Birkdale Craft Gift & Tabletop Fayre

Our popular fayre is back again at St Peter's Parish Hall in Birkdale, this Saturday, 16th November. 

Doors are opened to our visitors from 10.30am to 2.00pm.Once again with free public admission.

We have some wonderful craft and gift sellers, plus a selection of  preloved (car boot style) items.

Yesterday's (9 November) indoor car boot sale at Liverpool Road Methodist Church (Red Brick) Hall in Birkdale was a roaring success. 

The crowds flocked in to discover bargains galore and we even had the lovely goats from our friends at  Woodlands Animal Sanctuary for company. 
Three rooms well stocked with hidden treasures kept the enthusiastic visitors busily hunting for special gifts all afternoon.

End of the line for two Merseyrail trains

 


Railway devotees flocked to Southport train station last Sunday (3 November) afternoon to say farewell to two iconic 507 trains.

The pair of Merseyrail's 507 units made to journey from Southport to Hunts Cross and back on Sunday to mark the end of their service on the track.

We have a few events coming up, all perfect for finding those early special and unique Yuletide gifts. 

This coming Saturday 9th November we are at Liverpool Road Methodist Church, Liverpool Road, Birkdale, Southport PR8 4PD for our popular indoor car boot. 

We have two fundraisers this weekend. Woodland's Animal Rescue will be back with their lovely goats and Southport Community Cupboard.

Labour's appalling war against elderly people in the UK continues. Silver voices mention a few pertinent points in the recent biased budget as follows. 

THE BUDGET:  

Failed to mention the cruel and crude decision to limit the winter fuel payment to those on pension credit, and introduced no mitigating measures to lessen the harm to older people on modest incomes this winter

Jason is UK Horticultural Young Champion - updated!

 

To rapturous applause, Ainsdale man Jason Regan was presented with the Young Community Champion UK accolade in the Britain in Bloom RHS UK Finals yesterday.

BBC's 'The One Show' was filming therein at the crowded Manchester event. This was in effect the country’s Horticultural Oscars.

Moreover, the entire hard-working Ainsdale in Bloom team were presented with a Silver Gilt award for their noble community efforts.

RHS Young Community Champion - will Jason strike gold for Ainsdale?

Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Britain in Bloom UK FinalsUK Decision Time!
On Monday 21st October a decision on the above will be made.
Representatives from Ainsdale will be at the Manchester United Football Stadium to hear the result on how Ainsdale is judged in the Town category and how our Young Bloomer is judged within the UK Finals.
Ainsdale has already been judged by the RHS North West in Bloom as the Best Town in the North West.

Goats and bargains may seem like unlikely bedfellows, yet this was exactly what visitors discovered at the Birkdale event today.

The weather was unkind at times with hailstones and blustery winds, but it was warm and welcoming for the crowds inside.
