At the heart of it all, Ben's worst enemy is his own mind, and he must confront his past in order to save his future. The twist and turns in The Experiment of Dreams will keep you guessing, down to the very last line.
Author Bio:
Brandon Zenner was born and raised in Red Bank New Jersey, only a short distance from the shore. His short fiction has been published in both print and online publications, the first being PLAZM 28, submitted when Brandon was just 19 years old. In 2014 Brandon published his first full-length novel, "The Experiment of Dreams," as a Kindle ebook. The paperback novel followed a year later. His second full-length novel is well on its way.
Throughout his early years writing, Brandon's favorite practice was to open a dictionary to any random page and aimlessly select the first word that this finger touched. He would then feverishly write a short story using his Smith-Corona typewriter. Using a mechanical typewriter, without the aid of auto correct, taught the importance of grammar and spelling (as well as patience and aggravation).

Excerpt:
“Just a moment,” Dr. Wulfric said, using a swivel knob on the keyboard to fast-forward the scene. He stopped as the images cleared to what looked like mountains; only they were very blurry. Then the image again snapped into unimaginable clarity, the brightness of which startled and entranced Ben. His brain let loose a sense of euphoria that swept through his body. The camera was high in the air—in an airplane or helicopter—flying above a colorful mountain range or deep valley, perhaps the Grand Canyon. Ben didn’t know.“It’s beautiful,” Ben said. “Is that the Grand Canyon?”
“I’m not sure.”
Patches of brush in the far distance appeared in such detail that Ben doubted that he’d be able to see it any clearer if he were there himself. Suddenly the camera dropped, diving straight into a massive gorge. The plane barreled down, and then quickly leveled itself, going faster and faster—like a jet. Ben felt his stomach lurch as the camera swung straight up, hugging the wall of the canyon. It was so close to the rocky edge that whatever aircraft was taking these pictures was in serious danger of crashing into the wall. Flashes of dark brown, yellow, and orange whizzed past the screen at amazing speed, yet the image was never blurred; only his eyes couldn’t process the speed in which they were passing. When Ben blinked and held his eyes shut, the exact image of whatever was flashing by on the screen stayed in his mind like a photograph—no streaking or blurring whatsoever. It was so fast—too fast. The scene swooped down and back up through the valleys and gorges, in unbelievable detail.
Ben’s mind whirled. Dr. Wulfric hit a button and the screen went black. Ben shuttered his eyes, letting his brain rest.
“So, what did you think of my video?” Dr. Wulfric asked.
“I don’t know. Those colors ... I’ve never seen colors that vivid on a TV screen. What is this, some new high-def system you’re testing?”
“Not exactly.” He chuckled. “The little girl was my daughter, although she’s no longer a child. The roller skating rink is just like the one we went to on her third birthday, maybe a little different. The mountains, though—I have no idea where they came from.”“Okay ...”“That, Ben ... was from a dream I had a few days ago. I don’t remember dreaming it, but that was indeed recorded from my dream.”Ben looked about the room—the CAT scanner, the computer monitors and blinking machinery, and the Pyrex beakers and other labware. “What exactly are you guys doing here? You recorded your dream? Is that what that thing does?” Ben pointed to the scanner.“Sort of,” Dr. Egan replied before Dr. Wulfric could answer. “What we have here are two separate technologies. We’ve created a serum that actively monitors the neurological activity in the brain during REM sleep and transmits the activity to that piece of equipment over there. That instrument is called a Frequency Responding Lucid Transmitter. The serum works off the electrical output of the brain, triggered in part by the release of serotonin in the pineal gland, which lies above the medulla—”“Yes, Ben,” Dr. Wulfric said, waving Dr. Egan down—who was pointing at the base of his head to his own medulla oblongata. “To answer your question without confusing you any further ...” He looked again at Dr. Egan, “that device can read and transmit the images from your sleep—from anybody’s sleep. Presently, it can only transmit during the REM cycle, but that is about to change. This machine can record a dream in greater length and detail than the dreamer is aware when he’s dreaming.”“That’s just crazy,” Ben said. “I mean in a good way. It’s amazing. I’m starting to see where I fit in with all of this.”Dr. Wulfric smiled. “We would like to further explore the extent to which this machine can operate. We need someone who can utilize their REM cycle to its fullest potential. Someone like you, Ben.”

River Walk: Ten Kinky Collaborations Author ~ Al Daltrey & Friends #Erotica #BDSM #SteamyReads

Title ~ River Walk: Ten Kinky CollaborationsAuthor ~ Al Daltrey & Friends Gina Whitney ~ Lena Black ~ Julie JaretMelissa Asleson ~ Rosemary Willhide ~ Noelle BodhaineJen Lassalle Edwards ~ Ali Reynolds ~ Tiffany Huegele ~ Jaycee DaltreyGenre ~ Erotica BDSMRelease ~ June 2015 What is ‘River Walk’ and how did this idea come about?I was writing a scene in my second novel when I thought uh oh, what if I'm describing this scene the same way that I described a similar scene in my first novel. I needed to ensure I wasn't repeating myself. Which got me mulling….it would be cool to collaborate with female Authors, because each of them would bring something unique to the party. Immediately I thought of those “Duets” albums. You know, Elton John & Friend...s, type of thing.
Imagine – ten incredible female writers, working with me, bringing different stories to life.
If I wrote 10 stories in isolation - I bet they'd be somewhat similar, one to the next. But this way, each writer brings her style, her flare, her talent. And yet, each is interpreting an idea that originated from one single male Author. I haven't seen anything like it. River Walk was born.
The stories are also all tied together, very loosely (intentionally) by the famous River Walk in San Antonio. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25435025-river-walk---ten-kinky-collaborations?from_search=true&search_version=service Ten Kinky CollaborationsThe Power of a Woman by Gina Whitney & Al Daltrey SPANKED! by Lena Black & Al Daltrey  Hostage Situation by Julie Jaret & Al Daltrey Un-Cashed Cheque by Melissa Asleson & Al Daltrey The Discover Ring by Rosemary Willhide & Al Daltrey One Last Cigarette by Noelle Bodhaine & Al Daltrey Through the Ages by Jen Lassalle Edwards & Al Daltrey First Journey Second Thoughts by Ali Reynolds and Al Daltrey Three Wishes by Tiffany Huegele & Al Daltrey Love's Notion by Jaycee & Al Daltrey

EXCERPT:
I slid into a soft leather upright, and put my satchel on the floor beside me. Mr. Knight said nothing. I waited, calmly, expecting him to peruse my prominent breasts, especially since my nipples were no doubt peaked through my thin blouse and bra. But, he did not, which I greatly respected. Instead, he openly appraised my face, and finally, smiled.“So Miss Sykes, what brings such a beautiful yank to Sydney then?” “My looks are not at all pertinent, Mr. Knight.” His smile dropped. “I chose Australia spontaneously,” I offered, having enough sense not to share the Muriel’s Wedding detail. “I simply moved here to start fresh.”He leaned forward in his chair, examining me much closer, eyes narrowed. “There are only a few reasons why a woman such as yourself leaves America for down under . . . Miss Sykes.”I waited for his assumption. “You’re running from someone. An ex? Husband? Boyfriend?” I did not like the way he eyed me just then.“Incorrect on all counts,” I informed him. “I have never had any of those. But I do not believe my sexual history, or lack of it, is pertinent to the job interview.” As I spoke, his full lips had popped open and his eyebrows had hiked farther up, creating strong lines in his forehead. “Here we go,” I thought, frowning. Something I was doing was confusing him. Of course, I had no idea what it was. My tone of voice? Something I had said? It was like trying to figure out  an alien alphabet. I cleared my throat. “However, you can be rest assured I am in Australia for no reason other than a desire to live life, finally, and that I have no intentions of leaving.” I did not want him to think I was not capable of a long-term commitment to the company should things work out.

EXCERPTCaro was aware that her voice was rising, but she could do nothing to stop it. Now was as good a time as any to speak her mind. ‘As a matter of fact, if you could stop all the wars on this planet, solve world hunger and reverse the effects of global warming, I’d still feel nothing for you.’
It was the briefest look of pain flitting across his face that silenced her. Then his mouth hardened and his eyes blazed. ‘I’m your boss, Caro.’ He spoke very slowly, his voice vibrating deep in his throat. ‘All I’m asking from you is some respect. Your unwillingness to greet me at the meeting today; that wasn’t very mature, was it? How far do you think we’ll get on this project if that’s the way things are going to be between us?’
Caro was stung. ‘If you think I’m going to be anything other than professional, then you really don’t know me at all. I’ve worked for five years to save the African wild dog and I’d never do anything to jeopardise this project.’
‘Oh, I believe you,’ Ben said. ‘Nobody knows better than I do just how ambitious you really are. As a matter of fact, what was I thinking? Of course you’d never let anything get in your way, least of all other people’s feelings.’
Caro gaped.
He leaned towards her. ‘I’m right, aren’t I, Caro?’
Again he stared into her eyes, his own narrowed and filled with fire.
She could see the cords of muscle beneath the golden skin of his neck. Her breath came in small, silent gasps, and she pressed a hand to her chest.
Ben’s gaze travelled slowly from her face to the hand against her naked skin. He opened his mouth, closed it again. His body tilted towards her, his fingers heading for the bunch of towel between her breasts. Then he snatched his hand back, shook his head, turned and started for the door.

Footsteps enter my bedroom and approach my bunk. Not. Right. Now. I pretend to be asleep. A cold chill covers my body, making every hair stand on end. Then the bedroom door slams shut. I’m not in the freaking mood! Expecting to see one of my annoying foster brothers, I jerk my head toward the door and punch my fist into the mattress. “What!” I yell out, but no one’s there.
My eyes dart all around the room. Maybe there’s a draft, or someone shut another door causing this one to slam. Doubt it. I’m sure it’s just JC and Miguel trying to get even. “Hilarious, guys, I’m so scared. Now get the hell outta here.” I throw my pillow at the door and myself back on my bed.
An abnormal silence plays with my mind. I decide to reach for my headphones, but I can’t move. My heart jumps. No matter how hard I flex, my arm is stuck to the mattress. My lungs suck in air while every other organ aches under the pressure. An uncontrollable trembling takes over. What. The. Heck. Is. Going. On. My eyes blink over a hundred miles per hour. I can’t move, I can’t speak, I can’t, and then I realize I only have one ability left—sight.
Next to my bed stands a huge man with solid black corneas full of swirling dark fog in his vacant orbs, the Hollow Man. He’s staring me down again, but this time we’re the only ones in the room—no queen, no Camaro, no Mom. This can’t be real. It’s just another one of my crazy dreams. I go along for the ride, like I have a choice. The Hollow Man stands there clenching his fists, causing his abnormally large pecs to flex. My heart races, and my stomach threatens to return my lunch. An intense pain surges as he’s controlling every cell in my body without touching me.
The Hollow Man speaks, “Prince, why are you lying here as if you are a helpless child?” He turns off his death stare, and I feel an instant release followed by the familiar ache of a four-hour football workout in the Texas heat. Is this guy serious? Prince? And how am I supposed to fight something that isn’t really there? My chest tightens, and I try to wake up.

I am the debut author of a YA Urban Fantasy, One Prince; Two Kingdoms. Also, I am a middle school teacher and advocate for foster children and at-risk teens. My novel was written in response to disturbing nightmares my two foster children at the time were experiencing. After several nights of being awakened by their screams and running to comfort them, I had an idea – write a story and let their imaginations defeat their fears. The children were excited to hear stories of magical worlds and powerful celestials sent to guard them. Each night before bed, I would add new scenes and more adventures. After a few weeks, the nightmares were replaced with excitement to hear the next chapter read. The children are now living with their grandparents, but their pictures remain on my walls. “One Prince; Two Kingdoms” is dedicated to them and all the foster children who have been in my care, as well as my past and present students; my family, my two amazing teens, Kaylee and Cody, and my husband and best friend, Roy. I hope “One Prince; Two Kingdoms” will encourage children in a place of transition to have hope and never give up.

I swallow anxiously, my heart racing at lightning speed in my chest. "I never do as I'm told. You should know that." We've had our own share of disagreements and butting heads in the past. This feels different, hotter, sexier. I feel my insides ache for release. Will he give it to me or tease me into submission?
Joel's hand slides beneath my back. His warm touch startles and arouses me. I feel his leg move between mine and his knee climb closer to my groin, adding enough pressure to elicit a moan. I don't know what will happen tonight and for the moment I don't care. I want him, more than I've ever wanted anything in my life.
"Bad girls get spanked," Joel whispers into my ear and flips me onto my stomach. Before I have time to respond or fight back, I feel his hands at my sides pulling down my pants and underwear, just enough to expose my bare flesh.

Guest Post

A Snowball’s Chance in…
Everywhere you look there’s news about the environment and climate change.  Every day brings reports of loss of ice pack in the Arctic and Antarctic, warming seas, disappearing rain forests, droughts, worldwide record temperatures, vanishing species, plastic pollution.  You would think it would spur governments and people to act to stop it.
But what are the odds they will?
Basically a snowball’s chance in… the Senate.  Recently, in a vaudevillian move, the chair of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works took a snowball to the Senate floor as “proof” that climate change is not “real.”  You can’t write fiction that strange!  Scientific studies and evidence, pshaw!  As long as there is snow anywhere, climate change can’t be real.
The environment, climate change, over-population and ecology boil over with issues of politics, religion, morality, human compassion, business and economic growth, and the survival of many species on Earth, including humans.  Reading FOUR, you will find the principal characters faced with these issues, each as a person, each in his own way, each viewing the world through his particular lens, each with his own sense of morality, compassion and existence.
The themes of FOUR may seem dire, but hopefully the characters and the themes are compelling, emotionally and morally.  Maybe we have better than a snowball’s chance in hell in confronting the ecological and culturalLinks

"Come on man.  Help me out.  Show me how to use it," I pleaded."I don't need a navigator," he said stiffly."Ah, but if I'm supposed to be Johnson's partner, maybe he will.""He won't need one either.  He's been with the company almost as long as me," he said, twisting his hands on the wheel as he spoke. "How long has that been and what happened to the last guy who sat on this side of the truck?" I thought we were on a roll at least he was now talking to me. "Push this," he said, stabbing a thick finger into the face of the device.  "When this box shows up, put in the job address.  Set the town... it will do the rest," he offered, spinning it back in my direction. I began to plug in the information, stumbling with the small keys before getting it right.  To my dismay, the screen blinked several times before announcing the address could not be found.  I did it three times making sure each attempt was perfect in                        my determination to succeed. "What the hell did I do wrong?" I asked frustrated."Let me see the ticket," he snapped, taking the clipboard roughly from my hand. The tone in his voice set me on guard we were heading down hill again.  I could feel it. "Oh Christ, not today... Teslenko," he said glumly, handing the clipboard back to me again.  "I know this guy... he's a regular.  You won't find his place on a map.  It's in the middle of the fucking sticks.  Damn and I just had the truck washed." Again silence filled the cab as the vehicle rumbled along.  I wasn't sure where we were going but we drove for more than a half hour until we left the freeway for the side streets.  What was unexpected was another twenty minute ride into the foothills of Hemet and to the very edge of the blacktop itself.Ryan made no attempt to slow down as we left the pavement and flew onto a well-used, washboard and rut      infused dirt road. After an agonizing fifteen minutes I searched about for a house, a trailer, a tent, anything at this point to stop the punishment my kidneys were taking.                  "What the hell?" I asked after we hit a pot hole so hard I hit my head on the roof of the truck. "Hang tight, wait till you see around the next corner," Ryan said.I was suddenly filled with apprehension... it was the first time he had smiled all day.We bounced along as the road turned hard to the left and then...  straight up.  Huge clouds of dust trailed behind us as the tires spun, throwing rocks and dirt alike, struggling under the weight of the climb.  The back end of the truck fishtailed painfully close to the edge of the road as more of it disappeared over an ever deepening brink.  What had appeared to be low, pleasant, undulating hills when we began were now steep shear drops as the dirt road became less defined and the weeds more prevalent. Then, as the ground disappeared and the front windshield filled with nothing but sky, the truck climb over the last hill, hitting the ground hard on the downhill side.  Suddenly the landscape in front of us shifted.  We had entered a small, relatively flat valley of sorts, no more than four or five football fields long, ringed by a series of little hills, resembling a crater.  Running loosely down its center, a dirt road wondered to the far end and then turned around on itself like the eye of a needle. On the south side of us, lined up side by side, eight, old, rusted and junked out cars stood guard, their doors, hoods and trunks either had been removed or now stood open.  Across from them, three small wooden buildings, each bulging from every opening with full trash bags stacked several feet high. Virtually every square inch of this little utopia was covered with broken furniture, bicycles, washing machines, desks, televisions, bathtubs, hot water heaters, airplane wings, restaurant signs, machine parts of every type and kind imaginable.  It appeared that the world had ended and the last remnants of civilization's existence had been dumped here, leaving the rest of the world clean to begin again.Much to my relief, at long last as the road began to loop onto itself, we stopped in front of a small, dingy yellow, clapboard house, its windows covered with aluminum foil. The front porch was set between two front projections I had assumed to be bedrooms.                    My attention was caught by the front door having been opened."This guy is very abutophbic so remember, no matter what you see, what you hear and for God's sake what you smell...  Service before self," Ryan said, drawing a deep breath, opening his door. As I did the same, swinging a leg to step out of the vehicle, a shot rang out."Hang on newbie," Ryan said with disinterest, waving me back into the truck. I couldn't get my leg back inside, or the window rolled up fast enough.A second shot rang out and to my surprise, got little reaction from Ryan at all."Is mine.  Is all mine. Now go." A man's agitated voice called from inside the house.

Praise for Tegon Maus's 'Bob':Whether or not you believe the outcome, there is no denying that you will have great fun reading this very enjoyable science fiction story. It has all the essential components, good characters, a great plot and plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing, right up until the end."- Susan Keefe, Book Reviews by Susan Keefe

"I love Bob! And I love Bob. Both the character and the book left me wishing for more. Bob, the character is great. His character had me cracking up for most of the book. Not that Bob is trying to be funny. It's just that he is. And Bob the book is better because of Bob the character. Whenever a problem arises, Bob tells Pete not to worry....he's "got cousin." This book is great. You will be both laughing during and enthralled by the story. The characters are perfectly written and the dialog is wonderful. The way the story flows keeps you reading quickly and you'll find yourself at the end of Bob way too soon. The story is a must read for any sci-fi lovers, but even if you aren't a sci-fi person, you'll enjoy the story....mostly because of Bob."- Christy M., Christy's Cozy Corners

"Bob is science fiction but it is also suspenseful and funny. The characters are delightful. Bob, the man helping Peter (for a cost), is one of a kind. He’s not only funny and overbearing but he always comes through. He always has a “cousin” who can help them out. Emma is also unique as well as mysterious and Peter and Bob feel they need to help her. I was actually surprised at the end which is always good. I definitely recommend Bob. It has a little bit of everything: science fiction, humor, adventure, and suspense."- Dawn, Bound For Escape

"There’s lots of action in Bob and the story will hold your interest from beginning to end. It’s an easy book to sit down with and read late into the night with. I thoroughly enjoyed Bob’s cousins, from the black-skinned cousin to the Italian cousin that spoke only Italian yet seemed to answer Peter in English every question. I thought that the plot was plausible and the characters were realistic."-Kathryn Svendsen, Shelf Full of Books
About Tegon Maus: Tegon Maus Tegon Maus was raised pretty much the same as everyone else... devoted mother, strict father and all the imaginary friends he could conjure. Not that he wasn't friendly, he just wasn't "people orientated". Maybe he lived in his head way more than he should have, maybe not. He liked machines more than people, at least he did until I met his wife. The first thing he can remember writing was for her. For the life of him he can't remember what it was about... something about dust bunnies under the bed and monsters in my closet. It must have been pretty good because she married him shortly after that. He spent a good number of years chasing other dreams before he got back to writing. It wasn't a deliberate conscious thought, it was more of a stepping stone. His wife and himself had joined a dream interpret group and we were encouraged to write down our dreams as they occurred. "Be as detailed as you can," we were told. He was thrilled. If there is one thing he enjoys it's making people believe him and he likes to exaggerate. Not a big exaggeration or an outright lie mind you, just a little step out of sync, just enough so you couldn't be sure if it were true or not. When he writes, he always write with the effort of "it could happen" very much in mind and nothing, he guarantees you, nothing, makes him happier. He has consistently placed in the top 3 in 189 writing contest in a variety of genres and has been featured in magazines a couple of times to raise money for Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
