Creepy Humanoid Beings Reported Lurking Local Effingham, Illinois Cemetery

A group of friends, and eventually other witnesses, have described ghoulish humanoids in and around a cemetery in Effingham, Illinois
The following account was recently forwarded to me:

"In 2010 two friends and I were driving around out in the country around in Effingham, Illinois. We live about 30 minutes away from there. This was a typical weekend night, driving out to a cemetery to respectfully explore. We were told the Kazbar (Ramsey) Cemetery, deep in the woods surrounded by caves outside of Effingham, was a really good place.

We head to Effingham and stop for sodas at a gas station and then head to the country. It's about 1 to 2 am, so it's dark. I see something with yellow glowing eyes off the side of the country road just past the ditch in the headlights. Too short to be a deer, but too big to be a possum or raccoon. As we get closer it gets clearer, and I realize what I'm looking at is skinny, hairless and grey, human-like but definitely not human. Crazy as hell looking 'thing.' It was crouched down. Its arms were incredibly long and looked like it could have been 7 ft tall or bigger standing. I can feel myself get cold and my heart race and my hair stand on that back of my neck. I kind of whisper to myself "WTF?" And then I heard my friend in the back seat shout "WTF is that?!" Complete shock and terror set in and I can't make a sound. I'm just staring at it. By that time we are right in front of it, passing it and it just watches us drive by. It slinks into the dark. Then we all just start screaming. Literally freaking the hell out. I was convinced it was a demon for months, but still doubted myself even seeing it. Thinking my mind was playing tricks on me. We didn't even make it to the Kazbar that night. We went straight home. I couldn't sleep that night.

Six months later I'm at a different friend's house and she gets a text from her cousin. It was the trail camera picture. I went cold again, the hair on the back of my neck stood tall again. I was seeing this thing AGAIN! I knew we weren't crazy, that there was something to this. He said he caught it on his trail camera one town over. (He told us later it wasn't his camera, that he was just pranking us) but I immediately recognized it. I asked her to send me the picture and I sent it to my friend who was with me when we saw it. He quickly replies "that's that f*cking thing!!!" I found out the picture was faked, but still can't help but to have my doubts. I researched the picture and demons to find some answers and found nothing.

Fast forward to October 2012 I'm on Facebook and I come across a page called "Weird Effingham, IL". So of course I start combing through the entire page and I find reports of sightings around the cemetery of creatures with glowing eyes. Nothing as in depth as what I saw but still enough to tell me that we are not the only ones who have seen something like that out there. I researched demons and paranormal some more. Still nothing.

In 2014 I'm scrolling through my Facebook news feed and the trail camera picture pops up. One girl I know posted it on the wall of another girl I know. So I immediately commented my story on it. When I go up to the previous comments I see that one of the girls was talking about seeing one! She replied to my comment and told me that she had seen it in the country in Effingham too! Back in 2011. This guy we went to school with commented on the status too and said that he had a friend that was super into the occult and that she said the are called 'ghouls.' So I went right into researching ghouls. What I find, blows my freaking mind! Lore says; they are cave dwellers. As I said previously the Kazbar Cemetery is surrounded by caves. They feed on the freshly dead and normally stay close to cemeteries to be close to food. They have been known to show themselves to humans when trying to get close to them to eat in times where fresh deceased bodies are scarce. I went to images of them and could only find illustrations but they look exactly like what I saw that night. Everything I was reading was falling perfectly in place. Lined up perfectly with my experience. I couldn't explain it away." WB

NOTE: These 'ghouls' are most likely the pale white crawlers or rakes that are constantly being seen throughout North America. Some people believe that they may even be Wendigo or some type of supernatural shapeshifting entity that are said to devouring human flesh. Some of the reports that I have received are quite interesting, and the witnesses tend to be very forthcoming. I have been talking with an individual in Ontario who has been plagued by these entities for many years. I may post his account at some point. Lon

Cryptid Canine Encounters in Appalachia

2 young witnesses in eastern Tennessee and southwest Virginia describe their harrowing encounters with cryptid canines in Appalachia

"When I was in the seventh grade in eastern Tennessee I was outside with my dog laying on a dirt mound looking at the clouds to pass the time. This was around 5:30 pm, when my dog started to start barking and pulling at the leash. We lived in the countryside so we have woods surrounding one half of our house. I tried hushing my beagle but she persisted. I then stood up and looked the direction she was looking to say "look, there isn't anything there." As I said that a large black creature with a canid body sprinted out of the woods. This creature had thin fur that was so black it had a pearlescent hue, with almost a purple tint. The eyes were a mid-shade of yellow. It's legs were crooked backwards and its hands were long and slender. It stood about seven feet tall when standing on its hind legs. When it dropped to all four it's back had an aggressive hunch and still maintained its fluid motion. Every step seemed pre-calculated. As it was sprinting it tilted its head towards me as if it was aware of me but could not be bothered by my being there. It then jumped over a four foot cattle fence without much difficulty.

I'm a senior in high school now and just last summer I had another experience. I worked with my father in his shed (he worked on motors and stuff) and had left my phone in there. My friend was staying the night, so we headed back down to the shed when I realized I had left my phone there. It was about ten o'clock and it was pitch black and about the same time of year as my previous encounter. We were standing outside the front of the shed trying to get the key into the keyhole when we heard a rustling in the brush in the woods. It was a very faint and sounded like that of the breeze on leaves. Both my friend and I heard it, so we turned the flashlights towards the brush only to see a pitch black shape standing in the light brush. The yellow eyes destroy my mind every time i recall the moment. My friend says "you see that, right?" By this time I was already sprinting towards the house.

Seeing this creature and knowing how it was just watching us tore my mind apart. It was so silent. I had a mental breakdown as soon as I got in the house. I've never had such an intense reaction to anything. From then on every time I went into the woods I felt like something was watching me. I know this sounds crazy and I get that. I struggle with telling anyone and this is the first time I've ever tried to reach out in search of similar experiences." ZD

"These two stories happened almost a decade apart, and for obvious reasons I cannot guarantee they are related at all, but it seems reasonable to at least entertain that idea.

The first story takes place at my cousin's trailer, a couple houses down from mine. We live in a rural town at the foot of the Appalachian region in Southwest Virginia, so there’s plenty of forest coverage around us. We were playing hide and seek, and all was well, until I tagged my cousin and made him the seeker. He hated seeking, so instead of playing the game, he decided to quit and sit on his front porch. The time was around midnight, maybe a bit earlier, so naturally it was pitch black outside, and perfect for scaring someone. My cousin's friend, my brother and I began to devise a plan to get revenge on my cousin for being a sore loser, and we came up with this: we lure him to the edge of the forest and my brother jumps out at him.

A very simple plan for a couple of dumb 13 year olds. So we got to it. We managed to convince him that there was something making noises in the woods, and so he came with us to investigate. As we walked the edge of the forest we heard something inside walking with us. I looked at my cousin's friend and we were both grinning, knowing it was my brother beyond those trees. Then, out of nowhere, my brother bursts from the side of my cousin's trailer, screaming and roaring, sending all of us into a fearful panic. He got us good, so good in fact, that we totally forgot about the noise coming from the forest, that could no longer be attributed to my brother.

As we were all laughing about the scare, we heard a horrifying noise come from the depths of the forest behind us. It was a LOUD scream, and sounded like a man screaming for help. It slowly changed pitch and to this day, I swear it said “help”. After about 5 seconds of human sounding screams, it turned into the most guttural roar I’ve ever personally heard. It was chilling. We ran inside and my cousin opened the blinds to his window, and it was right then when we noticed the obvious and haunting sight of a full moon.

Yes, we don’t know what could have made that noise. Yes there are farms around. It could have been a cow being attacked by coyotes, or pretty much anything that happens in rural America. But I’ve never heard anything like it before or after it.

Jump forward about 9 years, and I’m coming home late from work. As I’m driving I see two bright orange eyes peering at me from the side of the dark road. I thought it may have been a fox or a dog, but as I got closer, I realized it was no average fox or dog. It was a MASSIVE black wolf-like dog. This animal was so tall while on all fours, that it seemed to be almost as tall as my car. It’s back legs were almost kangaroo-like. Very long and muscular looking while the front legs were short and thin. It dashed across the road and I front of my car, jumping the fence to the left of the road with almost no struggle.

When I got home, I nonchalantly told my family that I finally got to see the 'Werewolf' that made that noise so many years ago. I don’t necessarily believe that it’s an actual werewolf, but I can’t honestly say it isn’t. Anyway, I thought you guys may enjoy these strange stories. Keep a keen eye out on full moon nights." OD

Frightening Bigfoot Activity in Belleplain State Forest, New Jersey

Hikers encounter terrifying activity by 2 or more Bigfoot while in Belleplain State Forest in southern New Jersey
The following account was received in August 2014:

Dear Phantoms & Monsters: I found your site while searching for bigfoot in New Jersey. I wanted to find information on sightings in southern NJ in particular. You see, my friend and I are witnesses to activity that may or may not have been attributed to bigfoot.

Last Saturday, we were hiking in Belleplain State Forest on the East Creek Trail. We are members of a hiking club from outside of Philadelphia and enjoy exploring new locations when we can.

We were heading back in the direction of our car which was parked in a lot approximately 1.5 miles north of us. It was late afternoon, around 6:30 pm and very warm. This section of the trail had a boardwalk built over a swampy thickly brushed forest. We were taking a brief break. It was very quiet, which we both commented on.

As we started to hike north we both heard deep grunts coming from behind us. As we turned to take a look a tree in the distance was shaking violently. It was difficult to determine the size of the tree, but it was tall enough that we could easily see it. Seconds later we heard a loud crash from the northwest direction. As this was going on the deep grunts were getting louder. Then were heard more crashing sounds from the northwest. We were now hiking along the trail at a good clip, even though were had gear on our backs. We could hear the sounds continue back and forth, as if it was a competition.

I won't lie to you, I was terribly scared. My friend was almost frantic and had created some distance between us. After several minutes the noise subsided, but we were still on edge. It wasn't long before we reached the car.

We discussed our experience during the drive home. We were both thinking 'Bigfoot' because of the tree being shook and the back-and-forth sounds.

My friend had a possible bigfoot sighting when she was younger while camping with her family in the Poconos. She was always wary and on alert when we hiked together.

Our hiking club had a meeting on Monday. We discussed our outing and what had happened. Most of the group agreed that it was likely a pair or group of bigfoot. Several of our members have had odd encounters during their hikes. The stories are noteworthy and incredible. But until now, I didn't give their recollections much thought or credibility.

Have there been Bigfoot sightings in southern New Jersey? People constantly discuss the Jersey Devil and other weird thing in the area, but I haven't heard of bigfoot located there. Thanks for reading. You can contact me at this email. PP

NOTE: I sent an email to the witness in which I stated that there had indeed been Bigfoot sightings and evidence in south New Jersey and in other parts of the state. The witness told me that the swamp area had white cedar and oak, and was thick with brush & dead trees. It seems unlikely that a person would have caused some of the activity. I've been in the Pine Barrens and areas south of there on previous occasions and I cannot think of any known creatures capable of causing such a ruckus. Lon

'Flying Monkey' Humanoid in Oregon / Large Gargoyle Near Texas Prison

2 accounts describing strange winged humanoids. One was a 'flying monkey' in Oregon and the other a large gargoyle near a Texas prison
On Wednesday April 15th I was the guest on Ground Zero Radio with Clyde Lewis. During the show, the following accounts were offered by callers:

Jerry in Oregon called in to tell of his winged humanoid sighting:

“I live in Oregon and your show tonight reminded me of something that happened about 25 years ago while going on up to the Columbia Gorge in the town of Bonneville. I was driving down the road about 4:00 AM in the morning, working on a boat, coming back from work. And there was something in the middle of the road. I was doing about 55-60 and I thought it was a dead deer or something. Then I started to slow down, to go around it, and all of a sudden my headlights hit this thing and this thing stands up. Its wings go past the side of the road. It stands up to about 6 to 7 foot tall, bends down and starts to fly away, about the time I come on it. All I could do is put both feet on my brakes and put my hands up over my head. This thing busted the grill out of my car, the headlight out of my car, hit the window, it rolled over my car. I slid to a stop.

I get out of the car thinking I hit somebody. I don't know what I hit. And there was nothing around. This thing wasn't behind my car, or on the side and it kind of freaked me out and I thought, Oh, well, I better get back into my car because I don't know what I just hit because it's not lying around here. I kinda reminded me of the flying monkeys from the 'Wizard of Oz'. That's the only way I can kind of explain it. I hadn’t thought about that for years until your show tonight. It was definitely a human-like creature but what freaked me out was this thing spread its wings and come up off the ground and I hit it. It got about a foot up off the ground and it tumbled into my window and over the top of my car. I hit this thing I don't know what it was. I didn't see no blood on my car, no hairs but I didn’t go through it with a fine tooth comb. I fixed my headlight and my grill. Marcel in Texas called in to tell of his winged humanoid sighting:

“A couple years ago, I was doing some time in a prison in central Texas and they would wake us up very early to take us to the shower before breakfast. And this specific morning, they had woken us up and I'm walking along this long slab of concrete. It had to have been about 100 yards to get to the chow hall.

And out in the...this place is in the middle of nowhere, right in Breckenridge, Texas. It's a little town... probably like 20 people live there. In the tree-line, way out in the tree-line, there's this cattle crossing where they bring a lot of cattle through during the day. And I saw this large... gargoyle creature and its standing on top of this thing... I don’t know what to call it... hunters use it to strap to the top of the tree and they use it shoot deer, they hang out and shoot deer... And this creature did kind of what you were describing, it came swooping straight toward me and my buddy. (Clyde asks what color it was) It was pitch black and its eyes were white but you could the black pinpoints in them. It was just the craziest thing. It spread its wings and it had to have been, probably, 30 feet. I'm pretty sure I wasn't dehydrated, though those prisons have no AC in the summer. I'm a pretty sane person and my buddy seen the same thing as me and nobody wanted to believe us. Rake in Cemetery Follows Witness Home / Pale White Humanoid Digging Under Bridge

2 bizarre witness accounts describing pale white humanoid encounters from Binghamton, NY and Corydon, Indiana
I recently came across these creepy accounts:

"We live in New York, specifically around the Binghamton area. We would go to the Evergreen Cemetery in Owego a lot. We would go to take pictures during the day because it was a beautiful. The highest peak of the cemetery looked out over the main downtown area and once night set it was an incredible sight.

Anyway, before this experience I have had previous encounters after dark with my fiancé and his friends. But this was nothing like the others. After dark this cemetery’s entire ambiance changes in an instant. I am hyper aware of every corner of my vision, my hearing and I just feel incredibly uneasy. My adrenaline starts to rise. So this one night my younger sister wanted to go see what I was talking about. So I'm like sure, but we need to stay in the car.

We enter the cemetery, which is a hill that evens out past the old grounds keepers house, then around a tight right turn. This then turns into a straight hill with a open area of graves to the left and to the right. Then another branch of road to the right a little ways up. We take that turn which you can keep following or you can turn off to leave. I stop at the small “intersection” and we sit in silence, taking in what we can see. The feeling of being watched creeps in after a while.

My sister then starts to frantically pull my arm and as I look at her I notice her gaze is fixated near a grave stone. The best way I can describe what I saw is this. It looked like I was looking at the back of Gollum from 'The Lord of the Rings,' but bigger. It was long, emaciated looking and hairless. Then its head whipped around and locked eyes with my sister. She froze and stopped shaking my arm, so I all but slammed the car into drive and sped down the hill out of the cemetery. It all happened so fast that I wasn’t able to get a good look at this things face and I'm not sure I really wanted to at the time.

Months passed by and my sister starting experiencing strange things at her house. Waking up with unknown bruises, feeling watched every night and just fear of being alone in her room. So I stayed over one night with her and as we lay down for bed, she rolls towards the wall “If you feel like something is staring at you, don't turn around..” And let me tell you. She wasn’t wrong. I had a hard time falling asleep, which was weird for me because we both grew up in the house we were in, so this shouldn’t have been a problem. So I'm laying on my back, eyes closed, listening to the dog chew on his bone near the closet. Then I feel this tall presence at the foot of the bed. I trying not to move, thinking I'm just scaring myself because of what she said. But I was wrong.

My sister, who I assumed was asleep, slowly reaches over and holds my hand under the blanket and squeezes. The blanket rips of my feet and the feeling of cold hands on my ankles sends goosebumps throughout my body. I squeeze her hand back waiting for it to be over. Now I never fell asleep up to this point in the night. I had been wide awake just laying there. So this happened all while being awake. The feeling and presence vanished soon after and I curled up further on the bed and called for the dog.

The next morning I had bruises covering my ankles. Needless to say, I don't spend the night over there anymore. This was a crazy experience and I have seen this thing on other occasions while at Evergreen Cemetery and my sister eventually was able to get this thing out of her house. Its still pretty scary to think about, and sometimes I feel a bit weird when I visit her." GD

"It was in Corydon, Indiana and the summer of 2017. My wife (now ex) and I had heard stories of the legend of Lickford Bridge and decided to check it out for ourselves. Story goes that back in the day the man who used to own the land would take his workers to the bridge and slit their throats and then dump their bodies into the river below. In more modern times after the house was renovated along with the bridge, a father killed his young family and buried them under the porch before killing himself on the bridge. There’s apparently police records from the time and you can see where it appears the porch of the house has been dug up.

So it was around 1 am when we decided to go. It was a humid and rather hot summer night, and we were driving with the windows down in a black car. As we turned down Lickford Road to go to the bridge which was pretty far back in the boonies, it began to get colder. By the time we arrived at the bridge, it was cold enough to see your breath. After crossing the bridge we noticed what had to have been thousands of fireflies in the trees looking like Christmas lights. Even after going to the house, we never felt any sense of dread or fear, just a general spooky vibe from an abandoned building.

On the way back towards the bridge, as we were about to cross, we heard a noise off to our left down by the bank. I figured it sounded like a deer hoofing the ground or something along those lines. As we went closer to investigate it became more clear it was the sound of digging and the dirt was occasionally being thrown into the water. When I shined my flashlight down the bank we saw what appeared to be a person in a squatting position and rapidly throwing dirt over their shoulder while digging. Upon closer inspection the figure was pale white and seemingly emaciated. As my light traveled up it’s back and came closer to its head it stopped digging and it’s head shot up quickly as it briefly turned around to face us. All I remember seeing were sunken, black eyes. We made a break for the car. Now the black car was covered in dust from the dirt road leading to the bridge, and when I shined my light on my car I saw several hand prints with elongated fingers. We drove away and vowed to never come back." BO

Bigfoot Watches Terrified Boy Through Window in Fayette County, Pennsylvania

A 12 year old boy encounters a Bigfoot peeking in the window as it stood on the porch. This occurred in December 2012 in Point Marion, Pennsylvania
The following credible account was recently posted on Facebook:

"I just figured I would get on here and share my Sasquatch encounter that happened in a small town (Point Marion in 2012) in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. But since I know I won’t be judged, laughed, or not believed for seeing or hearing what I saw and heard.

I was a 12 year old boy in 6th grade at the time playing in my neighborhood with all my friends. It was late, close to 9:00 pm in late December, close to Christmas. We were all hanging out in my driveway when we all heard what seemed to be a loud animal yelling. We all got quiet and listened close to the animal making the noise. As we listened it started to sound more and more like some kind of ape, but louder and more aggressive. We all started yelling and the creature became louder and louder and at some point it just stopped. We all decided to call it a night and we all went home. I went inside and went to bed because I had school the very next morning. I was sleeping on the couch with my brother because I was afraid to sleep in my room alone.

At 4:00 am I woke up to go to the bathroom. But as I woke up and started to get up I heard two loud footsteps slam down outside on my old wooden porch. I then was frozen in fear so I stayed very still and did not move. It was at that moment I saw it, slowly peeking around the corner looking into the window. It was large with a man-like face, but covered in hair, brown colored fur and black eyes.

As soon as it saw me I jumped under covers and did not move but I could hear it outside the window making some sort of noise. Five minutes went by that had seemed like an hour and it started growling at the TV reflection on the window. I eventually fell asleep under the covers sweating and frozen in fear.

To this day only one person ever believed me. But I know what I heard and saw that night and I will never forget it for as long as I live." NL

Crawling Humanoid Roams Near Home in Rural Quebec, Canada

A young rural Quebec resident describes a crawling humanoid that would roam the forest near his home
The following account was recently forwarded to me:

"These incidents occurred during my teenage years, at 16 years old. I lived in a small town of 2000 people, mainly surrounded by boreal forest, in a region of Québec, Canada. This place was great, as we often saw deer and it was usually a quiet and safe place. To put this in a bit of context, my house was located at the side of a dead end and the only light source at night was from house. There was a single street light at the end of the road, but it only lit a part of the street and the forest behind it.

We were a dog family. I only had small dogs when I lived there. Everyday we needed to let them out, as all dogs do. But at night they were almost impossible to see because of the darkness. Our terrain was kind of big and the light sources were weak.

I was a gamer at that time and I was often up late. So I was the one who needed to take out the dog at 2 am, because it stayed with me while I was playing. One night I opened the door and waited for my dog to do his thing while trying to look at it. I only was able to saw the reflection on the light in its eyes when it looked at me. I started to look around, because there were sometime deer roaming in the woods under the street light or wild turkeys moving around, when a little dark spot catched my attention. It looked like a human head coming out of the bushes, but I wasn't able to see it because it was a bit in the dark. I didn't want my dog to run after whatever it was (it had a tendency to run away after wild animals), so I called it. It didn't listen to me but the thing in the bushes started to crawl towards the street slowly. It looked like a human, with thin limbs but a normal body and a slightly long neck. I started to freak out a bit and shook the treats cup so my dog would hurry. It came inside running and I shut the door as fast as I could. I turned off the lights in my house so I could have a view of what was outside. The strange being crawled fast, almost running like a dog with every limbs broken, as a improvised crawling movement. The being passed under the light, where I saw it had no fur, like a shaved animal. It was disgusting. I was afraid and standing in the dark. The being ran towards the light and continued on the street, where I wasn't able to see it because the houses in my neighborhood were delimited by trees. I locked the door and went to sleep with my dog. I talked to nobody about it.

A couple months later I went to bed kind of early one night (11:00 pm) and went to watch some videos on my phone. These were gaming videos and I had earphones on. A sound on the video was recurring and I thought it was annoying, like a distant weird scream. After a couple minutes the video finished and I went to see another, but during the loading the sound occurred again. I took off my earphones and waited for the sound. I heard it and immediately had tears in my eyes. It was coming from my window. My room was at the second floor, so I looked down in the forest if there was some movement. The only light near the forest entrance was the moonlight and an underwater light in our pool that emitted a small halo around it. I wasn't able to see anything, but the sound occurred again. It was like a mix between a distorted scream and a pig having his throat slit, or a strong pain whining from a dog. I looked down and saw something that passed so fast it was really hard to see it but I barely saw a human-sized being with thin limbs crawling like a spider. It wasn't running after anything, but the sound occured another time. It was the most horrible thing I ever heard. I closed my window quickly. I heard it again three other times, and it stopped after that.

I talked to my dad about the sound and he told me it was probably a deer being attacked by a wild animal. I was so scared of it I barely walked in the woods at night the following 3 years, before moving in a city to go at a university.

Even this day I have never heard of an animal or being like that. There were barely any reports of wolves, coyotes or bears in my area, and believe me I made a lot of discoveries exploring the forest in this town." AB

It was huge, something very paranormal. It's all true. It was bright but not super bright, like a coal that is burning. As soon as I saw it, I ran to my parents bedroom but I never said anything. They wouldn't believe it, especially my dad who himself had many encounters with paranormal activities. I didn't pay attention to it, I just ran for my life. I've ever seen anything like that before and I don't wanna see it again.” MM

“Me and my nephew Ryan seen this thing flying over Forthall, Idaho and before I can ask him if he seen what I just did, he asked me if I seen what he seen and I asked him to describe it and a pterodactyl is what he described and I told him this is the same we both seen. And a different night I can describe someone around 6 foot tall with wings. I’d say gargoyle and people describe the same gargoyle creature.” JR

“I am a very logical person. I put fact above all else. But on March 6, 2020 while driving home from work, I spotted not one but 2 creatures just, like, flying over the fields of bovine. I live in Florida, and we have plenty of large birds, the Sandhill Crane specifically. But these two were significantly larger. Their wingspan was larger, and bat-like with actual claws. There were no feathers but a dark matte leather look to their wings. What sold it for me was the point on the head. I wish I had recorded the moment.” SM

Pale White Humanoid 'Crawlers': What Are They?

A man in suburban Tampa, Florida encountered a pale white crawling humanoid while walking his dog. What are these beings?
I received this report a while ago:

I was walking late one night with my German Shepherd, when I smelled an overwhelming stench of road kill. I looked over into the woods near my home and saw a naked pale white man-like thing crawling in the woods. It was on its hands, feet and knees about 3 inches above the ground.

I changed hands with my flashlight which my dogs leash prevented me from immediately shining it in that direction. In the 2 seconds it took to change hands and shine the light on this thing, it had moved 20 feet to near a tree it was trying to hide behind. It saw my light as it was swinging towards it and quickly crunched into a cannon ball like posture, and balanced on its toes & balls of its feet, hiding its face and held perfectly still.

I got a overwhelming feeling that if I kept shining the light on it, that it would look up at me with glowing eyes and a weird face. So I continued on with my walk. I thought maybe it was a teenager doing a mime, but there was no one taking a picture and this thing had a oddly pronounced spine and was absolutely hairless.


I went home and looked on the internet to see if this is something kids are doing now (painting themselves white, shaving all hair off, rolling around in road kill and crawling around late at night in woods). Well I found a picture on YouTube of a "Rake" that a hunters camera had taken that looked remarkable like this thing. I have no idea what it was, perhaps a underground dweller or ghoul - or God knows what. I live in a country suburb of Tampa, Florida called Lithia. If you have any idea what this thing was please let me know!

NOTE: This phenomenon has become more apparent over recent years. This southwest area of Florida (Tampa and the counties around it) is ripe with cryptid sightings. We really don't have any concrete evidence as to what these humanoids are. They are called rakes, fleshgaits, crawlers and a type of Wendigo. Lon

Bigfoot: 'Oh yeah, they are out there'

2 early accounts describing encounters with Bigfoot in the wilderness of northern California

“I've seen and heard Bigfoot. I"m sure there was more then one too. They were howling one night. My grandpa was a hunter and fishing guide at one time. I was staying with my grandma and grandpa at a logging camp where they were working in northeast California in 1967. We all stood at a window in our cabin listening one night and trying to figure out what kind of animal was howling because grandpa didn't know. He was completely perplexed 'It's not wolves...it's not coyotes.'

I've heard recordings lately on YouTube of them howling and it's the same kind of howling. I remember how I ended up seeing one because of my granny. She'd scare the heck out of me about bears, so I would stay close and not wander into the woods myself. I was on my own while they worked. I was always watching the woods. One day when they had some time off we went on a little hike through the woods together. I, of course, was watching for bears and I saw something dark between some big trees. So I looked closer and its head slowly turned and looked straight at me. I didn't say a thing. I was in disbelief. I was watching where I was walking and looked back again but it was gone. I kept looking in that spot but it was so sneaky. It moved fast away before I knew it.

Grandma and grandpa never ever talked about such things to me, so it wasn't my imagination or put in my head. It was in the area people are claiming to see them the most. Unfortunately I can't remember exactly where, but I remember very big trees. This is the first time I've said a word about the experience to anyone. Oh yeah, they are out there.” LB

“I use to backpack in the California High Sierra backcountry every summer from 1969 to 1988. The last time I went was with friends. I had a bad feeling something was watching us the whole time we were up there and I would dread the night fall. It was very quiet all the time. My other friends felt the same way. The day we left I walk at the fastest pace I could for 20 miles sometimes jogging with a 50lb backpack. We were suppose to stay 5 days we left on day 3. I haven't gone backpacking since that time.” CR
