Somewhere with you by Britney KingSynopsis LogoThis is the tale of first and last loves. And those that come in between…Jack Harrison is a relentless overachiever who leaves little in the way of compromise. A businessman to the core—he’s hell-bent on being at the top of the food chain. After all, no one can trip you up if you’re on top, as he likes to say. The problem for Jack is there’s only one thing that continually trips him up—and that’s her.Amelie Rose, with a name like poetry and a heart of gold, as her father always said, is a free-spirited photographer who has managed to land a job at one of the top travel magazines in the world. This is both a blessing and a curse since Amelie never stays in one place for long and has refused to commit to anything—ever. It might seem to the casual observer that these two have almost nothing in common. But fate would disagree. The story chronicles Jack and Amelie’s lives from childhood into adulthood, beginning when they meet as then eight- and ten-year-olds at summer camp specifically designed for children who’ve lost too much.As fate steps in, and that first summer seals the deal, they come to depend on each other in ways neither of them expected, with each summer bringing them closer than the last. As they come to terms with life and loss, with hanging on and letting go, they’ll teach each other that some bonds are meant to last. Together, they will travel the world, meeting in various places where they’ll come together, and fall apart, all the while struggling to discern if the other could possibly be the one. This unlikely love story takes us on an adventure where two people come of age, fall in and out of love, and question the role timing plays in it all.Their story is proof that neither time nor distance—perhaps not even death—can destroy what love creates. So it seems the only question left to ask is whether love is enough? Playlist Logo Spotify trans Excerpt LogoMy Dearest Jack,If you’re reading this, then you’ve probably just had your heartbroken for the first time. Or at least it feels that way, anyway. But I want you to remember, son, that this isn’t the first time (nor will it likely be the last) that you’ve felt this way. You’ve been through so much already, and if you’re reading my letter, then obviously, you’ve survived thus far. And while it may not feel like it just now, you’ll survive this, too. There are so many things I want to tell you about love, Jack. Oh, how I wish I were there to tell you this in person, to hug you, and hold your hand. Though,I’m guessing at this age, you might not like hand holding so much anymore. I try to picture you, what you look like now, where you are as you’re reading this, and it brings me so much joy to think of you all grown up. I looked in on you tonight as I’ve done every night since the day you were born, and as I watched you sleep, I pictured the man you’ll become. It’s hard not to feel a little bit bitter knowing I won’t be there to see it all. Oddly enough, though, it is with that sentiment that I want to tell you about love. If you are reading this and your heart is broken, you are lucky, Jack. I want you to pause a moment and let that really sink in. You are so damned lucky. Feeling this way, it means that you are living and more importantly—that you are loving. You cannot know how lucky you are to love until you’ve felt the immense pain of having to let that love go. It is a part of life. And as I am learning, it is also a part of death. Do not waste it. Do not play small. Lick your wounds, but then get back out there. Love harder next time. Most people don’t do that, you see. They get hurt once, and they hide behind it. They use it to excuse themselves into living guarded lives, never quite feeling the passion, the love that they are capable of. But not you, son. Don’t make that mistake. And I hope that if you consider taking that route, you’ll think of me and you’ll feel my love and know that even though I may have lost my battle, that I didn’t go down without a fight.Neither will you, my love.Neither will you.I love you always,MomP.S. Tips for healing a broken heart: time, above all else (don’t worry, you won’t feel this way forever), ice cream, and meaningful work. Now is the time to start a new project, Jack. Try something new, throw yourself into it, and let yourself get lost in it. You’ll come out all right in the end. You always have.Buy Links amazon-logo-80x80 Amazon UK BN-LOGO-80x80 apple ibooks 80x80 Kobo buy 80x80 Smashwords button Author Bio LogoFor those of you who prefer it straight up, no chaser: Mama to five. Writer. Juggler extraordinaire. That just about covers it...The extended version and in third person no less ;): Britney is married to a man she adores (when he isn't driving her crazy) and is the mother of FIVE pretty amazing kids, who (surprise!) also have a habit of driving her crazy. Her best guess is that it's genetic. She is the author of two novels, Bedrock and Breaking Bedrock, with plans to release a third and fourth in 2014. In addition, she founded a local network for women in 2012, which has grown to over 1200 members. Currently, she occupies a job she enjoys--serving and running Austin Women's Network. To further prove that she may in fact be certifiably insane, she decided to pursue her dreams and published her debut novel in May of 2013. Then and only then, could she consider her training to be an expert (life) juggler complete.

Imperfections by Shaniel Watson. #Romance #Giveaway "Will the love and desire I feel for the one man I've ever truly wanted destroy me? Am I willing to risk it all, for a chance at everlasting love?"

SYNOPSIS:
Who knew falling in love with my best friend had the potential to single-handedly destroy my entire family?
For as long as I could remember I've been in love with sexy, lawyer extraordinaire Nicholas Alexander. We always had a certain chemistry growing up. Especially after we shared one passionate, forbidden, perfect kiss as teenagers. For years I hoped he could look past my overprotective brothers and our age difference so we could be more than friends, I was wrong. Four years ago I left New York and my heart behind. Now I'm back to stake a claim on the only man I've ever loved. But unbeknownst to me, things are way more complicated than I could imagine when I learn he's engaged, to my sister.
Will the love and desire I feel for the one man I've ever truly wanted destroy me? Am I willing to risk it all, for a chance at everlasting love?
Catherine Reed is the one woman I couldn't have but the one I always wanted. She was my best friend’s baby sister which means she was definitely off limits to me and anyone else if I had my way. Not even having a merry-go-round of beautiful girls could stop me from wanting her. Watching her leave was hard but I knew giving in to what I wanted back then would ruin her...us. All I've ever wanted was for her to be happy and to see her beautiful smile.
I haven't gotten to where I am by always doing what's right. She's Back. I want her. I have every intention of making her Mine.

Men and I are done. Whatever entertaining notions I enjoy while screwing around with the random guys that cross my path, are exactly that. Entertaining.
I don’t want more. I’m not capable of more. More would mean feeling. Would entail wanting. Desiring. And a slew of other emotions I haven’t experienced in over three years. And it’s not due to any stupid naïve intention of trying to keep my heart from breaking, nor is it as a result of having it broken by some poor slob who should have known better.
I can’t feel. I don’t have a heart. Period. And it's going to take more than following some magic yellow brick road to get me a new one. Even if that road does lead straight to Riker ~The only soul on earth who's as close to being dead as I am... and brings me as close to being alive as I'll ever be.

glitterbase (4)
It’s been a week. One whole goddamn week. Every day I tell myself she’ll turn up before the sun does. Then, when she doesn’t, I go to work, convinced I’ll find her here when I get back. I don’t know why I tell myself such bullshit. I’ve never been much for denial in the past. For some reason this time I just can’t get a fucking grip on things. I knew it could happen. Actually, I was pretty damn sure she would bolt as soon as I told her everything. I don’t even know why I knew that, other than she’s a creature of flight who lives in constant fear of being the cause of someone else’s pain.
Ironic, really. Considering how much she’s fucking hurting me by being gone. Only she can’t see that. Or maybe she does. I don’t know. I just know she believes staying will hurt me more than leaving. She’s fucked up in the head that way. Fucked up in the heart. Fucked up to her very core. And if I ever find the bastard who fucked her up, I’ll kill him.
Her flight for California departs in less than five days. I’m guessing Kirsten will show up on day six to collect all of the stuff Quinn couldn’t carry on foot when she left here in the middle of the night. I had half a mind to offer her a ride, but she seemed hell-bent on sneaking out, so eventually, I just faked sleep to make it easier on her. But it’s been a motherfucking week. And I’m done faking sleep and making shit easier for her. If she wants out, I’m going to make her tell me. To my face. And then I’m going to convince her she’s wrong.

Dog Lover who likes her pastries full of cream and sugar….oh…and I write some ;-)

Aside from being an author, I am also a mom to a beautiful 5 year old little girl. I tell everyone I named her after my great-grandmother (because that’s the mature answer), but really, I named her after my favorite princess – just so happens I got lucky and they had the same name…If I wasn’t a writer, I would work on a horse ranch – I’m an animal lover (in addition to dogs, horses are at the top of my list). I wear flip-flops pretty much everywhere I go. I would rather stay awake until 5 am than get up at 5 am (years of bar tending have left their mark), if I can, I’m going to the beach AND I will always be nice to people who bring me chocolate…or coffee…if you bring me both, I’ll probably love you forever.A gypsy at heart, I write the way I live, following the story wherever it may lead, always ready to start the next one. This is clearly reflected in my body of work which to date includes everything from Children’s Lit to Thrillers.

I happily reside in sunny Florida (for now) and always enjoy hearing from fellow readers!!

“Interesting reading?”
Lilly jerked her head up. “Evan!” She shoved the letter on the desk behind her and straightened. “What are you doing here?”
“This is my home.” A brow rose.
Having discarded his jacket somewhere, his necktie hung loosely around his collar and the first few buttons on his shirt were undone. That familiar pang of need rolled through her at the sight of a little taut flesh. With his mussed hair and lazy smile, he reminded her of how he looked after their lovemaking.
“I didn’t expect you back until tomorrow.” She clasped her hands together and eyed him warily.
“I caught the late train and walked from the station.” He stepped fully into the room and shut the door.
“Walked? But it’s two miles at least.”
“It is.” Evan closed the gap between them until they were only a pace apart. “But I found myself eager to come back.”
“Why?” His close proximity forced her to crane her neck. Lilly swallowed as he searched her gaze and yet again she found him unreadable.
His expression shuttered and she noted a brief stiffening of his body but he remained close. “What are you doing in here? I keep it locked for a reason.”

“Dance with me, Mackenzie,” he said, holding my hand in his, sensually placing the other just below my hip bone. “What are you−” “Shhh…,” he admonished, expertly leading me in our dance, the band playing Cole Porter’s Every Time We Say Goodbye. “Just enjoy it and don’t think.” I simply nodded, turning my head to scan the restaurant. “Mackenzie, eyes on me. I need to know you’re with me.” I snapped my eyes back to his, my mouth slightly agape as my heart pounded in my chest. He was warm and spellbinding. The way he held me in his arms comforted me and made me feel as if they were made to hold me. “Are you with me?” he asked, raising his eyebrows. “Yes,” I said, my voice soft. He leaned toward me and the bit of stubble on his chin brushed my skin. “Yes what?” he whispered. “I’m with you.” The corners of his lips turned up slightly and there was a spark about him that wasn’t present yesterday. “I like the sound of that, Miss Delano.” He pulled me closer and I tilted my head to peer into his striking eyes, needing the connection I felt at that moment. It was unlike anything I had ever experienced, all because of a well-placed hand, a sinfully sexy voice, eyes that made me want to melt, and arms that felt like home. “Who would have thought that the Mackenzie whose lips I couldn’t stop seeing in my dreams last night would turn out to be Mackenzie Delano, proprietor of South Padre’s hottest new spot?” “How did−” “Shhh,” he said once more. “You think too much. Just enjoy the moment because it’s over once the band plays the final note to this melody.” I snapped my mouth shut, a strange awareness of loss washing over me at the prospect of this complete stranger walking away from me once the song came to an end, wondering if I would ever see him again. “You’re a lovely dancer, Miss Delano,” he commented. “Thank you,” I answered, unsure of whether to say anything further. He seemed to be in complete control of the dance, of his words…and of mine. And, for the first time, I was okay with someone else calling the shots. “You have a dancer’s body. I’m confident you’ve bewitched quite a few men with the way you can seamlessly navigate the dance floor.” He leaned toward me and whispered, “I must confess… You’ve bewitched me.” His voice was sweet as it crooned in my ear, and I was left a silent, blubbering mute, the sincerity in his declaration sparking a renewed sense of longing I had ignored for years. My breathing grew ragged, and I was unable to formulate any response. I simply lost myself in the moment of our dance, wanting his sensual words to ring in the recesses of my mind for all eternity. I wished I could have recorded his voice murmuring those endearing words to me so I could replay them over and over again when I needed to feel something I didn’t think I would ever feel again. He molded my frame to his, our bodies swaying to the classic tune, and began to sing along with the band. I imagined he was singing to me, and me alone. His voice was deep and guttural, but sweet as he leaned toward my neck and crooned the last verse into my ear. I closed my eyes, losing myself in his warmth, his voice, his everything. All too soon, the final note rang out, silence encompassing the room, but we continued to sway to the music in our heads, our rhythm perfectly in tune to each other. A loud drum kick echoed, startling me, and I opened my eyes, almost expecting it all to be a dream. But it wasn’t, and I was met with my mysterious stranger’s strong face. Time stood still as we simply stared at each other, neither one of us moving. I licked my dry lips, nerves causing my breathing to grow more intense and labored. He grabbed my hand and brought it to his soft lips, placing a kiss on it. The contact caused a rush of adrenaline to run through me. Before I could ask his name, he was gone, leaving me stunned and alone once more.

A tiny little twitch upward at the corners of her mouth at that statement made him groan. "Just this once in my life I want to have something start right. I want it to go the way it's supposed to. I want a preacher to say the words over us, then he'll tell us to kiss and I can take you home and make love to my wife all night long."

Letting go of her arms, Munk watched as she crossed both arms over her chest. "It's because of your mother. That's the reason you want to wait?"

Running both hands through his hair, he looked down at his shoes. "Partially, I guess. Ya, I've screwed other girls. I didn't think I had a hope in hell of winding up with you. After I figured out there might be a chance, I haven't been with another woman. I want it to be right. I want us to be shiny and bright like that bracelet is now, not like it's going to be when it tarnishes."

Her bare feet shuffled closer to him and Munk found his head pillowed against her chest. "I'm so sorry, love. I didn't understand. We'll do it your way. I don't want you to ever feel that way again."

Without thinking about it, his arms went around her. "What way?" he whispered.

"Like you don't matter. Like you're not good enough." Long, delicate fingers combed through his hair. The scent of her rose into his nostrils and he was almost in heaven. "You are a good man and I love you, Munro Lowell Riley. I love everything about you. But, can we at least get married as soon as this miserable job is over? Please?"

Pulling slightly backward, he looked up to find her face turned toward him. "If you get out of this dive. If we go to Palmer on your day off, we can get the damn license and swear to God, the day after I'm away from here we can get married. You can stay in the cabin and set the whole thing up. Have it at the Great grans’ place. I don't care who you invite, but the minute the ceremony is over, we're gone."

"But how are we going to get out of here? You don't have your truck, do you?"

"I'll get us out of here. Let me handle that. How about you tell me what brought this sex thing on? We've never had this come up before."

Della held his head in both hands and kissed him sweetly on the lips, then the forehead, before tugging him against her chest. "I had a dream. I had to go take a shower after it was over."

Breaking away from her, he stood and pushed her hair behind her ears. "You mean like a wet dream. You got hot for me?"

Cheeks flooding with color, Della nodded. "Yes. And I got tired of being everybody's good little girl. I asked Sandy about it and she told me guys like blowjobs."

The color in her cheeks deepened. "She said I was asking the wrong person 'cause she's into girls. And Sandy said I was a hottie."

"She didn't do anything, did she?"

"No. She said she wasn't a cheat and she has a partner at home. But she said a threesome might be fun."

The look on Della's face was so serious, Munk had a hard time holding in a laugh. "Okay, as long as she keeps her hands to herself, we're good."

Taking her wrists in his hands, Munk slowly backed Della toward the bed. "What did you do in the shower, Della? How did you fix it?"

Although born in New Orleans, I am proud to call myself an Alaskan. I have lived here since 1977. I have seen -40 degrees, hauled water, made bear bacon and I live in a cabin. I have used a fishwheel to catch salmon coming up the Copper River. I was my second husband's chief mechanic's helper and roadie. I have cut firewood on shares. I worked as a cocktail waitress during pipeline days in a small lodge on the Richardson Highway.
My second husband, a Scot from Glasgow, was the love of my life. When I write Scots dialect, I personally experienced hearing it from my in laws. When my husband got on the phone to Scotland, after 5 seconds I could barely understand a word.
We moved to Wasilla to get warm. It barely drops past -25 degrees here in the winter. I became a paralegal and worked for over 26 years for the same firm.
Alaska is my home. I never thought I would love it so much, I never want to leave. The beauty of Alaska is a draw I cannot resist. I love the people and the history. I have been captured by a place I came to under duress. Life does play some interesting tricks on one. My love and I were not apart more than 24 hours for 20 plus years. I never wanted to be anywhere but with him. He was a man to run the river with and was my biggest fan.

Into the unknown by Lorna Peel. Learn more about this remarkable women and the lives they lived thru the pen of Lorna Peel.

The WAAF During World War Two
The Women's Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF) was established in 1939 by King George VI and was linked with the RAF so that RAF personnel could be substituted for women whenever possible.
Originally the roles of the women in the WAAF were domestic duties such as cooking and driving. Women were not allowed to fly and their general capabilities were often doubted in the early stages of the war. During the Battle of Britain, however, the RAF were under huge strain and this led to a change of role for the WAAF. It became crucial for the WAAF to take on more technical tasks, and they were trained in operating teleprinters—like Into The Unknown’s Kate Sheridan—radar plotting, the maintenance of barrage balloons and the interpretation of photographs.
There were approximately seven thousand WAAFs based at Fighter Command airbases such as Biggin Hill during the summer of 1940. These bases were targets in raids by the Luftwaffe in the Battle of Britain and without the diligent work and bravery of the WAAF, the RAF would have struggled to cover all necessary roles, which could have had a bearing on the British victory. Through their outstanding work the women in the WAAF proved that women were fully capable of aiding and contributing to the British war effort but also to the general role of women in British society.
Excerpt:
At the Sector Station, Kate sank down on her bed and groaned. Jean had followed her into their hut and stared.
“You look awful, Kate,” she commented.
Kate rubbed her eyes. “So would you if you had on average only three hours sleep per night in a week.”
Jean nodded. “I heard it was bad.”
“It was awful. The first night, Charlie and I were nearly killed. A bomb landed only a couple of gardens away.”
Jean winced. “How is Charlie? Still as handsome as ever?”
“Yes.” Kate smiled, remembering that night in the shelter. “But he’s so tired now. Any gossip here?”
“Daniel ‘Paddy’ Connelly’s gone.”
“Gone?”
“Posted away. He tried it on with Wilma, Rachel and Teresa. He’s in bombers now, somewhere in Group Twelve, but away from here, thank God.”
“Yes.” Kate closed her eyes. “I thought he was dead.”
“I thought you hated him?”
“I do, but I wouldn’t wish him dead. Oh.” She groaned again. “What time is it?”
“Half past seven.”
“Right, I’m going straight to bed,” she told Jean. “I need a good night’s sleep, I’m all in.”
“All right, we’re going to need all the sleep we can get. I think we’re going to be put on nights.”
Kate stared at her friend in dismay before flopping back onto the bed, too tired to even swear.
Unfortunately, Jean was right. They were put on the night shift. Reports flooded in on the teleprinters, and Kate found herself too busy to be tired.
“We’ll be on the go tonight.” Squadron Leader Brown reached over, taking a bundle of reports from her, and hurried into the Operations Room.
Inside the room, she could see the map of her sector, then a couple of rows of raised seating where messages were passed down to the map plotters. Behind those seats sat the officers who made the decisions. Where was Charlie, she wondered as another report began to come through. The report was from Fighter Command HQ. “Here, sir,” she called to Brown as he came out again and handed him the report.
He scanned it, then frowned. “Damn,” he muttered, but smiled at her anxious face. “Take a break, Sheridan.”
She nodded and gave her seat to Wilma Pinner. She went outside, taking a breath of fresh air, and glanced to the horizon. She stared, her heart leaping into her mouth. The horizon was lit up by an orange glow. It was as if all of London was on fire, and somewhere in the middle of it all was Charlie.
The night was long and demanding. By six in the morning, Kate and Jean were exhausted, but they concluded there had been worse nights, before falling into bed.
Night after night at the teleprinter followed before Kate and Jean were put on day shifts and told, to their delight, that they had leave due.

Guest Post: Today I have the dynamic author, Lloyd Lofthouse on my blog. The Redemption of Don Juan Casanova. #Crime #Fiction #Mystery #Thriller #Suspense

Guest Post Why did you choose this topic for this book?  The answer to that question is complicated and starts with me as an infant. The themes running through The Redemption of Don Juan Casanovadeals  with the collision between a sexual education and religion—often seen as a sin by many religious sects, because those same themes ran through my childhood like an invisible super highway. My mother was extremely religious. As an infant, I was baptized a Catholic and attended kindergarten through first grade in a Catholic school with tough, no nonsense nuns as my teachers. All I remember to this day was the ruler one nun used to whack us across the knuckles if our printing and/or cursive writing wasn’t perfect, and then we had to go to the corner, kneel and pray to Mary for forgiveness. My father, on the other hand, was an alcoholic and a gambler, but he did work in construction and earned enough to pay off a house and feed his family. He also went to church each Sunday with my mother but refused to be baptized by any religion. Later in my life I’d learn that my father had a number of sexual affairs with other women that my mother refused to believe even though the evidence was strongly in favor of his guilt. In fact, he had an affair with my Catholic godmother whose husband often picked up women in bars and had affairs, but in Catholicism such sins are easily forgiven through weekly confessions that go along with your weekly contribution to the Church during Sunday mass. Then when I was twelve, my mother converted from Catholicism to the Jehovah Witnesses and that was when we stopped celebrating Easter, Christmas and everyone’s birthdays. As far as the topic of sex was concerned, joining the Jehovah Witnesses was my mother jumping out of a frying pan into a blazing fire, because the Catholic Church forgave our mortal sins through confession but the Witnesses didn’t.My parents dropped out of high school at age 14 during the Great Depression, but they were both avid readers. My father loved mysteries and westerns, and my mother focused on sanitized romances where holding hands and maybe a brief kiss at the end was standard practice as the girl always got the right guy. If my mother was reading a book and ran into a sex scene—no matter how it was written—she stopped reading and tossed the book in the fire without an explanation because any topic about sex and sexually was never mentioned in our home to the point where it wasn’t even forbidden.  In fact, talking about the birds and the bees didn’t exist, but that didn’t protect me from the hormones that hit when I was age twelve or thirteen. I was totally unprepared for that collision and spent my adolescence living in guilt for what I was feeling and thinking about girls. My fumbling misdirected sexual education started after I left home and joined the U.S. Marines right out of high school and ended up in Southeast Asia fighting in one of America’s endless wars.  That education would stretch for seventeen years culminating in an MFA during the early 1980s when I was teaching days in the public schools and working nights and weekends as a maître d’ in a palace of a nightclub-restaurant combination in Southern California called the Red Onion—that chain lost its liquor license and went bankrupt in the 1990s.  The description of the Aphrodisiacs Academy, the nightclub in The Redemption of Don Juan Casanova, was modeled after the Red Onion where I worked. While earning the MFA, one of my research papers focused on the art of seduction, and I used the night club as my own personal laboratory to see if what I was learning from scientific studies worked. In short, yes, what the scientists discovered was correct. This novel came out of a question I asked myself after I left that maître d’ job in the bar and nightclub industry that rakes in about $24 billion annually—an industry with more than 70,000 businesses that employs almost 400,000 people, a sector that is mostly about sex and seduction.– http://www.ibisworld.com/industry/def... Instead of sex being a forbidden and a never talked about topic as it was in my childhood, what happens when sex and seduction is the focus of a child’s life, because it’s the family’s business and tradition?
Instead of writing about my life as a child, I wanted to write about a child who grew up in a family that was totally different from mine. In other words, he grew up learning from his parents and grandparents everything it took me seventeen years on my own to learn after I left home. Even the string of murders in the novel is linked to that war between religion and our libidos.

Praise for 'Running With the Enemy' by Lloyd Lofthouse:Runner Up in General Fiction: 2013 Beach Book Festival Honorable Mentions in General Fiction: 2014 Los Angeles Book Festival 2013 San Francisco Book Festival 2013 Hollywood Book Festival 2013 New York Book Festival "Obviously drawn from the author's first-hand experiences as a Marine serving in Vietnam, Running with the Enemy is a rough but occasionally heartfelt war story. ... The book is sometimes too obviously drawn from his experience. But ultimately that's a small complaint about a book that, on the whole, is quite good and has a lot to say about the nature of the conflict ." - 21st Annual Writer's Digest Self-Published Book Awards commentary from an anonymous judge "This book grabbed hold of me. It has left me knowing just how horrific conditions were for those who fought in Vietnam, and I applaud those who survived."-Lisa Binion, The News In Books “I found Running with the Enemy captivating and well worth reading and enjoyed such a different type of historical novel from Mr. Lofthouse than his previous. Since Mr. Lofthouse is a former Marine and Vietnam veteran, I am sure he drew from some of his personal experiences and I shudder to think of some of these experiences.”- M. Denise C. “Running With the Enemy is a gut-wrenching page-turner at once a historical rendering of the Vietnam-American war, a suspense-thriller involving the framing of an innocent man forced to go on the run, and a passionate love story. As an historical novel, it renders an intricate tapestry of the era, the geography, and the several cultures in confrontation at that time. As a suspense-thriller it grips on page one and keeps your heart racing page after page with hardly a paragraph of relief. As a war story, it depicts war as the bloody, hell that it is–a place in which the mettle of the honorable is tested and honed in the same landscape where sociopaths thrive and reach the heights of power and influence. As a love story, it portrays the way a bond between two hearts can transcend race, religion, politics, national identity and family loyalty, defying all convention, tradition, prejudice and law to claim their right to have each other. The characters are all deftly drawn and believable and if they exist beyond a page or two they will leave their mark on the reader who has come to care about them whether it is to love them, admire them, hate them or simply be amused by them. I can wholeheartedly recommend Running With the Enemy as a story that rewards the time and effort invested. Its impact will linger long after the last page is turned.”-Joystory
Praise for 'My Splendid Concubine':Finalist in Fiction & Literature: Historical Fiction: The National "Best Books 2010" Awards, December 2010 Honorable Mentions in General Fiction: 2012 San Francisco Book Festival 2012 New York Book Festival 2012 London Book Festival 2013 DIY Book Festival “My Splendid Concubine is packed cover to cover with intriguing characters and plot, a must read for historical fiction fans and a fine addition to any collection on the genre.” Midwest Book Review “Lloyd Lofthouse believes Hart was motivated to destroy his papers not out of shame but out of privacy: ‘What he had with Ayaou was something special he wanted to keep to himself. I don’t think he would approve of My Splendid Concubine … but we live in a different age than Victorian England. I feel that this love story deserves to be told.’ ”- Anneli Rufus , East Bay Express “Historical fiction potboiler, yes. But where the `Concubine’ saga truly shines is its thought-provoking passages on relationships, attitudes and cultural differences.”-Tom Carter, author of China: Portrait of a People “Told in descriptive detail and such beauty of the Chinese culture that I did not want it the story to end. A very well written and impeccably researched story that I highly recommend to the historical fiction fan. A lot of history but not written like a history book. This book does have a lot of sexual content in it but told in a very tasteful way. I really enjoyed this book.”- Kathleen Kelly, Celtic Lady
