The Music of Voices

Riverby, West Park, Esopus, New York

I am somewhere specific, within a box inside a set of Chinese boxes of places, and I received a set of Chinese boxes as a birthday present from Lynn Behrendt. We have made some music and approached midnight. We thank Teresa Genovese for her performance of "Happy Birthday" on the funnelodeon, and now we'll drive up the incline and deeper into the night.

Use Your Hands

Use your hands.

My life has been busy of late. Work is slowly working itself out of its tender busyness into raw dailyness. It takes a while. L

Tony Trehy, "Vinculum" (2010)Today, I turned fifty, which seems like half-way somewhere but must be more than half-way. Still, it's a good place to be: evidence of some accomplishment, even if only survival. But in the course of fifty years something must be accomplished, and I've done some of that.

I celebrated the day by staying home and working on the yard in a furiously powerful sun. That might not sound like a good day, but I loved the accomplishment of it. I finished one significant port...

The Secrets of Magic Day

Nancy F Huth, 49, Trying on Boots (24 May 2010)Today is May 24th, so it is the 49th birthday of two poets I know, my wife Nancy and the Finnish poet Jukka-Pekka Kervinen (who has probably created 20 poems in the time it's taken me to write this sentence). But this is not about Jukka-Pekka, great though he is.

This is a reminder that this is Magic Day, the only day in the entire year when Nancy and I are the same age. Today, we are both 49. Tomorrow, that changes.

So we celebrated big. I stayed ...
