Smashwords, the seller and distributor of ebooks I use to all...

Smashwords, the seller and distributor of ebooks I use to all sites except Google Play and Amazon, now has real-time sales reporting. (See the pretty graphys!)

I sell about 20 books a day on all of Amazon’s sites, and only about 5 a day on ALL of the other sites. But something i’m seeing here, is that in the last 30 days, my sales have remained relatively consistent on the other sites while at Amazon my rank has been trending downward.

There are a lot of people who only sell on Amazon because, frankly, distributing to all of the other sites is a pain in the tuckus. But if my books are “stickier” on other sites; it may be worth the effort in the long, long haul (but not worth distributing to all those sites individually at this time).

Interestingly, my sales at Smashwords and it’s affiliates, are about where I was a year ago at Amazon. I wonder if a year from now, I’ll be where I am with Amazon today? (And will my revenue on Amazon continue to grow exponentially? If they do… whoa… I have a ten year plan to ditch the day job, but I may make it in less time.)

Mockup for cover of “The Slip”.

Odin wants his horse back. Steve Rogers doesn’t want to hand him over. Amy Lewis and Bohdi Patel want him to go free.

The horse has his own ideas. A short story (mostly) from Sleipnir’s point of smell.

Critiques welcome! Should his nose be close to the letters or further away?

FOR THOSE WHO ARE WAITING FOR LOKI'S RETURN IN WARRIORS

cindy-df:

ibringthefireodin:

I didn’t start writing I Bring the Fire to redeem Loki. I started writing the series to redeem Chaos. I don’t believe Chaos is the same from one generation to another; hence I turned the story of Loki: Lopt, Lothur, Luthur, and Laugauz, into a story of constant death and reincarnation. Sometimes male, sometimes, female, sometimes an animal, sometimes frost giant, fire giant, or other, in I Bring the Fire Chaos is always in flux. I thought that the Chaos of our modern era is the Chaos of the mind and technology. Looking back at the Gods as portrayed in our myths and legends, I thought if Gods and humans were to meet, this age would be about the conflict between us and them… And not just their magic versus our technology, but their society versus our society.

(SPOILERS BELOW THE CUT)

I am curious about that universe glimpse by Amy. Where she had her daughter. Discovering what her child was capable of.

cindy-df I’m getting requests to write that universe. I probably will, but I can’t do it until the end of the series, because I *think* it will require some spoilers.

A review of Descartes Error, my first novel length fanfic. Whenever I hear “fanfiction is crap” or other such drek, reviews and PMs like this make me shrug my shoulders and say, “Meh.”

Descartes is my first novel length fan-fic. It got too long and meandered a bit, still, I get reviews of it to this day. It isn’t polished, but I can’t be ashamed of it with reviews like this.

Walter Crane illustrates the tale of Pandora’s box, 1892:

Pandora wonders at the box.
Pandora desires to open the box.
Pandora opens the box.

I almost made the title of I Bring the Fire part V, Pandora, because Amy does things of dubious morality, but incredible utility. It really is her story, but she is also a Warrior in the story—and so is little Fenrir, Beatrice, Claire, Dale, Steve, the two Marines, and the SEAL Platoon that joins them in the end, and of course “Loki”.

Almost done with content edits for "The Slip"

I wrote the rough-rough draft months ago while waiting for “Fates: Part IV or I Bring the Fire to be done. “The Slip”,  is about Odin’s attempt to reclaim him. Of course, Amy, Bohdi, and Steve all have feelings about that… And Sleipnir has his own feelings as well! The story is largely from Sleipnir’s POS (point of smell).

I’ve been struggling to get the horse details all right, but managed to find “horse people” among my fans who have helped a lot. It has been fun researching horse social structure, behavior, and psychology, and probably great practice for writing aliens.
