Six Sentence Sunday #34: Feel the Heat
Morning, sixers! Welcome to this week’s excerpt from my Spring 2013 debut, Feel the Heat. I have a cover (yum), so think on that while reading today’s six. My famous chef, Jack is bringing out the big guns–the killer smile that drives the housewives wild!
He moved into the cramped office, inching closer like a jungle cat stalking something small and defenseless. While she was in no way defenseless, and no one would ever have characterized her as small, there was still something rather daunting...

Six Sentence Sunday #33: Feel the Heat
Wotcha, sixers! I’m trying to get into the Brit-speak spirit of my hero, celebrity chef, Jack Kilroy from FEEL THE HEAT.Last week, we got to hear Lili’s first impressions on meeting Jack in the flesh. Now it’s Jack’s turn. Lili, in a Wonder Woman costume, has just attacked the poor man with a frying pan because she suspected him of burglarizing her restaurant.
That costume she was poured into had cinched her waist and boosted her breasts like some comic-book feat of structural engineering, cre...

I Need a Hero
My reading lately has consisted of a couple of new-to-me authors, all of whom take what I term a rather different approach to what comprises a hero. Not that the books I read don’t have heroes, but the guys have either come across as anti-hero or wish-I-knew-more-hero. I enjoyed all these books, but they did make me question my requirements in a hero. Have I used the word ‘hero’ enough yet?
The first book was Anne Stuart’s Ritual Sins. I’ve not read Anne Stuart before which is probably some so...

Six Sentence Sunday #31
Hey-ho, sixers! It’s been a while but I thought I’d crawl out of my editing lair and offer up a Sunday Six from HOT IN THE KITCHEN for your reading pleasure. I’ve been working with my editor, the lovely Lauren Plude at Grand Central on developmental edits and let me say: editing is hard, you guys! I’m digging deep and clarifying conflict and putting my characters’ thoughts on the page, all stuff I thought the reader would just, you know, figure out by herself. But boy, I’m loving how it’s all...

Six Sentence Sunday #30
Top of the mornin’ to you, sixers! It’s been a thrill ride for the last few weeks as my agent did her thing and got me my three-book deal! The first book in my Chefs of Chicago series, Hot in the Kitchen, will be released in Spring 2013 by Grand Central Publishing, with the lovely Lauren Plude editing. Needless to say, I’m over the moon and trying to enjoy the dark chocolate-induced sugar coma before the reality of deadlines sets in. Thanks to everyone who has read and commented on a SSS snip...

It’ll be published by Grand Central in Spring 2013 – that’s just six months away, people – and not only that, they acquired the other two books in the series as well. The Publisher’s Marketplace announcement is below with all the lovely details.

Six Sentence Sunday #29
Ciao, sixers! I’m going to jump right in with dishy Shane watching as the female guests get ready for that age-old wedding ritual: the throwing of the bouquet.
Jack nodded to the all-female congregation now forming in the middle of the ballroom. Shane had both catered and attended enough weddings to recognize the signs, and today, the ramp up was as quick as he’d ever seen. Gentle nudges swiftly turned to less-than-subtle jabs as the ladies jockeyed for position before the choreography skills...

Six Sentence Sunday #28
Howdy, sixers! Happy September to you all. Before we jump into my WIP,Turn Up the Heat, I’d love it if you could take a second to like my new Facebook pageand tell me what I can do to make it fabulous. Thanks, all.
Now it’s time to get inside the head of my hot Irish pastry chef, Shane. Just what is that man thinking? Here are the first lines in his POV:
If Shane was to look up “pissed off” in Roget’s, he had a feeling Cara DeLuca would be one of the synonyms.
He wished that didn’t turn him on so...
