The Witcher

My ultimate recommendation would be Locke & Key, but in these trying times everyone probably needs more to check out. In that case, The Witcher is a good option. More fantasy and less complex politics than Game of Thrones, but still with the same vibe and high production values. Definitely worth a watch.

I finally saw John Wick 3

I finally saw John Wick 3, and I have to say, it’s pretty good.
Not as good as the first, although that would be pretty difficult, but better than part 2 (which wasn’t bad), and actually felt more kinetic. It had a strong story, tons of action (more than any of the prequels), wasn’t too comical or tongue in cheek, and featured some great performances by Ian McShane, Halle Berry (who still looks hot at 53), and Lawrence Fishburne. Definitely worth the money.

Netflix all day!

Looking for a new series to bide the time while we wade through the apocalypse?
Check out Locke & Key.
Based off a graphic novel series written by Joe Hill (Steven King’s son) and illustrated by the very talented Gabriel Rodriguez, this first season is well filmed, well acted, and well written.
I would say it’s the best series since Stranger Things (better than season 2), and along the same vibe.

Back from the Dead!

Back in print after a brief hiatus, and bigger than ever, is the new issue of Splatterpunk! With a cover by your’s truly. I used Paul and Michael from the shop as models by the way…I think it says something about our work dynamic!

Indecision t-shirt art!

I did this cartoon for the t-shirt sold by the band Indecision on the tour for their album “Release the Cure”.
It’s based on a real action by our government. They went into a minority neighborhood (in California I think) in the ’50s, told them they were giving out a free vaccination, and shot them full of radiation. They did the same thing to a crew on a battleship. They weren’t sure what radiation did in those days, and used the unsuspecting citizens as guinea pigs.

The Downfall of Captain America

My last submission to Marvel comics, this was in about 1996 when I submitted to a round of comic companies (something i had been doing for years). Kitchen Sink liked my work and wanted to publish me but they went out of business. DC sent my stuff to their Paradox Press black and white division, who also agreed to publish me but also went out of business. Caliber Press and Eclipse had folded, and sent me letters saying so. Marvel comics, however, refused to look at my stuff unless I drew their characters. So this was the third page of a short I did for them feauting an utra-violent Captain America. Needless to say, it did not go well

I’m in Jersey’s Stepping Out Magazine

They asked me who I would induct into the Rock and Roll hall of fame and why. My nomination is the band Deadguy, and in a broke quip I try to explain why

Journal of the Gun Years

Richard Matheson is such a great writer, that even in a genre I’m not a huge fan of, I still enjoyed this story.
It’s kind of a gritty, personal take (for thematic reasons, it’s supposedly the diary of a famous gunslinger) on the old west.
More of a depressing, downward spiral that rings true to life rather than a thrilling, shoot out by the minute action story, this doesn’t compare to my favorite books by him, like “I am legend”, but it’s still an entertaining, and a fairly short, read.
