Snippet Sunday #4: Feel the Heat
Less than two months to the release of my debut, Feel the Heat, so I thought I’d feature a few excerpts from that in the coming weeks. In today’s snippet, celebrity chef Jack Kilroy and photographer Lili DeLuca are getting along quite well in a local watering hole when Jack hesitates, giving the impression that maybe he isn’t as interested in Lili as she is in him. Lili says she’ll just have to make do with Jack’s sexy French sous chef instead, so she’s moved off to find him…
Jack followed tha...

Snippet Sunday #3: All Fired Up
It’s SnippetSundaytime! Taking up where Six Sentence Sunday left off, Snippet Sunday gives authors a chance to share a few lines from their work in progress. I’ve also added in a couple of lines so it meets the guidelines for Weekend Writing Warriors, another great way for authors to share the love.
Shane, my delicious pastry chef hero in All Fired Up has just taken ice cool Cara out on a date, and surprise, it’s a line dancing class! Cara’s not doing so well:
She was hands down the most elegan...

Six Sentence Sunday #41: All Fired Up
Boo hoo, sixers… it’s the final Six Sentence Sunday! Well, it’s been a blast getting to know so many great writers and finding an outlet for my snippets. A check of my posts reveals I started contributing on January 22, 2012, so that makes it one year of sixes, off an on. Over the last year, I signed with an agent, sold my three-book series, Hot in the Kitchen to Grand Central Publishing, and found amazing beta readers among the SSS brethren-sisterhood. I’ll continue to visit the sites of wri...

Six Sentence Sunday #40: All Fired Up
Hey ho, sixers! This week, I thought I’d move into the head of my hero in All Fired Up to see how he feels about the events in Vegas. Here, Shane is playing a little mind game with Cara about what might have happened that night.
“What if we had sex?” The way he said it could be construed as past sex or the promise of it. The promise of can’t-walk-for-a-week good times between a man and a woman. “That wouldn’t make a difference?”
“But we didn’t.” Her brow creased in puzzlement and horror descend...

Cheesecake with Chocolate Ganache Topping
I know, I know, it’s the new year and you made all these resolutions to be good, but if you must indulge, this is the way to do it.
For the crust:
2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1 T sugar
6 T unsalted butter, melted
For the filling:

5 whole eggs, at room temperature
2 egg yolks, at room temperature
¼ cup sour cream
Zest of 2 lemons
1 ½ t vanilla extract
For the chocolate ganac...
