Oh My God! I can’t wait for The A.G.R.A complex sequel… Could you like write faster? LOL Don’t murder me, please I’m just kidding, granted not that funny. I love your stuff though *runs away*
Lol! I just wrote about 3,500 words on it this evening, and it’s now completely clear about where it’s going in my mind now, so it’s full speed ahead! :)

I cringed when I saw a couple of the comments on that. If I were an author, I don’t think I’d be able to handle thoughtless or unkind comments with ANY equanimity, so being able to deal with them is just another thing that impresses me about authors
Ahh, it does go with the territory a bit, and while I’m more or less used to it, it does take patience to respond. I mean, I think it’s fair to say that I produce at least as much fic as anyone else, yet when I’ve just posted a 20K word fic and the first thing out of someone’s mouth is “omg FINALLY” or “more!”, I sometimes feel like it would never be enough, that if I quit my job, stopped eating or cleaning or going outside and just stayed at my desk 24/7 to pump out endless amounts of fanfic, it still wouldn’t satisfy the feed-me-more beast, you know? Since Christmas I’ve posted one in January (42K), three in February (18K, 7.5K, and 22K respectively), two in March (15.5K and 12.5K), one in April (20K) and just now, Anytime at 18K. That’s roughly 155,500 words just since Christmas. Plus the novel on the side.
It’s a fine line between of course wanting people to want the shit out of your stuff, and yet not wanting to feel like no amount will ever be enough of your time and creativity to give, you know?
I don’t know how thoughtful or patient I am, but I really do try!

Things I love about being a fanfic writer: people loving my stuff and wanting to read more of it as quickly as possible.
Things I don’t love as much about being a fanfic writer: people making demands. Sequels, more fic, faster fic, faster updates, their own story idea, etc.
It’s a really, really fine line, I realise! It’s a SMALL difference between saying, “I love this thing that you do (and provide for free, in your own spare time)” and that turning into insatiable demands for more. I just got a bit exasperated with someone who said in a comment, “finally, another story”, as though I hadn’t posted one in a year or something. It’s pretty fair to say that I produce a lot. Not counting the novel I’m working on, I turn out about 12,000 words per week on average (sometimes a lot more!), and I do that on top of being an ESL professor and running a cathedral music program. Plus I’m making a CD at the moment (I’m a classical singer) and also working on a novel that I’m over 45K into. I also swim and occasionally clean my apartment and see friends and watch online tv. You know: living.
Do the fic authors in your lives a favour and find ways of being encouraging and appreciative without harassing or demanding. I’m preaching to the choir here; as I frequently say, I really do have incredibly kind readers who leave thoughtful, detailed comments and lots of them, and I’m very, very lucky that way! This post is a vent, not a lecture!
I’m hip-deep in the sequel to The A.G.R.A. Complex now (7,900 words). It’s getting juicy! It’s set during series 3, so things are going to be interesting!
Hello love! Can I ask you a question? Hope I'm not being annoying or intrusive. I've just realised, in all your stories (or most of them) you write Sherlock as a virgin. Is there a particular reason for that? or it's just because it was implied in the seri
Hello! Yeah, of course you can ask! You’re right: of my 45 stories so far (there are 46 on ao3 but one is Freebatch), Sherlock is a virgin in 42 (the two exceptions are in Table For One & Table For Two, which are the same universe). The reason is that I consider it canon, based on Mycroft’s comment in ASIB. My feeling is that Mycroft would indeed know if it were otherwise. We also know for a fact, thanks to Moffat, that nothing happened with Irene (despite Benedict’s headcanon about that) and we know from Janine’s own lips that nothing happened between them. So, yeah: canon. In my interpretation, at any rate. I’m fine with other people writing what they want, but in my view, Sherlock has always been disinterested/not willing to deal with the personal entanglements of sex (not asexual, just focused on other things and lacking in social skills on top of it) and that John has always been bisexual but has never acted on it (or possibly realised it overtly) before Sherlock.
You’re so welcome - thank YOU for reading my stuff! It’s very much a symbiotic thing; I should be thanking you just as much or more!

I would never! Don’t even suggest it!! I would keep posting or reblogging pics of Ben if I were the last person on tumblr and no one was even following me any more. I love him, the end. :)

I am sorry, don’t get the misogyny thing at all. You clearly like other women in Sherlock. Not liking Mary isn’t misogynistic. It’s personal TO HER and for good reason. And I of course agree with you. ;)
Thanks, you!! The accusations-of-misogyny is an old, tired line that the Mary apologists like to bring out whenever anyone dares criticise Mary for being who she canonically is, or for calling her a villain, even in admiring tones. To me it’s every bit as damaging to LIKE a person strictly on the basis of things like gender/race/orientation/age/whatever else, as it is to discriminate against them for those things. Equality means judging every person based on who they actually are and how they behave without using these categorisations as filters or excuses, whether positive or negative. If we say that all female characters must be loved simply because they’re women, that takes as much away from the agency of a woman to make her own choices in terms of right and wrong, legal and illegal, moral and immoral. We don’t give all women a carte blanche on behaviour strictly because they’re women. When will people get this???
90% of the gorgeous Ben C pics that come across my dash come from you. I just wanted to take a minute and say OMG THANKS SO MUCH!!! :)
Oh, really!! And I thought I’d slowed down on my Ben photo postings! I won’t, then… :P I just reblog the pretty that comes up on my dash, you know? I’m glad to have been a source of it for you! I will never get tired of looking at him, watching him act, hearing him talk, all of it.
