock that size across the street that way, he doesn't want to meet it. What about you, Chris? What have you seen here? What can you tell us about these experiences or about what exists here?

I forgot to add that the head was cat-like. Cat-shaped.

That's not too far from me - I'm on SW 8th Lane right off of SW 61st St. I am a recent arrival in Gainesville (May 2023) so I have not seen anything here yet, but I'm always looking, as I'm intensely interested in cryptozoology/ufology etc. The creature your husband described has some resemblance to the Chupacabra sightings that have occurred in Puerto Rico, particularly the short front limbs and kangaroo-like posture. I hope you don't mind, but I have a few more questions:

-Did it walk on two legs, or just stand, then drop down on all fours to walk?

-Did he notice a tail? If so, did it appear like cat's tail (moving fluidly) or was it stiff like a dog's tail?

-Were the eyes round, or almond-shaped? Were they disproportionately large for its face? Did they appear to "wrap around" the sides of the head?

-You say the head was cat-like. By that, do you mean it was it round with no discernible muzzle? Did your husband notice any details about the mouth? Were teeth or fangs visible?

-Were the ears relatively short, pointed, and erect on top of the head, like a cat? Or were they long? Or were no ears evident?

The creature as described does not fit neatly into any of the pre-existing cryptid "boxes" - i.e., sasquatch, Dogman, Chupacabra, gray crawlers (AKA "The Rake"), etc. This makes your husband's sighting extremely intriguing.

Would you mind if I sent a link to this page to Albert Rosales? He is a Florida-based researcher who has written the "Humanoid Encounters" book series, as well as "UFOs over Florida". He might know if similar creatures have been seen.

Re: the boulder incident - that is classic sasquatch behavior - or, as it is known here in Florida, the skunk ape. Where is this cow pasture located? I'm familiar with Archer Road of course, but only the part where all the shopping plazas are.

I apologize for asking so many questions, and I understand if you don't have answers for all of them.

This is great. I actually have a site and page dedicated to educating and helping people who have paranormal experiences.

So, if you want to reach out to Albert Rosales and let him know, that's cool. It seems he speaks Spanish, which is great cause then my husband can chat with him and tell him everything.

As for the boulder incident, I agree it was definitely characteristic of Sasquatch/Bigfoot/Skunk Ape behavior. It was were the UF Beef Teaching Unit is. If you're heading East on Archer (toward Shands Hospital), before getting to the fork where Archer splits onto SW 16th Ave, you make a right onto SW 23rd Terrace/SW 23rd St. It was along that street. If you reach 16th, you've gone too far.

To answer your questions:

Walk- It was originally on all fours, but stood on the hind legs as my husband's car approached. Then it got back on all 4s to get out of the street and into the brush.

Tail- He didn't notice a tail.

Eyes: Almond shape, large eyes, disproportionate to face.

Head: Yes, rounder with no muzzle, flatter facial features. He didn't notice fangs or teeth protruding. Was more taken back by eyes and shape of head and body.

Ears: Didn't notice ears.

The Chupacabra is a good guess. What makes me think it's not a Chupacabra is how he described the head. From what I know, Chupacabra have a muzzle like feature. But who really knows, I've read about so many different descriptions of Chupacabra that I can't really know for sure.

Thank you for your answers to my questions. The fact that your husband did not see a tail is really interesting, as are the almond-shaped black eyes. We're in the range for bobcats, but they have clearly evident ears, yellowish eyes, and they do exhibit eyeshine. Also, they are not known for standing up. That's very cryptid behavior, i.e, acting almost as if it WANTS to be seen. (Like when a sasquatch waits until the one car on a lonely road late at night is 50 ft away to cross the road.) Most animals in that situation would just scurry off as quickly as possible.

Re: the Chupacabra - Yes, those waters are muddy indeed. Most of the sightings in the continental U.S. seem to be hairless dogs, mangy coyotes, and the like. The true Chupacabra is the one seen in Puerto Rico in the 1990s, with the almond-shaped red eyes, bipedal posture/locomotion, and distinctive spines or quills running from the crown of the head down the back. While your husband's encounter does not fit neatly into the Chupacabra category, that is the best match I can think of out of all the well-known cryptids, and it is certainly more Chupacabra-like than many of the recent canid-type Chupacabra reports. I have the sense that it was something quite different, however. I wish there was a way to find out if there have been any missing/injured/killed pets or other animals in that area recently! I tend to doubt that the police would be forthcoming about such matters.

Can you tell me the date when the sighting occurred, or at least an approximation? I would like to check some databases and attempt to correlate it with other paranormal events that may have occurred in this area.

And no need to thank me for engaging. I love talking about all this and meeting like-minded and curious individuals to share this space; that's what it's all about. :)

I also agree that the behavior was very cryptid like. I used to work in a wildlife center as an outreach educator, which means I did a bunch of research about Florida's wildlife/ecosystems to be able to do my presentations accurately regarding our flora and fauna, so I am pretty familiar with what we have around here. At first, I did think bobcat, possibly panther (even though we are a bit out of its normal range), but, like you said, the behavior just didn't fit.

And I agree with you about it not fitting into the Chupacabra description either. As for missing/injured/killed pets or animals--I wonder if maybe Facebook would have a group or page dedicated to missing animals in the area? Maybe a local shelter may have a similar bulletin? This info is more difficult to find, for sure. Not the police, because the police here hides a bunch of things to protect the University's image.

As for when, I can give you an approximation, because this happened months ago. He knows it happened at the end of last year, but can't say exactly when. But it was definitely sometime between November and December.

Hi Deborah - Sorry it took me so long to get back to you.

On the NUFORC (National UFO Reporting Center) website, I found this report from 1/9/2024 in Gainesville: https://nuforc.org/sighting/?id=179976

That was the closest thing to Nov/Dec last year.

The BFRO database yielded nothing relevant, but you should look at it if you have not already. Just google BFRO, and click on the map of the USA, then select Florida. You can check counties individually from there. Alachua has some interesting sightings but nothing very recent. Levy county has more, however.

I sent a link to this page to Lon Strickler of the phantomsandmonsters.com website and YouTube channel. I think he would find it interesting. If you have never looked at his site and channel, you should check it out.

The second face was pale and sickly, which his wife, Mary, interpreted as a sign of death or sickness during his second term. Only a few months after his second election, Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth.

10-FOOT-TALL, RED-EYED 'MOTHMAN' Encountered in North Saanich, BC

A North Saanich, BC man was sitting in his truck that was parked in his driveway. He sees something standing nearby. The winged humanoid rose up, standing 10 feet and height.

I received the following account:

"Hi. I had an encounter with what I now believe to be Mothman.

In January 2022, in North Saanich, British Columbia, I was sitting in my truck on my driveway having a cigarette and listening to music. It was late so it was dark out with minimal moonlight. It has always been my routine to walk out to my truck in the evening, have a beer, and some smokes, and play music. Recently for a week or so before the encounter, I had suddenly become very afraid of the dark, like something was out there watching me. I jogged to the safety of my truck that day. 

So I was sitting there still feeling afraid and I looked out the window, to see something that looked like a deer on the driveway, then it turned to look right at me and I saw two large glowing red eyes. It was obviously crouching at first because when it stood up and was around 10 feet tall, winged, and humanoid with the appearance of small horns or something on its head. It stared right at me and I felt paralyzed, overwhelming fear came over me and I couldn’t look away from its eyes. We stared at each other for about 5 minutes. It barely moved but it started shuffling at the end and I quickly looked away to find the lock on my door. I looked back and it had completely vanished. Obviously must have flown off while I was distracted, I looked everywhere but up. 

The feeling of fear at night lasted for another week or two, then it was gone and everything seemed normal again.

I had no idea what this thing might be. I only recently heard of descriptions of the Mothmen so I figured I’d contact you." K

INSECTS & OTHER ANIMALS Have Consciousness

In 2022, researchers at the Bee Sensory and Behavioral Ecology Lab at Queen Mary University of London observed bumblebees doing something remarkable: The diminutive, fuzzy creatures were engaging in activity that could only be described as play. Given small wooden balls, the bees pushed them around and rotated them. The behavior had no obvious connection to mating or survival, nor was it rewarded by the scientists. It was, apparently, just for fun.

The study on playful bees is part of a body of research that a group of prominent scholars of animal minds cited today, buttressing a new declaration that extends scientific support for consciousness to a wider suite of animals than has been formally acknowledged before. For decades, there’s been a broad agreement among scientists that animals similar to us — the great apes, for example —  have conscious experience, even if their consciousness differs from our own. In recent years, however, researchers have begun to acknowledge that consciousness may also be widespread among animals that are very different from us, including invertebrates with completely different and far simpler nervous systems. BLACK-EYED STALKER Pursues Woman & Daughter in Mall, Then Vanishes

A black-eyed man is observed watching a man's wife and daughter while in a mall. The stranger tries to snatch the daughter. Security is alerted, but just seems to vanish into thin air!

I received the following creepy account:

"I was the store manager of a mall computer/gaming store in San Antonio, Texas. This was long before Game Stop and cell phones. We were located on the left side facing the middle of the mall with J. C. Penney's to the left at the end. This detail plays into what happened.

My ex-wife is a strikingly beautiful Latina woman. She was only 20 and my daughter was one and a half at the time. Unfortunately, fortunately for us, we had very beautiful babies. They almost looked like dolls. The reason I say this is my daughter attracted way too much attention as a baby. We stopped going out in public because people were constantly approaching us and trying to touch her.

It's a Sunday, I would work the whole day since it was a short day. The three of us would go to work. My ex-wife would dress our daughter and herself up and make a day of it. She liked to shop and wander for the day coming back to have lunch. Being the manager, I took long breaks as well.

Everything is going along fine like any other Sunday. I go out to give her some money and my spidey street senses start going crazy. I look to the left and see a man intently looking at my wife and our daughter. I meet his gaze he doesn't look away. I asked my wife if she knew the person staring at her. We both looked up and he was gone. Couldn't have been three seconds since I last looked at him. There was something strange about him, that I remember to this day. He was dressed in a dark gray suit with a dark gray overcoat.

Not to trouble her, I told her not to worry about it. We had lunch and we took the long way back to the store. We stopped by mall security. I introduced her to the security guys who had become good buddies. I pulled them aside and told them what had happened. They were concerned. We stop by the info booth and I tell the person working there to let me know if she sees him.

My ex-wife goes shopping in the J.C. Penney's store. Before she goes in, I tell her about the man in the gray suit. She let me know she'll keep an eye out for him. There's a call on the store phone. An employee tells me it's the phone, and I'm like yeah I heard it ring. He tells me he needs some help. He pulls me aside and says it's your wife and she sounds scared as hell. I jump on the phone. She tells me the man I had described, has been following her for over half an hour. When he first showed up, she said he was reaching for our daughter.

I immediately call security. They come up the middle with my employees standing watch on the entrance to J.C. Penney's. I go out the back into the parking garage which was no more than fifty feet away. Only two entrances to the store, front and back. Lots of emergency exits on the parking garage side. So the only entrance not covered was in the front. Luck would have it, a police officer had pulled someone over from the street and was in the front parking lot.

By this point, I don't want the gentleman to go away, I want him caught. Everyone starts converging on the store. He's got nowhere to go right. They walk to the station where my wife is surrounded by the store manager, and several employees and they have our daughter behind the counter. The police officer had been alerted. Mall security escorts both of them out of the store to me, we put them in our car and they drive straight to her mother's.

They continue to search the store every nook and cranny. He was never found. To this day I can remember every detail. But the detail that sticks with me most, is his eyes were coal black."

Does a HYENA-CROCODILE HYBRID CRYPTID Stalk the Streets of Belize City?

A Belize City resident contacted me about a horrible-looking creature that is said to roam the dark streets at night killing pets and scaring others. Any idea what this is?

I received the following account:

"Hello, sir. I once saw something that terrified me (it was not a crawler). It was in Belize City, Belize and it looked like some kind of horrible hyena-crocodile hybrid. I saw it from a distance, (about 50 yards away) but clearly and for an extended moment, with a park bench for size reference.

Adults had no idea what I was talking about, but the kids enthusiastically confirmed that there was a monster that kept killing street dogs that they played with and that if you had a dog you liked, make sure you brought him off the street at night.

For decades it was a true and honest mystery to me. Chupacabra? I don't know. Then like last week I saw a picture of a hairless, melanistic spectacled bear, and like, that's my monster. It makes no sense that one would be in Belize City (they only live in isolated regions nowhere near Belize, but still in South America). But it makes way more sense than me having seen some kind of extraterrestrial goat vampire.

A very believable scenario to me would be that it was a legitimate zoo or circus animal that had been released it out in the jungle for fear of other animals getting sick, and then it naturally entered a city to find a way to live. Scavenging garbage it encountered dogs, and being a spectacled bear, it defended its garbage, realizing that dogs were a pretty readily available calorie source in the process.

Anyway, my point is, that there's got to be some real thing behind the mystery." P

SAD-EYED CRYPTID Described by Virginia Witness

A Virginia teen reports seeing an unknown quadruped in the neighborhood where she once lived. She has become obsessed with finding out what this creature is.

The following account was forwarded to me:

"This all happened about 4 years ago when I lived in King and Queen County, Virginia, and living in a small neighborhood with a cul-de-sac. I'd only lived there for maybe a year and things were always a little off. From me almost getting kidnapped in my own yard by an old man running at me with a stick after chasing a squirrel near his yard. Things weren't the safest.

One night, 10-11 at night, I needed water and went to the kitchen. Our kitchen was at the back of the house and connected to the back porch that had a really big deck on it. Over 20 people and a good quality grill could easily fit on it with no problem. There was one big window above the sink with super thin curtains that was always open because we didn't have AC back then. 

So, I had gotten my bottle of water, and while taking a sip I felt like something was staring at me. I closed the fridge door and turned my whole body to look straight at the window and saw the 'thing.' It was just staring at me with these sad-looking eyes. The whole thing in general was so messed up looking I really don't know how to describe it. I was frozen for a second but for some reason, I walked exactly 2 steps closer to the window. I guess because I just didn't understand what I was looking at and the thing took off. I ran to the window and watched the thing run on all fours and jump over the neighbor's fence causing their German Shepherds to start going off, so I knew it wasn't just my imagination.

I became obsessed with it and drew it and showed my friends and even told and showed my dad, but they all laughed it off like some joke. It's NOT a joke. I saw it frequently after that. It would show up at my school, house, woods everything and there was a higher number of dead animals around that time too. After a few months, it slowly started not appearing as much and completely stopped 2-3 months before I moved from that area. I generally forgot about the whole thing until my boyfriend and I were talking about cryptids, and I told him about what I saw.

Now that I remember I'm obsessed again and need help with what that thing was and if someone else has seen anything similar. I think I'm going crazy no matter how many times I look up what it looked like or do deep dives on cryptids nothing comes up and I'm starting to think maybe everyone was right and it was just my imagination. But I KNOW what I saw, and someone has to know what I'm talking about so please help me."

NOTE: King and Queen County, Virginia is located on the Middle Peninsula, northeast of Richmond and along the northern shore of the York River. It is an area where I have received Bigfoot and cryptid canine reports previously. Is that what the witness observed? Lon

Interesting Native Peoples' Concept of SASQUATCH

In her 1916 book, 'To The American Indian,' Yurok Native woman, Lucy Thompson wrote about traditional beliefs of Sasquatch:

“The Klamath Indians in bringing down their legends from the creation of man until the present day, say that some were made to be good and honorable, some bad and some were real bad and mean, which they termed devils, or Oh-mah-ha. We have the conception of the invisible Satan, (Sey-elth, or wicked old woman) and a real living devil as walks the earth, and we fear them as they will harm us if they get the opportunity. We have had these living Indian devils (living human beings) all through the long and weary centuries, ever since the creation of mankind, such devils as we find in every race and nation of the earth. “

So, it’s clear she’s talking about flesh and blood creatures, and not only that but humans. She continues:

“Our Indian devils are Indians who for some reason or cause leave the tribe and go far away into the lonely mountains, and into the depths of the forests, where they live near the streams and places almost inaccessible. In their loneliness, they roam through the forests and over the mountains like some wild animals of prey. They forget the language of their mothers and become something like wild beasts, fleeing from the sight of human beings.

In olden times, the women were especially careful to keep together on their camping trips when they were gathering the acorn crop, grass seeds, pine nuts, etc., for fear of these Indian devils. These Indian devils would sometimes watch the camps of the Indians very closely and follow them about as they moved from place to place, watching for an opportunity to seize one of the young women and carry her off to make her his wife. If a young woman strayed away too far by herself, she was often made a captive by one of these devils. The women of the tribe had a great fear of them as they had great horrors of becoming the wife of a wild man.

Sometimes the women would be captivated by the Indian devils and would be gone away from their tribe for years, when they would return and tell of their wildlife and experiences. They would become the mother of children and the children would inherit the wild habits of their father, as they would always be whistling, making strange noises, romping wildly about, and always on the go, roaming everywhere in the wilds. These women were never happy when they came back to their people, as after a time they would long to go back to their devil husbands and children. They always managed to get away and return to the old wildlife, as it held such a fascination for them when they once experienced the wilds that they could not resist the calling of such a life.”
