Nocturne - SilentAuror - Sherlock (TV) [Archive of Our Own]

It’s finally finished!! Apologies for how long this one took me to write - I actually started it before Christmas, but then interrupted it because I wanted to write a Christmas story. And then in the later winter/earlier spring I started experiencing some rather severe anxiety, and the major theme of trauma recovery in this story wasn’t always hugely helpful to be spending a lot of time with. That said, it’s finally finished and I’m pleased! I hope you like it if you choose to give it a try! :)

Title: Nocturne
Pairing/rating: John/Sherlock, explicit

Summary: When Sherlock is injured at a crime, an avalanche of suppressed trauma opens up. John ends up moving into his bedroom to ward off the nightmares, hoping against hope that this arrangement can last indefinitely. This is a story of nights spent together, trauma recovery, and John finally learning some truths long hidden.

We know that Sherlock is amazing at the violin, but maybe he plays another instrument?

You don’t have to dig very far to find evidence of Sherlock’s musical prowess on this blog.  I think he probably plays every instrument ever:

Teeny-tiny update: the fic is done and 2/3 of the way edited. It had been awhile since I’d revisited the earlier sections, so it’s a slower process than sometimes! Apologies! It should be coming quite soon!

Another thing I love about GBBO: no villains. In 99% of other reality TV - even cooking shows - you have at least one contestant whose edit portrays them like “rawr I’m not here to make friends I’m here to win.” You know the type. They can be fun sometimes. But I’ve watched through like four or five seasons of GBBO so far, and literally all of the contestants have been absolutely sweet and kind and lovely.

The closest thing to a villain in the show is Paul, and even he’s not too bad at all. That brings up a second thing I like: none of the criticism seems mean. On other competition shows, the judges can seem downright mean (and the cameras/editing play it up like there’s no tomorrow). It’s so… NICE.

(also I have a bit of a crush on Sue, don’t tell anyone, lol)

I made another chunk of progress on the fic! It’s now at 46,800 words and I really think that it might be right at its finishing point - like maybe two paragraphs off or something! I’m going to sleep on it, edit the most recent stuff, then probably finish it in the next day or two! (At last!) :)))
