There Was A WEREWOLF IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD!

An anonymous woman called in late to the Midnight in the Desert with Art Bell show to tell of a weird encounter she had 25 years earlier. Cryptid canine researcher Linda Godfrey was the guest.

“I have been wanting to tell you guys (Linda Godfrey and Art Bell) this story that happened about 25 years ago with my children. My children would cross the road to go up to this guy's driveway and play all the time. Well, one evening they went running into the house. They said 'Mom we heard a werewolf.' I thought, well, now, they heard this weird dog, you know. I went back outside and I could hear it too and it wasn't like a regular dog, it was very very odd. Well, I didn't know what to think about it and I was a typical housewife, cooking and taking care of the stuff and so I went back in the house and it was just when the sun was going down when this happened and I lived in a kind of in the woods area. But this guy, like I said, had a big long concrete driveway that my kids would play on.

Well, that evening and, I want you to know, God will strike me dead, it is the truth – we had a big picture window in the house and that guy was a doctor that lived up on this hill and he would come home late in the night. Well, I heard a strange sound and I went to that picture window and I looked out into my yard. I could see the car lights and him coming up the road and right there – I always thought it was a joke, werewolves were a joke – and I saw this thing that had a huge back, and when it turned its head around. It had a snout at least a foot and a half long on it. Its body was huge. I never... I had never seen anything like that. Then you mentioned about UFOs (Linda Godfrey earlier talked about a werewolf encounter involving a UFO). There were some weird lights that we had seen just before I saw this. It scared me so bad that I ran into the back room and locked the door.

(Art asked to describe the sound) Well, sort of like a weird dog screaming, you know, sort of like that, I'm not really sure exactly how to describe it. (Linda asked how the doctor was involved) It was just outside when he came in – he came home late in the evening because he was like an emergency room doctor and he worked late and I had been staying up a little bit later. I guess this was close to midnight. maybe around that time and I never expected anything. I just thought here he came but just the way the car drove in the way the lights came into my yard I did not see any hands or arms but I did see, it move its body and it had huge shoulders. I had never seen anything like that in my life. It had to be at least 6 feet tall maybe, but its back was so large when it turned its head.

Now I want you to know, that I thought all that stuff was a joke and I never believed in anything like werewolves because I grew up – I’m an older lady and I watched all those horror films years ago. I thought all that stuff was a joke but when I saw that, that freaked me so much.”

Backpacker Encounters FOUL-SMELLING SASQUATCH Near Fuller Lake, Pennsylvania

An Appalachian Range backpacker was camped near Fuller Lake, PA. While fishing in a creek nearby he encountered a reddish-haired, foul-odored Sasquatch walking through the woods and field.

“Last May 2022 me and a few friends went backpacking in the Appalachian Range of Pennsylvania. We started our trip in George Washington National Forest, Virginia, and eventually ended in Sussex County, New Jersey. Most of the hike was along the Appalachian Trail.

We had set up camp in the early afternoon in Pine Grove Furnace State Park near Fuller Lake. We each brought weapons for protection against bears or whatever may have shown up

Anyway, as it got closer to the evening at around 5 pm, I was fishing in a creek about a quarter mile away from camp and I started to smell something bad. I couldn't describe the odor, it was just bad. I heard some rustling in the bushes about 200 yards away. It was quite clear that it was footsteps from the sound. Almost thinking that it was one of my friends, I realized that they were south of me, so I started to panic. Whatever it was was getting closer to my fishing spot and the smell started getting stronger. My fishing pole was in my left hand and my right hand was on my gun as I was getting ready to unholster it. I couldn't get over the smell, but at the same time, I was worried about my life.

I kept my eyes focused in the direction of the loud footsteps. I can see a big open area kind of like a pasture about 50 yards away which is where the footsteps are coming from. I see what I think is a man in a possible reddish brown ghillie suit walking behind the trees on the edge of the open area, but the problem is that it was about 2 or 3 feet taller than me as I'm only 6'2, which was unbelievable. None of my friends are close to my height, but that thing that I saw was built. I can see the muscle movement of its legs. I'm no expert on Sasquatch, but I do know what I saw was no bear as it was walking on two legs (not in any way that I've seen). Both the legs and the arms are primitive and built like an oversized gorilla. The thing probably weighed about 900 pounds.

It ended up vanishing as it went to my right in the deeper woods, but after the footsteps stopped, I heard what sounded like chatter (kind of like some sort of native Indian language). After the chatter stopped, the footsteps started up again, but it was footsteps going in one direction and another sound of footsteps going in the opposite direction.

I never told my friends about the experience because I didn't want them to think that I was crazy. Some people might be skeptical about this, but I know what I saw and heard wasn't in the ordinary.” S

AVENGING ENTITY ATTACK After Squirrel Hunting Incident?

A teen is squirrel hunting when, suddenly, a huge squirrel charges at him. Later, at home, he encounters an unknown entity in his bedroom. Was it an avenging spirit?

I received this bizarre account:

“When I was 16 my dad took me hunting for the first time. It was the middle of the day so I decided to hunt small game. Found a good spot on a steep hill where a tree had fallen over that made a perfect place to sit. I was there for about 45 minutes and had probably 8 squirrels and one I just clipped and was screaming in a lot of pain. To this day I still feel bad about it.

The next thing I knew I was being charged by this huge squirrel. It had this crazy hair and was twice the size running full steam on the log I was sitting on. I took 5 panic-filled shots that thought would be my last when little Rambo didn’t flinch once and just jumped over my head off into the woods. I gathered my kills and got the hell out there.

When I got back to camp, I told my dad and he just laughed. Thinking back it was pretty funny. Not sure if this is related or not but as a kid I always had trouble sleeping and even as an adult. Anyway a couple weeks after our hunting trip, I couldn’t sleep. My room was downstairs, and everyone else was upstairs. So on this night, I decided to try and sleep on the floor. I had a big closet that was to the left of the room and right next to where I was lying down. It didn’t have a door. It was actually under the stairs. So I was lying on my right side facing the closet just about to fall asleep when something grabbed my right forearm! So I start screaming, trying to get this thing off me! It scared me even more when I started to feel this thing's features. It had a huge head and was wrinkled with a pointed nose it was wearing clothes and was 3 feet tall. Now, I was punching and doing everything I could but it wouldn’t let go. Its hand covered half of my arm. The first light I tried to turn on wouldn’t so I lunged over for the closet light. It, thank god, worked and it was gone just like that?

This is not a story and just wondering if anyone has info or a thought? Could it have been the squirrel shape-shifter protecting his woods who followed me home to give me a good scare? Man, only god knows. Thanks.” DD

Wisconsin National Guardsman Encounters TALL, SKINNY BEING Near Ft. McCoy

A Wisconsin National Guardsman, stationed at Ft.McCoy, has a frightening encounter with an unknown tall, skinny being during a night operation. What was it?

The following account was forwarded to me:

"Hi. I want to share an experience I had while training with my National Guard unit at Ft.McCoy, Wisconsin. I was attached to a unit in my prospective MOS while in the program. I don't really want to give specifics on my service, as the community is small enough to identify me to my peers.

In 2014 my platoon decided to conduct nighttime land navigation at Ft.McCoy from 2030 to 0030. While the Army is typically all about buddy pairs, Night Land Nav is one of the few cases we can do things solo if we so choose. Having done Night Land Nav plenty before I step off alone, compass, map, and headlamp in hand.

For those who do not know; land navigation involves seeking out markers on a course by plotting their coordinates on a map and moving there via terrain reference and compass. At night this is typically done without light as much as possible. When light is used it is red. This minimizes damage to night vision. Ostensibly, these methods also keep you concealed in a tactical environment when employed with noise discipline.

I bring this up so you can understand a few things about my circumstances. I was moving through the woods while making a token effort to be hard to spot/hear. The woodland I was in was part of a larger forest system but was frequently traveled. That night we had some 15-ish soldiers clomping around. My illumination was a togglable headlamp but was toggled to be red when turned on. To cycle to white light I have to turn it off twice.

My assigned points will take me to the other side of the course and back. A good hour and a half of walking as the crow flies. They're more or less in a straight line so I estimate two and a half hours out and back. I know if I come back too early I might be given another set of points. So I resolve to walk out, take a break for an hour then mosey on back.

The first half of this goes as planned, I get my points without much trouble and wind up sitting on a hillside at around 10 at night. It's cloudy, but the moon is full. I can see well when the sky is clear, and poorly when it's not. Occasionally, I see a red light bobbing in the distance below me. Once a pair of platoon members pass down the hill from me, using white light to try to read their map. I startle them when I ask if they need help.

At the end of my break, there's no more motion in my area. Most people had likely already walked out and back, or they were too lost and took the handrailing road home. I'm feeling pretty at one with my surroundings, having sat in the same spot eating stale Skittles for a good long while. Owls hoot, trees sway, all is well.

I trot down my hill and step through some brush. I'm in a clearing where prairie intersects forest. There are some dead trees in the area, one of them is split halfway up. At the top (~ 15 feet) I can make out a head and shoulders silhouetted against the clouds backlit by the moon. I walk up to ask how they got up there (and if they're stuck) when the shadow twitches and I get the impression it's turned toward me. I stand there looking at it, and it's maybe looking at me.

The situation feels off, but I'm not going to let a battle buddy punk me. I ask if they need a hand. Midsentence, the moonlight comes back. The thing on the tall stump is not a soldier.

This moonlight glimpse is the best look I get at the thing. It looks like a stretched-out bald person. Its long arms are clutching the stump. I can't make out the face, but it looks pinched. By that I mean I couldn't see its eyes or mouth like they were small and in the middle of the head. It's skinny like it hasn't eaten, but it's tall and obviously strong to have made such a vertical climb.

It was definitely facing me, it probably was the whole time I was in the clearing. Maybe since I came down the hill. Maybe my speech startled it.

I swear loudly. It rapidly scurries down the trunk. I flick on my red light and catch it on all fours moving toward the brush line in the direction I'm heading. Automatically, I keep toggling the lamp to be in white light. That means it goes off, then to flashing red. In the flash, I see the thing at the woodline, but I think it's flipped around and is backing in (probably to keep eyes on me). In the few seconds it takes for me to get to the white light it's gone.

I scan the treeline which is silent. When it moved there was a scraping noise, plus the woodland brush is dense. If it was still running I would hear it. I reason that it must have stopped. It must still be watching me. I fumble out my knife and keep looking around the woods in front of me. After ages, I start inching along a perpendicular path to my initial route of travel, an angle that will link me up with the hardball road that runs up and down the side of the course. Once on the road, I can take it back to where my platoon is parked.

My major problem is that the road is ten minutes of walking away from my current position, mostly woodland. That can't be helped, I have to get out of the clearing first. My progress on that front is painfully slow. I'm fighting my natural urge to freeze in place like a deer in the headlights.

After sidestepping a good 10 meters I hear a corresponding rustling and think I see movement. It's enough to get me to turn and bolt, right into a downed log which trips me. I scramble up to my feet and look back to the woodline where there is an audible commotion. I glimpse a leg and butt moving back into the woods. At this point, I'm done with the whole situation, but don't want to run again. I start power walking to the road, turning to look as much as I can while seeing what the thing is doing.

Over the movement of my own kit, I can hear it moving alongside me, parallel. As I near the end of the clearing I think I hear it picking up pace as if to cut me off. I make the decision to sprint. When I enter the woods my path is clear, but I think I can hear it in my periphery. I don't stop, and run hard until I hit the paved road. I bite it hard a few times along the way but recover with a frantic speed I cannot consciously replicate.

Once on the road, I run perpendicular to the forest until I don't think I hear it anymore. I'm winded from my break-out run. From the middle of the road have good visibility and decide to walk to catch my breath.

It's quiet for a while. Then I heard a branch move around thirty feet in the air from the woods I had just fled. I snap my gaze up and see a pale ovular face, half in shadow peeking at me from around a trunk. I take off again. After way too long I make it back to the headlights of our LMTVs. It's 1215.

"What happened cadet, did you get lost out there?" "You're covered in mud did you fall down?" "Why are you out of breath?"

"I got lost on my way back." "Yeah, I rolled down Pike's Peak." "I ran to get back in time."

"LOL. Cadet was lost."

I knew better than to claim I saw a monster. Already my reaction had left me feeling foolish.

In the years since drilling at FMC, I have never experienced anything like that again. McCoy does not have a history of disappearances, as far as I know, neither do the two closest towns (Sparta and Tomah). I've done Night Land Nav alone a few times since without issue. This is less from courage, and more from me deciding I must have misinterpreted a situation. Thanks for reading." T

BLACK-EYED ELDERLY MAN Freaks Outs Washington D.C. Cashier!

A retail cashier is checking out an elderly couple when she notices the man's black eyes. Instantly, everything goes quiet, and she has a visceral reaction to what she is witnessing.

I received the following account:

"Hello. Thanks for reading my story. I work retail in Washington D.C. I’m checking this sweet old couple out at the register. Having a wholehearted typical retail worker speaking to customer conversation and then BOOM! I look into the husband's eyes for the first time. This man has jet-black eyes. The store goes silent. No one’s speaking. I’m overcome with an overwhelming feeling of dread. I wasn’t exactly terrified, I was more entranced. Again the whole store is DEAD silent. It’s as if I’ve been gripped from my reality and brought into this old man’s dimension.

I wish I could tell you I looked at my surroundings to see why everyone went quiet but I was just so overcome with a plethora of emotions staring into this man’s completely black eyes that I just physically couldn’t look away. And then just like that, the man leaves with his wife. I hand him his receipt, and he takes his things and leaves. I was out of breath. I had to take my break early. I’m ashamed to admit I was almost ready to cry. I’ve literally never been through ANYTHING and I mean ANYTHING like that.

I did some research when I got home and I found out a lot about black-eyed children. What was strange about this situation was that the man had to be in his late 70s. What could this mean? It’s just so hard to imagine a man casually wearing black contact lenses. And these weren’t enlarged pupils. There was not an ounce of white in his eyeballs. And that feeling of dread, the silent store, and the time that seemed to go on forever. This had to be an encounter. I KNOW what I saw. And I promise you all this story is 100% true. I’m worried no one will believe me." J

Did the HAIRY MAN In My Woods Carry Me Home?

A lifetime resident of rural southwest Virginia believes that the 'hairy man' in his woods carried him to his home after he tripped in the woods and severely hurt his knee. What do you think?

I received this interesting narrative:

"Hello, Sir. My name is Fred. I've got a story that may be hard to believe, but I avow to you that it is completely true.

I have lived on the same property in Smyth County, Virginia all my 68 years and I have seen a lot of strange things, though I believe all were natural. But there is one thing in my woods that I have never been able to explain.

The first time I saw it, I was 16 or so and squirrel hunting in the late afternoon. I was sitting on a large rock watching a den hole in a large hickory tree, when I noticed a hairy man running in the hollow below me. It was covered top to bottom with short reddish-brown hair. The hair on its head and face was very long. I think it was around 7 feet tall. It made a hell of a racket moving through brush, crashing branches, and grunting up a storm. It then turned around and did the same thing on its way back. I stood up and quickly made my way home. I never said anything to my folks about what I saw.

That's the last I had seen of this thing until this past October 2023.

I was dragging old tree branches down into the woods when I stumbled on a tree root. I twisted my knee badly and couldn't stand on it. I lay on the ground in pain, trying to figure out what I was going to do. Then all of a sudden, I wake up on the porch bench. It's totally dark. I reach over and turn on the porch light. How did I get here? Then I noticed mud on my clothes and mud on the porch floor. There was also a pile of hand-sized creek pebbles on the porch table. I had seen these piles of pebbles throughout the woods for as long as I could remember. That's when I realized that the hairy man in the woods must have brought me home. I wondered if it was the same hairy man I saw when I was a boy.

That's the only explanation I can come up with. I don't have any neighbors since I'm living on the ridge. May I see it again one day?" Fred

NOTE: I emailed Fred and he agreed to me posting his story. Smyth County is located in southwest Virginia. I asked him if he thought this was a Bigfoot. He said, 'Maybe...but never heard of one around here.' I can attest that southwest Virginia has many reports of Bigfoot and other cryptids. Lon

I Think That THEY Did Something to Me!

An experiencer has been having 'dreams' that seem to be abduction scenarios. He also believes that these alien captors have manipulated him physically and mentally.

I received the following account:

"I live in Ten Mile, Tennessee. One night, about 4 months ago, I was sleeping on a couch. I went into a state of a dream. I dreamed I was levitated to a spaceship that looked like the Millennium Falcon somewhat. I could see the ship and an aperture like a camera opened.

I was laid on a cold metal slab and everything went dark. I woke up and had a fever and burn holes in my right rib cage. The burns looked like cigarette burns but there were 7 burns arranged like an x with 2 at the top and two on the sides perfectly symmetrical.

I was very sick for about 2 weeks. It seemed that they took something from my mind. I was somewhat deranged for months. Then I began reading minds. And others could read my mind. I think they implanted an alien source soul if you will to think things to change certain elements of things going on on earth and people especially people in power of events such as presidents, dictators, and military rulers. It rotted out almost all my teeth and created loud star sounds and loud roars that can even alter weather patterns like God if you will. They keep exchanging my personality with various people on TV.

I know this sounds crazy but I was a 99th percentile genius in high school and am now a Geodesic engineer and have made designs to change the planet's energy system. I now go into living dreams at night. They tell me that my IQ goes to 200 as I live in the dream. I have spirits to attend to me 24/7. It is so weird. I was only an electrician, motorcycle mechanic, and a mechanical engineering student.

I sometimes can still use telepathy to communicate with people and they freak out. I think they did something to me and used me to reprogram certain other people and I don't know if it will stop. I think that I need help." M

Possible BIGFOOT or SUPERNATURAL BEING Leaving Rocks on WV Resident's Patio Table

A Mingo County, West Virginia resident wrote me about rocks being left on his patio table since he moved in 3 months ago. His motion-sensor camera is not picking up any movement.

I received the following account:

"Hi, Lon. I moved to Mingo County, West Virginia 3 months ago. I will say that I don't live in a town - I kind of like to live quietly and away from people. That's why I'm writing you after I found your website.

My property is surrounded by forests and a variety of wildlife, which I enjoy. But I've been experiencing something quite unusual the past several weeks. I'm hoping you can tell me what's going on.

I first noticed rocks and pebbles on my patio table. I would remove them, but the next day there were more. This occurred 3 times on consecutive nights, so I decided to place a motion detection cam directed toward the table.

Nothing happened for a few days, but then one morning there were about 20 baseball-sized rocks on the table. I immediately checked the cam, but the only thing that triggered it was a raccoon that made a visit. It did look like the rocks were on the table by that time (3:35am).

I still set up the cam, but nothing triggers it other than a few small animals - but the rocks continue to show up.

This is not the only unusual activity I am having - and I'm wondering if there is a connection with the rocks on the table.

I was sitting on the patio one evening, trying to read. But I was hearing odd noises coming from the woods, in the direction of a stand of huckleberry bushes. I figured it was just small animals or birds, but then it started to sound like giggling children. I watched for a while until it became too dark. But I was curious, so I continued to listen.

After about an hour, I suppose it was 9:30 pm or so, I witnessed 4 orbs quickly rising from the bushes and soar into the woods. The orbs were bright white and about 10" in diameter - it was quite a sight and I was amazed. I stayed outside for another hour but didn't notice anything else.

If you could contact me, I'd like to discuss this with you." JK

NOTE: I received this account last week and I finally got in contact with the witness last night. The witness is an elderly man, quite open-minded but concerned about his privacy.

As far as the activity, I really have no explanation for him. The rocks showing up on the table remind me of other reported Bigfoot activity. The fact that nothing was captured on the camera is a bit strange. I suppose it is possible that the cam was malfunctioning. I mentioned this to the witness and he had thought early on that this may be the case.

The orbs are another matter. This doesn't seem to be spirit energy, simply because the orbs seemed to coordinate the movement together. Could these have been supernatural beings? Well, that's the big question.

The witness has decided to set up other motion detection cams. If he captures any strange activity, he promises to contact me. Lon

GIANT BAT-WINGED MAN Tells Teen Boy 'I'M YOUR FATHER'

A teen boy encounters a giant bat-shaped man in his bedroom. During the 2nd encounter, the being tells the boy that he is his real father. His mother refused to confirm or deny the claim.

I received the following account:

"I grew up in the Finger Lakes Region of New York. I had an encounter when I was 13 years old while lying in my bed and by my window. The window suddenly opened and this terrifying creature crawled in. I immediately hid under my blanket, held my breath, and urinated on the bed because I was so afraid.

I slowly looked over the blanket and saw this giant bat-shaped man with claws on each foot. He had large black-membraned wings wrapped around him. The head was all black and it was shiny, almost illuminated with an aura around it. I quickly went under my covers and stayed there.

Nothing happened, I didn't hear anything. I immediately told my mother how sorry I was for the bed and she insisted that it was my imagination. She did place a night light near my bed.

A few nights later, I walked into my bedroom after visiting the bathroom. I walked into the room and the same giant bat-shaped man was standing on my bed. I tried to scream but couldn't utter a word. He hopped off the bed, bent down, and looked at me directly into my eyes. I heard a voice, but it was only in my head. It was a male voice that said, "Don't fear me. I am your father." I had never met my father. He had died before I was born.

I must have passed out because I woke up in the morning, lying on the bedroom floor. I got up and ran to my mother's bedroom. She wasn't there. I was scared. Did the bat-shaped man take her? She eventually came home about 30 minutes later, after going to the grocery store.

I told her what had happened the night before. She looked shocked but didn't say a word. I asked if the bat-shaped man was my father. She still would not give me an answer. In fact, she never said anything else about it.

My mother passed away when I was 16 years old. She committed suicide. I never got an answer to my question. I'm 43 now with my own family. I wonder if I will ever learn the truth. The bat-shaped man never returned.” S

Nightmarish ALIEN ENCOUNTER! Experiencer Meets His HYBRID DAUGHTER!

A bizarre alien encounter. An experiencer recalls a craft landing near his home and observes a shadow being and a little girl exit. What happens next is terrifying and profound!

The following account was forwarded to me by my friends Kyle & Cam at Expanded Perspectives:

"February 25th 2016, It was a normal day and the sun was going down. I was home one night, and both my mother and stepfather were home too. I assumed they were asleep. I let the dog in the backyard. I noticed it was a little warmer than usual out. Also, it was a pretty clear sky, so I went out back to stargaze. While I was outside I felt something in the air. Some sort of static buzz, I felt it in my stomach and it felt like my bones were vibrating. I followed the feeling and looked over the fence to see where it was coming from. I couldn’t believe my eyes, it was a triangular UFO craft landing on the street in front of my house. I couldn’t tell if the craft had legs or not. It had orange, purple, blue, green, red, and white lights on it.

I remember thinking that it was weird nobody on my street was seeing it. I saw a door open on the craft that formed a ramp that touched the street. Baffled and babbling I went inside and as I rushed to the kitchen sink I said to myself, “It’s not real you’re just crazy. It’s not real you’re just crazy.”. I washed my face with some cold water and looked out of the window above the kitchen sink. I saw a little girl in an old-school pink dress with blond hair. I estimated her age at about 5 to 7 years old and she was holding the hand of a shadow person leaving the craft with her. I couldn’t see any details of the silhouette she was holding the hand off or inside the craft due to the bright white light. I thought it was weird how I could see the details of the girl but not the other thing. As I saw this, I heard a little girl's voice say “ Luke! Come with me! Daddy! It’s so good to see you Daddy! Don’t you want to come with me?” But it was said inside my mind. I went from baffled and babbling to terrified and panicked to the highest degree! I left the kitchen, ran slash, and stumbled into the living room. The voice of the little girl died down. I began wondering if I was having a nightmare. I looked at the time, it was 10:33. I then thought to myself, “If I was dreaming, how could I possibly know the time?”

I felt an approaching presence.

I slowly turned around and saw a silhouette of the shadow-type man at the front door. If you could call that thing a man. I could see it through the foggy glass of the front door that still had Valentine’s Day decorations on it. It had long spidery fingers that it deliberately flaunted. As if it knew what I was seeing through the mind. It began to laugh but not out loud, in my head. As it did I saw its mouth open and close like when a cartoon character laughs. I was shaking and trembling. I immediately tried to plan a route to my mom’s room but I decided on a shortcut that would lead me through the fireplace to the left of me and into my mom and stepdad’s room. I ran to the double-sided fireplace. And as I started crawling on my hands and knees I heard it tell me “You won’t escape, we’ve taken you many times before and there is nothing you can do.” I looked at my ash-covered arms as I tried to continue to crawl through the fireplace. I looked into my mom’s room. My mother and stepfather were both lying in bed on their backs but with their heads facing me. Their eyes were screaming. It was like they both were having sleep paralysis. The dark voice said, “They can’t help you, they are frozen.”

Then I heard the buzzing in the air turn into rumbling and I heard a chant that sounded like the chant of a dead language, “Zim Ma Bu Ea it Er.” The chant was very repetitive, and the same syllables were chanted over and over. As the rumble intensified a white light was washing over everything. I tried to move but as It grew stronger, I grew weaker. It became so loud and so bright I was blind and deaf, overloaded by too much light and too much sound. Everything went white. I woke up in what seemed like a half-second later. Face down and tongue out on my bed, shoes on and fully clothed. My boots were on my pillow, almost as if whoever took me didn’t know that it was for my head so they placed me on my bed backwards and face down. I sat up in shock. I ran into the bathroom to check on myself in the mirror. I opened my mouth and saw that my tongue was cracked, dehydrated, and dry. It was like a dead man’s decaying tongue. I could peel pieces of skin off it, it was so dry. I washed my mouth with water until it was hydrated enough for me to talk. I remember, sitting there in front of the mirror for a second, thinking about what happened. I remember thinking how do I explain something like this. I broke down and began crying hysterically.

What made it worse was if that little girl was my daughter, would I ever see her again? Would I ever get to know her? Is she safe? Is she okay? I don’t even know her name. How do I find closure in knowing a daughter I never knew I had is out there without me, and with whatever took me. How do I move on from knowing that I’ll never get to see her grow up? How do I cope knowing I can’t reach her, and I can’t help her? I practically fell downstairs to tell my mom and stepdad what happened.

I knocked on their door and my stepdad answered. I was babbling, shaking, and crying the story out of my mouth. But it made no difference because my stepdad said “Last night? I don’t know what you’re talking about.” He closed the door. I sat on the couch in the living room and quietly cried as I questioned my sanity. It was 5:55 am."
