Childhood Awesomeness That Inspired The Forever Saga

tfsinspiration121312

Back in the 1980′s (and parts of the 90′s), kids had it good. Life was less cluttered and more carefree. No one was bombarded with the Internet or crazy pics/stories about how cray-cray Nicki Minaj is. Video games were all about Mario and Sonic, not hyper-realistic shooters that made it okay for kids to crave violence. And toys…omgosh, the toys! From GI Joe and Robotech to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Masters of the Universe, young boys had so many well-made, articulated, accessorized, an...

The Forever Saga Begins Support of IJM

ijmsupport121212

WithThe Forever Saga: Flash spreading to a wider audience two months after its release, author Sean C. Sousa announced that a portion of the book’s sales have begun to benefit International Justice Mission, a human rights agency dedicated to protecting the freedoms of those victimized by forced slavery, sexual exploitation, and other forms of oppression.

“I first heard about human trafficking – or the modern-day slave trade – back in college,” Sean explains. “It had never crossed my mind that...

What To Do When Creativity Strikes, Part 2

Today’s ForeverBlog entry is the second half of a series on creativity; you can catch up by reading part one here.

Last week, I offered some tidbits about how to make the most of your creative moments. Embracing them will give you a wealth of creativity, and a smorgasbord of ideas that can be further developed. More than “silly little stories” or “just a side project,” being truly creative gives us a purpose and a thrill much greater than predicting the fastest route in traffic or staying unde...

What To Do When Creativity Strikes

At some point or another, we’ve all had “that idea.”

You know, a burst of inspiration that opened up possibilities for your life. Maybe it was a melody. A great first line for a novel. The concept for a new product. Perhaps a video game design. A newly-discovered love for playing a sport. Whatever it looks like, it makes you come alive in your daydreaming, taking you on rabbit trails where anything seems attainable.

What do we do when creativity comes along? Do we commit to seeing it come alive...

Why The “Forever” Saga?

What does the word “forever” mean to you?

To the world, it means many things. “A diamond is forever.” “OMG I luv u 4-eva.” “Nothing lasts forever.” “I Wanna Love You Forever (my second favorite Jessica Simpson jam; yes, I rank them).” Google “forever” and find everything from Forever21 to Batman Forever posters. Clearly, the idea of forever is a popular one…maybe overused to the point of losing its meaning.

So why did I name my series The FOREVER Saga? Why not The Infinite Saga? Or The Saga of...

Behind the Extra Life 24 hr. Video Game Charity Marathon

As you can tell by the Causes page at this site, it’s important for me to give back…and last year, I found an amazing way to do so.

Extra Life, an organization that benefits Children’s Miracle Network hospitals around the United States, holds an annual 24-hour video game marathon. You sign up solo or with a team, and ask friends and family to sponsor you. While Extra Life began with one child’s battle with leukemia, they have grown extremely fast due to their annual gaming marathons.

Last month...

Transforming RC Car/Walking Robot Comes Alive!

Bow to your diminutive robot overlord!

So, you know that Sean’s a huge fan of awesome robots of all shapes and sizes. But what about a working radio-controlled car that transforms into a walking robot with lights and a wi-fi camera?

Schematics are proven to make everything 50% more rad.

The Brave Robotics project just released a new video showcasing just that. Apparently, this particular sweet thang is the result of a 10-year project.

This robot can drive, steer, walk, and moonwalk – all at the c...

The Dichotomies of The Forever Saga

The word of the day is…dichotomy (die-cot-uh-mee)! It means a “division into two parts, kinds, etc.; subdivision into halves or pairs.” Fun fact: when I first read the word, I wondered what a “ditch-oh-toe-me” was, too.

Dichotomy can also describe two halves in their similarities and differences, and so the word perfectly describes several contrasting qualities in The Forever Saga:

The Dichotomy of the Cover. My cover illustrator, Stanley Lau, absolutely nailed the story we wanted to tell in th...
