Also (about the spin off) They barely manage to come together to film the actually series, having a spinoff would do nothing but be a waste of time and resources that could go into making the actual show.
Well, I guess the idea of doing a spin-off involving supporting characters would be that hopefully these actors are less busy than those playing the lead roles and would therefore have time to fill in the gap? But Moffat & Gatiss don’t, with Dr Who and all!

I agree - there is no arc that leaves Mary alive never mind hanging out with Molly! But I love the idea of some more…
Yeah, Molly and Sally - that I can totally get behind! Or Mary and Moriarty, as warring crime lords or something. But Mary + Molly makes no sense to me. I didn’t say this because I don’t wnat there to be spin-offs in general, or don’t want people to be acting more, etc - just that it doesn’t make sense to me in any way for these two characters to be friends. I’m glad that the actors are friends. That’s great. But real people are not their characters!

Ugh, people are badgering the BBC and Mofftiss for a spin-off featuring Mary and Molly. Right, that’s a GREAT idea. Mary could kill people and Molly could process their corpses, then they could go for margaritas and talk about… oh wait, they have literally not one thing in common and have met maybe once or twice in actual canon now. Maybe Molly could talk “admiringly” about how devastating Mary’s bullet wounds were to the victims. Oh, except for the wee snag that that seems totally out of character for Molly’s caring, compassionate nature. Mary could talk smugly about John and Molly could think wistfully about Sherlock. I really don’t see her opening up to Mary, who seems like someone who would be more likely to poke fun at a hopeless crush on a gay, totally uninterested friend than to sympathise. Mary is not exactly the sort of person you bare your weaknesses to, and while Molly has a strength of her own, she’s sensitive and easily hurt. In what world would these two ever be friends??? And what on earth sort of plot do people imagine a storyline featuring these two completely dissimilar characters could possibly have?! Honestly, people are such idiots! It’s fantastic that Loo and Amanda get along so well. Maybe they’ll find another acting project to work on to the delight of all and sundry (give or take a few). But not these characters. Sorry, but this is the worst idea EVER.
I've read your new fic last night and I love it!!
Thank you so much!!!! And thanks for coming to let me know! It means so much to me!

I’ve noticed the same thing. Trouble is every time…
Yes, it’s a weak tactic of deflecting from the main issue (that Mary is, to put is as an extreme understatement, highly problematic) and turning the blame on the people who have the “nerve” to call out a professional murder for doing what she does - murdering, or trying to murder the main character. And yet this post, as with several of my other discussions of Mary, focuses not even on her heinous professional choices, but on the small, petty, nasty-minded day-to-day choices that really show (me, at least) that she is a truly horrible person. They also like to attack people who call Mary out with the very shaky argument that “Sherlock is even worse”. Sometimes I think that these people forget that this show is actually about Sherlock (it’s not called “Mary” (or better, “A.G.R.A.”), after all!) and his development from being a great man into a good one. It’s about him. Yes, he’s behaved badly. But you know what he hasn’t done? Gone into killing for pay. That’s a pretty large distinction, but that’s just me… :P
