How Hot Can Cold Make You? The Seductive Powers of Chilly Stuff – Guest Post by Angela Quarles

Today, I’m featuring geek girl romance writer, Angela Quarles for my first guest author post! Angela writes cute and humorous romance, and always has great posts on her own blog about the writing process and her journey to publication. Her debut release novella,Beer and Groping in Las Vegas, is available at fine e-tailers everywhere. I’m hoping to make this a regular feature, so let me know if you want a spot to talk up your work. All I require is that you share a recipe! Take it away, Angela...

Six Sentence Sunday #39: All Fired Up

Greetings, sixers! ALL FIRED UP, the second in my Hot in the Kitchen series, is now in the hands of my agent and lovely beta readers. So exciting and nerve-wracking! Today, I’m finishing up Cara’s and Lili’s sisterly chat about what happened in Vegas. Last week, Cara was bemoaning the hand-holding quality of her previous dates. Today, she’s remembering the good stuff with Shane:

The hand holding hers that night had felt dry and safe. Occasionally, he’d let go to point at something outrageous l...

Six Sentence Sunday #38: All Fired Up

Morning, sixers! This week, I’m picking up right after I left off last time. Sneaky Cara’s trying to keep her Vegas shenanigans with Shane, the hot Irishman, a secret from her sister, but the word is out that there was a — shock! — hand-holding sighting on the Strip. Here’s her story:

“You know how it is with these rubes – he probably grew up in a peat bog without electricity so the Vegas lights blew his country-fried mind.”

Memories of Shane’s wide-eyed wonder burbled to the surface of her bra...

Six Sentence Sunday #37: All Fired Up

Happy New Year, sixers! I hope everyone had a nice, peaceful, productive holiday and are ready for great things in 2013. I just finished my first rewrite of All Fired Up, Book 2 of my Hot in the Kitchen series (releasing in August 2013, now available to add in Goodreads), and will be working on the final edit over the next couple of weeks before I send it out to beta readers. If anyone is interested in beta reading, shoot me an email.

Today, we’re back with Cara, my heroine from All Fired Up w...

Six Sentence Sunday #36: Feel the Heat

Morning, sixers! Today we’re still with Jack and Lili from Feel the Heat, releasing from Grand Central in May 2013. Lili has just made it very clear to Jack that she’d be open to a little no strings fun, but he’s chosen to mull it over. As you do.

The silence drew between them like a piñata poised to be hacked down and he hesitated, knowing he was sending her mixed signals. When you devour a woman with every look, it’s understandable she might have certain expectations. He wanted her, but he a...

Who’d be a Turkey at Christmas?

It’s the most wonderful time of the year and one of my favorite things about the season is the music. Poor Mr. M. works in an environment that plays all holiday music all the time and it drives him nuts – if that were me, I’d probably be ready to punch an elf as well, but luckily it’s not. I still enjoy the Christmas tunes.

In Ireland, where I grew up, Christmas is actually a bigger deal than it is in the U.S. People save up their vacation time to take a couple of weeks off, the entire country...

Six Sentence Sunday #35: Feel the Heat

Hello, sixers! I didn’t get a chance to do the rounds last week but I finished my revisions for Feel the Heat and now await copy edits with bated breath. This week, I’ll definitely be popping in to see how the rest of you are doing this fine day. In today’s excerpt, we’ve moved on to a conversation between Lili and her cousin, Tad about Jack’s type–which Lili is adamant that she’s not despite Jack giving her the hot stare juju from the other side of the restaurant. Tad starts by professing hi...
