The Continuing Disputes BETWEEN BIGFOOT REALITY THEORIES

Several years ago, an episode of 'Finding Bigfoot' was advertised as:

The team travels to Bobo’s backyard, Humboldt County, to investigate strange photos of a possible bigfoot among the Redwoods. Confident Bobo lives among the bigfoots, the team heads deep into the Redwoods using heavy metal vocals as bait.

Sigh. Again, I was disappointed. I can put up with some of the typical nonsense, in particular, Bobo's heavy metal vocalist friend screaming in the woods in an attempt to get a response from a Bigfoot. But once again, there was deliberate shunning of any sighting that suggests that Bigfoot may possibly be something other than a flesh and blood terrestrial being. BFRO's Matt Moneymaker specifically pointed out and discounted the 'wild' encounters described by certain witnesses at the town hall meeting.

Regardless of these efforts, a few traditional Bigfoot researchers are starting to accept the theory that the existence of these beings may be beyond our current perception. The continued lack of tangible evidence is fueling the argument that Bigfoot is more than a typical terrestrial entity.

Is it possible that ghostly creatures or cryptids may roam our planet? Could these be residual energies of previous living beasts, that manifest and present the effect of non-terrestrial or interdimensional beings. On the other hand, is there a chance that we are chasing corporeal entities that slip in and out of our plane of existence?

I remember the experiences of a well-known veteran Sasquatch investigator in the Sierra Nevada region who told me that he was watching one of these creatures walk away from him and then suddenly disappear. The terrain did not offer cover or camouflage and there was no direction that the creature could have taken without being seen. There were no caves or holes for the Sasquatch to duck into. It simply vanished.

A reader once stated in an email:

"...that it's understandable that a subject as odd as this one, with the supposition that there is an enormous hairy creature that lives in forests around the country without being clearly photographed, videotaped or fully understood, should attract a good deal of divisiveness and even infighting. When proponents of the 'flesh and blood' camp mix with those who favor a 'magical' explanation, it can sour both sides from the real objective, which is to prove conclusively this entity's existence.

The principle of the simplest explanation, usually being the correct one, stands up in terms of building theories, but it should not be used as an arbiter between two opposing theories...and so we are left with the two camps.

Because of the similarities between our current understanding of the UFO phenomenon and that of Sasquatch, the fleeting visual aspect (most reports lasting less than a few seconds) the high strangeness (UFO's and Bigfoot moving at extreme speed often with disregard to physics) and with lack of much physical evidence (some trace material like radioactive soil or some unusual hair), not to mention the seeming invulnerability of both phenoms to physical attack (no UFOs or BF downed by gunfire) the link between Bigfoot and UFO encounters must fall into a similar category.

Why, in these modern times, with so much technology, do we not have a full accounting of everything in our animal kingdom? Some will cite the case of the Coelacanth fish as evidence of an evolutionary throwback that, due to it's extreme habitat, was thought to be extinct until it was brought to fresh, modern speculation in a fishing net. To suggest that Bigfoot falls into this same explanation is to say that we have not really looked deeply enough into the woods. I refute this suggestion, as we have the ability to see nearly every square foot of the planet in high detail from space through satellite technology. We have a military/industrial complex that can ferret out any heat-producing organism of human size (or larger) with FLIR equipped cameras. Despite the large tracts of uninhabited land on the North American continent, humans have traipsed on so much of it that over the past fifty to one hundred years we have compiled perhaps several thousand decent eyewitness reports of weird footprints, strange sounds and sightings of the giant hairy extra-human entity."

There remain countless arguments and conjectures on both sides. I'm simply asking that more researchers of this phenomenon take the time to explore other theories.

Maybe one day we'll discover, beyond a doubt, where the truth lies about Bigfoot. There may be a grand connection between all the mysteries in our world, possibly involving other worlds or dimensions as well. Mankind may be the greatest mystery of all and the reason why Bigfoot, extraterrestrials, spirits, etc. seem to be as fascinated with us as we are with them. Lon

MASSIVE 'BIRD-LIKE' UAP Observed in San Marcos, California by Shocked Witness

An eyewitness contacted me about an unknown 'winged' UAP with enormous eyes and a massive wing span that reflected light. It also hovered without flapping its wings. Creature or craft?

“Hello, Mr. Strickler. I just watched the Unsolved Mysteries episode about the Chicago Mothman sightings. I decided to write about my personal incident.

The encounter occurred on July 6, 2005, at about 11:30 pm. I had a long day in San Diego, CA, then afterward going to the beach at Del Mar for some surf fishing. I arrived at my home in San Marcos at about 11:00 pm. After cleaning my fish and showering, I was very tired. I went out to my carport for a smoke and a look at the night sky. I looked north, thinking about a recent UFO sighting and wondering what it was all about. In the distance, at a couple hundred feet, I saw a faintly visible moving object that flitted from side to side. Whatever it was, it reflected light from the streetlights. Its side-to-side movement was so fast, I couldn't tell if it was one object or two. The object then zipped directly over my neighbor’s house across the street.

By this time, I was certain I'd never seen anything like it. It continued to move side to side, in a space of approximately 50 feet. It then stopped and I observed it more clearly.

It had big "eyes" and wing-like appendages that were probably 15-20 feet in span. It remained still and I could see wavering reflections from its "wings" which were not beating like a bird’s but showed shimmering reflections from the streetlights. I felt the hair on my head rise all the way down my back to my ankles! It appeared to be looking at me, as I smoked my cigarette. I felt threatened, and said out loud, "I see you!" Then it went from stationary to out of sight, right over my head in an instant. I came out from under my covered carport and turned to follow its movement. Immediately, it zipped into view directly above my head, obviously studying me! I could see really weird large and intensely dark "eyes". It seemed surprised by my looking right at it. It didn't like being seen. My apprehension rose even higher. It turned away and disappeared like a shot.

It had a birdlike shape but was thicker. My impression was of reflections of the streetlights on wing-like appendages, and big dark eyes!

It wasn't a bird, bat, or any familiar nocturnal creature. Its movements did not seem explicable in comparison to any creature that flies by beating its wings. The hills and mountains are so rugged and inaccessible near my home, that anything could remain hidden and make nighttime forays at will. I read about "Thunderbirds" but I'm not sure if this was one of these.” W

Was 'E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial' Based on the KELLY-HOPKINSVILLE ALIEN INCIDENT?

After reading an article titled 'E.T. Started Out As Dark Alien Attack Movie' I wanted to go back and look at the encounter to get an idea of how the original script may have read.

On the night of August 21, 1955, two Kentucky families claimed to have fought unknown beings. In a rural area of Kentucky, near Hopkinsville and Kelly, two families contend they battled extraterrestrial creatures. The event happened around the Sutton farmhouse, where the Suttons and the Taylors gathered for dinner. At some point during the evening, Billy Ray Taylor went outside to draw water from the well.

Taylor witnessed a huge, bright object land in the woods about a quarter of a mile from the house. He started towards the house with the water when he saw a strange creature approaching. Billy Ray dropped the bucket and ran into the house. Both he and Lucky Sutton picked up firearms and ran back outside. Taylor fired his .22 caliber rifle and Lucky fired his shotgun but neither weapon had any effect on the creature.

Sutton and Taylor described the aliens as three feet tall, with pointed ears, thin limbs, long arms, and claw-like hands. They said the creatures looked like gremlins, hence they became known as the Hopkinsville Goblins. The beings were either silvery in color or were wearing something metallic. The strangest aspect of this creature was its movements.

The alien's movements seemed to defy gravity as they floated above ground and walked with a swaying motion like they were walking through water.

The two men returned to the house. However, another creature appeared at the window...the two families realized they were up against something extraordinary. They ran from the house, got in their cars, and headed to Hopkinsville. There they sought help from police who followed them to the farmhouse and searched the area.

Although they found no evidence of the creatures, they did find that the farmhouse had been shot up by the humans during the battle. The police left shortly after, but the aliens returned and the battle resumed. The defenders' guns continued to have no effect. The Air Force investigated the event but could not find solid evidence.

At first, the public reaction was that the incident was a hoax. However, the Suttons and the Taylors never profited from the encounter and there were dozens of eyewitnesses to the event. In addition to the families at the farmhouse, there were law enforcement officers who saw strange lights in the sky.

In 1957, Air Force Major John E. Albert concluded that the case resulted from the witnesses observing a monkey painted with silver that had escaped from a circus. French UFO researcher Renaud Leclet opined that a pair of Great Horned Owls may have been misidentified as aliens. However, Dr. J. Allen Hynek believed the incident was real. UFO researcher Allan Hendry wrote, "...this case is distinguished by its duration and also by the number of witnesses involved." Jerome Clark writes that "...investigations by police, Air Force officers from nearby Fort Campbell, and civilian ufologists found no evidence of a hoax". Although they never formally investigated the case, Blue Book confessed to being stumped. So was Isabel Davis, one of the most skeptical of UFO investigators.

Many of famed film director Steven Spielberg's projects, like Night Skies, E.T., and Gremlins, were directly inspired by the Kelly-Hopkinsville events.

The Kelly-Hopkinsville Case: An Overview
August 21 - 22, 1955

The scene was a small farm outside of the Kentucky town of Kelly. Inside the farmhouse were eight adults and three children. The night was dark, clear, and hot. At about 7 PM, Billy Ray Taylor (a friend of the Suttons and owner of the farmhouse) came in from the well with the "wild story's that he had seen a really bright "flying saucer," with an exhaust all the colors of the rainbow, fly across the sky and drop into a forty-foot gully near the edge of their property. However, the Suttons did not take him seriously and laughed the story off as an embellishment of his seeing a "falling star."

Half an hour later the family dog began barking violently and eventually put its tail between its legs and hid under the house. The two men, Billy Ray Taylor and Lucky Sutton went to the back door to see what was bothering the dog and noticed a strange glow approaching the farmhouse from the fields. When the light came nearer, they resolved what caused it: a glowing three-and-a-half-foot tall creature with a round, oversized head. The eyes were large and glowed with a yellowish light; the arms were long, extended nearly to the ground, and ended in large hands with talons. The entire creature seemed made of silver metal. As the creature approached, its hands were raised over its head as if it were being held up.

Understandably startled, the two men reacted by grabbing their guns: a 20-gauge shotgun and a .22 rifle. Withdrawing slightly into the house, the men waited until the creature was within twenty feet of the back door and then fired; the entity flipped over backward and then scurried off into the darkness. After a few minutes, when it did not reappear, they returned to the living room only to see another (or the same) creature at a side window. They fired through the window screen at it, and again the creature flipped and disappeared. Sure that they had hit and disabled the creature, the two men went outside to find the body. As they started out the front door Billy Ray, who was in the lead, paused for a moment underneath an overhanging roof. Just as he was about to step into the yard, those in the hallway behind him saw one of the creatures on the roof reach down a taloned hand and touch his hair from above. The people indoors screamed and pulled him back inside. Lucky Sutton rushed out into the yard, turned, and fired point-blank at the creature, knocking it off the roof. There was another creature in the maple tree close by. Both Lucky and Billy Ray fired at this one and knocked it off the limb; it floated to the ground and then ran off quickly into the darkness. Immediately, another entity (or perhaps the one that had been knocked off the roof) came around the side of the house almost directly in front of the group. Lucky fired his shotgun at point-blank range and the result was the same: no effect. A sound was heard as the bullets struck, as if a metal bucket had been hit, but the creature scurried off unhurt.

Understandably concerned that their guns were apparently useless, the men returned to the house to join the frightened women and children.

The creatures generally moved peculiarly. The legs appeared to be inflexible and when they ran, movement was accomplished almost totally by "hip motions." Usually totally erect, when they ran off they bent over and moved with long arms almost touching the ground. The entities' ability to float was particularly evident when one was knocked off the kitchen roof and floated a distance of about forty feet to a fence, where it was knocked off again by a shot. While they did not appear to have an aura of luminescence, their "skin" glowed in the dark with the glow becoming brighter when they were shot at or shouted at.

Mrs. Lankford, the mother of the family, counseled an end to the hostilities. Even though they had been shot at several times, no aggressive action was ever proffered by the creatures. However, the children were becoming hysterical and the creatures kept returning to peer in the windows at intervals; by 11 PM the family's patience had worn thin and they all got into two automobiles and headed at top speed to the nearby Hopkinsville police department

After a half hour's travel time, the police arrived back at the farmhouse with the still-frightened family. The Hopkinsville police, the state police, and a staff photographer arrived to investigate the situation. A thorough search was made of the house, the yard, and the outbuildings. Nothing was found, and the tension ran high: When someone accidentally stepped on a cat's tail and it yowled, "You never saw so many pistols unholstered so fast in your life!" The searchers checked out the woods area but found nothing. One unusual item that was found was a luminous patch where one of the creatures had been knocked off and fallen to the ground. However, when nothing really extraordinary appeared, the searchers began to leave and by 2:15 AM., the Sutton family was alone.

The family had been reassured enough to go to bed and shut off the few lights. Mrs. Lankford was lying in bed watching the window when she noticed a weird glow; the glow was one of the creatures staring inward with its hands on the window screen. Calling quietly to the rest of the family, she remained perfectly calm. Lucky Sutton, however, grabbed his gun and again shot at the creature through the screen. No effect. The creatures continued to make their appearance throughout the rest of the night, never doing anything overtly hostile and only seeming to show curiosity. The last creature was seen at half an hour before sunrise, at about 5:15 AM

The next morning, investigators came back to search the farmlands during the daytime. Nothing was found even though some even climbed to the roof of the house to look for footprints. The press got hold of the story; besides the reporter who had accompanied the police out during the night, the local radio station and many reporters from other papers in Kentucky, Indiana, and Tennessee arrived at the Sutton house. As the news spread, the general public began to show up and cars were backed up for a considerable distance down the road from the Sutton farmhouse. Sightseers stopped their cars, walked through the property, in and out of the house, annoyed the family with requests for pictures, and, in general, created a carnival atmosphere the upshot of which was to generally ridicule the family for having seen "little green men from space."

However, on that same morning, Andrew Ledwith, an engineer with the local radio station, decided to stop into the station for a talk with the chief engineer (it was Ledwith's day off). He learned of the happenings at the Sutton farm the night before and because of his interest in UFOs and his previous experience as an artist, he decided to go out and interview the family. Fortunately, he did. The publicity became so obnoxious to the Sutton family that they later simply avoided telling the story and refused to cooperate (one notable exception was with Isabel Davis, who prepared the Kelly report for CUFOS). The drawings that Mr. Ledwith created on the afternoon following the sighting are illustrated above.

How can such a tale be accepted at face value? one asks. After all, the family itself was considered of "low social status" by the townspeople. Two of the men had worked for a carnival; it could be argued that they were familiar with the art of the trickster.

The most telling criticism of the incident, however, is that there is absolutely no physical evidence whatsoever that the incident actually occurred. Skeptics point out that no footprints were found (the ground was extremely hard), no marks were on the roof (although the creatures seemed nearly weightless and may not have left marks), there was no blood on then, the bullets did no apparent damage), et cetera. One could thus conclude that the family "faked" the entire incident.

However, investigators who interviewed the Suttons afterward painted a picture of them that is quite different from the sort of people who could fabricate an elaborate hoax: They were uneducated, simple farm folk with no apparent interest in exploiting the rather considerable publicity that they engendered.

Did "creatures" really visit the farmhouse in Kentucky on that night of August 21, 1955? Or did the many witnesses, mostly adults, excite themselves to the point of exaggerating some lesser stimulus? "What specific example of an entity case would you cite as fairly credible and why?"

"Well, naturally, I would elect the Roswell case, but the aspect of it from the military end. Edwin Easley, Patrick Saunders, et. al. because of their credibility. If we go beyond that I kind of like the Kelly-Hopkinsville report from 1955, but only because of the number of witnesses and the physical evidence involved. That is the number of holes that Kelly (sic) and friends shot in the house in their attempt to repel the alien creatures. The Air Force's excuse that they didn't investigate the case, though Air Force officers did go to interview the witnesses is fairly weak. It is an interesting case."

Dr. Gregory L. Little:

"In UFO Abductions Through The Ages", by Dr. Gregory L. Little, 1994:

"As my eyes fell on the demon drawings in Plancy's Dictionaire Infernal (1863), I was struck by their similarity to the famous 1955 Kelly-Hopkinsville UFO case. Imagine the demons as gray in color, and they would also fit the description of the ubiquitous grays in recent abductions."

"There are many in the UFO field (as well as various religious leaders) who believe that the creatures associated with UFOs are demons. The similarity of some demons to the grays of UFO reports is probably no coincidence."

Karal Ayn Barnett:

In "The Kelly-Hopkinsville Incident - An Historical Review", 1998:

"Based on my experience of the region, I would testify to the fact that no one in that area would consider making up anything remotely like what the Suttons and Taylor said they saw. The residents of southwestern Kentucky are people who even now are largely religious, and (I mean on disparagement) conformists. To make up a story like this, one would run the risk of being branded as insane or a congenital liar with a pox on their family to boot. The ridicule, the contempt, the ostracism, the media circus - no one would risk it. It just wouldn't happen. Unless it really happened."

"Not to put too fine a point on it, but small-town Southerners are cloistered away, and in a sense, protected from other cultures, not just alien ones. Southerners don't venture far from their homes, usually, and the constant interaction among the townsfolk tends to reinforce certain ideas. One idea that is profoundly reinforced is that there are no such things as aliens and anyone who says that they are either bedeviled, bewitched, or terminally bewildered. We need not wonder why the Suttons and Billy Ray Taylor moved from the area soon after the incident."

Martin S. Kottmeyer:

Excerpts from "Pencil-Neck Aliens" by Martin S. Kottmeyer.

"Aliens with long, thin necks are currently "in." Reports and drawings of these pencil-neck Greys seem to be everywhere. They've turned up on T-shirts, made for TV films - Intruders (1992) - and in dozens of magazines and books. The proliferation of this trait among contemporary aliens may be a telling indication that our taste in aliens is as subject to fadism as our taste in clothing styles.

One has to grant that pencil necks have more aesthetic logic than biological sense. The slenderness of these necks undeniably lends elegance to present-day aliens and enhances their overall anorexic appearance. Propping oversized craniums on top of such skinny supports, however, raises concerns this species is whiplash bait. What business has such aliens in vehicles which legend has it has a penchant for bone-bending right-angle turns and ultra-air-brake stops?

The pencil-neck is a strikingly recent innovation. Early studies of ufonauts Coral and Jim Lorenzens's Flying Saucer Occupants (1967), Charles Bowen's The Humanoids (1969), and James McCampbell's Ufology (1973) - say nothing about aliens with long thin necks. They certainly weren't common. I'm doubtful there was a single unambiguous instance of a pencil-neck alien before the Eighties. I've rummaged through the drawings of all the major cases - the Flatwoods monster, Kelly-Hopkinsville, Barny and Betty Hill, Herb Schirmer, Pascagoula, Charles Moody, Travis Walton - and they are nowhere to be seen. (...) They seem to arrive en masse in 1987 with no less than five drawings of pencil- necks in Budd Hopkins' Intruders and the very prominent example staring out from the cover the Whitley Strieber's Communion. These works were popular and influential to the degree that it is now part of the stereotype of the Grey as noted by David Jacobs in his abductee study, Secret Life."

August 22, 1955 article in the Kentucky New Era:

Kelly Farmhouse Scene Of Alleged Raid By Strange Crew Last Night; Reports Say Bullets Failed To Affect Visitors

All kinds of investigations were going on today in connection with the bizarre story of how a spaceship carrying 12 to 15 little men landed in the Kelly community early last night and battled occupants of a farmhouse.

Most officials of the probes were reportedly being staged by the Air Force.

More than a dozen state, county, and city officers from Christian and Hopkins counties went to the scene between 11 p.m. and midnight and remained until after 2 a.m. without seeing anything either to prove or disprove the story about the ship and its occupants.

The farmhouse is located on Old Madisonville Road about eight miles north of Hopkinsville. The property is occupied by Cecil (Lucky) Sutton, one of those who reported experiencing last night's phenomena.

There were some 10 or 12 persons at the house, including several children, but investigating officers were not able to determine exactly how many of those present actually claimed to have seen any of the little men from the spaceship. The only other person who officers quoted directly was identified as Billy Ray Taylor. One account said Taylor is a visitor from Pennsylvania, which recently had a similar report of a spaceship. Neither Sutton nor Taylor was at home when officers returned to the scene this morning.

The story broke around 11 o'clock last night when two cars, one bearing a Pennsylvania license drove up to Hopkinsville's police headquarters. Officers then at the station said the two autos contained at least five adults and several children. All appeared highly excited.

Spokesmen for the crowd told of how something resembling a spaceship or flying saucer had landed at the back of their house near Kelly and 12 or 15 men, who appeared to be about 4 feet tall, had got out of the ship and come up to the house and done battle with the occupants.

"We need help," one of the men said, "we've been fighting them for nearly four hours."

Four city police, Chief Russell Greenwell, T.C. Gross, Dorris Francis, and Gray Salter, drove to the scene to see about the "little men". By radio, contact was made with State Troopers R.N. Ferguson Jr. and G.W. Riley and Deputy Sheriff George Batts, all of whom joined the motorcade to Kelly in their own vehicles. Four MPs also went.

The radio discussions also brought two Hopkins County deputy sheriffs and at least three state troopers from the station at Madisonville.

First arrivers found the scene deserted. The two cars that had brought the report to Hopkinsville did not return to the Kelly farm until after officers had arrived and looked the situation over.

Officers reported they found no tracks of "little men," nor was there any mark indicating anything had landed at the described sport behind the house. There was a hole in the screen at the window through which occupants said a shot had been fired at one of the strange little men.

Both Chief Greenwell and Deputy Sheriff Batts said they got approximately this story from the still-terrified and excited Sutton and Taylor families:

About 7 p.m. one of the men went out of the house to get a bucket of water. He saw what looked like a flying saucer come over the trees and land in a field at a point about a city block behind the house. There was no explosion, only a semi-hissing sound, and the watcher returned to the house with the bucket of water.

A short time later somebody reported some little men with big heads and long arms were approaching the house. The men were described as having huge eyes and hands out of proportion to their small bodies. The visitors were wearing what looked to be metal plates.

The men got their guns, a shotgun for Sutton, and a .22 caliber target pistol for Taylor. By and by, one of the little men pressed his face against the window and the shotgun was fired through the window. The face disappeared.

The men decided to go outside and see if the visitor had been hit. Taylor was in front and when he emerged from the front door, a huge hand reached down from the low roof above the door and grabbed him by the hair. He pulled away and the two men went on out of the house.

One of the strange little men was in a nearby tree, another on top of the house. A blast from Sutton's shotgun knocked another one of the men down but he did not appear hurt. He disappeared in the darkness.

Taylor reportedly opened fire on another member of the invading party, also with little effect. The battle went on for some time. When the occupants of the house saw their chance, they jumped into their cars and drove to Hopkinsville for help.

Deputy Sheriff Batts said the men told him that in all they fired up about four boxes of .22 pistol shells. The officer quoted a neighbor saying he heard shooting at the Suttons but distinguished only about four shots and mistook them for fire-crackers. Most of the officers remained at the site for more than two hours. During that period, there were approximately 25 people at the scene.

The only excitement during the period the officers were there came when an MP happened to step on a cat's tail while walking in the darkness near the house. The cat let out a squawl and for a few seconds, there was much activity and scurrying around on the part of those present.

Two officers who returned to the Kelly area early this morning reported hearing that the "little men" had reappeared around the Sutton home about 3:30 a.m.

Other investigators who went to Kelly later during the morning said they were told Sutton and Taylor had gone to Evansville today.

Officers who visited the scene during last night's excitement were reluctant to express any opinion today regarding the reported invasion of Kelly. All officials appeared to agree that there was no drinking involved.

The only outspoken comment came from Frank Dudas, city police desk sergeant, who was not on duty last night and has not visited the scene so far. He said, "I think the whole story is entirely possible."

Sergeant Dudas was one of two city policemen who reported seeing three flying saucers early one-morning last summer. He said, "I know I saw them. If I saw them, the Kelly story certainly could be true."

NOTE: One of the most intriguing UFO / extraterrestrial encounters ever reported. In fact, it is mostly likely one of the first UFO cases I read, possibly in comic book form in the early 60s. Lon

LARGE, UNIDENTIFIED BIRD Attacks Rooster at Oklahoma Residence

A McLoud, Oklahoma witness contacted me about a large unidentified bird that had attacked her rooster. Was this a natural predator or something unknown? Your thoughts are welcomed.

I received the following account:

"Hi. I'm sending this to you as I'm not sure of what to make of it.

It was just after Thanksgiving, during the daytime, and we had just put up a fence for our 2 month old chicks. I let them outside and decided to close the door to the porch area where we were keeping them. We live in McLoud, Oklahoma.

I was washing dishes and looked out the window and saw wings flapping, BIG wings. I yell, 'Oh my God!' and ran outside to the porch and out to the fence. There was this enormous bird with white wings with it's talons wrapped around or almost around my rooster. I'm yelling get out of here! My husband comes out with a BB gun as we have dogs sometimes that come too close to the fence. I'm yelling that will do no good, get the gun (as we have a .22 caliber rifle). The bird dropped the rooster when it saw me.

The wing span on the bird was wider than my arms outstretched totally (over 55 inches easily). The wings were white inside, and as the bird flew off close to the ground as it was so large it couldn't take off like a normal smaller bird due to it's weight. It had gray and brown feathers on it's back, not much of a tail. At first I thought it must be a hawk, but now think it had to be an owl. Everything happened so fast, I didn't get a look at the head, which thinking back on it, if I had it probably would have scared me. I haven't seen it since and am thankful for that, but our chicks will not go outside without me now. They run inside at the simplest noise or shadow overhead. Can't blame them.

I'm wondering if anyone else has seen such a large bird. I was at least 5 feet from it when it was startled and flew off, so there is no mistaken for the size. My husband also saw it fly off and remarked how enormous it was." F

NOTE: Oklahoma has a varied selection of raptors, vultures, and owls. Some are fairly large predators. The Golden Eagle first comes to mind, as well as the Great Horned Owl. Black Vultures, as well as Turkey Vultures, are also known to inhabit Oklahoma. There have been thunderbird & pterosaur reports from Oklahoma, but the witness made no reference to that type of cryptid. What do you think? Lon

Was MOTHMAN or OTHER WINGED HUMANOID Witnessed in La Serena, Chile?

A strange incident took place in La Serena, Chile in the summer of 1987. Everything points to this incident having been silenced by the witnesses despite the strangeness of the observation.

Carlos Manuel Arancibia Esquivel was the witness who told the story to friends and relatives on many occasions. The experience haunted him to the end of his days.

It all began when Carlos Manuel went to pick up his mother at her place of work. It was during the summer months and the time was around 23:00 hours. As he went by Plaza Buenos Aires, always busy, he noticed that several drivers and passengers of the Linea de Transportes Colectivos No.14 (La Serena-Las Compañías) were looking at a tall street lamp. To his amazement, he noticed they were staring at a large bird with massive wings and oddly humanoid features. The strange winged being was resting on a power line, and at a given moment, it issued a loud squawk that spread panic among the witnesses, causing many of them to hurriedly abandon the area.

The witness tried to assimilate this event by avoiding any discussion of it over the years. The investigator's search led him to find some old bus drivers who were present the night the event occurred. When questioned, they did not deny that it had indeed occurred but flatly refused to provide background information or details when asked for more information.

This isn’t the first time that an item of this sort came from the La Serena region. A family was returning home along a dirt road at midnight. Suddenly, they saw a black shadow descending from the sky some two hundred meters ahead of them. The shadow landed gently on the dirt road the family was traversing. At first, they thought it was a plastic trash bag carried by the prevailing winds at the time. We can imagine their surprise when the shadow flew off as they approached, to the sound of loud beating wings. The family members managed to see a sort of giant bird with humanoid features in silent flight. The width of its wings was described as “immense”.

There is currently a search for other witnesses to this winged humanoid. Lon

BIGFOOT ATTACKS VOLUNTEER in Erie National Wildlife Preserve, Crawford County, PA

The witness was traveling throughout the United States when they stopped in the Erie National Wildlife Preserve to do volunteer work. That is where the unexpected encounter occurred.

The following account was forwarded to me:

“I travel around the country. It's just me and my dog. We were in Guys Mills, Pennsylvania (Crawford County) and we were at this wildlife preserve (Erie National Wildlife Preserve), I was doing volunteer work there. So I was there for about two weeks and nothing out of the ordinary happened. I and my dog were going for a walk and I saw these, they were tracks and they were going in... it had rained really hard earlier that day and they were going down a stone road I was walking down so there wasn't anything I could cast but I took pictures of them but they were 18-inch footprints and they had a 72-inch stride length.

I got excited, I was like, Wow, that's pretty cool. I didn't think anything more about it. I mean this was miles away. I mean we hiked miles so it was way from my camper and I'm camped in the middle of absolutely nowhere. I mean there's the building where they kept all the equipment and then there was another like little building but other than that, I'm in the middle of a national wildlife preservation so there's nothing around. And they had a little spot for me to camp, for volunteers to camp and we were the only ones allowed there. So it was just me and my dog. And so I scouted the area really well because when I wasn't volunteering, I mean there was no self-service, you couldn't get, you know, you couldn't get nothing for my mobile hotspot. I couldn't get a TV channel so it was just me and nature and I actually liked it that way.

It was one night, this was in May so it was warm enough for me to have my windows open and it was probably 10 o'clock at night and I was sitting here reading and when I was reading I started hearing people talking but I couldn't understand exactly what they were saying. And that caught my interest because I'm in the middle of nowhere and hearing people, you know, in the middle of nowhere is more frightening than anything. So I stopped what I was doing and I listened and I could hear them talk and it sounded like a TV being on in another room with the door closed where all you could kind of hear was the bass sounds. You know what I'm talking about? So I went outside and I looked around and I didn't see anything. I came back in and I could hear the talking again and I thought, Wow, now this is strange and then the footprints came to my head and I thought, Ah, I doubt it but okay. I walked back outside again and I heard the voices kind of moving away and I heard this bass sound and, still to this day, I have no idea what this bass sound was but it almost sounded like speakers in the back of a car. And I don't know what that was. I know that I was in Amish country in the middle of nowhere so I really doubt somebody had a stereo in the back of their car going down one of these little dirt roads but maybe.

So, it was the next night. My dog started going nuts and he tried getting up underneath where I sleep so I laid there I was on one arm and I was still lying down and I bent over to find out what the dog wanted and the next thing I know, I'm laying on the ground. And you know how when you first wake up, you're not really sure what's going on? So I started getting up and when I got up, I got pushed into the wall. And got back down and when I looked up, I could see that everything I had hanging was swaying and it hit me that the RV was rocking. And I was terrified. I was absolutely terrified. The next day, I went outside and I found that all over my RV these 11-and-a-half-inch hand-prints. I have pictures of it. (Schrader asks him to send the pictures over and the caller agrees) So I was terrified and you should have seen the way the RV was shaking. I have a big 20-foot RV and if you could have seen the way it was shaking. I mean it was frightening. So I'm actually outside and this is a bird wildlife place (The segment ends and picks back up after a break. The caller picks up his story where he left off.)

So I'm outside all day, I have nothing to do. I could hear these birds. The people who worked there got so sick of me asking, Hey, what bird makes this sound that they gave me a book and told me to just try to mimic this bird sound. Get him close and then I can identify him. So I'm outside and there's this one bird that went (makes bird sound) So I'm outside and I'm trying to whistle so I can get this bird close so I can look in this book to see what kind of bird it was. So later that night, I'm laying in bed and I have my windows open and right in the window in the middle of the night, while it was raining, and I had this on video – something goes in the window (makes loud whistling noise) and I was terrified. I jump up, I grab my camera and I start recording and I keep hearing the... I mean, you can hear that there's more than one and they are moving around and they were whistling. I can't tell you how scared I was. And there's no way I could even drive off if I wanted to because I'm hooked up to the water and I'm hooked up to the electric line and my stairs are down. I couldn't drive off. I can't call anyone, I have no phone reception, I have no internet, I have nothing. And I'm sitting here like, Holy crap, what's going on? Then I start getting rocks thrown at the RV and I have all that on video too. And my RV is just getting pegged with rocks. So I'm sitting there and I wanted to catch it on video so I'm standing at the door of my RV and I'm trying to talk myself into going outside and it was probably the hardest thing I've ever had to do. So I talked myself into going outside and I did catch a thermal of something. I don't know what it is. I can't say exactly what it was because I couldn't see it with my eyes, I could only see the heat signature but it was huge! I had that recorded too and you could tell I was terrified. I was shaking, the camera was shaking, I was breathing heavily, and the next thing I knew, I started hearing something coming from behind me and I ran back inside.

I was up all night almost every night. I couldn't sleep. I volunteered for about 8 hours during the day. I was coming back. I was so scared at night, I couldn't sleep. I mean I've gotten better with it but this was the first time anything like this has ever happened to me. So the culmination of it all was, I was inside and this is when I left. I wasn't even supposed to leave yet but I just couldn't do it anymore. And I have this on video and I think I've only shown it to two other people because I was so scared, I was praying, I was dry heaving but I woke up to something trying to open my camper door. So the first thing I do is, I grab my camera and I stand here and I can hear the door just rattling like someone's trying to open it. Now I don't know why it didn't open because the way I saw it push this camper, there's no way that thing couldn't just rip my door off. I don't know if it was just trying to scare me. The next day, and I have it on video where I just walk over and it's just violently shaking my door. After that, I was done, I didn't want to play with it anymore. I took my ball and went home.

The area where I was in, I was kind of on this hill, I think they were camping down...or living, whatever they do, down in this little valley because I was down there with my dog a bunch of times and I didn't see anything. And then I went down this one day and something pushed a tree over. I mean, I got that on video too. Then I started finding all these trees shoved into the ground and I got that on video, where they were taking these trees and breaking them off. The fibers are twisted. Something grabbed that tree which was only about 6 inches around and twisted it in half.” D

RUSSIA'S 'BERMUDA TRIANGLE': Expedition in Kishertsky District, Ural Mountains

The following narrative is from a longtime reader and contributor Gillian Ann Abbas. She gives us a description of her August 2010 expedition to the 'Russian Bermuda Triangle' set in the very rural Ural mountain area of Kishertsky District of Perm Krai, Russia, located on the bank of the Sylva River:

Without troubling the reader with an account of my journey from Bahrain to Russia, as all travels by air present pretty much the same features that have been so frequently and so well described by others, I will just give a simple account of my actual holiday and amazing experiences in a country where still, very little is known by the West.

Russia lies at the back, an undiscovered country, with fresh and original people.

Far from the concrete cities, in small villages in forest clearings and half-forgotten river valleys, where Western clothes and culture never really seem to penetrate, lives a lost family of our brothers and sisters. It was amongst them that I went to stay for two weeks, to experience and understand a small part of the true Russian life, in a remote area where Western Europeans rarely venture.

Sadly, there still exists a great ignorance of Russia, and, as always is the result of great misunderstanding, making the popular notions about this country not only imperfect but absurd. These ideas partly derive from distorted legends of past wars, partly from sympathy with nationalities or causes that the Russian Government has treated badly, and very largely from fiction. The last is the fiction of many writers/reporters who remain wholly ignorant of the country, so we’ve ended up with the Russian spy, and the Russian conspirator, who are popularly conceived as figures of melodrama or comic opera, but not of actual life! To these novel writers, Russia has been the happy hunting ground, where they’ve been able to lay on the colors as they choose and make up fantastic scenes worthy of Arabian Nights.

It’s actually an impossible task to give anyone an idea of the immensity of this great country which rolls away eastwards from Germany for nearly two thousand miles before the Rural Mountains rear their jagged peaks between Europe and Asia, but this was our destination. The country is a plains country, a bit like the American prairies in some parts, but different in being for great stretches covered with forests of birch, the Russian national tree, pines or oak and appearing wonderfully green and fresh in those parts.

After a two-hour car ride from the city airport, along the one and only dirt road full of holes and ruts which lent a lot of excitement to our journey, we finally arrived at our destination, this New World that had aroused so much expectation in me and perhaps not a little fear of the unexpected as well.

But now I was really there in Molebka, a fact of which I had to constantly reassure myself, so unreal and impossible did it seem. Here at last was a place that did not disappoint one's expectations, but even far surpassed one’s wildest dreams.

Situated on the left bank of the River Sylva, a foreground of meadow land and small log cabins with forest masses on either side, this sparsely populated village of maybe a few hundred people at most, bordering the Perm territory and Sverdlovsk Region is truly remarkable for the salubrity of its pristine environment, beguiling forests, mountain and river views. Strange and old in every feature, old log cabins, new people and customs, and above all, a richness of coloring that quite defies description, which was the most impressive feature of the scene.

The village and the anomalous zone, occupy about 44 square miles and have often been called the favorite UFO village, famous for abnormal events, and myths, and the fabulous kingdom of Shambala, a place of happiness, tranquility, and peace. The area still attracts many tourists, especially at the time of the annual festivals, for instance, the festival called “Energy of Life – Atmosphere of Love”, beckoning many Russians, UFO researchers, psychotherapists, and astrologists.

I hardly need to emphasize that after the above narrative, the wonderful hospitality that we received on every hand in that village, not least from our host Valery, who accommodated us throughout our stay in a quaint traditional log cabin that stood at the top of a hill. We had a wonderful view of the surrounding area and countryside. It was almost humiliating to see the way we were greeted on every side and everyone showed the liveliest interest in making us comfortable and at home. It was fantastic and a good start to our trip.

Over the next two weeks, daily we’d wake up to a glorious morning of sun and clear blue skies, which was inspiriting and inspiring. We’d tumble out and troop off down to the river Sylva where we could take a dip or simply sit back and inhale the amazing magnificent panorama that surrounded us, range after range of level-topped, interminable forest and tree-clad hills with here and there peaks rising. During those hot days lasting the entire holiday, many times we’d venture off down the steep dirt track deep in dust, down to the sun-baked hills that bordered the river, to search for stones and fossils.

Several hours were whiled away before we ever thought of returning to the cabin and were not sorry to find in the village shop a good "deposit" of beer and soda drinks. The total effect was wonderful, fairy-like, a dream of the East, and I was not sorry to sit there till late afternoon, watching the river shadows slowly creep upon the hills and forest.

One of the many incredible sights that kept me in total wonder was witnessing the awe-inspiring night sky that never seemed to disappoint us, no matter where we ventured, including our regular night trips to different locations in the forest and across the river. Above us, appeared a domed-shaped sky that reminded me of the Milky Way, upon which thousands of silent, glistening stars were throwing their mysterious light down upon the forest and village.

I lost count of the shooting stars, as there were so many each night, and then the other mysterious ‘stars’ that moved, stopped, and moved again, with other ‘stars’ following behind. In my mind’s eye, I tried to rationalize this phenomenon and asked Valery if these moving stars were maybe a Sputnik or other type of satellite, to which the reply was that it would not be feasible for two or three Sputniks or satellites to be traveling in such close proximity to each other. I then thought of all the numberless spots in Russia and elsewhere in the world like this where one could have a bird’s eye view of such amazing phenomena! I felt so privileged and fortunate to be there and in that spot.

My best days were spent setting off from the log cabin in the late evening and walking to the forest in darkness and the pitch black of night, followed by a faithful dog called Jake who looked like a cross between a Siberian Husky and a wolf. His owners had died so he was a free spirit to come and go as he pleased from cabin to cabin in the village.

Before leaving we were soberly advised by Valery to try to conquer our fear and avoid using our torch/flashlight that I had tucked away inside my jacket pocket; a perfectly sensible thing to do considering we could barely make out anything three meters ahead of us. Initially, we were petrified, stumbling along those long, narrow country lanes, hands held outright as if we were blind automatons. This was something I never ever envisaged, trudging along in the middle of nowhere in the darkness for an hour or so, ostracized from civilization, occasionally tripping in the ruts and uneven surfaces, spending actual time alone in that deafening silence and solitude.

Eventually, our eyes and balance soon became accustomed to the new surroundings and we were soon introduced to many places where we could sit and contemplate. In the darkness of the night, we would soon start to experience something unique and wonderful; the inner knowing that somehow we were protected and looked after, a great exercise to calm the nerves and connect more deeply with one’s own inner resources. Soon the silence was welcomed and I actually began to feel something new; a heightened sense of unity with everything.

So many times, sitting in those magical parts of the forest, we would witness strange balls of orb-like balls of lights appearing and disappearing in those forests, and in the clearings, it became even more apparent that we were the ones being watched. It seemed almost like a game of hide and seek with us being the seekers and them the watchers.

‘Don’t be scared and have no fear’ were the words I clearly heard in my dream the second night in the village, so it reminded me that I should not be unduly nervous about anything including the odd bear that might spring out, however, I had been told that there were none in that area! I actually believed it too!

On one of our many trips, we were taken across the river by the Argo(An amphibious off-road All Terrain Vehicle), to visit an area known to some as Shambala, or a place of happiness. It was plain to see why some considered it to be so spectacular; the incredible view surrounding both sides of the river, mountains, and forest was stunning and I felt as if I’d been transported to another time zone. Our host Valery explained that he believed this place to be a gateway or portal into another dimension. We climbed up a tree-clad cliff to get a better view across the river of this eerie place, and I could sense that many had been there like us, to get a glimpse of this very special place.

One of the most spectacular evenings was spent traveling by car to an unknown destination deep in the forest. On the journey, I was told that attention should be paid to animal sounds in the night and odd animal appearances as apparently, these are good omens for extraterrestrials to communicate with us in many ways, including the sending of animal messengers. They too can help us to perceive nature as part of our greater reality and the animal kingdom provides another dynamic communication network to tap into.

Keeping an open mind and heart on this, I was completely taken aback when, on the dusty, dirt track we were suddenly confronted by a huge owl and I mean huge! It just sat there and took little notice of us as we gawped in amazement at this beautiful bird, till eventually it flew off into the dense undergrowth. A few moments later, the figure of a fox ran across our path and again, into the undergrowth where it simply vanished.

Last but not least, a hare skipped and hopped its way in front of our car without a care in the world. That for us was the icing on the cake!

Eventually, we reached our destination wherever that was, in the middle of nowhere, pitch black and deadly silent. That night the sky was crystal clear, the air chilled and crisp with zillions of stars twinkling above us; the perfect conditions for UFO hunting. Well, I honestly did not know what to expect but never in my wildest dreams did I believe that I would see the mysterious, incredible sight that greeted us. There beyond a patch of shadowy field, one could just make out above the tree line of the beginning of the forest, a stream of lights hovering and pulsating in some sort of organized linear display!

I had to rub my eyes to take it all in. It really did appear to look like some flying saucer. I was told that this object does not always appear in this location and many times other enthusiasts have attempted to film or photograph it with dismal results. GPS apparently will fail to identify the true location as it simply gives no reading when one tries to approach the object. Strangely, if one attempts to find the place in daylight, all that can be found is an empty field about three to four kilometers from the place we were standing.

Dare I say, my video cam did capture some very good footage and to cap it all, some extremely interesting sounds which we heard only on playback and not at the actual time of filming. At the time of filming, we heard absolutely nothing, it was deadly silent the entire time. I was told that ‘they’ knew we were there and were putting on a bit of show or display for us! Our distance from this object was apparently three to four kilometers and I was assured that there was absolutely no military presence in the area.

My only thought at the time of seeing this craft was that I really didn’t want a night pass for actual contact with any of these entities/aliens/beings as I simply wasn’t expecting that sort of reality, I was not dressed for the part (just joking).

After a fair amount of video footage, we left the UFO in peace and quiet and headed home to reflect on what we had seen, knowing full well that no one would actually believe me when I recounted this story and even with actual footage, would still not convince a soul!

The following night we revisited that area to see this strange object and again managed to capture some more amazing footage, however, till now, I’ve not posted the video online as my host Valery has insisted it remain private for the time being so I’ve honored his wishes and kept it at that. I believe that he has his own reasons for the protection of this incredible anomaly.

There were so many occasions when we stopped in wonder at the strange sights and sounds that we experienced on this expedition, too many to recount here.

What I have discovered too is that all of us have the ability whether we like it or not to step outside of our beliefs and consider information that does not fit into our previously accepted view of reality. When you reach that point in your life then expect some extraordinary things to happen.

Whatever one is seeking, to see flying saucers, experience renewed energy, and good health, to test out your courage and fears, then this is the place to come and stay.

Also, it’s always very lucky to follow one’s fancy, not that one will definitely have great adventures, but because you will be led into strange scenes, into those hidden parts that lie just beyond the obvious and utilitarian. You may not get all the answers to your questions but at least you’ve tried your best to find out.

As for some of the other Russians that I met on my travels, many appeared to be as strong as giants, quite religious, and others mystically superstitious because of the many unexplained phenomena that surrounded them.

I will say though that my impressions of the first real sight of Russia and the village are deep and lasting in my memory and am convinced that every open-hearted, nature-loving person who visits this wonderful place, will also never forget it. The urge to return to this place will last a lifetime. I for one will definitely go back.

(VIDEO/AUDIO) UNKNOWN VOCALIZATIONS Recorded in Michigan Woods

I recently found this video on YouTube. The vocalizations are very unusual. It sounds canine-like, but I'm just not sure what to make of it.

From what I gathered this occurred somewhere in Michigan, but there isn't much information to go on.

TALKING TO THE DEAD: Old Man Manifests in Forest, Holds a Conversation, Then Vanishes!

In an old interview that he conducted with the now defunct exploitation film rag, Cinema Blue, writer, director/producer, Bud Lee (famous for being the husband of actress Hyapatia Lee and, later, Asia Carrera) described a strange encounter he had while living in Indiana back in the late 1970s.

“About seven years ago (around 1977), Bud and Hyapatia were living in a rural part of Indiana. Their house was far from any town and surrounded by acres of forest. One early morning at about 4:00 AM, Bud and his brother-in-law went for a walk in the woods, hoping to see the animals in their natural habitat before daylight scared them off. They heard what they thought was a deer, but when they turned around, an old man was sitting on a log in the nearby clearing.

"My flesh crawled at the very sight of the guy," Bud recalled, "He looked dead I couldn't for the life of me figure out how this old guy got all the way through that forest, especially at that hour of the night. My brother-in-law was just as shaken up, but we got it together and decided to talk to the guy. According to Bud, the man was about 5 feet 4 inches tall and wore overalls. "He looked like he might work for the railroad." he said, "His skin was ashen. I never touched him, but he had a substantial form, of that I'm sure."

Their conversation with the mystery man was somewhat limited. He wasn’t disposed toward revealing anything about himself other than, "I used to live here a long time ago." The old man commented that he just come back to get a look at his home.

After an hour or so, the man rose, commenting that it was time for him to be getting back. Without another word, he rose from the log and walked off into the forest disappearing into thin air as he walked between the first two tall fir trees. He was only fifty feet in front of them when he disappeared, making any "mistake" about his dematerialization most unlikely.

When Bud and his brother-in-law realized they had been speaking to someone from the other plane, they remembered the small family cemetery on their property. He had been told when they moved in that many of the former owners were buried in that graveyard. Unfortunately, Bud failed to get the name of the spirit he chatted with but if our guess is right, his name can be found on those tombstones!”
