Excerpt

Celeste began sobbing uncontrollably. She struggled to see the road ahead of her through tear-filled eyes. The landscape became a fuzzy blur of moonlight and shadowy trees. The world around her spun into an unrecognizable mix of darkness streaked with occasional rays of dim light. As she drove blindly ahead, she felt as if she were plunging into nothingness. And she didn’t even care.

She would have continued in her oblivious state, but somehow, out of nowhere, she heard a very clear and distinct male voice pop into her head. She thought that surely she must have imagined it, because it sounded like Connor.

Pay attention.

Suddenly a deer darted out in front of her, its startled eyes aglow from the blazing gold headlights. Blood pulsed through her veins as she abruptly swerved her car to the right, narrowly missing the animal. With her heart still pounding, she took a deep breath and tried to regain her composure.

“That was close,” she said aloud to herself. “Stay focused, Celeste. Keep it together.”

Although she was alone in her car, she noticed a distinct presence. It felt like Connor was somehow with her. First the voice, and now this? Surely she must be losing her mind! Even so, she had an irresistible urge to talk to him. Maybe it was silly or useless, but she couldn’t fight this desire brimming inside of her. She didn’t just want communication with her deceased former love; she needed it—even if it was one-sided. She began to have a conversation as if he were right there with her.

“I’m so sorry,” she sobbed. “I’m sorry I didn’t stay in touch with you and try to be a part of your life in some way. I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you or able to help you. I’m sorry for the night I left you. I’m sorry I didn’t let you get closer to me or tell you that I love you. I’m just so sorry.”

Tears streamed down Celeste’s face like the rain on a shiny glass window, and she gasped for air. What she wanted most right now was to know that Connor still existed somehow, somewhere. She wanted proof that his spirit lived on. She wanted to know that he was alive and well in heaven. Although she had been raised Christian, her faith had faded as she’d grown older. Life’s circumstances, unanswered prayers, and the cynical, materialistic world around her had left Celeste with doubts and questions. She now wondered if God and the afterlife even existed at all. She wanted to believe. She just didn’t know how.

Right after she spoke to Connor, a song came on the radio. The words caught her attention, and she stopped crying long enough to listen. It was a tune by Nickelback titled “Someday.”

For a brief moment, Celeste noticed a tingling sensation run down her spine. She felt like Connor was speaking directly to her through this song. It felt as if he were trying to respond to her. Were the words to this song meant for her? Did he somehow hear her cries? Was he trying to tell her he was going to help her in some way?

“No,” thought Celeste. “You’re being ridiculous. This is all just a coincidence. Connor can’t hear you or help you—he’s dead.”

Somehow, even though her rational, logical mind told her this, her heart told her otherwise. Maybe Connor really was alive in the afterlife. Maybe he really could hear her. She needed to know the truth. She wanted answers.

Author Interview

Did you always wanted to be a writer? If not what did you want to be?

I have wanted to be a writer since childhood when I began writing poems and short stories and received an honorable mention in my first Young Author’s contest. There was a time when I also considered becoming an astronomer because I loved stars and planets, but ultimately being a writer is what came easily to me.

When did you first consider yourself a “writer”?

Although I’ve been a writer most of my life, I didn’t consider myself an “official” writer until I landed my first professional writing job. When I was in my 20s, I became a staff writer for Campbell-Ewald Advertising’s custom publishing group. It was at that point, there was no doubt in my mind that I was truly a writer.

How long did it take to get your first book published?

Writing a book was a lifelong dream of mine. I began writing my first book, From Pain to Parenthood: A Journey Through Miscarriage to Adoption, in 2012. It took just over a year to write the book and have it published.

Do you do another job except for writing and can you tell us more about it?

I don’t have another job. When I’m not working on book-related activities, I’m a part-time professional writer. Writing is who I am and what I do. I have held other positions before I established my writing career, including bakery clerk, baker, cashier, office clerk and desktop publisher.

What is the name of your latest book, and if you had to summarize it in less than 20 words what would you say?

The latest book I’m writing is a follow-up novel to Echoes of Paradise. My working title was Visions of Mortality, but I recently decided on the official title, Sara’s Soul. If I had to summarize Sara’s Soul in less than 20 words, I would say: Suicidal psychic meets the one person who could save her life. Can he reach her in time?

Who is your publisher? Or do you self-publish?

I chose to self-publish my books. I loved being able to bring them to market rather quickly and also liked having creative control over my projects. Self-publishing was a great experience for me, and I’m glad I did it. I received validation that I’m on the right track when From Pain to Parenthood was named a finalist in the Next Generation Indie Book Awards in May.

How long does it usually take you to write a book, from the original idea to finishing writing it?

My first book took a little over a year to write, but my second was much quicker (about 6-8 months). I think 6 months to a year is a reasonable timeframe for me to complete a book.

What can we expect from you in the future?  ie More books of the same genre? Books of a different genre?

I’m a versatile writer and can easily switch gears to tackle a variety of topics and genres. So far I have written a non-fiction memoir, a paranormal novel and a children’s book. Out of the three genres, I discovered that I loved the paranormal genre the most. You can definitely expect to see another book of this type from me in the future. As I mentioned, I’m already working on it. It’s called Sara’s Soul and will be part of my Afterlife Series. Expected publication is early 2015.

What genre would you place your books into?

Echoes of Paradise and my upcoming book, Sara’s Soul, are both paranormal romance / visionary fiction books.

What made you decide to write that genre of book?

I choose to write visionary fiction / paranormal romance because of my own personal experiences with signs, synchronicity and messages from deceased friends and loved ones.

Do you have a favorite character from your books? And why are they your favorite?

Connor is my favorite character. I love that he is trying to reach out to the woman he loves after death. To think that love really can transcend death and that those who pass can and do communicate with us is comforting, uplifting and inspiring.

How long have you been writing?, and who or what inspired you to write?

I have been writing since childhood. My 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Clark, was the person who inspired me to write more. She loved a story I wrote for class and was very encouraging. She made me realize at a young age that I had a gift that needed to be shared with the world.

Do you have a certain routine you have for writing? ie You listen to music, sit in a certain chair?

I do a lot of writing in my head, while lying in bed or in the shower. When I actually sit down to write, I’m usually at my computer in the living room. I prefer a quiet environment, with as few distractions as possible. Occasionally, I will bring a laptop along and do some writing on the go.

Do you read all the reviews of your book/books?

Yes, I do. I want to know what readers think because it helps me to further develop as a writer. Without feedback, it’s difficult to know what to change in your next book. I know not everyone will love what I write, and I appreciate constructive criticism.

Do you choose a title first, or write the book then choose the title?

I usually begin writing the book before deciding on a final title. I have some ideas in mind, but the first title I come up with is usually not the one I end up using.

Are there any hidden messages or morals contained in your books? (Morals as in like Aesops Fables type of "The moral of this story is..")

Definitely. I write to make a difference in people’s lives and to inspire them. I wouldn’t be able to do that without some sort of message or moral. One of the key messages in Echoes of Paradise is that there is so much more to life than we can see or touch. In my recently published children’s book, A Rare Gem, the message is that it’s okay to be yourself and that every person is unique and special.

Which format of book do you prefer, eBook, hardback, or paperback?

I prefer paperback. I like something I can get my hands on and read anytime, anywhere without a computer or device.

Your favorite food is?

Pasta, with lots of cheese!

Your favorite singer/group is?

My two favorites are Journey and Def Leppard. I love 80s rock music.

Your favorite color is?

Blue / Purple

Iron Horse MC, #1

Contemporary New Adult Biker Romance

M/F

Heat Level- Smoking Hot

Editor: Ekatarina Sayanova

Published by: Fated Desires Publishing

Before I met Smoke I’d never been kissed, really kissed, by a man, let alone a biker sex god bent on taking my virginity and my heart.

I got dragged into the deadly world of the Iron Horse MC by my crazy twin sister who is engaged to the club’s President and the schemes of my even crazier mom who only cares about herself. Smoke has been assigned by the club to keep me safe even though he’s everything that I should be afraid of. He’s the kind of man who lives by his own rules and does whatever he wants whenever he wants, but he treats me like I’m something rare and precious, not a socially dysfunctional basket case who has no idea how to love, but needs him more than her next breath.

Not that my feelings matter, because if we don’t find my mother soon, the only thing I’ll have to be worried about is who is going to kill me first.

About The Author

clip_image004_thumb

With over thirty published books, Ann is Queen of the Castle to her wonderful husband and three sons in the mountains of West Virginia. In her past lives she's been an Import Broker, a Communications Specialist, a US Navy Civilian Contractor, a Bartender/Waitress, and an actor at the Michigan Renaissance Festival. She also spent a summer touring with the Grateful Dead-though she will deny to her children that it ever happened.

From a young age she's been fascinated by myths and fairytales, and the romance that   often  was the center of the story. As Ann grew older and her hormones kicked in, she discovered trashy romance novels. Great at first, but she soon grew tired of the endless stories with a big wonderful emotional buildup to really short and crappy sex. Never a big fan of purple prose, throbbing spears of fleshy pleasure and wet honey pots make her giggle, she sought out books that gave the sex scenes in the story just as much detail and plot as everything else-without using cringe worthy euphemisms. This led her to the wonderful world of Erotic Romance, and she's never looked back.

Now Ann spends her days trying to tune out cartoons playing in the background to get into her 'sexy space' and has accepted that her Muse has a severe case of ADD.

Ann loves to talk with her fans, as long as they realize she's weird and that sarcasm doesn't translate well via text. You can find her at:

blurb Years in the cutthroat L.A. music industry have Kit Maggio yearning for love and acceptance in her hometown, Audubon Springs. Her position as a Theater Arts professor doesn't erase years of being shoved aside by her family. Her baby sister is getting married, and her high school sweetheart doesn't recognize her. Will she ever find what she needs?
Vince Iuliano never imagined he'd be a single dad. Vowing no woman will ever again break his daughter's heart, he focuses on providing a happy and stable home. But when the love of his life rents the house next door, can he take a chance on happiness?
Vince never forgot Kit. Setting out to earn her forgiveness, they fall back into the rhythm of love and heat, much like the songs they wrote as teens. When L.A. calls, will Kit go, or stay and write her greatest love song?

excerpt
Kit rubbed her eyes and swung the door open to find a bright-eyed Vince Iuliano holding a box of doughnuts.
“What are you doing ringing my doorbell?” She hissed and stepped through the door, pushing him out onto the porch in the process.
“I thought you ladies might need these.” He held up the box of doughnuts.
“Is it Advil?” Katelyn appeared at the door. “Isn’t that the guy you kissed last night?”
“No, it is not.” She shooed her away and shut the door.
“I think you forgot something at the bar,” Vince said.
“What’s that?”
“Your dignity?”
“Look, it was a dare! I had to kiss the next guy who walked through the door. I took one for the team.”
He stared for a long moment then reached out and touched her sticky hair. “The party continue here last night?”
“You have a lot of nerve ringing my doorbell when you know what kind of shape I’m in right now.” Vince smiled. “Jerk. Are those for me?” She nodded to the doughnuts.
“They might be.”
“If you’re here for an apology, forget it. I’m not going to apologize.”
“Good. Did it seem like I was complaining?”
A rush of heat on her skin against the brisk morning air caused goose bumps to rise on her skin. Dear God in heaven, he was flirting. “I’m not sure. I can’t remember.” It was a lie. Even through her drunken haze and fuzzy memory, she recalled with startling clarity the sizzling chemistry of that kiss. It was an experience she wanted to repeat over and over again but wouldn’t. “So, what, you tracked me down to bring me hangover doughnuts?”
“No, consider them a welcome to the neighborhood present.”
“What do you mean?”
“I’m your landlord, and your soon to be neighbor.” He motioned to the house next door where several guys unloaded windows from a truck.
“You’re joking.”
“No, it needs some work before we move in, but it shouldn’t take too long.”
“I dealt with a woman for the lease to this house. Annie O’Malley.”
“Annie O’Malley Iuliano, my sister-in-law.”
She stared, mouth gaping. “Here you go.” He handed her the doughnuts. “I don’t know how many women are passed out inside, so if it’s not enough, just let us know and we’ll get you more. Oh, and the carpet is new so if there’s any damage, please take care of it right away. Management frowns on that stuff.”
“Anything else?”
“Yeah. I’ll see you at the wedding.” He flashed a smile, his dimples winking wickedly managed to make her throat grow dry.
“Figured that out, did you?”
“Just, make sure to save a dance for me.”
“In your dreams.”

She loves her job and has made plenty of friends but longs for the acceptance only love and a family can provide.
Tony Iuliano is there to fix the wiring in her shop. He doesn't believe in fate, magic, or the power of a good book. All this combined with his sexy-as-sin presence and all-knowing attitude infuriates Annie. The quirky bookworm intrigues him enough to accept her bet to read a book from her shop. When he discovers a stack of fifty-year-old love letters in the book, he wants to leave the past alone, but seeing it as a sign, Annie challenges him to read the letters and search for the long-lost lovers or lose the bet.
While shaking the dust off several ill-fated romances and fighting their attraction at every turn, the pair soon become the town gossip daily special. If they can stop arguing long enough, they may just discover this particular sign was meant for them all along.

  Excerpt

I wake up on a bed, in what seems to be the nurse’s office. It smells of rubbing alcohol and those blue, hockey puck-looking tablets that are thrown in the toilet and turn the water blue. It doesn’t stink, but it is not helping my headache any, either. My ass hurts and my head is pounding.

Pushing myself to sit up, the room begins to spin. It adds a nauseous feeling to my problems. Moving with more precaution, I slowly reach for my head. Stopping when I see a figure moving in my peripheral vision.

I want to look, but out of fear of what I might see, I will not, because if it’s him—the hot guy that hit me in the parking lot—and I barf, this situation could get a whole lot more embarrassing.

Without turning my head, I peek out of the corners of my eyes.

There they are—those masculine, broad shoulders even a concussion cannot make you forget. Clearly!

Wait—is he sleeping? His shoulders are moving steadily and calm. He can’t be just staring at me and not saying anything. I question turning my head, not only because I don’t want him to see me look at him, but also because I fear my worsening headache.

Unable to not look, I turn my head, taking less than a second. Maybe even a millisecond.

“What are you doing?” Busted! “Practicing for the exorcist?” he retorts sarcastically.

I’m caught. What type of an excuse can I use for this? Trying not to turn my head fast to look at you, in case you were looking at me. NO!

“Um, I was, um, trying to…stretch…my…neck slowly…to avoid, making my head hurt worse,” I say stupidly, taking one word at a time, just to implicate I was saying each word as it came into my head.

He gets up from the chair and walks in my direction.

That walk. He seems to sway across the floor, his shoulders moving with each step. Left foot, right shoulder, right foot, left shoulder. I quickly peek at him, hoping he doesn’t see. I notice that he doesn’t slouch and his jaw is tight.

I look away as he gets closer. I have no idea what he is going to do or say. I do know he’s close and I want him to touch me again. As long as I don’t pass out…again.

His hands are in his pockets as he approaches the bedside. “Would you like to go get some ibuprofen for your head?” he asks, bending over, looking at my forehead. Well, I assume he’s looking at my forehead. “The nurse is still here, and she has been waiting for you to come to.” Hands still in his pockets. “You feeling okay?”

I must be looking foolishly, because he said that as if it was the second time he’d asked me. “Umm, yeah, I think so.”

“Okay, let’s go see what the nurse has for you. Maybe she can do something about your headache.” With his hands still in his pockets, he offers me his arm to grab.

Author Interview

Did you always wanted to be a writer? If not what did you want to be?

I always wanted to be a writer or a psychologist.

When did you first consider yourself a “writer”?

This happened when my first book was finished and I started writing the second.

How long did it take to get your first book published?

8 months.

Do you do another job except for writing and can you tell us more about it?

Yes, besides writing (although I write at my other job) I am in baking operations where I monitor assist with account management and get jealous when I see figures like XXX,XXX,XXX.00. SMH

What is the name of your latest book, and if you had to summarize it in less than 20 words what would you say?

My Latest book is Burdened. 20 words or less: A riveting novel that will send readers on a ride of thrill and suspense with a romantic core.

Who is your publisher? Or do you self-publish?

I self-pub

How long does it usually take you to write a book, from the original idea to finishing writing it?

Three months tops (not including rereads) depending on how many books I’m writing.

What can we expect from you in the future?  ie More books of the same genre? Books of a different genre?

In the near future there is a sci-fi/paranormal novel releasing. A little less romance than my current book Burdened. And of course the remaining books in the series A Burdened Novel.

What genre would you place your books into?

Paranormal romance.

What made you decide to write that genre of book?

I love romance with a twist and supernatural characters and activities.

Do you have a favorite character from your books? And why are they your favorite?

Nathan from Burdened was my fav until I wrote Marc (from Diminish) and his characteristics flooded onto the pages. He is certain about everything and things must be done a certain way in order for him to adhere to them. He became my favorite when he said, “So I can be sure and have you and not feel guilty about it. And not pull you and then push you away. But then…I want for you to walk away, leave me alone and take my interest in you and the temptation for you away with you because I know who and what I am and my real wants don't matter.” To Kylie.

How long have you been writing?, and who or what inspired you to write?

I have been writing for thirteen years starting off with poetry.

Do you have a certain routine you have for writing? ie You listen to music, sit in a certain chair?

This comfy spot of my couch where the cushions separate, with my legs crossed Indian style, and the laptop in my lap. (The best scenes and characters come to me when I’m like that.) And yes, the music is playing soft so it’s not distracting but loud enough for me hear and subconsciously nod my head to the beat.

Do you read all the reviews of your book/books?

Yes, I like to know what the readers thought about it. Negative or positive.

Do you choose a title first, or write the book then choose the title?

I write the book and then choose the title.

Are character names and place names decided after their creation? Or do you pick a character/place name and then invent them?

My characters are invented first, and then they are named. It just happens this way. Unless it’s a character that is in a book for one scene, they will be named and forgotten. The places of my books are usually picked first and then the story is written, unless they move around in the book.

Do you decide on character traits (ie shy, quiet, tomboy girl) before writing the whole book or as you go along?

My characters traits are mostly written as I go along. But for another book I’m working on I figured out the traits and then created the character.

Are there any hidden messages or morals contained in your books? (Morals as in like Aesops Fables type of "The moral of this story is..")

The hidden message in my series for Burdened is… we have to be careful of the choices we make. Yes, we only get one life to live and we want to make the most out of it. But we also want to make sure we maintain our life which could be subjective to the choices we make in our life.

Which format of book do you prefer, eBook, hardback, or paperback?

I would prefer eBooks. They are conveniently located on my phone and I carry them with me everywhere.

Do you think books transfer to movies well? Which is you favorite/worst book to movie transfer?

They don’t there always feels like there is something missing when a book is turned into a book. But I like what they did with the Hunger Game and Fault of Our Stars. Both of those wowed me when comparing them to the book. Also A Walk to Remember and we can’t forget the Notebook.

Your favorite food is?

I love peanut butter.

Your favorite singer/group is?

These change frequently, right now I’m loving Bruno Mars and slow shifting to Sam Smith. For group I’m Imagine Dragons all the way.

Your favorite color is?

Burnt orange

Your favorite Author is?

My fav author alive is Stephen King.

Fortune has smiled on seventeen year old Aileen McCormick ever since Addison came back into her life, giving her the love she has so desperately longed for. That is, until a mysterious man slithers across her path and slips a spellbinding cameo around her neck. The cameo holds more than just the image of an enchantress who hungers for souls. It possesses a curse that strangles away every memory Aileen has of Addison.

Addison, a three hundred year old fugitive from the netherworld, recognizes the wretched woman inside the cameo and the curse she has cast on his unsuspecting love. The enchanted cameo has but one purpose: to torment Aileen with hints of love she can no longer recall.

Aileen cannot escape the deadly cameo. She runs for her life with the curse only a breath away. If she truly wants her memory back, the enchantress is all too willing to restore it. It will cost her, though. Cost her everything.

  Excerpt

Chapter 1

I couldn’t remember the last time I had been afraid of the dark. It seemed like a lifetime ago, when shadows and demons consumed me at night, when the end of the world was but a breath away. That was all before I met Addison.

From the very moment I literally fell into his arms, I had fallen hopelessly in love with him. Hopelessly, carelessly, eternally in love with him. And he loved me back.

Addison Wake had become my entire life, my reason for living. I breathed in his love and exhaled his name. My heart beat a passionate rhythm to which only he marched. He danced into my dreams, stealing me away into the stars at the witching hour. Since he had come back to me we had been inseparable.

The last amber leaves of autumn waved goodbye to the worst and best year of my life. The year I lost my home, my friends, everything I thought I needed to live. The year I discovered a grandmother I hardly knew. The year I found new friends. The year I fell in love.

The calendar gloated that Christmas was less than a month away, but who cared? I looked forward to the first day of winter. Or rather the longest night of the year. Ever since finding out Santa was just a figment of my parents’ imagination, I didn’t have much use for the yuletide. But I had always loved that long and wonderful night. Addison had already set a date for that night, promising to take me to an air show in the day and onto the rooftop at night to teach me the constellations.

It was kind of embarrassing, but I had never really learned the stars. Sure, I could spot the Big Dipper and hardly ever mistook the moon for a comet. But that was the extent of my celestial knowledge. Most of my time had been spent looking down rather than up, and I regretted that. Just one more regret in the long list I had been working on in my seventeen years. But all that was changing, and Addison was helping me one regret at a time.

To say I appreciated everything he had done for me would be an understatement. He taught me how to drive a stick. He trusted me with his deepest, darkest secrets. He saved my life. He fell in love with me, maybe even more than I had fallen in love with him. If that was possible.

Mere words could do no justice for how I felt about Addison. But that didn’t stop me from trying to tell him, or show him. I poured my heart out into haiku almost daily. I swirled his initials into the thighs of my worn jeans in three colors of permanent ink. I learned to say “I love you” in twenty-one languages.

My most recent declaration of love cost me an entire paycheck. I purchased a star. Not the Hollywood kind starlets walked across in stilettos. An actual star, in outer space, where no man has boldly gone before.

Bonnie Fay and Nicola had completely different reactions when I confessed what I had done. Bonnie Fay wrinkled her nose and squinted at me, forcing the kind of smile that told me I was lame. “Sounds kinda hokey,” she had said in her southern drawl. “Sugar, if you’re gonna tease him with something he can’t have, don’t let it be a star.”

Nicola, the polar opposite to everything calm and conforming, had a completely different reaction. She ached a sigh, crossed her hands over her heart, and fell backwards onto my bed. “That is just so…” She took a breath and clicked the heals of her combat boots. I prayed she’d say something other than “hokey.” “So… romantic.” Then she wiped away a hint of her sentimentality before it had the chance to smear her dark eye make-up. She had spent too long applying deadly Goth to have it ruined by a girly tear.

Yes, I bought my boyfriend a star. It was a little star – I didn’t make that much money – cleverly hidden in the Scorpius constellation. The website informed me the little speck could be seen near the horizon using a telescope the size of a small skyscraper. But the heavenly body, now and forever known as “Addison Wake,” was indeed there. It was my gift to him, a little piece of eternity that would smile down upon us every night until the stars all went out.

Okay, it was a little hokey.

But what could I have given to Addison Wake? He wasn’t exactly like the other boys at Redcliff High. To be perfectly clear, he was nothing at all like anyone on this mortal world. Addison was a phantom, a fugitive from the netherworld, casually walking among the living as shadowflesh. He willed his dark, mysterious ether into the tall, lean embodiment of perfection. An immortal soul, yet vulnerable shadowflesh.

And no, I didn’t need my head examined… or maybe I did.

Addison was completely wrong for me, completely wrong for any living, breathing girl who had a fondness for staying alive. The more I knew we shouldn’t be together, the more I was drawn to him. Like a knot, the harder a person tried to pull it apart the tighter it got.

To show my love for Addison, I had to think of something as unique, something as ageless as he. Haiku hadn’t cut it. And it wasn’t like I could burn him a CD of my favorite music and expect it to mean anything in a year, or a decade, or a century. But a star, it would be forever.

And when that long and wonderful night finally came and Addison showed me the constellations, I would surprise him with his star, pointing to the part of the sky where the tiny speck was supposed to be.

I had no idea how he would react. Maybe he’d shrug or look at me as if I had lost my mind. Or maybe he’d arch one eyebrow higher than the other over his smoky blue eyes and kiss me. It would be cold, December nights get that way, so he would undoubtedly drape his leather flight jacket over my shoulders and wrap me in his strong arms, and I would kiss him back like I had never kissed him before, like I would never kiss him again. And perhaps that would be the night. The night.

I no longer feared the darkness. As a matter of fact, I looked forward it. The longest, darkest night of the year waited for me, and that should have been my happily ever after. But fate can be a funny, cruel thing.

COVERGIF Title: Fangs And Fame Series: Blood And Guitars, #3 Author: Heather Jensen Audience: New Adult/Adult Genre: Paranormal Fantasy Formats: E-book and Paperback Publisher: Heather Jensen Cover by: Indie Designz Pages: 350 pages Expected Date of Publishing: August 25, 2014                blurb Trey and Aurora have hit the road with Catalyst for the Until Sanity Tour. For Trey, adjusting to life as a vampire while getting on stage in front of screaming fans every night proves difficult. The limelight forces him to do things he swore he wouldn't, like feeding from the occasional fan. Keeping his secret from the band is harder than Trey expected, and the dull ache of hunger is always with him. Aurora tries to help Trey adjust while attempting to further her career from the road. She continues to paint, determined not to lose herself in the media maelstrom that comes with being married to Trey Decker. But strange vampires are popping up at concerts, and the newlyweds realize they may be in over their heads. They owe a powerful vampire a favor, and he’s come to collect. But the price is too high, and Trey’s band mates are at risk of becoming collateral damage. Will Trey and Aurora be able to thwart the forces working against them and ensure that everyone they love is still around to share in their success in the end? excerpt (Trey's Point of View) I hadn't been on stage for all of five minutes when I felt the little buzz of power vibrating in the back of my skull. I was careful not to let it throw me off my game as I casually searched the crowd for the source. My first thought was that my vampire stalker was back, but she hadn’t generated a power buzz like this one. Aurora was backstage tonight – not like I’d mistake her power signature for anyone else’s – but it was clear that at least one vampire was standing in the crowd. When the song we were playing ended, I took my guitar off and walked back to the stand Chase and his drums were perched on. I grabbed a bottle of water and took a big drink, just to give myself some time to think. O’Shea started telling the crowd a story – leave it to him to fill in the silence – and I turned back around to scan for potential vamps again while he spoke. It took a moment, but I spotted him. He was sitting in the third row from the front, off to the left. He was even wearing a black suit, kind of like the ones the Emissary wear, but I couldn’t tell whether it had their emblem embroidered on the breast pocket or not. I met his gaze and held it, letting him know that I’d found him. He stared right at me in that way that vamps do when you just know they’re trying to read your soul, one wispy layer at a time. He wasn’t just here for the show. That much was obvious. If he was Emissary, what on earth was he doing at a Catalyst concert? Certainly the Emissary had more important things to do than check up on Aurora and I, like tracking down Malena, for one. And if he wasn’t Emissary, well, that was even more confusing. I wished Aurora were sitting there in the front row. At least that way I would know she was trying to decipher the same questions I was. At least that way I would know she was safe. Instead, she was enjoying the show on a screen from the backstage lounge tonight, while simultaneously snapping pictures of several paintings to upload to her website so she could ship them back to The Waking Moon. Then I realized there were two of them. The second one was dressed like the first and was sitting in the lowest section off the floor to my left. He met my gaze as well, and I had to force myself to look away so the camera wouldn’t catch my stare-down on the big screens. O’Shea’s voice broke through my thoughts, and I heard him asking the crowd if it was okay if we slowed things down for a minute. The cheering that resulted was my cue to at least try and forget about the vamp in the crowd. Like that was going to happen. I set my water bottle down by my mic stand and leaned into the mic. “Let me see those cell phones in the air,” I said as the guys starting playing the intro to “Sweet Disguise.” I strapped my guitar back on and waved one hand back and forth to direct the crowd until the verse began. As I sang, I scanned the crowd again for the mystery vamps but they were both gone. I tried not to worry about it, not to wonder where they had gone and why they’d left in such a hurry, but it was easier said than done. I couldn’t for the life of me imagine why they were here. Even if I’d wanted to warn Aurora, I wasn’t capable of sifting through all the thought trails in the building to find hers. I’d tried on several occasions, but I could never quite manage to hone in on her specifically through all the energized, almost frantic thoughts, coming my way – more than half of which were about me. The rest of the set seemed especially long after that, which made me feel like crap. The crowd was really into us, and I did my best not to be distracted. I’m even pretty sure it worked, but I was more than relieved when we finished the last song before the encore. I made my way to the dressing room at last. Aurora was sitting at her laptop, and jumped up when we all came into the room. “I’m ready, I swear,” she said, hurrying over to the makeup chair as Chase plopped down in it for his zombie makeover. I changed into my tattered suit, suddenly feeling more than a little ridiculous about the paranoia that had rattled my brain throughout the show. Aurora was here. She was fine. In fact, everything seemed fine. I started to wonder if I’d seen the vampires in the crowd at all. It didn’t make sense, anyway. Why would a vampire make an appearance in the crowd just to completely vanish moments later? Maybe I really had imagined the whole thing. Maybe I was in worse shape than I realized. I made a mental note to down some blood from the stash first thing after we finished here. I couldn’t help but scan the crowd again for the vamps when I took the stage as a zombie for the encore. No buzzing power, and no Emissary-looking mystery vamps. I was mostly relieved, and I focused on giving the fans the best zombie performance I knew how to give. Aurora was waiting for me in the lounge and we headed for the bus together. It wasn’t until we were about to climb the bus’s steps that we both felt it at the same time. A power signature. Aurora froze, her foot hovering just above the bottom step. She looked over her shoulder at me and said, “We have a visitor.”   04 hardbackstandingstraight_890x1110 Title:   Blood And Guitars

Trey's life is in danger; threatened by the very group he must join to stay alive. His struggle to continue his career and release a new album with the band is marred by events that force him to ask a powerful Synod Elder for help. Aurora has to keep Trey alive until she can make him a vampire, but her own kind will stop at nothing to prevent it. The head of the Emissary is having her followed, and if she can't figure out who is behind the violent attacks, Trey might not make it to the full moon. As Aurora battles her own kind, she's also plagued by the risk she's taking by changing Trey. Will her moon-given power be enough to carry Trey through the change, or will he be left floating in the wake of destruction? book links Amazon / Goodreads / Author Website / Youtube / Facebook / Twitter / Pinterest     about the author image I write fantasy for teens and adults. I've been creating stories for as long as I can remember. I'm also an avid reader, and I blame Amelia Atwater-Rhodes and her book "In The Forests Of The Night" for my vampire obsession. I absolutely love vampires and anything paranormal, but I enjoy fantasy of all kinds.  I'm addicted to Oreos and Raspberry Dr. Pepper from Swig. When I'm not writing I enjoy traveling, playing board and card games, killing zombies on the Xbox with my hubby, and spending time with friends and family.  Music has always been a passion of mine. I've been playing drums since I was 12. I also love playing guitar, singing, and going to concerts.  My favorite color is green, and the uglier the shade the better. I get bored of my hairstyle easily which has resulted in me having many looks in the last ten years.  I live in Southern Utah with my husband and son. I'm currently preparing for the release of the third installment in the Blood And Guitar series, Fangs And Fame, which will be out August 25, 2014. media links Facebook / Twitter / Youtube / Website / Pinterest / Goodreads image image image image image image     blogs reveal

Beneath the Scars-ebook

Event Organized by ❤MaE Book Tours & Promo Stars Services

Synopsis The sound of the ocean, the crash of the waves as they kick up against the sand and rocks—these are the only sounds Megan Greene wants to hear. She wants to leave the rest of the world behind, and find some peace. The offer of a private house on the beach, set in a small town in Maine, is perfect. Time to think—to be by herself. It’s all she wants. It’s the escape she needs. Until she stumbles across the painting that seems to echo her own chaotic mindset. Until she meets the unfriendly artist behind the stormy painting and discovers his secrets. All Zachary Adams wants is to be left alone. His canvases, and the unending scope of the ocean and sand, are his life. They direct him—fill his hours. Bring him focus. Until she enters his life. She dredges up memories of the past—the haunting images he has hidden for years; the fears he has never shared. A story he keeps buried below the surface. Can she make him see what he is missing? Can he trust her enough to believe? Together they embark on a journey where their pasts collide and threaten to tear them apart. Will their fragile bond hold or wash away with the ebbing tide?

About the Author

author logo Melanie Moreland lives a happy and content life in a quiet area of Ontario with her husband and four children. Nothing means more to her than her friends and family, and she cherishes every moment spent with them. Known as the quiet one with the big laugh, Melanie works for the sporting teams of a local university. Her (box) office job, while demanding, is rewarding as she cheers on her team to victory. While seriously addicted to coffee, and somewhat challenged with all things computer-related and technical, she relishes baking, cooking, and trying new recipes for people to sample. She loves to throw dinner parties and socialize, and also enjoys traveling, here and abroad, but finds coming home is always the best part of any trip. Melanie delights in writing a good romance story with some bumps along the way, but is a true believer in happily ever after. When her head isn’t buried in a book, it is bent over a keyboard, furiously typing away as her characters dictate their creative story lines to her even more inspired tales, for all to enjoy.
