The Queen's Gambit
Are you thinking there's nothing left to watch on Netflix? Do you think watching a chess game is boring? You'd be wrong on both fronts.
The Queen's Gambit is an intelligent, well-written series that takes chess and makes it your new porn. From the first episode, you're sucked into the life of Beth Harmon. She's a brilliant chess player who's also on a path of self-destruction. Marvelous.
Have a look. Maybe it will give you the same thought I had. If the pills and booze can bring that much talent out in Beth, then Lindsey Lohan could be a grand master.
Cheers.

Dumb and Dumber
(Having watched several YouTube videos of an interviewer asking a person on the street a question, I'm very worried about the overall IQ of this country)
--- Clip 1 ---
Interviewer: What does a geologist do?
POTS: The scoring in sports, right?
--- Clip 2 ---
Interviewer: Are spiders insects?
POTS: No
Interviewer: What are they?
POTS: A reptile.
--- Clip 3 ---
Interviewer: What continent is the United States in?
POTS: Okay. I'm getting stuck on the word "continent"

Indian Matchmaking
Indian Matchmaking is a reality TV show on Netflix that centers around arranged marriages. From an American point of view, it's very eye opening.
I wouldn't have thought that an independent woman would still be looked down on in India today. I stand corrected.
The show is full of amazing people like Nadia and Vyasar. Then you have the man-children, Pradu and Akshay. Each has never left their parents house, and I guess never will. Apparently, the wife is expected to move in under the mother-in-law's roof (and oh those mothers). Run girls!
You just want to slap both of these guys, and then tell them to go make their bed.
What is truly interesting about the show is the cultural differences, not just between American and Indian sensibilities, but between Indians and American Indians themselves. Nice that you can get such exposure and not leave the house (not that any of us could if we wanted to).
Enjoy!

Harry Potter Meets Lord of the Flies
Well, here I go. Finally getting off the couch and starting on my 5th book. The narrative voice in this one is not something I've ever tried before. Wish me luck.

Writing Prompt
I think someone should write a book about high school murders, where the killer turns out to be the lunch lady. She's been killing people with the turkey surprise, which is why everyone has been dying on Wednesdays.

She's Not OK with This
Currently, I'm a bit bah humbug on TV as an entertainment medium. There's not a lot that grabs me lately (and, anyway, I'm focused on learning to draw).
Despite my small screen negativity, there has been a recent gem, I'm Not OK with This. The twenty minute episodes of this comedy/drama are like an energy shot for the left side of your cranium. They're a tiny bundle of sweet, teenage angst that starts out where Stephen King's Carrie left off.
I mean − can prom night get any better than this? Seriously. I think not.
Throw in a budding sexuality, some superpowers and a tampon shoved under the bathroom stall door, and you've got yourself something magical.
So belly up to the mini-episode bar, and you too will ask, "may I have another?"
