'HAIRY, BLACK BLOB' BIGFOOT Encountered by Duck Hunters in Louisiana

A father and son are duck hunting in Louisiana when they observe a 'hairy, black blob' that has red eyes. After the creature stood up they realized that it was a Bigfoot.

I received the following account:

"Anyone who doesn't think that the hairy hominid creatures exist is in for a huge shock if they spend some time in the wilderness!

I was duck hunting with my father here in Louisiana many years ago and I saw one watching us. My father was paddling around, putting out decoys, and I was in my blind and I saw what looked like a huge black hairy blob in the prairie grass! As my father set out the last decoy he turned his attention back towards his blind. I could see two red eyes peering from the black hairy blob. It then stood up looked at me and turned and walked back into the cypress trees and bushes! This thing was huge. It looked like the tallest linebacker I've ever seen huge shoulders no neck, a slim waist, with huge thighs!

The wind was blowing from behind me so we didn't smell it and it was gone fairly quickly! Back then no one talked about Sasquatch or Bigfoot or anything like that! I had no idea what I saw! After countless nightmares, my mother asked me why all of a sudden I was having nightmares! I told her what happened that morning! She told me about a conversation that she overheard between her parents where my grandfather had a run-in with one stealing animals out of his traps!

A couple years later after football practice, she took me to the drive-in theater and we saw the Legend of Boggy Creek! That was the first time I knew exactly what I saw that morning! I have had an addiction to having to read and research everything on the subject including doing some of my own research out in the woods! Anyway, peace out and stay safe brother!" W

EVIL 'MERMAIDS' Encountered in St. Vincent and the Grenadines Waters by Divers!

After a vehicle carrying children plunged into the waters of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, divers experienced compelling evidence of the presence of underwater humanoids!

I received the following account:

“The strange underwater and possibly evil mermaids are very much real! Having witnessed them once in my life I can definitely testify to their existence. But they're not the pretty women they're being portrayed as.

I'm living here in the Caribbean on the islands of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Back in 2015 the 12 of January, a vehicle carrying school children lost control going down a steep hill and plunging into the sea. 8 children were killed. 6 of which were recovered. When we the villagers got to the scene the young people's bodies were floating in the water. We put on our diving gears and jumped in to recover the bodies.

Two other men and I were trying to grab the body of one of the girls who was my cousin. When one of the men got close enough to make a grab there came this entity out of nowhere screaming angrily (yes, screaming) snarling and saying, "Don’t touch her or else you’ll see what would happen." This thing was pure evil. Its face was human. It had a Nigerian accent. Its body was colorful. We were terribly scared!

The creature immediately grabbed the girl's body and took off at an amazing speed then just disappeared. There were about 15 divers in the water. When we got to the shore we couldn't speak for over two hours. Scared beyond imagination. When we told the people what happened they said some of the other divers said they saw the same thing.

The elders in the community began telling us stories about the same creatures from long ago way before electricity came to our village. They said the young people were a sacrifice. From that day I never look at the ocean the same way again. I wish we had evidence to show what we saw. Waterproof phones and cameras weren't popular here back in 2015. To this day the other divers still talk about it. I've stopped diving since It happened. We've been called all kinds of names but I know what I saw. And what I heard the creature say.

Since then I've been researching "shapeshifters" and stuff like that on the internet and a lot of things about the top have been leading me to Africa. Also, I've taken an interest in Nigerian movies where they show a lot of stuff about said topic. I know the frustration about not having evidence to support our claims.

Up to this day, we haven't found those two girls' bodies. The coast guard searched for almost a month. We searched the rocky beaches for miles for weeks. About a year ago I and a couple of friends went night fishing. When we got to the beach in our area we heard a noise almost like someone or something wailing in the water just off the shore. It frightened us. For almost a minute or two. We just stood there, and couldn't move or say anything. Our water is rocky and shallow. When I got home I was scrolling through Facebook when I saw a video that a guy had posted somewhere on a fishing vessel experiencing the same sound. He was then visited by the CIA or something about the same video." K

NOTE: There have been many accounts of 'water sprite' sightings in the rivers of Nigeria. Worldwide reports of mermaids do closely mimic what the Nigerian witnesses have stated for many years. Lon

'The HOUSE Still HAUNTS ME In My Dreams!'

A reader wanted to share with me personal encounters with the paranormal, things that have haunted him since childhood, and things that still haunt me today. What are your thoughts?

I received the following account from a reader:

"Lon - I would like to share with you my personal encounters with the paranormal, things which have haunted me since childhood, and things which still haunt me today.

When I was a little kid my parents and I moved out of our apartment and into a new large house with my aunt and uncle. My aunt and uncle lived on the upper floor, while my parents and I lived on the ground floor.

The first paranormal memory that I had in that house was during one afternoon when I was around six years old. I was sitting in my room, on my bed, reading a book. I remember hearing a very distinct sneezing sound, which sounded like it was made by a little girl. Without giving it a second thought I quickly said "gesundheit", and got a courteous reply back of "thank you".

My head instantly perked up, realizing what just happened. I quickly got up from my sitting position, and darted out of my room to see if it was my mom. I ended up having to travel to the other side of the house to find her, where she was sitting in the living room watching TV.

Perhaps not the most paranormal incident in the world, and it's entirely possible that I had imagined someone sneezing and saying thank you, but the following was not imagined.

Several months after that event a second paranormal experience occurred. It was a Saturday afternoon, and I was sitting in the living room with my Dad, watching TV. The commercial breaks came on, and my father asked me if I could get him a beer. I once again had no second thought about this, and instantly got up to retrieve him a beer. However, as soon as I stood up I realized where exactly I would have to go. You see, my father kept his beer in a mini-fridge, at the bottom of the steps of the basement. The basement, had always scared me. Besides the fact that it was unfinished, always dark, and old, there was a "feeling" down there. It's almost indescribable. Like, as if something were extremely angry at you, and wanted to pull you in, and at the same time push you away.

At any rate, I couldn't turn back, I knew my Dad would be angry at me if I refused, and at the moment his wrath seemed more real. So I walked out of the living room, down the hallway, and towards the basement. I stood at the top of the steps, and for some reason, today seemed different. There was more fear as I approached the steps, the feeling that the basement carried was far more intense this time than it had ever been before. I grabbed the wooden railing, which looked as if it were already covered in blood, and slowly made my way down the steps. With each step that I took deeper into the basement, the more fear arose in me. The sensation grew stronger and stronger, to the point where I was nearly paralyzed with fear.

As I reached the bottom, I felt the urge to turn my head towards the left. There was a section in the wall there, which looked like the previous owner had cut out in order to add more space to the basement. With my head facing that direction I desperately wanted to scream at whatever was down there, but all I could get out was a weak "Hello?". At that very moment I saw two red eyes appear from that hole. Fight or flight instantly kicked in, and I flew. I ran up the steps, made the turn as my father caught me halfway down the hallway, asking what was wrong.

I told him what I saw, and he instantly ran down the stairs to investigate, saying to stay back, that it might be a wild animal. He came back up, saying he didn't find any thing.

Shortly after that, maybe a week or so passed, we had an outdoor BBQ at my house. It was the usual people, me, my parents, and my aunt and uncle. Every one was outside, and I had decided to go in to get myself a drink. I entered through the front door, as the back door lead directly to the basement which, at this point, I desperately wanted to avoid it at all costs.

As I was leaving the kitchen I decided that today I was going to be brave, that I was going to face my fears head on. I walked towards the back door, and sat at the top of the steps. As I sat down, I once again had that feeling wash over me, but I stood my ground, wanting to face whatever was inhabiting my basement. The longer I stayed, the more the fear grew, but what seemed like an instant, I saw it. It was a shadow of a person, the gender I couldn't make out, nor any distinct features. I saw the shadow instantly hit the wall to the right of the stairs, and begin to move closer to them. I once again panicked, running outside.

I told my dad that I saw something down in the basement again, but this time it looked like a person's shadow. He wasn't hesitant in running into the house, trying to find out whoever was in our house. Once more though, he would return saying he didn't find anything.

That's the end of the basement, or at least, what I can remember, but it isn't the end of my paranormal experiences.

The hardest incident to remember, and the one that brings out my emotions and tears, happened upstairs. I really struggle with remembering the upstairs, but I know something did happen, I just can't recall what. There was something definitely up there, and I could feel something happened, but it's not coming to me. There was a sensation, fear, pain. A door closed on me, she was there, it's how I got my burn mark. That's all that is coming to me, I really don't know.

When I was 10 we moved out of the house. I wish I could tell you that was the end of my experiences, but unfortunately it wasn't. They continue to haunt me today, but not in a physical manner. Instead, they return to me in the form of nightmares. The nightmares are always the same, and either take place in one of two areas of the house. The upstairs, or the basement.

If I find myself in a nightmare in the basement, it acts as a progression. With each nightmare, I go deeper into the basement. Each time I begin to go down the steps, and most recently I've been able to reach the bottom. I want to scream, and yell so desperately at it but I can't, nothing comes out. I've only seen what's down there once, and even than it was a vague glimpse. I remember darkness, frantic wild hair, it floating. I've always called her a witch, but I don't know if she is or not.

Finally, there is the upstairs. This one always plays out the same too, where I find myself in the upstairs kitchen. I walk towards the room where my aunt & uncle used to sleep. It was in the back of the house. Every time I enter that room, is notice a bed, but the rest of the room is empty. The bed is covered in that frilly Victorian-era stuff, and each time I move it away, to find a corpse of a woman laying in the bed. Sometimes she's in a coffin, sometimes she isn't. Her eyes are closed, but than open, and that's where it ends. Normally this nightmare comes first, followed by the one in the basement the next night.

Before I end this post, I want to add one more thing that I just remembered. My Mom told me a couple off-hand times, that when I was little and living in that house, she would often find me upstairs at night. From the time we first moved in (when I was 4) to when we moved out (when I was 10). She told me one night she decided to stay up to see what was happening. Apparently, I was sleep walking, but she never told me much more than that.

I know it's long, and I apologize for that. I'm writing all this mostly because I'd like your help, or perhaps your opinion on all of this. Have you ever heard of a haunting taking place in some one's nightmares after they have left the place? What do you think it could be?" T

NOTE: There are times when traumatic events manifest in our dreams. Since the experiencer had trouble recalling the details of an incident upstairs there is a good chance that he was actually 'sleepwalking' or conducting activity while in a state of sleep. I witnessed the phenomenon with my daughter when she was young. After she awoke, she was never able to recall any events that took place while she was 'sleepwalking.' Lon

PYROKINESIS: Can 'FIRESTARTERS' Create Ignition With Their Minds?

Pyrokinesis (pyrokinetics) was the name coined by horror novelist Stephen King for the ability to create or control fire with the mind that he gave to a character in Firestarter[image error]

The following cases of apparently paranormal firestarters involve some aspects common in people who exhibit psychic / poltergeist-like powers. Unfortunately, we don't have much detail about the girls involved, so the case must remain intriguing though unsupported by independent evidence. However, it would be interesting to know if before or at the time of the alleged fire-starting incidents, these two girls had made claims of mediumship, telepathy, or any other 'psychic' abilities.

In November 1890, in Thorah, near Toronto, Canada, strange things started happening around a 14-year-old English girl called Jennie Bramwell, the adopted daughter of a farmer, Mr. Dawson, and his wife. The girl had been ill and gone into a trance, crying out 'Look at that!' pointing to a ceiling that was ablaze. Shortly after, to the astonishment of Mr. and Mrs. Dawson, she pointed to another fire. The following day numerous fires broke out around the house; as soon as one was put out, another started. In one instance while Mrs. Dawson and the girl were seated facing a wall, the wallpaper suddenly caught fire, Jennie's dress then burst into flames and Mrs. Dawson burnt her hands extinguishing the fire. Fires continued to break out in the house for a whole week. A report in the Toronto Globe, for 9th November, described charred pieces of wallpaper, which looked as if they'd been burned using a blazing lamp.

The situation became unbearable, all the furniture was moved into the yard, and the unfortunate girl, blamed for the fires, was sent back to the orphanage from where she'd come. With her leaving, the phenomena stopped. The reporter from the Toronto Globe depicted her as 'a half-witted girl [who] had walked about the house with a match, setting light to everything she came across.' However, he had difficulty explaining how the fire on the ceiling, and those on the walls had been started. Charles Fort, describing the case, commented wryly - 'I'll not experiment, but I assume that I could flip matches all day at a wall, and not set wallpaper afire.'

The reporter wanted to know if Jennie had any knowledge of chemistry, as according to him the 'half-witted' little orphan was 'well-versed in rudiments of the science.' He subsequently made inquiries around town and discovered that the girl was also 'an incorrigible little thief', and that she had visited the chemist many times on errands.

So, the mystery was solved: the girl had stolen "some chemical," which she had spread over various parts of Dawson's house to start the fires.

In January 1895 there were fires in the house of an out-of-work carpenter, Adam Colwell in Brooklyn, New York. The fires were investigated by police and firemen who witnessed furniture burst into flames and subsequently reported that the cause of the fires was unexplained. However, the Fire Marshall suspected the pretty adopted daughter of the Colwells, Rhoda, of playing some part. He stated 'It might be thought that the child Rhoda started two of the fires, but she can not be considered guilty of the others, as she was being questioned when some of them began. I do not want to be quoted as a believer in the supernatural, but I have no explanation to offer, as to the cause of the fires, or of the throwing around of the furniture.'

Mr. Colwell asserted that on the afternoon of the 4th of January whilst in the company of his wife and stepdaughter Rhoda, a crash was heard - a large, empty stove had fallen over, and four pictures also fell off the walls. Shortly afterward a bed caught fire, and a policeman was called who saw wallpaper start to burn. Another fire started and a heavy lamp fell from a hook onto the floor. The house burned to the ground and the family, who had lost everything apart from their clothes, were taken to the police station. Captain Rhoades, of the Greenpoint Precinct said that he could attribute the strange fires to 'no other cause than a supernatural agency.'

However, a Mr. J.L. Hope of Flushing, Long Island, came to see Captain Rhoades and told him that Rhoda had worked for him as a housemaid and, between 19th November and 19th December, four mysterious fires had broken out. This was enough to convince the Captain of Rhoda's guilt in the present case as well, and she was warned to admit the truth. Frightened, she wept that she had indeed started the fires as she disliked the place she lived and wanted to get away. The girl had also knocked the pictures off the walls and dropped lighted matches into the beds, continuing with her mischief even after the police, firemen and detectives arrived at the house.

Though the police Captain had previously thought the fires 'supernatural' he now found a natural explanation in Rhoda's now well-attested fire-starting tendencies. The New York Herald ran the story as 'Policemen and firemen artfully tricked by a pretty, young girl.' So instead of investigating the fires in Flushing the Captain gave the girl some 'wholesome advice' to which she apparently listened, and closed the case.

Such fire starting seems intimately connected with poltergeist activity (the moving about of furniture for example) and young girls. Some, though not all, of the fire-starters, seem to be orphans in unhappy situations, and this may, in some cases, explain the motive. But since the methods by which these unusual fires were started are a mystery (explanations at the time obviously being ludicrous i.e. tossing lighted matches at the wall, ) we are still left with the puzzle that certain young people are possessed with the allegedly paranormal ability to unconsciously start fires without any visible means. As mentioned time and time again on Mysterious People, however, the sources for such 'paranormal' stories, especially those from the 19th century and earlier, are usually newspaper accounts, which unfortunately means that the events may or may not have happened as described. We can never be sure.

In the year 1882, in Paw Paw, Michigan, Dr L. C. Woodman heard rumors of a man with a remarkable ability. It was said a 24-year-old man, named A.W. Underwood, had to take great care whenever he breathed, apparently to avoid causing fires.

At first, the doctor thought the stories were mere exaggerations, but one day there was a knock on his door, and in walked A.W. Underwood himself, looking for help.

Dr. Woodman was persuaded to make tests in the presence of himself and some of his colleagues, and to their amazement Underwood performed incredible feats which they could not explain. In an article from Michigan Medical News, dated September 11, 1882, Doctor Woodman stated:

“He will take anybody’s handkerchief and hold it to his mouth rub it vigorously with his hands while breathing on it and immediately it bursts into flames and burns until consumed. He will strip and rinse out his mouth thoroughly, wash his hands, and submit to the most rigid examination to preclude the possibility of any humbug, and then by his breath blown upon any paper or cloth envelop it in flame. He will, while out gunning and without matches desirous of a fire lie down after collecting dry leaves and by breathing on them start the fire.. ”

Dr. Woodman stated publicly that he was sure that Underwood’s ability was authentic.

The doctor also noticed that Underwood would hold the cloth or other material against his mouth so that he could force his breath through it, thus condensing whatever strange process it was.

The doctors washed Underwood’s mouth out with various mixtures, and obliged him to wear surgeon’s rubber gloves - but it made no difference - the phenomenon carried on as normal.

A similar case was reported In 1927, when Vice President of the U.S., Charles Dawes, personally investigated the case of a car mechanic in Memphis, Tennessee, who supposedly had the mysterious ability to set inflammable material alight merely by breathing on it.

The man took General Dawes’ handkerchief, breathed on it, and it caught fire.

No reasonable explanation could be found, but Dawes and his colleagues decided it was a genuine ability and not a trick.

If genuine, these cases are unusual in that both Underwood and the anonymous car mechanic seemed to be able to control the phenomenon and produce it at will.

Paranormal researcher Charles Fort wrote of an incident that took place at Bridgewater, Scotland, in May 1878. Mysterious fires were being started with no apparent cause, loud raps were heard and household items such as dishes and loaves of bread moved about. After a police investigation a servant girl, Ann Kidner, aged 12, was arrested, and accused of tossing lighted matches, but was released by the magistrate because of insufficient evidence.

In October 1886, a 12-year-old boy named Willie Brough, of Turlock, Madison County, California, was accused of setting things on fire ‘by his glance,’ and was expelled from Turlock School after five unexplained fires had started in his presence. His parents thought him possessed by the devil and sent him away.

In 1982 Benedetto Supino, an Italian adolescent boy, discovered something quite strange about himself. He was sitting in a dentist's waiting room reading a comic book when all of a sudden the thing burst into flames right there in his hands.

At the time, no doubt, he claimed total innocence to deaf ears. Once a fiery pattern was established after a few more incidents, his surrounding adults may have been more likely to believe him - especially when they actually saw him accidentally ignite things without a match in sight.

As we already said, Benedetto Supino discovered his strange powers at a young age - around 10 - when a dentist's comic book flamed up in his hands. Although there were instances of the boy starting a flame with sufficient intention and concentration, it seems that usually neither was the case.

Paranormal.About.com gives an example of the latter happening:

"One morning [Supino] was awakened by a fire in his own bed – his pajamas were in flames and the boy suffered severe burns."

Doesn't sound like a terrific gift there, does it? The same article goes on to give other instances of flames starting by his intention, or merely by his presence:

"On another occasion, a small plastic object held in his uncle’s hands began to burn as Benedetto stared at it. Just about everywhere he went, furniture, paper, books, and other items would start to smolder or burn. Some witnesses even claimed to see his hands glow at these moments."

Everywhere he went - according to some sources, fuse boxes ignited, newspapers burst into flames and non-specific 'small objects' would smoke and burn. Obviously, the boy's parents worried. They sent him to physicians and scientists who apparently found no reason for the strangeness. He was also sent to an Archbishop with the same result - nothing. The burden taxed the boy - he can be quoted as saying:

"I don't want things to catch fire, but what can I do?"

It seems though, that with some help he was finally able to learn control. According to Prediction Magazine:

"When an entire army of doctors were unable to help him, he turned to parapsychologist Dr. Demetrio Croce, who taught him to control and hone his abilities."

Now we haven't found any specifics as to what exactly is meant by the word 'hone' in this case. We don't know whether Supin's just managed to turn it off completely, or just to burn things he wants to burn.

Then there is the case of Lily White, a West Indian woman from Liberta, Antigua. It was reported in the New York Times issue of August 25, 1929, that her clothes would burst into flames. Fire attacked her garments when she was at home and also in the streets, leaving her naked. Lily had become dependent on her neighbors for things to wear. Even as she slept, her sheets would burn up around her yet she was never harmed by the flames themselves.

In an interview in the March 14, 1976 issue of Sunday People, Parapsychologist Dr. Genady Sergeyev referred to the powerful telekinetic medium Nina Kulagina, quoted as: "She can draw energy somehow from all around her; electrical instruments can prove it. On several occasions, the force rushing into her body left four-inch-long burn marks on her arms and hands...I was with her once when her clothing caught fire from this energy flow. It literally flamed up. I helped put out the flames and saved some of the burned clothing as an exhibit."

The ability to control fire with the mind or mental resistance to handling flaming objects is scientifically inconclusive. One belief is that Pyrokinesis works by exciting the atoms of an object to heat it up and have it catch fire. Since all matter, on a nuclear psychics level, is simply different forms or levels of energy, this notion makes basic sense. People who display such ability are believed to visualize the particles of a flame to slow down or to speed up and move very fast, thus heating up or going out. Being that a Pyrokinetic individual can control heat, it is also considered the most unstable and dangerous of kinetic ability. These phenomena leave a great many questions about the power of the human mind, the laws of psychics and the power of faith.

BIGFOOT Sighting Reported in Northeast Frederick County, Maryland

The witness requested that her name and location be kept private. I have marked the general area on the map (northeast Frederick County, MD - between Westminster and Thurmont, MD).

"I was on the way to the grocery store one day in April 2010 and I saw something standing upright against or behind a tree. At least it looked that way. It happened when I was crossing a railroad track and that was against a hill that had a sharp bend at the top. So I didn’t stop, fearing someone would come and hit me from behind. At the time I tried to tell myself that maybe it was a tree. So when I came back from the store whatever I saw wasn’t there anymore and I just can’t explain it.

It wasn’t the same color as the tree. That’s what made me curious. It was a light reddish brown with beige. Almost like the hair was 2 toned or something. The hair looked like it was in jagged tuffs that looked like it would look darker underneath if you lifted the fur. At the same time looked like you’d like to touch it (maybe that’s because I’m a hairdresser). I can’t explain what it was since I did not see a face or did I see any arms and feet. But whatever it was, it was about 7 or 8 feet tall from the ground to where it stopped about 6-8 feet alongside that tree. I did notice the part that I saw was a little rounded at the top as if suggesting a shoulder. It wasn’t another tree since nothing else in the area (tree or bush) was that same color. I wish now that I had gotten someone and looked for tracks. It has rained 3 or 4 times now so I guess I wouldn’t be able to see anything. I may go look anyway. I don’t know if it could have been a Sasquatch or what it could have been, but whatever it was it was standing straight and tall and didn’t move.

I don’t know if the ole big guy (if that’s what he was) was passing by or he’s a local? There have been sightings to the south of us (Little Bennett Campground in Frederick Co.) and some north of us in Adams County, Pa., which is just around 12-15 miles from here. I’d like to see him in the daylight again if that’s what I saw. But it would scare me sh—less if I were to see him at night. I’m here by myself a lot at night and our dog wants to always go out. When she does, she acts like she is scared sometimes since she stays on the deck and looks. I sometimes wonder what she is looking at. I thought you’d like to know. There may be others that come across your website as I have tonight with a similar story to tell from this same area. If so then maybe we have a local.
Thanks for inviting me to tell my story. I just had the need to tell you cause now you have this story for reference in case someone else comes forward and tells you their story. I will definitely keep my eyes open and let you know if I notice anything else. I kind of got the feeling that these things (if that is what it was) are very adapted to blend into their surroundings. It actually looked like it would have been soft if I were able to touch it. People go out looking for Bigfoot all the time. They go places where they think they will see him, and all the time he’s probably almost in their backyard. I have read that he will find you and now I believe that." JP

BLUE 'SWIMMING HUMANOIDS' Encountered by Outdoorsmen Canoeing Near Shiant Isles, Outer Hebrides

A Scottish outdoorsman and former armed services member recalls encountering 'swimming humanoids' while canoeing near the Shiant Isles, Outer Hebrides. Were these mermaids or mermen?

I received the following account:

“Many years ago, myself and my brother spent several weeks canoeing and hiking through the Hebrides. We saw a collection of humanoid animals swimming around and resting on the coast of the Shiant Isles. Neither of us really told anyone as to who'd believe us?

Ultimately, we realized that there are experiences in life that can't be believed without seeing them firsthand. [They were] a dark colour all over - blue-ish. Longer than the average human and more like a shark; lean and almost rubbery to touch. The head and neck were less pounced and distinct, arms were shorter and webbed from the body to the arm. Had a full-on tail too, but narrow and more pointed.

Most people wouldn't believe me, yet I've spent many years since leaving the armed forces in search and rescue in Scotland. Mountaineering across Europe, civilian caving and survival courses all over the U.K. Qualified diver and have canoed around the islands of the west coast of Scotland.

Those creatures weren't the only anomalous situations; myself and several soldiers were 'stalked' across the Black Mountains in Wales for 3 days. How anyone managed to follow us without being discovered, still has me confused. We found tracks and could literally see them at night. They just vanished each night!

So I spoke to my brother about the incident on the Shiant Isles yesterday. He recalled being absolutely terrified at the time and even admitted to crying that night when we went to sleep due to feeling so completely helpless and just creeped out knowing there were unknown animals nearby. To this day, he's very wary of large bodies of natural water. Now my brother is 6'10" and weighed about 120 kg at the time and has played Rugby since we were children; he's big and powerful. (I actually felt really safe with him, yet very protective as I'm the eldest)

After this conversation yesterday, I was quite annoyed that he felt like this and I wasn't aware; I was oblivious to him and really should have stayed awake in case anything untoward happened. Hindsight is a fantastic burden at times. You know what came to mind; the 'Ningen' from Japanese mythology. White humanoids are said to inhabit the seas around Antarctica. Me and my brother are going back to Shiant and the Hebrides next summer. If we encounter anything, I'll absolutely update this post." H

Show Respect When Entering the Home of BIG BROTHER 'WINDIGO'

An elder from the Pikwakanagan native tribe in the Algonquin Park region of Canada details how the white man must follow certain protocols when entering the home of the Windigo.

The following account was forwarded to me:

"I take this of the utmost sincerity when I text all this to you. As a native elder, I live around Algonquin Park in Canada. Algonquin Park is Canada's largest native park. I have seen more than my share of Windigo-Bigfoot while trapping, hunting, and guiding deep into the woods as I sit in my blind ever so still for many days out in Algonquin Park.

My people, the Pikwakanagan native tribe, have lived among these bipedal hominids for as far as I can remember my grandfather and great-grandfather passed down what they have witnessed to my dad and what I have witnessed myself. When seeing a Windigo bipedal hominid, the white man must learn how to go about things. The utmost respect must be given and childlike faith without any prejudice. I mean my people leave gifts for them as a sign of good blessing. The best gifts to leave are filet fish, apples, native dream catchers, and native Inukshuk path crossings, and leave your most personal item for them in good faith. Whatever you do, do not under any circumstances disrespect the hominid, I repeat under any circumstance do not provoke or instigate.

My people have lived alongside Big Brother as far as I can recall. This matter must be treated with the utmost care and utmost dwelling not to disturb the atmosphere that belongs to them. The reason you cannot ever find skeletal evidence of hominids is because they live in a vortex and they can go in there or into a vortex when they need to escape. When white men see them it is not intentional. How I know about this vortex is because when in the smoke hut mediation it is shown to me how hominid big brother can go to and from this vortex. Until white men learn to have the utmost respect for Big Brother of mine they will continue to appear and disappear into the protective vortex.

White men have shown disrespect for this matter to the point that Big Brother knows if it was ever caught it would be subject to either being killed or put into a zoo. White men drastically underestimate the high intelligence of hominid Big Brother. White men must show humility and utmost respect of reverence. My people know how to befriend Big Brother and we coexist because of integrity intelligence and humility of respect. If you go into their home and don't leave them heartfelt gifts you are disrespecting hominid Big Brother and they sense the white man's ignorance toward them. You enter their home and show disrespect. Leave the gifts I mentioned above and respect their land.

Please remember when you enter their home if you show disrespect be prepared to be hit with rocks or chased or worse. A white man must learn to know the ways of the creator to respect the land which was given to us not to show disrespect. When we enter their home without acknowledgement of leaving them appropriate gifts white men show disdain for the domain. You cannot hunt the hunted - Windigo knows more about you than you will ever know of them meaning unless you enter their home with childlike innocence only then will white man begin to grasp the way Windigo Big Brother thinks." LIVING NEAR BIGFOOT in Ocala National Forest, Florida

I received the following email concerning activity at a residence. The witness had read an account and stated he and his wife wanted to detail some of the Bigfoot activity occurring around their home.

"Sir - After reading the Mingo County, West Virginia resident and other stories, we thought that you may want to read what we are putting up with at our home. We live in Marion County, Florida and are a retired couple. We are in a neighborhood very near Ocala National Forest.

When we moved here in 2014, we were told of strange sightings in the area - in particular Bigfoot. We had moved from NYC, so I figured it was just a bunch of hogwash - just like the alligators in the NYC sewers.

To make a long story short, here is a list of things going on here:

- Howling late at night. Intense guttural screams to be exact. Many times they come from different directions at one time.

- I know the Bigfoot are making the noise because we have encountered them. One broke my side garage door not long after we moved in. We weren't home at the time, but I have no doubt that's what did the damage. My wife saw a young one in her garden one evening. She turned the porch light on and it scampered into the brush. She described it as 4ft or so, with long dark hair all over its body.

- They like to leave things around the yard and patio. Usually it's other people's garbage - cans and bottles for the most part. I don't want to encourage this activity by leaving something for them, but I'm sure that they mean no harm.

- I have never seen another animal in our yard, which I believe is unusual because of where we live. We feel that the Bigfoot roam so near to our property that small animals avoid the area. This could be the wrong assumption, but the lack of raccoons, opossums, etc. is strange.

I'm not going to try and take photographs, because I believe that they know better and that it would anger them. A fellow on our block tried to set out a motion sensitive camera. Well the damage they endured from a Bigfoot (a busted camera, broken lawn furniture and uprooted plants) changed those plans.

I have seen people going into the forest at other locations - and it's obvious that they are searching for the Bigfoot, even though the wildlife is protected. My feeling is that they should leave these creatures alone, though I doubt they'll ever find one. They are very keen and aloof - almost magical in the way they go about their lives.

I didn't want to give out our exact location. We don't want the Bigfoot people trampling about the neighborhood." V

NOTE: It's an interesting account. They didn't leave a phone number, but they did return my email with a few more details I added to the original inquiry. I'm not sure whether they have learned to live with the Bigfoot or rather that they are gone. But I do think that they have gained a certain amount of respect for their neighbors in the forest. Lon

BIG CAT TALES: Legendary Beasts From the Appalachians to the Swamps

In her 2014 article in the Huffington Post, the late cryptid researcher, investigator, & author Linda Godfrey noted seven of the scariest monsters in America. Linda included the 'Wampus Cat' cryptid on the list, in which she noted:

"...resembles a huge, unholy hybrid of canine and feline characteristics. People have reported being stalked by these creatures in the canyons around Los Angeles and in some states in southeastern U.S. A supporting Native American legend of a woman cursed for spying on a men's council meeting hints at mythic origins of these creatures. The woman was doomed to roam in the shape of a human-like, great cat and, according to the legends, still haunts many southern forests."

The Wampus Cat legends are a matter of fact in Cherokee native tradition...I've heard these tales since I was a kid. Several years ago, I wrote a piece about big cat tales from the Appalachians to the southern swamps. The following is a portion of that early post:

Cryptid cat sightings are a worldwide phenomenon. For decades, there have been accounts of large black cats roaming the countryside of Great Britain. As well, mutilations of horses and livestock in Australia have prompted fear that undocumented large cats also dwell on the continent.

Over the past few years, there has been an increased number of large cat sightings recorded throughout the eastern United States. Most descriptions have been similar to those of cougars or panther-like creatures, large muscular felines with long tails. However, many of the reports proved to be that of a large feral cat or an oversized pet.

Before European settlers set foot in North America, the native Cherokee people of Tennessee, North Carolina, and Georgia spoke of the fearsome Wampus Cat (also called the Ewah) that roamed the land. This was said to be the result of a woman who had disguised herself in the skin of a mountain lion and spied on the men of the tribe as they sat around the campfire telling sacred stories on a hunting trip. When the woman was discovered, the tribe's medicine man punished her by transforming her into a half-woman, half-cat. Supposedly, this creature still lives.

In the early 19th century, the Wampus Cat was reported to roam the Southern bottomlands and was described as ". . . an impossibly hideous critter said to have the head of a man, the body of a wildcat only larger, and the soul of a demon." The Wampus Cat was known to lurk along murky river bottoms and feast upon hapless hunters, fishermen travelers, and anybody else who wandered too far away from civilization. Wampus Cat stories and sightings became less and less frequent after the War Between the States.

Old American South books and newspapers state that "Wampus" was a name used for an unknown monster cat as well as other mystery animals. The word catawampus (cattywampus), which means "Cater-Cornered; slantwise, or Evil; malicious" in the American Heritage Dictionary, seems to be a neutral piece of evidence.

In 2008, a reader from Knoxville responded to an inquiry I made concerning the Wampus Cat and other mysterious large cats:

“During the school year, my girlfriend lives in Strong Hall on the University of Tennessee campus. One night while we were at her place, I was talking about how I was walking back to my dorm (Greve Hall) with a friend of mine. I was beside him, but very slightly ahead. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw what appeared to be a man in a black cloak walk up to my friend and sort of lean into him, almost like he was going to put his hand on my friend's shoulder. Only when his hand fell on my friend's shoulder, he simply disappeared. I will admit that during this time I was a bit tired from studying for an exam, and my friend says he felt nothing, but that's neither here nor there.”

“After telling my girlfriend this story, she told me that during the first week of school she looked out her ground-floor window toward the corner of 16th and Cumberland, and saw what appeared to be a human-sized cat walking on its hind legs, with glowing eyes. I don't remember the details she gave me, as far as how long it was there or how long she saw it.”

“It should be noted that my girlfriend is from Minnesota and I have no reason to believe she would try to trick me by reading about the Wampus Cat and then trying to pretend she saw it. We're very close and I have no reason to believe she would lie to me.”

Granted, this could have been a dorm party-induced phantom, but I think the writer was serious. There are recent accounts of large cat sightings in the south that have an unusual twist.

A few years ago, an unknown predator mauled a pit bull and killed two puppies in Brunswick County, North Carolina and residents fear it's the same animal that killed three dogs in September 2007. The county's animal control agency investigated the animal's tracks, droppings, and other clues but couldn't determine what attacked the dogs. Locals call the unknown animal the 'Beast of Bolivia'. Some residents and experts said the predator may have been a wayward panther, cougar, or even a wolf because 3-inch paw tracks were found at the scene. There have been no reports of noise during the attacks which seems strange since this is a residential area. As well, the beast has never been seen.

In an earlier incident, a man was taking pictures of alligators in the North Santee River in South Carolina with a digital camera. Later when he returned home and looked at the images, he realized a black panther was watching him. He stated that he never witnessed or heard the animal for the entire time he was at the river.

For years there have been stories of Black Florida Panthers prowling in our wilderness, but there's never been any official record they exist.

in 2008, a rare Black Bobcat was captured and researchers at the Busch Wildlife Sanctuary say they now know what people were referring to when they said they saw the panther:

"For years, people here in Florida have talked about Black Florida Panthers. First of all, Florida Panthers are basically a Cougar. There has never ever been a Black Cougar or a Florida Panther ever found. No record of them, no pictures, no hides, no skins, nothing. but still we hear these stories of black cats that lurk in the wilds of Florida. Maybe we have kind of found that missing piece of the puzzle and we now know what everybody's been talking about when they say, 'I saw a Black Panther in the wild.' But really they saw a Black Bobcat."

The sanctuary has been working with the state to run DNA and blood tests. They want to make sure there's official documentation that the Black Bobcat exists... even if the Black Panther does not. The sanctuary later returned the Black Bobcat to the wild.

MORE ON THE LEGENDS

The mountains of Tennessee, from the hills of Kentucky and West Virginia, are dotted with country folks whose occupations range from farmers to coal miners. Many of these country folks have tales of the paranormal, ranging from coal miner ghosts to legends of the Indians.

Jinx Johnston is one of those country people who had a true encounter of a famous legend. The Legend of the Wampus Cat. Jinx was a robust man. He stood about 6 feet high and weighed around 200 pounds. He was the type of man who could not be scared very easily. The campfire would cast eerie shadows on the faces of his audience as he began to tell his story of the Wampus Cat. The following is his story:

"There was an old woman who lived by herself in the hills of West Virginia. Townfolk swore she was a witch. People would complain their cattle would be hexed and other farm animals would come up missing. They all blamed the old woman because she lived like a hermit. Supposedly, she would turn herself into a cat and hide until someone would open the door. She would dart into the house and wait for her victims to fall asleep. She would cast a deeper sleeping spell on the farmer and then she would slip out of the window to steal a farm animal. The witch was so good at what she was doing, she was never caught."

"One day, the townfolks decided they had grown tired of their livestock coming up missing or dead. They devised a plan to catch the witch in her own act. She snuck into an unsuspecting house and placed the whole family under her spell. She jumped out the window as she had always done and went straight for a cow or sheep. Uncle Jinx always changed the animal this woman was after. The old woman, still in her cat form, went to the barn. She began chanting spells to change herself back into human form. Before it was completed, several people jumped out and surprised her. The poor old woman never had the chance to complete the transformation. It left her half woman and half cat. A ghastly creature to the eye sight. The creature howled with fright and broke down the door. She ran off into the night, never to be seen again. Jinx Johnston said time is important for a witch if she was changing back from an animal to a human again. The spell she had cast upon herself could never be reversed or fixed. The witch was doomed to be the Wampus Cat for the rest of her life."

"On nights when the moon is high, and the wind is blowing hard, you can see this creature. It walks upright like a human but has the body of a large cat. It howls and supposedly still stalks the hills of West Virginia. This creature is said to stalk farm animals but prefers young children the best."

Jinx would always finish his story by telling his audience how he used to go raccoon hunting. He and his 'coon' dogs would be out looking for raccoons to tree. The moon would always be bright in the sky and the howls of the Wampus cat would ring in his ears. One night, the dogs were way ahead of him. He kept hollering for them to return but they never did. The robust man went on to tell how he tripped over something and his rifle went flying out of his hands. He smelled an awful smell. He said it smelled like a skunk and a wet dog. He looked up and saw this hideous creature. Saliva dripped from its fangs, yellow eyes that glowed in the dark, and a howl that nearly brought him out of his skin. Jinx looked for his rifle but it was lost in the dark. He got up and slowly backed away from the creature. He turned around and ran as fast as he could towards home. Jinx told how he could feel and smell its breath on his neck. He bolted inside his house and slammed the door. He reached for his Bible and began reading out loud. The Wampus Cat howled at his words. Finally, just as the sun peeked over the hill, the Wampus Cat left. He said this was the reason he stopped throwing raccoons at night. Jinx's fear of the Wampus Cat was greater than chasing a raccoon up a tree.

The second version of the Legend of the Wampus Cat begins this way. According to an old Indian legend, the Wampus Cat was created. It was said a young Indian woman did not trust her husband. It was customary for the men of the Indian tribe to hunt while the women did things around the encampments. The women were forbidden to hunt. One night, she placed the hide of a mountain cat on her body. She snuck out to spy on her husband to see what he did on his hunting trips. As the hunters gathered around their campfires, the woman watched them. She became fascinated with the stories and the magic that was presented to the men of the Indian tribe. The poor woman was caught and for her crime, she was transformed into what is known as the Wampus Cat. The woman was doomed to be forever half woman and half mountain cat. The ghost of the Wampus Cat is still said to walk the hills of Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. On full moons, you can see the Wampus Cat howling. Is she howling because of her grave mistake and wishes to be transformed back to her human body?

If there were no legends, the world would be much duller. Many people consider the Bigfoot or Sasquatch a myth. I’d say just as many people consider the hairy hominid a fact.
