What is it that is so enchanting about the fragmentary image? Is it the same thing that makes black-and-white so arresting? Asking for a friend

It’s the sharp edges, the stark contrast of the shadows, the dark hint of those cheekbones, the siren call of those lethal planes and angles 😍😍😍😍😍

Made (and interrupted) these gifs to ask: Just how late did Sherlock change his mind here?

Let’s articulate it.  Look at his mouth when he pronounced the “sh” in Sherlock:

But here’s its shape right before he spoke, at the end of his inhale:

image

Why open it so wide?  He stood there with his mouth shut for long enough:

image

so it’s not just about nervous breathing.  To answer the question, let’s examine Sherlock’s mouth starting to form some words that do require this shape:

So whatever he was about to say, it likely began with “I”.  Now what could that possibly be?  Hmmm…

Oh, good, we’re back to Tarmac Hell™ this week. Fantastic. :|

Ah it’s finally back on my dash. If I have to suffer so do you!

Tbh I thought this was about flexing on customers when they’re being rude

It can be both. But seriously, let’s not under-portray just how much rudeness public-facing staff are forced to absorb every day they work. Once, at one of my many retail jobs, we had just opened so it was quiet and I was the only person working. I was at the top of a ladder dusting glass shelves and in no way about to get into people’s faces and force them to talk to me, have products shoved at them, etc. A lady walked in and I uttered this utterly offensive word: “Hello!” over my shoulder, as I dusted, since I figured that ignoring her, as the only two humans in a very small store, would be rude. She reared back like a goose about to attack and hissed “I’m just looking!!!!!” with such venom that I was taken aback. And that’s just… customary.
