Tough Love Continues: A Quiet Moment To Share
First of all I cannot believe it is October 3, 2012. I have already searched through the attic for the Halloween decorations and successfully decorated the front porch. I have silhouettes to put on the windows but if I put them up to early I will be taking them down before Halloween. It freaks me out after a prolonged period of display in the windows. For now things are decorated simple.
The year has passed by like a strike of lightening flashing by my eyes. I am a person that loves the concept of family and holidays. I love hearing a child laugh and giggle as they see the Christmas displays in the department stores. I am going to have to put the brakes on my life for a moment in time to slow things down because as we know the clock does not stop ticking.
Currently I am going through a period of fear due to my youngest daughter will be having a baby soon. She will be twenty in October and at this age she should be able to take care of her baby but because of her mental health problems which were partially caused due to prior drug use it is very easy to have doubts. Her track record of showing responsibility hasn’t changed even though she is pregnant. She will be a single mom because the biological father is unknown. She has no job nor any financial security and even her housing could become a problem as she is living with a friend. I do not want this to be a repeat of a situation I have already experienced but the patterns are so similar. She is due in five weeks. Today she turned in her birth certificate for health care. There are no answered questions and only time will tell.
I am here to help others that are experiencing similar trials in their life. If I don’t speak the truth about my life then how will others know they are not alone. These are not subjects that many people dare to touch. I choose not to make this a family secret. This is my life and this is how I choose to share it. I have taught and shared my stories with many people on the subject of tough love. I cannot save this daughter. I can look out for the child but at one point as a grandparent I have to shut the door. I have to remember I cannot save the world even if it is my own flesh and blood. I have two children now ages three and five that came from a different daughters situation. I have given the children my world so they will be safe and happy. The daughter I am now speaking of is a different daughter than the one I have already dealt with. Both of my girls have been double trouble for many years all the way through adulthood. Both girls are making the wrong choices and making selfish choices with no thoughts of anyone but themselves.
I heard through the grapevine that my other daughter has a new baby. I just adopted her children in December of 2011. I cannot have anything to do with her due to her unhealthy choices. It would not be healthy for the children I am raising nor my own mental health.
My life journal has been way more complicated than I ever expected and there are many chapters I would have preferred to delete but this is my life and this is my story.
I love writing books for children and I know through each book I write that I can pass a smile onto each child. I am looking forward to my next children’s book to share with you and your family.
With Love,
Barbara Bloom
Common Sense: Dust In The Wind
Obituary printed in the London Times
Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:
- Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
- Why the early bird gets the worm;
- Life isn’t always fair;
- And maybe it was my fault.
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don’t spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).
His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.
Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.
It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.
Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.
Common Sense took a beating when you couldn’t defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.
Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realise that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.
Common Sense was preceded in death,
-by his parents, Truth and Trust,
-by his wife, Discretion,
-by his daughter, Responsibility,
-and by his son, Reason.
He is survived by his 5 step brothers;
-I Know My Rights
- I Want It Now
- Someone Else Is To Blame
- I’m A Victim
- Pay me for Doing Nothing
Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.

Enjoying: Magical Moments
I was thinking of all my readers today as I wrote a special little girl named Penelope a letter. It was an honor to write her as I told her thank you for sharing her love of books with others. My ultimate goal in life is to simply pass smiles across each mile for every child that I can reach in the world with the stories I write. My books are written for you to experience a fun-filled magical journey and in turn making a memorable moment for your whole family.
Plant the seed to read and a child will succeed,

A Child’s Perspective: A Special Review To Share With You
I was honored to find out on Friday that a sweet little girl name Penelope shared her thoughts by writing a review for Run Hide The Monster Is Outside and Pixie Pie. I would love to share this with you.

Barbara Bloom’s Two books: Penelope Mia’s take on your books:
I loved Pixie Pie and I love all things that are pink. I love the way she asked her friend to spend the day with her and I love the clothes they wore. I hope you write more stories about Pixie and more of her friends.
I really loved the monster book so much that I asked my grandmother to read it to me five times. I got just a little afraid when I did not know what the monster was or if the boy would need to run and hide from it. But, I won’t tell you what it was because it is a surprise at the end of this book. You have to read it for yourself like my Aunt Frani would say. The pictures in both books were really nice and I hope Barbara writes more books for me to read. Penelope Mia.

Run Hide The Monster Is Outside: A Tale With A Twist
I am proud to say that a new book is being released within the next two days. Run Hide The Monster Is Outside, will be born in the next few hours. I am super excited to share my latest book with everyone.
Today I had a wonderful time reading to the children at the library. I am grateful that I have been requested to read ”Your Shoes My Shoes” on Thursday, September 13th, 2012 to the pre-schoolers. It is addicting reading books to children as you watch their faces light up with a new book. You can see smiles all the way across the room and hear the laughter and giggles while you are reading. It is such a joy. I would like to say thank you to the parents for the opportunity to read to your children. I will be back to read again in October with my new book release. Look forward to seeing you then.
