Paperback: 152 pages Publisher: Motivational Press, Inc. (May 20, 2014) ISBN-10: 1628650974 ISBN-13: 978-1628650976
About The Book

Educator, counselor & poet, Sally Naylor celebrates the release of her second book Rogue Nirvana -- Beyond Woo-Woo: Create the Life You Love. If you’ve ever wondered if this is all there is or wondered what’s missing in your life’s journey, this book offers a comedic yet laser-focused excursion into how societal norms, self-help, & new age spirituality do not often offer you relief. After battles with chronic fatigue, cancer, & widowhood, Naylor sought, synthesized & now shares in this field guide, her belief that you too can construct your own personal Nirvana.
About The Author

Sally Naylor, daughter of a highly decorated WWII combat veteran, FBI agent, and lawyer, and a sweet, stay-at-home, southern belle mother, roamed the world, growing up as an “Air Force Brat.” This gypsy was raised with and confused by both the sword and the cross. A series of crises motivated her to engage in this rogue romp to Nirvana as she sorted through the impossible expectations of her middle class upbringing. And yes, she did attain her own Nirvana but in an unexpected & bizarre manner. Before setting aside societal conditioning, this renegade, scamp and unrepentant rascal thrived as an upper school English teacher and curriculum developer. Naylor’s students have had their work featured in many publications and have won numerous writing awards. In addition to teaching creative writing and blogging, she served as an in-school counselor where she initiated student peer-to-peer counseling, mediation and AIDS Ed programs. She also engages in life coaching, interviews, speaking and facilitating workshops. Her first book of poetry, Firebird, a story of regeneration and cancer recovery, published in January 2012 is also available on Amazon. Her next book is titled The Estrogen Project. Also in the works are Rogue’s Release: Relief in 30 Minutes a Week, a creative writing text, and two poetry books: Heresies & Sweet Basil and Exit Stage Left.

Bonded By Blood Vampire Chronicles
Born with a sword in his hand and raised in the Highlands......Broderick is a rugged Scotsman through and through! Son to Hamish and Moira, he was the elder of his two siblings – Maxwell the middle son, and Donnell the youngest. In 1478, Broderick’s mother died in battle beside her sons and husband during a raid orchestrated by Angus Campbell and his father Fraser. At Moira’s funeral, Hamish MacDougal threw himself from the highest tower of the MacDougal estate. Though his sons had tried to talk him down, Hamish could not be swayed from his deed and shouted, “’Tis my fault she is dead! I’ve brought this upon all of you,” before he fell to his death.
Broderick and his brothers had to forge on with their lives and occupied themselves with building their own estates. Maxwell and Donnell both married and had children while Broderick focused on finishing his own holdings of Glenstrae, where he eventually settled in with his own wife, Evangeline. However, during a May Day celebration in 1485 at his manor - with his brothers and their families in attendance - Angus Campbell attacked the estate and slaughtered all in attenance, leaving Broderick for dead. Evangeline escaped and was rescued by a convent. Rescued by Cordelia Lynn Harley and with her assistance, Rick crossed over into immortality a year later, seeking revenge against his clan enemy. Traveling as a Gypsy in a caravan of wagons, he hid his vampiric nature by using his immortal gifts to tell fortunes while he searched for Angus Campbell, who is also a vampire.
Rick is a very accomplished painter, and gets to indulge in this pastime when he isn't fighting for those he loves.

Book BlurbBroderick MacDougal follows the familiar yearning of his soul to a fierce warrior who is as seductive as a siren at sea - and she is just as deadly. The world of the supernatural opens to Broderick as he not only finds himself in the midst of an ancient war of shapeshifters, but the devious Cordelia Lynn Harley has re-entered his life and has a few of her own surprises.
Born into a hated race of Norse wolf shifters, Celina Hunter knows all too well the dangers of trusting anyone other than her two brothers. And yet the survival of her family hinges on trusting the strangely familiar vampire, a natural enemy of her kind…yet her tribe’s Shaman advisers confirm he is her soul mate. Enemy or not, Celina slips into the spell of Broderick's promises of eternal love, gambling with all she holds dear.
Broderick and Celina are bound by a curse, but having come this far through the centuries, Broderick is not about to risk his chance at having his soul mate for eternity. The price, however, may be more than Celina is willing to pay as there is more at stake than just her immortal soul. Click to Tweet

Arial Burnz - Author Bio
Arial Burnz has been an avid reader of paranormal and fantasy for over thirty years. With bedtime stories filled with unicorns, hobbits, dragons and elves, she succumbed to crafting her own tales, penning to life the magical creatures roaming her dreams. Having a romantic husband who's taught her the meaning of true love, she's helpless to weave romance into her tales. Now she shares them with the world. Arial Burnz lives in Southern California, with her husband (a.k.a. her romance novel hero)—who is also, quite coincidentally, a descendant of Clan MacDougal.

EXCERPTDavid strode through the battle raging between his men and the castle defenders in the courtyard and headed straight for the keep, intent on his goal. The castle would fall quickly. The defenders lacked leadership and were in disarray. His only concern was whether the castle had a secret tunnel for escape. During the siege, he had spread his men out through the fields surrounding the fortress to keep watch. But he had concentrated his forces for the attack and most were now inside the castle. If there was a tunnel, he must secure the widow and her daughters before they had a chance to escape. He did not relish the idea of having to chase them down through the fields with dogs. The defenders had foolishly waited too long to withdraw to the keep, and most were caught in the courtyard when David’s men burst through the gate. He barely spared them a glance as he ran up the steps of the keep. With several of his warriors at his back, he burst through the doors brandishing his sword. He paused inside the entrance to hall. Women and children were screaming, and the few Blackadder warriors who had made it inside were overturning tables in a useless attempt to set up a defense. “If ye hope for mercy, drop your weapons,” David shouted, making his voice heard above the chaos. He locked gazes with the men who hesitated to obey his order until every weapon clanked to the floor, then he swept his gaze over the women. Their clothing confirmed what he’d known the moment he entered the hall. Blackadder’s widow was not in the room. “Where is she?” he demanded of the closest Blackadder man. “Who, m’lord?” the man said, shifting his gaze to the side. “Your mistress!” David picked him up by the front of his tunic and leaned in close. “Tell me now.” “In her bedchamber,” the man squeaked, pointing to an arched doorway. “’Tis up the stairs.” David caught a sudden whiff of urine and dropped the man to the floor in disgust. The wretch had wet himself. “Take him to the dungeon,” he ordered. The coward had given up his mistress far too easily. David started up the wheeled stairs to the upper floors with his sword at the ready. He expected to encounter Blackadder warriors, protecting the lady of the castle. But there were none on the stairs and none guarding the door on the first floor. Damn it. She must have escaped. He gritted his teeth as he envisioned the lady’s guards leading her through the tunnel. He was about to open the chamber door to make sure it was empty when Brian, one of his best men, came down the stairs. “Laird, I checked all the chambers while ye were in the hall,” he said. David’s jaw ached from clenching it. “There’s one door on the floor just above us that wouldn’t open with the latch,” Brian said. “Shall I break it down?” David waved him aside and pulled the ax from his belt as he raced up the stairs. “Open it!” he shouted and pounded on the door. He did not wait. She could be escaping through a secret door this very moment. Three hard whacks with his ax, and the door split. He kicked it until it swung open, then stepped through. At his first sight of the woman, his feet became fixed to the floor. He felt strange, and his vision was distorted, as if as if he had swallowed a magical potion that narrowed his sight. He could see nothing in the room but her. She was extraordinarily lovely, with violet eyes, pale skin, and shining black hair. But there was something about her, something beyond her beauty, that held him captive. She was young, much younger than he expected, and her features and form were delicate, in marked contrast to the violent emotion in her eyes. David knew to the depths of his soul that a brute like him should not be the man to claim this fragile flower, even while the word mine beat in his head like a drum. He had no notion of how long he stood staring at her before he became aware that she held a sword. It was longer still before he noticed the two wee lasses peeking out from behind her like frightened kittens. Anger boiled up in his chest. Every Blackadder man in the castle who could still draw breath should have been here, standing between him and their lady. Instead, she faced him alone with a sword she could barely lift with both hands. It was a brave, but ridiculous gesture. There was no defense against him.

Risking It All by JM Stewart Series: A Morgan Family Romance, #1Genre: Contemporary RomancePublisher: Berkley IntermixRelease Date: September 16, 2014

Love requires a leap of faith...
She’s everything he wants…
For years, Kyle Morgan has hidden his true feelings from the gorgeous girl next door that he grew up loving and protecting. But when she shows up at his apartment in the middle of the night, desperately needing comfort and support, his iron will begins to waver…
…and the only thing he can’t bear to lose.
Kyle was always the big brother Cecelia Anton never had, but suddenly her goofy best friend has become a sexy man she can’t keep her thoughts—or hands—off of. As their deep connection melts into uncontrollable desire, Ceci is willing to put it all on the line for a shot at true love. Only Kyle is keeping a terrible secret about Ceci’s past that could destroy not only their lifelong friendship but their happily-ever-after…

For a moment, she stared, her eyes searching his, then she straightened her shoulders. “Why’d you kiss me?”
Panic curled through him, sending his pulse pounding into his rib cage. Damn. Why hadn’t he expected her to ask that? But he couldn’t answer it. To do so would be tempting fate. An intense need for distance seized him. Half afraid he’d lose his mind and do something else he’d regret, like pull her into his arms and show her why he’d kissed her, he shot to his feet.
He flashed her a smile he knew had to look as phony as it felt. “Headache’s better. Thanks.”
He didn’t wait for a response but strode toward the yard.
“I need to know, Kyle.”
His answer sat on the tip of his tongue, but the voice of reason sounded in his head. Don’t say it. Whatever you do, do not say it. Just keep walking.
Her soft footsteps sounded behind him. “You can’t just do something like that and walk away and expect me not to question it. You blow hot and cold, do you know that? I know desire when I see it, yet you just keep walking away.”
“Ever think maybe I wanted to kiss you?” The words left his mouth on a hoarse whisper, and God help him, a desperate need to see her eyes seized him. He turned to find her directly behind him. She stared for a fraction of a second too long, heat and curiosity blazed in her eyes. A heartbeat later, a light blush stole into her cheeks, but she didn't move, didn't say a word.
Everything inside of him ground to a halt, his mind twisting off in another direction. I’ll be damned. If ever he needed a confirmation, there it was. Whatever had happened between them was definitely not one-sided.

Wine & Food Blog Tour. This was great fun!.

I was invited by author MCV Egan to participate in this really clever blog hop, so here I am! This is all about pairing books with food and drink, which is something I never really thought of. But here goes…
1) If your main character were a glass of wine, which one would they be? Anabella Anthony, heroine of Bella's Choice, would be a glass of Four Cousins Rose (A deliciously fruity light-styled semi-sweet wine). Aldrich Hagin, lawyer and Bella's love, would be L'Avenir Far & Near Pinotage Merlot 2013. (A fruit-filled, succulent and lighter-styled red wine, ideal for drinking without further maturation.)
2) Describe your book in one meal: I’d say a platter filled with a variety of meats, cheeses, sauces to compliment it all, and some Rye bread on the side. Bella's Choice combines romance, suspense and a lot of heart to deliver a unique reading experience.

3) What candy would your book be? Turkish delight. Sweet, chewy, and classy-not something everyone would like, but it leaves you wanting more.
4) What does your book smell like? Bella's Choice smells like strawberries, for sure. The tangy taste combined with its syrypy sweetness leaves its taste long after you have eaten the delicate fruit. Combining it with cream that is mixed with caster sugar and vanilla essence and you have a unique flavor going on in your mouth that drives you to have the next bite.
5) Your book’s snack would be: tough one.Salticrax with an avocado dip.
And about me…
1) Describe your most memorable meal: We just went through a very tough time in our lives, had no meat for most of it, then someone gave us a whole bag filled with a variety of meats. That night we made Boerewors complete with braaied onions and fresh hotdog buns. That was very memorable for us as a family.
2) One food word to describe your writing style: Stew or bredie. I like the diversity in it and it shows in my books as well.
3) What will someone find you eating/drinking when you’re really into a good book?Water mostly, but sometimes coffee, or tea. Fruit and crackers are always around.
4) Sweet or Salty? It depends on my mood since I cannot indulge myself to much in them. But there are times that I love a Crunchie, or Bar One, even a Rum and Raisin chocolate. Sweet Chilly chips or Sourcream chips. But always in moderation.

EXCERPT:
Gavin has been my rock and my refuge in all of this. He took me back in or rather helped have all my things moved from the house I shared with Ian back to the apartment. I broke down several times as boxes were carried in and was in no shape to actually go over to the house to help pack my things. I spent the day on my bed, soaking my pillow in tears. I don’t know what I would have done without Gavin. He rarely left my side at the hospital. He has been home caring for me almost night and day since I returned. I hate to think about the toll I’m taking on his work and his social life. I know it’s selfish of me but I can’t function without him right now. I need someone to lean on and for me; Gavin is the only one. Ian would have been the only one but… Well, I don’t want to think about that right now. Dr. Somers was adamant that I rest my brain. No excessive reading or watching tv; nothing that would really stress my brain, just rest, is what he told me. I’ve tried to follow orders as best I can. I’d thought about getting a place of my own when I left the hospital but Gavin would not hear of it. “Gav, I’m so sorry that you have to deal with all this. It can’t be easy for you. I don’t blame you with the media circus and everything if you don’t want me to come back and live with you.”“Stop it. I won’t listen to another word of that dribble. You will come home to our apartment and we will eat bad chinese, get drunk and go dancing. Once you’re feeling better that is. And there’s nothing you can say to stop that.” Gavin’s so great to try to cheer me up. He knows I need someone to lean on and without Ian, well, I don’t know what I would do without Gavin. My schedule has consisted of wake, run, lay in bed, go for an evening run on the days I don’t meet with Dr. Reeves and then home to shower and go to bed for the night. It wouldn’t have been too much of a stretch to say I was depressed. I knew I needed to talk with someone, a professional. Dr. Somers insisted upon it when I was in the hospital and introduced me to Dr. Reeves. When I first met with him, I didn’t think I would ever be comfortable enough to share my story with him. Hell, I couldn’t share it with the people that were closest to me, how would I share it with a complete stranger? But I guess that is what makes him the professional. From day one I shared my life with him and he helped me walk through what it all meant for my future.I’ve tried to contact Ian. The 100s of voicemails that probably went un-listened to, the texts that are too numerous for me to even fathom, daily emails and calls to his office and the house attest to the fact that I wanted to talk with him. Everything went unanswered. I still remember the pain in his voice from that brief time in the hospital. He was broken. I’d done that to him. I wanted to wrap him my arms but couldn’t even manage to open my eyes. I wanted to plead with him, to explain everything, to tell him it was the only way to protect him, to let him know that I planned to tell him everything that night before Dean came to the door. I just wanted to stop him from leaving. I remember hearing the door close and the knowledge that there was no going back hit me full force. Ian’s gone and I’m left here. Alone.Nightmares have plagued me nightly since the attack. I’m hopeful that therapy will help alleviate them if not stop them all together. I know they are a manifestation of my fear but I really don’t want to be afraid anymore. Most nights Gavin has either had to calm me after the nightmare or sleep in my room because I can’t bear to be alone afterward.Only once do we talk about Dean being at the hospital. Gavin said he looked like he was studying me. He didn’t make any move to touch me but kept mumbling about coming back to him, being with him, loving him. It’s hard to come to grips with the fact that Dean is essentially two people, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde if you will. There’s the one side that actually seems to care for me but it’s more the kind of care that a master has for his pet. Then there’s the sadistic side, the side the reveled in my pain; the side that only wants to take, take from me, take from my father, take everything and that would kill me in the process. That Dean was the one I had come to know so well after our engagement. I tried so many times to break things off with him; either he would convince me to come back or force me to with threats, eventually I thought my fate was sealed. I had no idea anyone could be so cruel, evil. But Dean showed me time and again that I had no idea what real evil was until him.

EXCERPT:
A hand wraps gently around my wrist, stopping me from moving forward. “Marisa Washington?” I freeze at the deep voice I only heard hours ago. Forcing my eyes to look up, my stomach flips when they find the gorgeous Zach Greer standing in front of me.
“Zach,” I murmur and then I try to compose myself as much as possible. As my body thaws slightly from the shock of seeing him again, I feel his fingertips rubbing back and forth along the inside of my wrist. It’s calming and comforting instead of creepy like it should be. I’ve met him twice and his touch doesn’t bother me a bit, whereas if Pete’s hand brushes along mine, I swipe it back like he’s a mosquito.
He smiles down to me and I notice there’s no sign of surprise in those blue hues. “Why am I the only one surprised here?” I ask him, tilting my head to the side and a billowing easy going laugh erupts from his mouth.
“You caught me. I figured I may run into you,” he admits and my eyes must give away my hesitation that it hasn’t been a coincidence running into one another again. “I mean King’s Gate isn’t huge and I fly a lot of the tour customers to their destinations. Not that I intentionally followed you here … I didn’t know you’d stay here. I mean I kind—” he adorably rambles. I could become accustomed to a hot guy being nervous around me.
“It’s okay. I understand,” I interrupt and nervously twist a strand of my long dark hair around my finger.
“So, you’re staying here?” he asks, shoving his hands in his pockets and casually leaning against the wall.
“I’m not so sure I should tell you,” I kid, and that mouth opens up in the most amazing smile with perfectly white teeth. Tell me this man has a fault.
“I have ways of finding out.” He winks and my stomach flutters at the thought that he may be attracted to me like I am to him.
“Hmm … maybe I should make you use those ways.” I boldly take a step to him. Not sure why this foreign cat and prey act is coming out of me. I’ve never been one to make a move on a guy, much less someone as out of my league as Zach Greer. Pushing off the wall, he takes a step and my pulse quickens.
“Be careful, before you know it, I’ll be at your hotel door.” He takes a hold of my finger and releases it from my hair. We are chest-to-chest and my usual guarded self vanished at some point during this impromptu meeting, because the only thing I want are his lips on mine. To feel the warmth of his tongue with mine, his hands on my hips, drawing me closer.
“Maybe I wouldn’t mind,” I softly say and one side of his lips turn up as our eyes fixate on one another’s. This current forms from him to me and I boldly wait for him to push this further. My heart races, wanting him to entice me to do something I’ve never done, to push me to give in to my impulses that I always deny.
“Today would be nice, Marisa,” Wes sneers as he passes us going to the bathroom.
“Boyfriend?” Zach asks, not stepping back from me.
“Co-worker,” I answer, admiring those blue eyes that haunt me.
“Go to dinner, Marisa. I’ll be at the bar when you finish so I can buy you a drink.” Then he turns on his heel and leaves me standing there with my heart racing and a pool of moisture between my legs. What the hell?

Chapter Two
Everyone turned and made their way out to the patio. Aldrich and Anabella found themselves at the back of the group, waiting patiently for them to go through the patio doors. He moved forward, pressing against her. His body heat surrounded her and Anabella could pick up his cologne; spicy with a hint of sea breeze. She inhaled with pleasure, fully aware of the man directly behind her.Aldrich himself found it hard to think of anything else for some reason. He was attracted to the young girl. It was just not his style to be interested in a mere child, but she intrigued him. Her innocence was a thing of beauty. There was also something else, a sadness she carefully hid from everyone, but it drew him to her. He wanted to shield her, his hands almost reaching to touch her and hold her safe. The last time he felt this kind of protectiveness was when he’d been married all those years ago. Since then, he hadn’t felt it with any other woman. She was a young girl trapped in a woman’s body, with no idea of where she belonged.Instead of giving in to the need to touch her, he bent over and asked in a low voice, “How old are you?”“Eighteen.” She was self-assured but careful. She turned and saw his lips up close and wondered how they would taste. As he talked, a mere thought flashed through her mind, images of other lips throwing kisses her way invaded her head. She closed her eyes, willing the visions to disappear. When she looked up, his eyes held a question, and she knew that she was staring. A blush formed over her cheeks with the shame and guilt she felt over the thoughts she was conjuring about him. He is not like my parents, she reminded herself impatiently. He gave her a broad smile, but asked her ordinary questions. Her age was not an issue at that moment. She relaxed. She hadn’t realized how nervous she was, and it helped that his questions were calming, deflecting her knotted nerves.“In what events will you compete?”“The two-hundred meter backstroke, butterfly, and relay.”“I will definitely make some time to watch, sweetheart,” he said softly, touching her arm as they moved forward.“Thank you.” She liked the endearment and smiled, turning back to step outside.Yes, I will definitely make some time. He watched as she walked in front of him with a gentle sway to her hips, appreciating her slender body. Once outside, he led her to an unoccupied chair where she sat down, bending shapely legs under her. He sat directly in front of her, his eyes never wavering, even though it seemed she was not aware of him.Anabella was aware; the butterflies in her tummy told her he was watching her every move. Even when Mr. Richter and Tim spoke to him, she could still feel his gaze on her, sipping away at his drink. His posture was relaxed and at ease. He knew the family well she realized as she watched him listen to Mr. Richter with keen interest.Sometimes, she turned to Monica and her other friends to talk to them, only to look back at him. Each time she found his eyes on her and a smile playing on his lips. She wasn’t uncomfortable under his stare; she rather enjoyed his blunt way of looking at her. Anabella wished she was a bit more outgoing in order to speak to him, but she didn’t know what to say. She knew he was a lawyer at a successful firm, but other than that she knew nothing about him. This was something she wanted to change, but her shyness prevented her from speaking freely, and then there was the age difference. He was out of her league; no way would he find her fascinating. She couldn’t understand why she felt so uneasy about it. There were many couples whose age difference wasn’t a problem. Her parents were an example. Her mother and father differed in age by fifteen years and they had a ‘happy’ marriage. If you could call what they had a marriage―it worked for them.So far, he was keeping his distance. On the one hand, she appreciated it but on the other, she loved the idea of getting to know him better. What could I offer a man like him? Her attention was drawn to him regularly, distracting her from her own conversation. He looked intelligent, sharp, missed nothing and was almost intimidating as she watched him casually. He was surely a worthy opponent in the court room. His confidence held great appeal to her. There was something about him that captivated her curiosity.

Aldrich was also lost in his own thoughts. He was thinking of their age difference and the obstacles it presented. Eighteen was still very young. At thirty, he was ready to settle down. He watched her chatting with her friends. They had nothing in common, and her entire life was still in front of her. Yet he found himself intrigued, especially by the sad look he’d seen for a fleeting moment. Then, of course, there was the whole innocence factor. She was untouched by a man. The way she blushed at his remarks, her loss for words; if he wanted to know her better it had to come from him. The question was: did he need that in his life? When he looked at her once again, his eyes taking in the full splendor of the young woman, the decision was very clear to him. He would make the effort. There was something about her that kept his interest. However, he would have to be patient. Although her innocence was appealing to him, it could create problems. She was not like the typical girls her age. Her eyes gave away a sense of maturity he didn’t expect from a girl this young. She had a look that said she had seen it all before and it made him curious. Her actions said she was new to love from a man. Maybe it was his lawyer instinct, but he could pick up that all was not well with her.

Monica made sure everyone had a good time. She was always the heart of any party, and as a good host her timing was impeccable. She turned to Tim and motioned for him to put some music on. Almost immediately, Butterfly Kisses filled the night sky from the speakers in the corner. Monica made her way to Aldrich, and asked him for a dance. She knew him well and really liked him as a friend. It was why she’d known she just had to arrange a party for her two friends to meet. When she mentioned it to Tim, he agreed that it would be a splendid idea, but he also offered a warning. She would need to tread carefully and not push anything. Allow them to find themselves without any pressure from her. Reluctantly she had agreed, and so far it was working out wonderfully. He smiled when she stood in front of him asking for a dance. He stood up, accepting her invitation. She led him to the floor and he followed, taking her in his arms―not too close―but with a comfortable space between them, simply enjoying the song. At one point, when they were next to Anabella’s chair, Monica reached out to grab her friend’s hand. Startled at the sudden touch, Anabella looked at her, then at him.Monica pulled her up, placing her hand in Aldrich’s and smiled.Aldrich immediately picked up on what Monica was doing and took over with a grin. He really didn’t need help from an eighteen-year-old in this department, but appreciated the gesture. He pulled Anabella closer to him, one hand lightly touching her lower back, the other engulfing her right hand as they danced away. They were both good dancers and their feet moved in synchronization with the music, melting together. At first, she was surprised but didn’t mind the closeness. Willingly, she drew closer as they danced, her lips close to his neck where she could see his pulse beat in the hollow of his neck. He smelled so good. She wondered how it would feel to kiss him there. Heat rushed through her whole body. As if he could hear her musings, he pulled her in closer. She fitted perfectly in his arms. Her hand on his shoulder held him gently. As the second song continued, they didn’t part. If someone had asked them what the song was called, they would not have been able to recall it. Anabella tried hard not to think too much; simply enjoying the closeness and the feeling of safety he created. His heat was intoxicating, and she couldn’t help but brush the part of his skin just above the collar of his shirt with her fingers. He looked down at her, her emerald eyes were glowing. He leaned in, their cheeks touching, and she sighed softly, laying her head on his shoulder. It was amazing how comfortable they felt with each other, no words necessary to break the silence. His hands were warm and gentle, the one on her lower back caressing her softly; the same soft, gentle touch she bestowed on him was evidently being returned. During the last song, he encircled her with both his arms, surrounding her.Through hazy eyes, she looked at her arm around his neck, noticing the time on her watch. It was already nine-fifteen. She had to leave, but her body was sending out different messages than what her mind told her. Finally, she whispered in his ear to let her go as she needed to leave.“I must go,” she said softly. He turned and looked at her, his blue eyes darker yet soft; she could melt into them. She would love to explore this more, but it couldn’t be, not now anyway. He pulled her in even closer, and in a husky voice whispered, “I would love to get to know you better.” Reluctantly, he released her.She wasn’t sure she had heard him correctly, but the mere idea of him wanting to know her caused her heart to skip a beat. The few minutes they shared together were overwhelming. He’d never thought this could happen to him.In wonder, she looked at him. You are silly, Anabella. What do you have to offer him? Nothing. Especially the love part. I don’t know what love is, and why would he want to know me?“But I understand you have to leave. You have a big day tomorrow, and you need your rest,” he concluded with a smile. When he released her, a void filled her heart and body, a void she had never experienced before. She knew there had been something missing in her life and now that she had found it, she didn’t want to let go. She stepped closer to him, kissed him in the crook of his neck and walked away. Making her way over to Monica and her parents, she thanked them for a great evening, said her goodbyes to the other guests and walked out the door. Aldrich was still standing in the same spot where she had left him, still feeling her lips on his neck, shocked at her tender display, when Tim walked over.“She impressed you, my friend.” Tim gave a chuckle, patted him on the shoulder and walked away, saying, “Monica was right about how much you would like her.”As if that brought him back to reality, he quickly took a card out of his pocket, scribbled on it and ran to her car, reaching her as she was about to get in.She felt a piece of paper being pressed into her hand, and looked up to find it was Aldrich. The message was clear―he wanted to see her again.Once home and in her bedroom, she unfolded the paper still in her hand. It was his business card.
