Omg now I need to re-listen to Cabin Pressure all over again! I first discovered it around 2013 when I was brand new to Benedict Cumberbatch in general, when people still debated Sherlock as a DFP and whatnot, and one of the most immediate impressions I took away from CP is that there is a ton of actual Benedict in Martin Crieff, to a degree that made me love him ten thousand times more. This radio show is the BEST. No complaints about lack of continuity or dropped plot threads; they literally ALL come back in full circle and beautiful completion in the finale that we all had to wait years to hear, and it’s WONDERFUL! If you don’t know Cabin Pressure yet, run, don’t walk! Be wary of listening to it in public places, because you WILL laugh out loud like a crazy person. 😂

Whoa, look at this!! My fic The Yellow Poppies has surpassed 30,000 hits!! That’s so cool! I wrote this story as a response to the release of the deleted scene where Magnussen goes to visit/threaten Sherlock in the hospital after Mary shot him. Within days of that scene coming out, at least 5 or 6 people messaged me to ask what I thought about it and how I was going to deal with it in terms of the spate of series 3 fix-its I was writing those days. I had immediately started thinking about it, anyway, and what really caught my attention was an odd parallel between Mary’s threatening hospital visit and then Magnussen’s, both of them bending over him while he was high/incapacitated, the added layer of sexual assault with Magnussen and his nonconsensual touching, the violation of peeing in the fireplace at Baker Street, and also a line that was cut from the final script where he says, at Baker Street, “I’ve never had a detective before”. “Had” in this sense is certainly a sexual reference, one which the writers also gave to Irene Adler, so we can be fairly sure that it was intended to be taken that way. So I wrote a story about assault, with a dual-villain theme. It’s a series 3 fix-it, a hurt-comfort, and John is really his best John-self in this! On top of that, my flower-titled stories are unrelated to each other but this is the second one (the others include The Green Carnations, The White Lotuses, The Red Roses, The Wisteria Tree, and Rosa Felicia). :) This is also the twentieth of my 89 currently-posted stories to reach 30,000 hits and it’s very exciting! So this might be asking for a world of pain, but my curiosity has finally won out. I’m not a Supernatural fan, have never seen an episode in my life (or wanted to), but I’ve been aware of it on a peripheral level since at least the late 2000’s. I know about the love-confession-straight-to-hell thing but I’m not up on any of the details. Can someone point me to a succinct post or essay on a general history of the show/fandom for an outsider to understand? I ask this with apprehension… not looking to fall down a wormhole, just… morbidly curious, lol. Even a bullet-point form post would be great. Like, how it started (the show and whatever shenanigans around it), what changed and how when Misha was added to the cast, any relevant fandom background info necessary, how the show ended and where things stand now. Just if someone knows of such a resource for a newb who is - surprise surprise - someone who writes research briefs and looking to analyze this from an academic standpoint. Lol.
