THROWBACK THURSDAY_2000 ANTICIPATION
I remember so many people were frightened by the thought of 2000. It was almost hilarious the way rumors abounded about the world coming to an end, technology completely failing, computers not rolling over, and so on and so forth. I brought the New Year in pregnant with my husband, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, son, nieces and nephews. We looked around the room and surprise, surprise we were all still there alive and breathing. A couple of months later, we would give birth to our first and only baby girl, Storm. What were you doing in 2000?Take a peek »

WRITER WEDNESDAY_A LOVE AFFAIR WITH A PAPERBACK
A few days ago my husband and I were discussing paperback books, and how many people have gone the way of the eBook. He asked me what happened and wanted to hear my views as an avid reader. Then he shared with me his views on the paperback. We both love a good paperback any day over the eBook. Don't get me wrong, I love my Kindle and take my baby with me everywhere I go. But here's the reasons why I prefer the paperback...Take a peek »

CREAMY CRACK OR NO? TO RELAX OR NOT TO RELAX? MY NATURAL PREDICAMENT
I've been rocking back and forth lately between being natural or going back to perming my hair. I love my natural hair, but it does take a lot of time and maintenance. When I wear a TWA it's easy to get up and go with minimal maintenance. However, I have noticed that I was having a lot of moisture problems when I wore my hair the way that I was. So I began trying out new hairstyles and then reverted back to my old hairstyle of twist outs. But anyone who's worn the twist outs know that they take quite a while. As a mother, wife, author, FT worker, and so much more, time is not on my side. So I have to find something that takes minimal time and effort.
Day one of the twist out when my hair was in my face, my forehead instantly broke out. I had not had this problem in a long time. The last time that I recall it being an issue was when I first began wearing twist-outs. I have also been admiring a lady's hair at church. She wears sister locs. They appear to be twists and they are so gorgeous, with so much shine and body. That style will allow me to wear my hair in a low daily maintenance style for an extended length of time, and remain natural.
I also miss my braids; micros or kinky twists. I'm torn. As of the writing of this post, I have my hair in a twist out. I plan to do a major style change one way or the other in the coming weeks.
Are you natural or relaxed? What's your go-to style for easy maintenance and limited time? What's your style challenge?

REMOVING LIMITATIONS FOR GREAT EXPECTATIONS_MONDAY MOTIVATIONAL MOMENT
If you want to achieve greatness stop asking for permission. ~AnonymousOften in life we look to society, the world, and those in our lives to define us, or tell us how far we can go in this world. However, when the Master created you and me, He didn't tell us that we were to be restricted or confined by the world's limitations and definitions.

CALIENTE FRIDAY_OH WHAT A TANGLED WEB WE WEAVE...
Last week, I sent the second book in The House of BeJeweled series off to my Beta Readers. My husband and I just finished the concept for the book cover as well, and will soon be sending that to our cover designer.
The second book in the series is entitled, BeJeweled: Oh What A Tangled Web We Weave. Today, I want to share an excerpt from that book as I wait for the feedback from my Beta Readers. If this were an actual movie, I would love to have Jwaundace Candece play the role of Nekana "Nikki" Vincent, and Lance Gross would play the role of Wesley "Wes" King.

JUST ONE KISS IS ALL IT TAKES_WRITER WEDNESDAY
Yesterday I reviewed Te` Russ' new novel, Just One Kiss, and it was rated As The Real Thang! Today I'm sharing an excerpt from the romantic suspense novel, Just One Kiss. And ladies check out the cover, isn't it hot and a bit provocative? I love it!!! That's only a peek of what's inside the novel.Take a look and see what's got ladies heated... ABOUT THE BOOK:
Award-winning investigative reporter Cassandra McAllister is finally taking a break. Especially after her latest exposé. Now all she wants is to enjoy her time soaking up the sun on the beach, steps away from her private Jamaican villa. Her mysterious, yet extremely sexy neighbor is a great distraction, and she plans to make him one of her methods of relaxation.
RJ Campbell’s attraction to Cassandra is strong from the first moment he lays eyes on her. But when their lips touch for the first time, he knows he’s a goner. But RJ is harboring a secret that once it’s revealed, could potentially destroy the feelings growing between him and Cassandra.
Can these two overcome the secrets and issues they have and build a lasting relationship? Or will their time together be nothing more than an island rendezvous? EXCERPT FROM JUST ONE KISS: RJ realized he'd greatly underestimated how hard it would be to sit while Cassandra tried on dresses. At first when he waited for her to come out in the first dress, he figured it would be boring just sitting there waiting for her to come out in dress after dress. When she came out in the first dress, he felt his throat dry and his body stiffen. He sat there watching her as she looked at herself in the mirror, turning this way and that before turning to him.“Well,” she said, twirling around, “what do you think?”“I think you look amazing.”“It is a nice dress,” she said as she turned to look in the mirror again.“Maybe you try on some more to see if there is something you like better.”She turned and looked at the rack. “There are so many, but I think you're right. I'll try on a few more.”Then he found himself becoming more and more eager to see her in each dress. Each dress looked better than the last, and they all fit her amazing figure to perfection. Soon he was thinking more about getting her out of each dress. He looked over his shoulder. Gwen hadn't come back yet and he figured she wouldn't be back unless one of them called her. The dressing area was in the back and around the corner. It would be so easy for him to slip in the dressing room with her. Before his next thought, he was up and over to the dressing room in a couple of quick strides. He whipped the curtain open, causing Cassandra to jump. His eyes darkened immediately at seeing Cassandra in only her underwear.“RJ!” she whispered, trying to cover herself and close the curtain at the same time. “You're not supposed to be in here.”“Don't worry,” he said with a wolfish grin. “No one else is here, remember?”“What about Gwen?”“I doubt she'll be coming back here anytime soon.”He stepped in and closed the curtain.Cassandra took a step back and found she was up against the wall. His large body nearly took up the entire dressing room. She shook her head nervously, but she had a shy smile on her face. “RJ, I don't think we should do this here.”He smiled back at her and skimmed the back of his fingers down her throat to the top of her breasts, and continued down her stomach until he reached the top edge of her panties.“Come on Cassy, I thought you were the type who liked living a little dangerously.”Never one to turn down a challenge, she slid her hand around his neck, stood on tiptoe and kissed him with so much heat they could have burned down the whole dress shop.RJ lifted her up and wrapped her legs around his waist and began to kiss her neck. He rocked his hips against her center and she moaned at the movement. His hand slid up her back to her bra and he was just about to unhook it, when his phone rang.
ABOUT TE` RUSS:
Growing up an introvert, Té Russ found solace in literary arts at an early age. She found reading to be a vehicle to broader horizons and writing a form of self-expression. She began writing love stories in her adolescent years as a way to expel her youthful thoughts of love into words. Since then she has gone from writing stories and thoughts of love in journals to attending college for journalism and falling in love, which has allowed those youthful words of love to blossom into a series of stories in her romance novels. Though she has an immense appreciation for the sheer smell that books collectively exert, she also has found balance to her introverted nature with adrenaline inducing activities. So if she does not have her nose pressed deeply into a book or her pen ticking through a pad, you may also find this mother of three jumping out of airplanes, cheering her husband on at the top of her lungs at MMA fights, buzzing down the interstate on the back of motorcycles, or kayaking. To keep up with her writings and other things going on check out her pages:www.facebook.com/TeRussNovelswww.terussnovels.blogspot.com

SOARING BEYOND THE COCOON _MONDAY MOTIVATIONAL MOMENT
Just when the caterpillar thought the world was ending, he turned into a butterfly. ~ProverbThe caterpillar lives his life going along on the ground doing the only thing he knows how, crawling and eating. And then one day he starts becoming limited and weighed down by something beyond his control. He is slowly closed in away from the world more and more each day. He doesn't understand why he's being weighted down, and in such a dark place, filled with sorrow and depression.
As time goes on he becomes comfortable in this new dark, world created around him. He starts thinking on the limited level of his new confinements. He doesn't question it, or understand it but accepts it as the new norm. No longer is he in contact with the outside world. As he continues to takes precautions to protect himself, and realizes he is trapped.
As time goes on, he begins to view his world as ending and accepts it as such. But suddenly one day, the caterpillar gains new strength. He decides to give it one more shot and to give it his best. He doesn't understand where this renewed strength is derived from, but he has to try to move beyond his confines. He stretches out and realizes his strength is more powerful than he anticipated. He continues to move his restrictions and begins to see the light. He realizes he is seeing the world in a different perspective.
As the limitations are removed, he begins to shift his mindset, his creativity, and his movement. He now realizes that he can not only come out of his confines, but he has wings. And these wings allow him to rise up higher than ever before. He no longer has to crawl, he can soar on wings above all his challenges, and rise above the world. He can reach destinations and move in ways he never could before. He's more powerful and unlimited above his imagination. - Marvin Ramsey, Sr.
It's the same way with people, life's challenges causes us to create restrictions of our own makings. We began to confine ourselves and the belief we once had in our ability. Sometimes people become sad, angry, and eventually depressed. They limit their contact with the world and ability to give their best. They cannot think beyond the box they have placed themselves within. They began to underestimate their ability, and doubt they will ever grow or become better than where they are in life now. At times it may even feel like life is over and they are simply waiting to die. However, with time, and prayer this can and will change.
One day a powerful light comes into your life, and changes your mindset. You began to realize the only restrictions and limitations placed upon yourself, are those placed by you.
At a certain point you began to ask the "what if" questions. What if I change my mindset? What if I give it one more shot? What if I try with everything that is within me? What if I truly believe in my Higher Power? And as they ask the "what if question," they dare to dream again, and they dare to believe again. And one day...they step out and take that little baby step, pushing the barriers back they have created for self-preservation.
And that one step leads them to greater, more powerful, and unlimited heights than they ever realized they were capable of. That world of protection they erected allowed them to heal from their past; to grow past their limitations; and become stronger. Now they have truly mounted up on wings and soared above their previous restrictions.
And just like that you, black butterfly, are soaring and living life. Your black symbolizes power, authority, strength, a dying off of the old bad things, and a rebirthing of, elegance, and sophistication. This is your new life defined by you and the shedding of the old. - Chelle Ramsey
If we don't find the strength to push past that which holds us back, will we ever know how powerful we can be? Marvin Ramsey, Sr.
