Making The Forever Saga: Flash a Bestseller

Note: This post was inspired by an amazing piece by Chuck Sambuchino

Writing a novel is not, at heart, an intimidating task. It is a bold step toward realizing dreams – both the real dreams of an author, and his/her dreamed-up tales put to paper. Any author’s greatest hope is that their stories captivate readers so much that they share those stories with others. Whether or not you’ve read Sean C. Sousa’s debut novel, The Forever Saga: Flash, you have a chance to not just be entertained, but to...

Sean’s Thoughts: Mexico, the Avengers, & More

roundup21913

Today, ForeverBlog switches gears a bit – instead of discussing one topic, I decided to share some recent events and thoughts in my life lately, and take a peek at what’s to come for the blog and The Forever Saga. I’ll post a Sean’s Thoughts blog every now and then, each sprinkled with my take on several different things. Think of it as a shotgun blast of fun! Read on…

A Roof For Her Head – If you read last Thursday’s blog entry, you’ll know that I recently returned from a house building trip...

Finding Myself in Mexico

mexico21413

Today’s blog is about a place that, for several moments in time, changed my life for the better in so many ways.

To the casual observer, it’s a magical land of sunshine, sparkling coasts, and vacation destinations. To the cynic, it’s rife with corruption, illegal immigration, and drug wars. To me? It’s the place where I discovered a new, purposeful way to live. Mexico is many things to many people – and as I embark on my fifth journey south of the border this weekend, here’s what the country m...

Do Critics Really Matter?

I was wondering when it was going to happen.

The other day, I checked The Forever Saga: Flash’s Amazon page for the umpteenth time, curious to see if any new reader reviews had been posted. This particular time, I scrolled down the page to find the new review – and it was 1 star. Out of five. I’ve been told by a friend that “it just means they think you’re number one!”

How did I react? Better than expected; I just shrugged and went on with my day. But it got me thinking – what role does a criti...

Sean Gets Interviewed by Furious Fanboys. It Was Actually Quite Calm.

ffinterview2713

I recently had the honor of being featured by Furious Fancast, the podcast radio show from Furious Fanboys, a website that celebrates nerd culture at its finest! Jason Peffley over at FF contacted me after I asked them to feature The Forever Saga: Flash, and he graciously offered to interview me and my special brand of cray-cray!

And with that, sit back and listen as Jason and I discuss the inspirations and influences within The Forever Saga: Flash, some concepts about technology in today’s wo...

Why Creative People Need Friends

Yes I get by with a little help from my friends,

with a little help from my friends.

Ringo Starr sang those lyrics nearly 50 years ago on one of the greatest albums ever made, The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. All mind-altering allusions aside, The Beatles were masters at stating plainly many compelling truths, and in this case they touch upon a vital one: we can’t go it alone, especially artists. The influence of others can actually augment – or sap – our imagination. Here are...

Author, Meet Pinterest. Ooh.

The Pinterest experience starts with a new account, your first board, and a few pictures. And then, it becomes a hobby. For some, an obsession. To date, Pinterest has nearly 12 million users – and is the fastest-ever website to reach 10 million. Not bad for a 3-year old photo sharing website.

For being an author, I’m actually a pretty visual person – the words I craft are mainly inspired by images I’ve witnessed on a TV/movie screen. I dipped a toe into Pinterest at first – and honestly, it’s...

Why We Must Keep Reading

whyweread12913

In today’s world, the written word is arguably the most powerful form of communication – and we often take it for granted.

Think about it – a lot of us read constantly – text messages, email, internet articles, books, news, etc. Words adorn our TV shows, advertisements, and just about every other screen we gaze at. And yet, we hear about the print industry dying out – everything from newspapers to magazines to printed books to bookstores themselves. Depending on whose opinion you hear, it seem...

5 Reasons Why The Forever Saga Is More Than Just Sci-Fi

TFSscifi12413

Science fiction is a hard sell, even amongst avid readers. Perhaps it’s often so far removed from reality that a reader can’t relate. Or maybe decades of spectacle-driven, shlocky sci-fi has left a sour taste in many mouths.

The Forever Saga is a fictional work with feet firmly planted in two settings: one of a fantastical sci-fi setting, and the other being a grounded, normal world that we all live in today. And if anyone passes on readingFlash because of the sci-fi elements, I believe they a...
