I wouldn’t have known what this was if diebrarian hadn’t tagged it.

This is how you wave your hand/conductor’s baton to lead the song if you’re a music conductor. You make different movements depending on the time signature of the song. (wiki article) (youtube example)

This, except it’s VERY rare to beat in 8 or 12! These would normally be considered compound time signatures, where instead of beating every individual beat, you conduct groups of beats. For instance, the Game of Thrones theme is in 12/8, meaning there are twelve eighth beats in every measure. This really groups into four groups of three and conduct a pulse on beats 1, 4, 7, and 10, in a four-pattern. If that doesn’t make sense, think of it as ONE two three FOUR five six SEVEN eight nine TEN eleven twelve. In the GoT theme, it goes “doot doot do-do doot doot do-do doot doot do-do doot doot”. The doots are the eighth notes. Listen for the greater four grouping to get the swing feeling instead of counting in twelve and being robotic about it. :)

400 words into my new Johnlock. :)

Still haven’t received a single word of hate over the new Freebatch. Kind of shocked, honestly. Though it’s only been up for 24 hours - I probably just jinxed myself with that. :P

No hate from me, for sure! Although I’ll be blunt: I dislike RPF, generally.

To be honest, I only read it because, well, it’s written by you. I love your writing, and this one is no exception. It’s well written, constructed and you evidently researched, wich I appreciate tremendously.

You tell good stories, point à la ligne.

I still don’t like RPF, but I can’t help but appreciate it because of the way you write. I hope it’s not insulting to you… how can i explain this…

The only way I can explain it is this way: I love Stephen King for his horror stories. I’ve read most of his books and short stories and I can count the ones I haven’t read on the fingers of one hand. I like his horror stories the best (yes, scare the shit out of me, please ), but when he write “regular” fiction, like “Different Seasons”’s  Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank redemption, I can’t help but read it and adore it. Because in the end, it’s the writing I love, not what it’s about. To me, he can tell ANY story well and it’ll be worth my time to read.

I feel like that about “having your cake”. It’s a story well told and was well worth my time. Thank you!

Merci, mon amie! :) Ton explication est parfait! And it’s a huge compliment, especially if you hate RPF! (I honestly kind of hate it, too, lol!) To know that you dislike the genre and read it anyway, just because you like my stuff - that’s the opposite of insulting!! :) I’m glad you felt like it was worth your time! <3333

((we’re all still recovering but thank u and bless u for giving us the Greatest freebatch of our time))

Oh really??? I got the impression from a couple of blogs (ones that don’t follow me and haven’t said it directly to me at all) that I had made myself a bit unpopular with freebatchers! Which is what it is, if that’s the case. I don’t write stories to be popular; I write the stories that come to me and do my best to give zero fucks if people don’t like them. I don’t succeed - I totally give some fucks. But I’ll still write what I need to write, you know? :P

I’m halfway thru and let me say how wonderful your story is. It’s so so good.
I can not properly express my gratitude that you shared it with us fans. I’ll post more when I’ve finished reading but I truly thank you for giving it to us fans!!

Thank you!!! I hope you like the rest of it!! <33333
