Um, wow. Someone who I didn’t know even slightly, with whom I had never once spoken, contacted me today to insist that I start watching a show that I’ve honestly been deliberately avoiding, though I’m sure it’s very good. I just don’t need a new fandom. They stated that the main relationship in it was a canonically romantic relationship. I asked a simple follow-up inquiring whether it was overtly canon, or just left open to the imagination/not denied outright. Someone else commented on the ask post saying that it was not, in fact, overtly canon, but rather the second thing (easily read in/not overtly denied). I thanked that person, then went away and did other things for awhile. I just came back to a flurry of attacks from the original asker and found myself unfollowed by them, too. I just… wow. I asked a question of clarification. It wasn’t an attack on anyone’s show. I have zero stakes invested in this - remember, I haven’t seen it! This person contacted me out of the blue to insist that I watch this thing. They didn’t state why. I didn’t reject the concept (of watching said show) out of hand, nor did I say at any point that my willingness to watch it depended on the answer to my question (though I did say that I’m not shopping for a new fandom at the moment). The force of the reaction was… weird. This is baffling. People suck sometimes. :/

Hi Barachiki! I love your work, it's so quirky and funny! I have an ask.. You know how Moffat said Gatiss' Mycroft was going to the gym cos he was going to do a shower scene? We never got it, could you give us that? Hoping, but not too hopeful, your fan, a
Hi there! I have been sitting on this request for a little while thinking about what to do with it. As a rule, I don’t do anything that is explicit. Also, I try not to do images that look just like the actor in an alternate surrounding. Without clothes, it makes it difficult to recognize the characters.
That said, you can have this oldie. It almost fits the ask ;-)

God that’s fucking terrifiying
Perspective: as someone who has never owned a car and always taken public transit, I saw this post and thought, whoo, that looks like fun! How efficient! One day, private car ownership will finally be outlawed and then we can all get excited about innovative public transit ideas.

2019 writings in review
So I’ve been seeing other people posting about their writings over the past year and went to have a look at mine and was a bit depressed by it as compared to previous years. That said, this year is the first year of my life that I’ve had an officially full-time job, plus multiple part-time jobs on top of it, and it’s been so busy from October through Christmas Day that I’ve barely had time to breathe, no joke. I’ve been burning the candle at both ends and it’s just been so much, plus I got really sick (shingles) for the month of November and had no energy to spare for anything - I didn’t have enough to even do all the stuff I’m already scheduled for. So, bear that in mind, if you would? Also, the only two fics I posted this last year were LONG, and I have another long one in the works right now. Here’s my entire summary from 2019 (and if you’re looking at ao3 and confused, ignore The Bells of King’s College - it was originally written and posted in 2018, but I split it into chapters at the request of the Johnlock Fic Club when they read it and reposted it that way in January 2019. Doesn’t count!):
Isosceles: 56,672 words, 7 chapters. AO3 summary: After solving a case for a major celebrity, Sherlock gets himself asked out. When John asks, he discovers that Sherlock has no intention of going, at least not until John agrees to coach him through whatever he might need to know for his date…
This is the story of Sherlock beginning a relationship with an international celebrity whom I unapologetically based on Chris Evans (with a dash of Justin Hartley from This is Us). Sherlock only agrees to the first date because John feels bizarrely compelled to urge him to, in an effort to disguise his own feelings for Sherlock. Sherlock balks, confessing to his lack of experience and ends up asking if John would coach him through it, whatever that entails. John agrees, and much jealousy ensues. :)
Rebuilding Rome: 94,099 words, 15 chapters. AO3 summary: When a case unexpectedly forces John to acknowledge some difficult truths about himself and his life, he spirals downward, leaving Sherlock to do his best to rescue him from his own darkness and somehow try to build something new on broken foundations.
This one is difficult. It involves a lot of John facing his demons, though not before they pull him even further into the depths. It’s also a story of redemption and of him and Sherlock learning to work through their problems in a raw, realistic, messy, and eventually beautiful (I hope!) way. It doesn’t pull any punches or sugarcoat any part of the process and features POVs from both John and Sherlock, as well as Ella Thompson and Molly. :)
Total: 150,771 words
Total if you count works-in-progress (there are currently two!): 180,266 words
