Monstrous STICK FIGURE-LIKE HUMANOID Encountered in Southern Idaho Mountains

A pair of brothers are at an old ski lodge in southern Idaho with family. While there, they hear a strange whistling sound in the mountains. They later encounter a stick figure-like humanoid.

The following account was forwarded to me a few years back:

"I've lived in Idaho all my life and spent a lot of time outside or in the wilderness as a kid. My grandparents would take me camping and my older brother and I would always hike up whatever trail we could find to get a view of the sunset. On one of these occasions, something terrifying happened.

We were up at a campsite I only know as "Warm River" (the river there never freezes over) and my brother and I were on a regular evening hike. There was an old tunnel bored through the mountain at one part of the trail, probably an old train tunnel, and we were walking through it when I heard something I'll never forget. After walking through probably 2/3 of the way through the tunnel, I heard a terrible screech at the end we entered through. The screech wasn't like anything I'd heard before. I've heard the screams of animals on dark and windy nights. I even think I've heard Bigfoot calls a few times, but never the metallic, grinding screech I heard that day. The point is, whatever the sound was it did not sound natural in any capacity. I probably jumped 5 feet in the air when I heard it, and my brother shouted a few choice curses before shooing me quickly to the exit of the tunnel.

At this point, my brother decided we should just continue walking and head back after whatever made the noise hopefully cleared out. We didn't have any firearms on us, so I was pretty upset. My brother reassured me we would be fine, and we made the walk back without incident. However, I didn't get any sleep that night. Whether it was the thing that screeched at us or just my imagination, I heard things moving around the campsite the whole night, as well as whispers echoing through the darkness outside the trailer. I woke my brother up a few times to check out what it was, but he refused each time, telling me that it was probably just other campers staying up late and enjoying themselves. The rest of the trip was pretty normal. We packed up the following day and my life continued as normal. I was disconcerted but chalked what happened up as a harmless event that I must've been exaggerating in retrospect.

A few weeks later I went up to Pine Basin, an old ski lodge my family rented each year for family reunions. Here I would mess around with my cousins, our favorite activities being "night games". We would play hide and seek, a game called "ghosts in the graveyard", and other games like that. In one instance, I was chosen to be the seeker for a hide-and-seek game. Because I was one of the younger cousins, I got a flashlight as an advantage. Normally, all the younger cousins hid close to the lodge and the older cousins hid in the trees or at the base of the nearby mountain. As I was searching near the bottom of the mountain, I heard a familiar whistle up the mountain a bit (we would always whistle as a hint at our locations). It sounded like someone was hiding way up near a tree known as the "underwear tree" (you can guess why) so I began trekking up toward the whistle.

As I climbed closer, I got an uneasy feeling in my stomach. I continued on warily and convinced myself that I would be fine. I hated walking in the night alone but figured whoever I find would walk me back to the lodge. As I neared the tree, I noticed that it was deathly silent. This alerted me that something was very wrong because you could always hear the adults having fun back at the lodge. I was anxious to hurry back, so I called out "I found you Scott (I thought the whistle was my older cousin's), come back down with me". I got no reply, but I wasn't planning on waiting. As I began walking back down the path, I heard a voice call "you almost had me", so I ran back up to investigate. I flashed my light in the branches of the tree and saw a monstrosity that was not my cousin. It looked like a poorly drawn stick figure made into a human with its emaciated figure and lifeless eyes. I remember its face looked like the skin on its head was being pulled from behind: it had torn and stretched features. As soon as I saw the creature I screamed, dropped the flashlight, and ran back to the lodge.

The entire time I ran I was overcome by an overpowering smell and I could hear the thing running after me. As I approached the camp I saw a few people (my cousins) at the bottom of the mountain waiting for me. I was crying and shaking and they took me inside. I told my dad what happened, but my cousins all said they didn't see anything following me. The adults kept us inside for the night, and I kept hearing sounds drifting in from the mountains. I never played night games after that happened, and was always terrified that my cousins wouldn't listen to my warnings.

Ever since that night, I have always felt uneasy up in those mountains. I used to be really religious and figured it was a demon of some kind trying to kill me or something like that, but those mountains have never felt the same after that incident. A few years ago the game “Until Dawn” became really popular and I watched a walkthrough of it on YouTube. When the Wendigo first appeared in the game, I got chills down my spine. It was exactly what I saw, and I did a ton of research on them. I figure someone must've gotten snowed in at that old lodge and resorted to cannibalism, but that doesn't explain what happened at Warm River. I still hear that screech from time to time (it never occurred to me until watching 'Until Dawn' that they might be from the same thing) and it scares the hell out of me every time. I heard it earlier tonight, and that's why I decided to finally write my story down." MV

TALL SKINNY HUMANOID & UNDERGROUND CONSTRUCTION Discovered in Northern Arizona Desert

A Phoenix, Arizona man is in northern Arizona hiking and exploring. That night, he has an encounter with a tall skinny humanoid. The next day he makes a discovery that frightens him for years.

The following inquiry was forwarded to me:

"In 2015 I took a trip through northern Arizona (I live in Phoenix) hiking, taking photos, and enjoying nature. At one location it was late so I decided to park for a few hours or spend the night in my truck. I had the truck turned off, with the window down. There was a huge full moon in the sky behind me, I was looking at it in my outside rearview mirror.

Then this 'being' walked from my left to my right, about 4-6 feet behind the tail of my truck. It stopped and looked at me. It was about 8 feet tall, very skinny, with long arms with the elbow lower than ours would be. The neck was about a foot long pointing forward a bit, oval head and what looked like a 4-foot tube extending from the jaw down forward, almost like a very long beard coming to a point. The moon was behind it so I saw it in silhouette. It walked very slowly like it was struggling to move. I tried to roll up my window but the truck was off. Slowly it slightly turned its shoulders towards me and that long freakish neck turned like an insect would. The face looking right at me. I thought that was it, I'm dead. It looked so skinny I figured it was hungry. I had my hand on the keys, if it came towards me I'd turn the truck on, roll up the window and take off.  The head turned back forward and it walked on. I waited a minute then started the truck and took off.

A few months later I decided to go back but in the daytime. I found the exact spot. There was nothing there but dirt and desert. No buildings for miles, all dirt roads. I traveled around the area since I was there, did a bit of hiking then came upon a place and parked. It looked like an old crash site, with a hole in the ground, big rocks all burned, and bushes growing in it. Whatever happened there happened a long time ago. Then I heard digging sounds, like heavy machinery, trucks backing up and making the 'beep beep' sound, like a lot of them but there was nothing around me for miles, just desert. I drove around a bit to see where the sound was coming from but I was all alone out there. I went back to that spot and could clearly hear lots of trucks busy at work, like major digging construction machines. I then got on my knees and put my ear to the ground. The digging sound was coming from underground.

I thought that was odd, nothing around that would identify that area for construction, out in the desert on a very simple road, saw no one pass by at all.  Then I noticed out in the desert two big white shiny pickup trucks facing me, windows were black. They seemed to appear out of nowhere, then behind me were two more. It was just me, the 4 trucks, and a lot of people digging under me. I got concerned, got back in my truck, and left.

After a bit, I slowed down. No one was following me so I drove until I got to the next road. There was an underpass to the road to go north. I take a right to go south, go under the underpass and take a left.  At both exits were the same big white pickup trucks, the glass-tinted black and waiting. Whichever way I turned one of them would be behind me. I headed south, and the truck behind me immediately took off after me. The other truck turned around and followed. The truck was right on my bumper. It was so large I couldn't see in its window but it was tinted so dark I'd not seen anyone driving anyway. I was going 90 miles an hour, and as it was right on my tail the other one tried to overtake me. I was weaving between two lanes to keep it from passing, as I'd gone into the left lane to block the second truck the one behind me tried to pass me on my right. this went on for miles until there was an exit with a few shops there. I took that exit, and both trucks slowed, did a U-turn, and retired back.

I knew they had my license plate, so I figured I was screwed. I uncovered something they didn't want to be found. I went home and just waited for a knock on the door or to be shot or whatever. Nothing happened. I got no contact, no warning, nothing. I was afraid to tell my friends as they might be incriminated, too.

Years passed and nothing happened. It's been 7 years now, and I've never gone back to either location. By me seeing that thing walking and where I heard the digging underground and very earthly trucks trying to run me off the road, could there be a connection? I don't know, I stopped going out into the desert from then on.

SPIRITS ASCENDING on 9/11 From Ground Zero

The following article was written for me by my late friend and colleague Chris Holly in May 2010. I have written 9/11-related eyewitness accounts associated with unexplained paranormal activity as well.

"I rarely discuss 9/11. I have never written about it before in any fashion. I am a New Yorker and my feelings are very strong and very personal on this subject. I lived in New York City as did my family during the 9/11 attack on this country and my view is not a long-distance viewpoint mine is from the horror of watching it happen to the people in my town. I do not respond to the theories that float about freely on this subject. It sickens and hurts my heart like no other to listen to those who were nowhere near this horrible act of hate give long-winded opinions of who and what happened that morning on September 11, 2001.

I do know what it was to watch two planes fly into a no-fly zone; I do know what it is like to watch those planes fly into two buildings big enough to fill the space of an average town in America. I do know what happens when towers as big as towns fall down upon the surrounding area hitting and destroying everything in the way on the way down. I also know what it is like to hear my son say to me, “Why are they throwing laundry out of the windows.“ I also know what it is like to hear that same son say to me once he places his eyeglasses on to look again, “Oh God Mom. People are jumping, Oh God, no! So many are jumping!” I will never forget his voice at that moment. All I could do was tell him to look away and run.

That is what I know about 9/11. I know what 9/11 smelled like and what people in terror look like covered in the gray ash of the combined fallen towers and the dead. I also learned how brave, strong, and kind my fellow New Yorkers proved to be. So you will have to excuse me if I walk away from or twist in sickness and quickly retreat from those who spend hours in the debate about something they did not see, live through, and in my opinion, have any idea at all what they are talking about.

It was a time when things became surreal while things unimaginable were happening all around us and an average morning caught New Yorkers dealing without warning into total survival mode. Quickly the extreme conditions around you become crystal clear and you are aware of everything happening. It is how you live through these types of events. Your senses become acute and you become very clear about what is going on.

I cannot and will not forget that day. I also cannot and will not forgive those who entertain themselves with theories and ideas that just do not apply to what happened. That is all I have to say on that area of this subject.

What I want to share is an event that happened at dusk on the day the Towers fell. All of New York was focused on the horror going on in our city. The city was locked down. New Yorkers were trying to deal with the ordeal of searching for survivors. The world watched as we faced the nightmare of being crushed by buildings as big as most small towns in America.

About 8 miles outside the city on the south shore coast of Long Island looking at the city my cousin, her husband, and her friends and family were gathered at a dock where they kept a large boat on the Atlantic Ocean side of New York. They heard from other people who had boats docked that you could watch what was left of the towers burn and also see the spirits rise if you went out in the water and anchored adjacent to the city skyline.

My cousin and her family and friends decided to take the boat out to see if they could have one last look at what was left of the towers which were a landmark on the skyline of New York City along the coast. My cousin told me it was a silent ride out with heavy broken hearts for those lost and the realization terror was now a word that would stay with us forever. They made their way to the group of other boats anchored in the area that proved to be the best last look at the mighty World Trade Center Complex. She told me the boats all floated silently in the water as they watched the smoldering building pieces that remained and broken buildings in the area smoke in a slow sad last gasp of what they once had been. She said the fires were out but a glow surrounded the ground zero site in a strange eerie fashion.

My cousin told me they sat there for a very long time without talking and openly wept at the horror before their eyes. Most people knew people who worked in or near the towers. No one was sure who was alive or who was dead. It was a day like no other for New York City and its adjoining communities.

As they sat on the boat watching they all started to notice at once something very odd going on at the ground zero sites. Over the buildings, above the city, they realized they were seeing flashes of what looked like light rising from the top of what was left of the tower complex rising up into the darkening sky. The group of people sitting on the boats watched in silence as this strange activity increased until they witnessed hundreds of ghost-like white wisps rise from the ground and lift into the night sky. The people watching started to cry as they all were sure of what they were watching.

My cousin talked to me a few days later and told me that she knew people would think she was crazy but she was sure of what she had seen. She told me it was not smoke. It was not spotlights. It was hundreds and hundreds of individual souls rising above the site until you could no longer see them. Straight up until they were simply gone. She told me they looked like a white glowing shape about body size and that the entire thing lasted for only an hour or so and then it slowed and stopped. She told me she knew it was the confusion of the day that kept the souls earthbound until they realized it was over and that they needed to move on. 

This event has forever changed her life. I cannot prove or disprove what the people saw on those boats. I do know it was profound and stayed with them all. My cousin was a serious skeptic and extremely set in her beliefs until this event occurred. She returned from this event a very different person. The entire group who were on that boat that day have been changed and insist they were witness to the spirits of those who were taken that day rise and leave ground zero.

I did not see this take place and can only report what I was told. I do know firsthand that for days following the World Trade Towers attack New Yorkers for miles around the city spent days washing the gray thick dust that hovered drop from the sky covering cars, patio furniture, and flower pots. Our decks and windows all were covered. I recall the odd still feel of the days after and the attack as well as the strange cry of the wind that would arrive and hum in a sad sorrowful way as we hosed off our vehicles, houses, and belongings from the gray coat of dust covering everything. I clearly recall hearing my neighbors and family members praying aloud as we hosed off our world knowing we were not only washing away the remains of the towers but those who perished in them. I recall the taste of the ash and forever will remember the smell. The smell of disaster and death covered the area for miles and miles. We all cried as the dust would cover our hands and faces as we hosed off the gray ash covering everything. I remember spitting out dust as I washed down my car sick at heart knowing I may be spitting out someone's father or mother, son, or daughter. It was a time like no other in modern American history and one that must never be forgotten.

I believe my cousin, her family, and her friends. Looking at their faces as they tell you what they saw leaves no question in my mind that they did watch the spirits of 9/11 rise to a better place. That is all I have to say about 9/11 and the souls of those lost that terrible day." Chris

The Bizarre & Unexplained COWDEN FAMILY MURDERS

I wanted to look back at the terrible multiple murders that occurred in Oregon in 1974. It has never been solved because of the lack of evidence, motive, and overall strangeness of the case.

NO SOLID CLUES TO MISSING FAMILY

Medford, Oregon (AP) Investigators still have no solid clues as to the whereabouts of a Medford area family who disappeared from a campsite at Copper on September 1, a state police officer said late Wednesday.

Lt. Tom Phillips said several detectives are assigned to the case and they have many leads but nothing firm.

Missing are Richard Cowden, 28, White City, his wife Belinda, 22, and their two small children.

The family vanished from their campsite in a rugged mountain area 25 miles southwest of Medford near the California border.

An official search of the area was suspended on Sept. 7, but friends and relatives of the family that lives nearby have been devoting many weekends and vacation time to continue looking, Phillips said.

The family was to visit Cowden's mother in Copper on the evening of Sept. 1st but never arrived.

Police said although they have no evidence of foul play, the campsite showed indications that the family had left abruptly, some wearing only swimsuits.

The Cowden's pickup truck was left behind with camping gear and other belongings, police said. Their dog was found unharmed about five miles from the camp. - Tri-City Herald

FILE ON COWDEN MURDER OVERFLOWS BOX

Medford, Oregon (AP) - Quietly, and without fanfare, investigators here continue to pour over clues in the Cowden family murder case, one of the more bizarre multiple homicides in Oregon history.

It will be one year ago this Sept. 1 when Richard Cowden, his wife, Belinda, and two small children vanished from their campsite near the town of Copper in southern Oregon's Siskiyou Mountains.

The four bodies were found by prospectors last April 12, 7 1/2 months after the family vanished.

Lt. Mark Kezar of the Oregon State Police has coordinated the investigation, which he says remains very much active.

"The whole nature of the thing smacks of a weirdo," he said recently, adding that the police know a lot they don't feel free to discuss at this point.

Cowden, then 28, was a log truck driver from White City, Ore. He had taken his family camping in the Siskiyous over Labor Day. He had planned to work around his house, but plans to borrow a truck he needed had fallen through.

So, they went camping, and on Sunday, September 1, Cowden and son David, 5 went from the camp to Copper to buy milk.

It was 9 a.m.

None of the family was reported alive again.

A massive search for miles around the campsite turned up nothing, although it is now known that the searchers were as near as 100 feet from the small cave into which the bodies of the family had been crammed.

Lt. Kezar said an extensive investigation has put together this chronology.

Cowden returned with David to the camp, and the family went swimming in adjacent Carberry Creek later that morning.

A short time later, probably before noon, the family was abducted, probably at gunpoint, and most likely probably by someone they did not know.

Kezar surmises they had probably driven some distance away, forced up the steep slope where they were found, and at least three of them were shot.

Medical authorities have been unable to determine how Richard Cowden died. "It's a presumed homicide," said Dr. William Brady, state medical examiner. "I'm sure he was shot, even though we can't prove it."

The skeletal remains of Cowden were found on a steep hillside. The bodies of the other three were placed in the small cave, and the entrance was sealed with rocks to disguise it and hide the bodies.

"We're sort of settled on our own ideas", Kezar said. "Whether it's enough to go to the grand jury with is another matter."

Cowden's father, who committed suicide some months ago, after the family vanished, has been cleared, Kezar said.

"You have to remember, it was summer and there were all sorts of people in that area--- so-called hippie types, a motorcycle group, and so on."

He said the time lapse between the murders and the discovery of the bodies has hobbled the investigation but that some evidence still is being evaluated by his office, the FBI, and others.

The file on the case long ago outgrew its folder and now overflows a large cardboard box.

It includes hundreds of letters, some from mystics, some from people who solved the mystery in a dream, and many more from people with a hunch or an idea that might have been overlooked.

But, Kezar said, none have shed any light on the case, which, he hints, maybe but a small, but vital link from being solved. - Tri-City Herald

The Cowden Family Massacre

Richard Cowden and his wife Belinda June lived together with their five-year-old son David James, and their five-month-old daughter Melissa Dawn. They owned a small cozy house in White City, Oregon, a perfect place to raise a young family.

The Cowdens loved to camp, but they had not planned to go camping that Labor Day weekend of 1974. Richard had planned to haul a load of gravel for his driveway and spend the weekend getting the job done. Unexpectedly, the truck broke down, so without thinking twice, they decided to go up to the Siskiyou Mountains for a family camping trip.

They had planned to camp out until Sunday, September 1st and then stop at Belinda’s mother’s house for dinner before heading back home. Belinda’s mother lived only about a mile away from the campground. Early on Sunday morning, Richard and David were seen at the general store which was only less than a mile away from their campsite. There they bought a quart of milk, then they were seen heading back in the direction they had come from. It was the last time they were seen
alive.

After waiting for her daughter and her family for hours, Belinda’s mother became worried that they had failed to show up. She then grabbed her keys and decided to pay the campsite a visit to find out what was holding them up. When she arrived, she saw the family’s car parked and the campsite undisturbed. On the picnic table, she found the quart of milk, Belinda’s purse, and Melissa’s diaper bag. It was as if the family had just stepped away momentarily. As she walked around the campsite, she discovered both Richard’s expensive wristwatch and wallet containing $23 laying on the ground by the creek. She tried to keep her calm and waited for them, thinking they would be back any minute.

After waiting for about an hour, she finally decided to call the Sheriff. Officers searched the area until it grew so dark they couldn’t see a thing. The area was searched every day for over a week, but not even the smallest clue suggesting a possible scene arouse. There was no sign of a struggle, it was as if they had just disappeared out of thin air. The robbery was obviously not a motive since everything was left at the campsite. If they had drowned in the creek nearby, their bodies would have surfaced by then.

Could they have vanished voluntarily? Richard and Belinda had no more debts than the average couple, they were not behind on any payments and Richard made more than enough money to support his family. So if not robbery, and both the possibilities of them having drowned or voluntarily disappeared out of the way, What happened to the Cowdens? Officers could not figure it out.

Seven months went by without any explanation for their disappearance. When the case started to feel like it was going nowhere, Oregon officers caught a break. In April of 1975, two men hunting deep in the Siskiyou woods came upon remains of what looked to be human bones. Officers were quickly called to the scene and an investigation began.

Four corpses were found, that of a man, a woman, a young child, and an infant, the remains of the Cowden family had been finally found. Belinda and David’s remains were found stuffed in a small cave, they both had suffered from several .22 caliber gunshots. Baby Melissa’s remains were also found in the cave but the autopsy showed she had died from severe blows to her head. Richard’s body was not found inside the cave with the rest of his family, but several feet outside. His body was too decomposed to tell exactly how he had died.

Thinking of the possibility that Richard could have murdered his own family, detectives searched the area for a gun or other weapon. If Richard was indeed responsible for the deaths of his family and his own suicide, then some sort of weapon would still be around. No gun or weapon was ever found, not even the smallest clue to give the officers of White City a lead.

It has now been 37 years since the young family from Oregon went on the camping trip that would end their lives. The questions are still on the surface waiting to be answered, what happened to the Cowden family? Who murdered them and why? NOTE: Is there another explanation for these deaths...possibly involving a natural creature? Dwain Lee Little, the man suspected in these murders, had been convicted of 1st-degree murder in 1967 at the age of 15. He had been paroled from the Oregon State Penitentiary on May 24, 1974, less than four months before the Cowdens vanished. Dwain Lee Little was never cooperative with mental health treatment and refuses to discuss any of the murders he is accused of. Little is still alive and incarcerated. Lon

Creepy GREY-ROBED KIDS Roaming Minneapolis at Night

Marie in Minneapolis made two separate phone calls, first to Coast to Coast and then to Darkness Radio looking for answers regarding something that happened to her the night after Halloween (2014) while doing her paper route. The event clearly disturbed her and she couldn't explain it nor could any of the hosts or guests of the various radio shows.

November 1, 2014 – Minneapolis, Minnesota

“This happened the night after Halloween. I deliver newspapers at night and I was delivering newspapers that night and it was business as usual. I rounded this curve and I saw a group of kids in the middle of the road. There were about six of them and they were all wearing grey robes with hoods. They didn't have the hoods on, they were down their backs. I thought that was kind of strange because Halloween had ended about ten hours before that. One of them saw me and started walking very quickly towards my car saying something. She got very close to my car and I could see that she was about 15 years old and my first thought was...'Why was she out there?' That's pretty young to be out there at that time of night, it was about 4:30 in the morning. I didn't have time to talk to her so I drove around her but then there were the other five kids in the middle of the road and then they saw me and they fanned out to surround my car so I couldn't move and that scared me. I drove up on the lawn to get around them but they were coming pretty quickly at my car and I almost hit one of them and then I thought, I'm gonna call the police because this is quite odd. Then I thought, I better follow them so I could tell the police what they're doing. I saw them turn down this street and I turned to follow them and it took about ten seconds to get to this street and they were gone. They had disappeared and there's no way they could have gone to even the first house.”

Marie in Minneapolis called in to Darkness Radio to again tell her story, looking for answers, something she felt didn't happen when she called Coast to Coast.

“I'm wondering if you could help me with this. It happened last Halloween night. It's bothered me ever since. I tried calling Coast to Coast but nobody really helped me with it or told me what I experienced so I was kind of hoping with all the calls and guests you've had that maybe you could help me. Well, what happened to me was I delivered newspapers at night. I was on the street at about 4:30 in the morning and I saw a group of kids. Like I said, it was after Halloween, 4:30 the next morning on November 1st and these kids, there were about six of them and they were all dressed in grey robes with hoods, they weren't wearing them, the hoods were down their back. They saw my car and one of them came toward me aggressively. She came up to my car but I didn't stop for her. I looked at her and she was very pretty but very young. She looked like she was 14 or 15 years old and the first thing I thought was, why was someone that young out at this time of time. So I drove around her, I didn't stop than the other ones saw me and they all fanned out to surround my car to stop my car and I didn't want that to happen so I drove up on the guy's lawn, the house that was to the left of me. I drove up on his lawn to get away from them but I almost hit one of them, that's how much they were coming after me and it scared me. I didn't know why they wanted me to stop so I thought, I better call the police so I got my phone out and I looked in my rearview mirror and they were all huddled together like a football huddle and I thought, You know, these are kids and I almost hit one of them, you'd think they'd be jumping up and down and swearing and flipping me off but they weren't, they were all together in this huddle and then they went down this street and I thought I better follow them so I can tell the police what they are doing and I mean it was seconded since I turned around and went down the street and they were gone. Just that fast, they were gone. And there's no way they, all of them, could have gotten anywhere. It just kind of spooked me and I'm never afraid at night but I was for three days after that. They were dressed in robes which I thought was weird too because being that age they don't want to be dressed the same, you would think. So, I just thought it was an odd group of people to have out at that time of night and then to come after me the way they did and I didn't know what they wanted. It was 4:30 in the morning on November 1st right after Halloween.

I called Coast to Coast because David Weatherly was on there and I guess he's the expert on, what Black Eyed Children? I thought maybe that's what they were. It sounded like that's what it could have been but he didn't really say much. He just said that Halloween was the night that portals are open or something and whatever can get through. These kids literally disappeared. They went down this big street with big houses with big lawns and I was right behind them and there's no way they could have gotten anywhere. They couldn't even have made it to the end of the first house without me seeing them and they were gone and that's what freaked me out. It was so bizarre and it scared me. I was scared to be out for three nights.”

Possible BIPEDAL SCREECHING 'NOT DEER' Encountered in Appalachia Virginia

An Appalachia Virginia college student who is out late at night encounters a possible 'Not Deer' that is sprinting on its back legs, coughing, and screeching. Or was it something else?

The following account was recently forwarded to me:

"I live in mountainous south-central Virginia in a pretty rural area. My house is a townhome in a neighborhood right next to a middle school. I've lived in this house for over ten years and frequently went on walks during the daytime all around the neighborhood itself plus the surrounding buildings and woods, but I've never gone on a walk at night here. After starting college, I got very accustomed to taking walks around my campus at night when the weather's nice, so now that I'm home for winter break and Virginia is in one of its weirdly warm winter weeks. I decided I may as well go on a walk at night since it's a safe area and night walks are almost daily routines for me now.

So, I leave my house at around midnight. I walk over to the middle school and I sit down on the track (the track is a concrete oval going around the soccer field). I'm just sitting there, relaxing, listening to music with one earbud in. I also had a lit candle on the ground a foot in front of me, which sounds kind of weird of me to have, now that I type it out. Lighting candles, while I sit and chill somewhere outside, is just a habit I developed from having a ton of candles and being unable to light them in my room at college.

I hear what sounded like a cough, so I instantly stop my music and start looking around. I don't see anything, but I'm an extremely paranoid person, so I'm on edge, even though everything seems fine. I just sit there doing nothing for maybe one or two minutes, and I start settling back down.

So I'm almost fully relaxed, but then I hear the "cough" again. Then I see something sprint on its back legs across the field faster than I've ever seen anything move before, and it gets to the other end of the field and then continues to stand there on its hind legs. I couldn't see it super well because it was dark and far away. Since I had just heard coughing and it was running on two legs, I initially thought it was a person. But when it was standing still, I could see that it was too large and weirdly proportioned to be human. It was also screeching the whole time. Like, an incredibly loud horror-movie-creature screeching that made my ears ring.

It looked like its back was to me, so I took the opportunity to pack up and sprint home. I'm physically disabled and I can move around just fine but never very quickly. I literally cannot think of another time in my life when ever ran that fast.

The only sort of paranormal thing I believe in is plain old ghosts, so as soon as I got home, I texted all my friends about it and Googled all I could. Everyone, I texted reassured me it was probably just injured or diseased since that can make deer act weird like that. So that's a little reassuring, but at the same time, I'm Googling about deer running on their hind legs and screeching their heads off, and while it's a decently documented occurrence, none of the pictures and videos on any website are anywhere near what I saw.

I've read descriptions of deer running on their hind legs and I've watched videos of it. None of the videos I've seen really match up with just how strangely fast this thing was moving. Like, it was basically a blur running past me." M

SMELLY BLACK-HAIRED PALE HUMANOID Confronts Family in South Dakota

A family is in rural South Dakota shooting guns at night. While there, they start to smell a rotten egg odor. Then suddenly they are confronted by a thin pale humanoid with long black hair.
The following account was recently forwarded to me:

"In 2018 I visited some of my family who lived in South Dakota and worked there for the summer. After about a month my brother, sister, and her husband decided to go shoot guns in the woods. I had to work an evening shift so it was decided we’d go after, around 10pm. Once my shift ended we went to their house to pack up the truck with some snacks, guns, and ammo.

The drive took around 45 minutes and it took us up a dirt road surrounded by trees and tall grass. Eventually, it opened up into a clearing that was pretty open and flat. The nearest tree line was about 100 feet away. It was pretty dark but the clearing was lit up by the truck's headlights. I kind of felt uneasy, but I chalked that up to just being in the woods at night.

For the first 20 minutes, nothing really happened. We were just setting up plastic bottles and those plastic gallon buckets you’d get water out of at an office. There was a feeling of being watched that we all felt. The area suddenly reeked of spoiled eggs. Those of you who have shotguns know they can smell but, even since going into the military no amount of guns/explosions have smelled this bad. We looked around to see if we could see the source and what I saw I can still vividly remember to this day.

What I saw was a thin humanoid figure crouching down and looking at us. Even while crouching down it was still about 6 feet in height. When I say this figure was thin, I mean skin and bones barely do it justice. The even weirder thing about this was we all saw the figure in different spots in the tree line, but we all described the same features. Tall, thin, and had long black hair. We quickly packed up what we could and left. The feeling of dreading felt that day will forever haunt me. Since then my brother mentioned the area might have been in the native territory, but I don’t know how if that’s true.

Every once in a while I think back on that day and I look up different stories and encounters people have in the woods, but nothing quite resembles what I saw that day." K

The MUSCONETCONG RIVER 'MANTIS MAN' Encounters Investigation

In July 2011 I received a report of an encounter with a 'Mantis Man' on the  Musconetcong River near Hackettstown, NJ. That was just the beginning of this phenomenon.

Here is the original email:

"Lon--I have recently been doing research regarding an encounter I had about five years ago.

Fly fishing on the Musconetcong River in New Jersey with my boss, I saw briefly what I could only describe as "a Praying Mantis Man".

Although the water was clear, there had been heavy rains the past couple of days. We should not have been out there; the river was "smooth" but the current was exceptionally strong. I was leaning backward and digging my heels into the gravel but the river was still kicking me along pretty well. Sketchy navigating.

Please know, I am "privy to the paranormal" and always have been. Shadow people, ghosts, whatever. But what I encountered that day was not Spirit. It was a "biological", living creature. But it disappeared into thin air almost as soon as I saw it.

For whatever reason, my searches at the time turned up nothing. But then by chance, I came across an 'Alien Race' type video on Youtube, and there in the artwork, I saw what I saw: "Ancient Mantis Leaders". So when I began searching "Mantis Alien" instead of "Praying Mantis Man", I found a lot more.

They say they are "interdimensional", whatever that means, but I did not get that impression. No, this creature was cloaked and because of both my innate sensory perception skills and the particular physical circumstances at the time, (important), -- I can add details if you are interested -- I just "Caught it". Movement out of the corner of my eye to my left and there it was.

Humanoid. Tall. 6 foot at least --no reference points-- but I sense 6'6" - 7'. Moving away from me back up the bank. (I am chest-high in the river) The first thing I see was the 'grasshopper' thigh, but bending forward like a human. Then the whole form. He is looking at me over his shoulder, moving up the bank, astonished, amazed. What, that I am in the water in a strong current, that I can see him? But yes we lock eyes and this creature is astonished-- I get the sense that he can't believe I am in the water, that he can't believe I have seen him, that I am not perturbed at all-- something of all three, I still don't know-- just astonishment and he is actually trying to get away from me and the water!

Triangular Head. Huge, slanted black eyes. Just like a Praying Mantis. Its whole body was gangly, nobby, (Nobby!) but you could still sense it was powerful, and no -- I would not say it was a "Big Bug" -- it was definitely humanoid despite the mantis/insect qualities...

No, I did not tell my boss about this, who was in the water too about fifty yards behind me at the time. Being "privy to the paranormal" you just see these things and sort of go "okay". No fear, no nothing-- but I do get the sense that my "whatever" attitude contributed to this creature's astonishment. Frankly, I didn't give the encounter much thought until recently.

I can forward more details. I just believe now that this encounter was somehow very important.

I wrote back to the witness requesting further detail:

The description of the head is not too uncommon from other sightings that have been reported

"This took place in Hackettstown, NJ. The stretch of the Musconetcong River here is unusual in that its west bank borders Rt. 46, (a local highway, congested with lots of stores) but the east bank where we were fishing borders fields and farmlands.

No bank to speak of on the developed side, but the sloping bank on the rural side was high (ten feet?) A strip of trees about 10 - 20 yards thick separated the river from the fields beyond, but there was the occasional gap/path, each about 20 yards wide that allowed clear access to the river.

As I mentioned, the weather had been bad the previous several days, and the sky was white and heavy. It was mid-afternoon.

When I saw the Mantis Man, it was in one of these gaps, moving back up the bank towards the fields, looking back at me over its left shoulder. About 15 - 20 yards away.

So understand that it was several feet above me (I looked up at it) and framed clearly against that blank/white sky. Like a full ghost apparition, it was indeed clear but nevertheless nearly transparent and fading fast. Then it "evaporated" mid-stride.

Again, I stress the strong impression that The Mantis Man was cloaked and I "caught it" just right; it abruptly found itself against a "new"/blank background and was adjusting quickly. No, I do not believe it "slipped" into another dimension/plane.

I detected movement and first saw that strong left thigh, (and strong right calf) then the whole thing, and immediately those eyes/face. The whole encounter was only a couple of seconds. I can not tell you with any strong certainty what its feet or hands looked like --I wasn't looking there-- but I can tell you that its arms were "normal", and not the literal Mantis forelegs I have recently seen in drawings of these "Aliens".

A few days later, I came across the following post in the Hackettstown Life online forum. This is the original entry:

Mantis Man sighting on the M'cong... this is no joke

I like a good story like anyone else, but my friend told me a story today that was so profound that I felt the need to share it with the rest of the town. This friend of mine who told me this story is a very successful businessman. Deep into our conversation today he started tearing up uncontrollably and told me he had something to get off his chest that had been eating at him for some time. I hope you're ready for this because I wasn't.

Apparently about a year ago my friend and his brother were down at Stephen's State Park fishing right around dusk. During this time, while his brother was roughly 50 yards downstream fishing, he said he felt this strange vibration in his right ear and from that he turned and looked to the right. When he turned and looked to the right he said he saw this 6 to 7-foot praying-mantis-looking man... just standing there and unable to believe that he could see him. He said the creature was black and gray and to be quite honest, the way my buddy was telling me this story, I was having a tough time. I know he saw this thing... because I could see it on his face.

Anyhow, we Googled "Praying Mantis Man on  Musconetcong " right after that and it turns out my friend is not alone. I can't even emphasize enough how bad my friend was crying today over what he saw.

Well, as soon as I read this I started shooting off inquiries. When I went back soon after, the following post was entered:

Coincidentally I just happen to run into the teller of this story as I speak while out to dinner with my wife. I told him that I posted his tale on the local forum. After freaking out he saw how some people actually believe him. Now, when it comes to something like this I would never denigrate either of our credibility, but I just had him tell me the story again and if he's not telling the truth then he certainly believes he is.. needless to say, and incidentally he's freaked me out all over again. He actually just admitted that he wet himself during these three brief seconds and he sat down in the water so his brother didn't think he ....his pants. I'm happy some of you take this to heart because of the karma which I live by.. whether this guy saw this being or not he is telling the truth ... A truth he believes wholeheartedly.

An hour or so later, the following was posted:

That's a big 10 4, Lon! I would like to patch the truth together and would love for you two to speak. It was the passion with which this guy (whom I've known for a number of years) spoke today. I am such a fan and proponent of topics like this that I would never slander or 'cry wolf.' I'm sure people see things every day, and that's fine, but my friend today was spooked. Apparently, this happened two years ago and he told me his life has not been the same since.

Then, a few days later, I read this:

I have to admit I do feel a little strange about sharing this story from yesterday. Honestly, I've been trying to talk myself out of believing anything this friend of mine told me and how worked up he got over it. Please know, I didn't do this to spin a yarn that would take on a life of its own, or am trying to make a story out of this or anything of the sort. The only reason I shared it was that after hearing this wild tale, I googled it and found Lon's article, which pretty much floored my friend and pretty much knocked him out of his chair. There were just a few eerie similarities and the fact that it took place on the Muskie just made it all the more bizarre. I keep trying to envision whatever it is that this friend of mine saw. To be truthful, one second I find it to be silly rubbish and then the next second when I close my eyes and really envision what he outlined for me I find it remarkably unnerving. As always, people believe what they want to believe and I'm still not quite sure if I really believe this, but just to reiterate this friend of mine was downright spooked, and the fact that he admitted the embarrassing fact that he wet himself upon seeing this and all the tears mixed into yesterday's tale, he must've seen something, whatever it was.

 

NOTE: This eventually led to a few other unexplained sightings along the river. The producers of 'Monsters & Mysteries in America' contacted me about the incidents. Subsequently, an episode was produced and presented during the show's 3rd season.

Reports of 50+ FOOT LONG ANACONDA Encountered on Black River, Florida

I have received two separate emails in the past several months in reference to a cryptid snake seen in Black Creek, which is south of Jacksonville, Florida in the area of Camp Chowenwaw Park.

The most descriptive email is below:

"Hello. I was not a witness to this event. It was from my friend who was visiting Florida in 2018. He was in a small canoe on Black Creek, not far from where it empties into the St. Johns River (south of Jacksonville, Florida). He was moving downstream in a shallow area. As he looked around he saw a head on the surface in the distance (about 30 yards away). It was an alligator but it wasn't looking at him.

Then suddenly a huge head launches at the alligator and wraps itself around it. It started suffocating the alligator, and he literally watched it swallow the alligator whole. The creature looked like an Anaconda except it was longer than 50 feet (He said about 50+ feet) and very thick.

He said that it happened so quickly that he barely had time to react and paddle away from the carnage. He has not gone back to the area since. No one believes him. He studied it more and now he thinks it was a Titanoboa cerrejonensis (The longest snake ever found is this species. It existed in the Paleocene Epoch). Do you believe that this is possible?” CJ

The other email that I received was brief but mentioned a similar huge dark mottled snake seen in the Black River in the area of Camp Chowenwaw Park.

There is a massive invasive snake problem (mostly Southeast Asian Python species) throughout Florida, mostly in the Everglades. But as far as a relic Anaconda species inhabiting a specific location, this is unique.

CRYPTID Encounter Reports From Eyewitnesses - Bigfoot, Werewolf, Massive Owl, and Skunk Ape

The following brief cryptid reports and accounts were forwarded to me over the past several weeks. I figured that I would gather and post them all together. 

"I saw a Bigfoot cross a dirt road in northern Michigan on Sunday, May 23rd, 2021 at 3 PM in broad daylight in the Manistee National Forest. it was 8 feet tall, with light grey fur, and extremely thin. It was crouched down on all 4's then stood straight up and crossed the road in 3 huge steps into the pine woods and disappeared. I had 6 kids with me who witnessed also. Long arms, hands swung below knees, slightly hunched forward, no visible ears, short neck. Our hunting buddy also witnessed one walking through the woods on the opening day of gun hunting. We've heard wood knocks and banging on our cabin at night. Lots of activity in Michigan!" KL

"My husband saw this werewolf when was 9 years old and standing by the kitchen sink playing around with a tape recorder. This huge creature approached the kitchen window in the darkness, My husband said it was covered in black fur stood about 8 feet tall and he could see its eyes, teeth and it had a snout just like a wolf's and what looked like hands but with black sharp nails or claws. He screamed and crawled across the kitchen floor in terror. He managed to lock the back door and left the house, hours later when he returned with his parents he noticed that the tape recorder had been recording everything and he played it back on the tape. You could hear him scream and a deep growl and the claws on the glass window. This happened in Bracknell, Berkshire in the UK back in the 1960s and it still affects him today." M

"I've seen a Bigfoot on the bank of the Mississippi River that looked just like Patty, so I know they exist. Also, when I was a boy about 10 back in 1957 deer hunting with my great uncle in the Cache River Bottoms near Cotton Plant, Arkansas. We came upon an area in the woods that looked like a small tornado had torn up about 40 yards long and 10 ft. wide trees pulled up by the roots and many just twisted. My great uncle who had seen these creatures many times as he literally lived in the woods-said to me looked like a Booger had a hissy fit. He had always warned me about these creatures, telling me to never go out in the woods by myself because those Boogers would Kidnap children. So I always had those Boogers in the back of my mind." "I'm positive Bigfoot is real. I personally have seen one, in Oregon, over by the Hood River. It was in the mid-90s. I did report it. This was before cell phones. Growing up in Oregon and camping in the Blues, Cascades, and coastal mountains, I have heard and smelled them as well. You will never forget the experience. The smell made me quite sick to my stomach and the scream will make the hair on your head stand up. I have been fascinated by them all my life." LK

"One of the best things about camping out and looking for signs of Bigfoot is being with friends and family and being with other people who know for a fact that they are real. I never believed in them until I saw one for myself back in 2013. It definitely rocks your world and makes you realize you're not the biggest or smartest thing In the woods. To tell you the truth it really messed me up for a while. Since learning the truth it took me about a year to get over the shock and bad dreams. Then we moved to the area where I’d seen my first one and learned they either live very close or travel passed this area very often. 

Since 2014 I’ve seen one 2 more times. 3 times in all. But hearing them is a different matter because we hear them almost every week during summer and fall. Not so much in spring and never in winter. They might move during the winter. The tree knocking, screaming, whooping, and chatter are heard very often (except in winter) 

When going into their known area they have several times made their smell very well known. I believe they release the smell when they want you to go away. Smells like a dog with mange. It's really bad. Anyone who’s worked around stray dogs, or at the humane society has smelled dogs with the mange. You can’t forget that smell." TH

“So a few months ago, here in Guthrie, Oklahoma, I was laying in bed at around 3 AM when my dogs started barking and growling at my front door. I could hear an incredibly loud hooting. I went to the window to investigate, and standing in the yard was this massive white owl. It didn't look normal and was huge as it hooted at me 3 more times and flew away. This thing's wingspan was ridiculous! Scared me but I went back to sleep and had some dreams about it.

Fast forward to the next day when my daughter (9 years old) came home from her dad's and immediately informed me that she saw a white owl with a weird face staring at her through the window of her bedroom around midnight that same night (I never told her to this day what I had seen). There is nowhere for any type of bird to perch outside her window. I'm just a little curious about your opinion.” KA

"I live in southwest Florida. I saw what we call a Skunk Ape up close. My sister and I both saw it. Coming home from our Grandmother's house one evening taking a shortcut through the woods, trying to beat the dark. This was back in 1977. I was 8 years old at the time. We were riding our bicycles, riding as fast as we could when it stepped out on the trail in front of us. I slid down about 10 feet in front of it. This thing was massive! I looked at it and it was looking at me. I jumped up and took off running. 45 years later, my sister and I both still tell the same story about what we saw. Whether or not people believe it, I don't care." CH

"the Louisiana swamps is the place to find Bigfoot. I've hunted and fished those lands for 42 years. I'm 51 now and 35 years ago, I walked up on a Sasquatch kneeling down drinking water. For 36 years I've wanted, so badly, to have that experience again but it has never happened. While I only saw the one I walked up on there is no doubt in my mind there were many more around him. On my (as fast as I could go) way out tree knocking started up and at the time I didn't know what it was but through the years I've come to understand it was tree knocks." K
